“A mentor!” Stormpaw thought to himself, He had dreamed of this day every since he could think! He would be the best warrior Thunderclan had ever seen! He would hunt the best, fight the best, and pass down all his knowledge to apprentices of his own. While he was thinking this, his new mentor Bumblestep walked over to him and touched noses with Stormpaw. Then Bumblestep asked the question that Stormpaw already had the answer to. “Hello Stormpaw. Excited for training?”
“Of course! Why wouldn’t I?!” Stormpaw burst out. “I’ve been waiting for this day for so long! When do we start hunting? Or fighting other clans that cross our territory??”

A tiny gray she-kit was toddling out of the nursery, a moss-ball in her mouth. She blinked at the sudden brightness, her Ice-blue eyes shining. Suddenly, she heard a rustling from behind her, coming from the nursery. Frostkit dropped the ball. "H-hello?", she squeaked. Who could that be? Oooh, maybe it's another kit that I can play moss-ball with! "Who's there?" She turned around, peering into the mouth of the nursery, eagerly awaiting a response...

The tomcat had turned to greet the cat he'd heard entering the den, and he smiled when he spotted Adderfrost, along with Mountaingrowl right behind him. He let out a small huff, halfway between a laugh and a scoff at Mountaingrowl's tone. "Yes, something will need to be done about Buckbranch." He then addressed Adderfrost, flicking his tail. "I will be calling for patrols tomorrow morning, and I thank you for your offer to lead one. I will keep that in mind." He then fell quiet as Mountaingrowl spoke, listening intently to his words. "Permanent end?" He mumbled once the tom was done speaking, not quite following where the warrior was going. Flintstar often had a hard time with connecting things if not told directly, and so he sat silent for a moment, ears down and head tilted as he replayed the sentence over and over in his head. "Permanent end... oh. Oh. OH!" The meaning of the words seemed to smack the leader in the face as he sat straight up, very nearly hitting his head on the ceiling of the den. "Um.. like, death? Like you want me to.... execute Buckbranch?" Flintstar's words came out in small fragments as he was still processing, processing why in the world Mountaingrowl would come up with an idea as outrageous as this. Sure, Buckbranch's ideas were outrageous, but that was why he was under watch. Killing him was a whole different matter. One that Flintstar was not all too comfortable with. He cast a quick look over to Adderfrost before he refocused his attention on Mountaingrowl, awaiting whatever explanation the tom would come up with to back his outrageous statement.

Adderfrost nodded to Flintstar. "Thank you. I'll be awake and ready." He watched the interaction between Mountaingrowl and his leader, perking his ears.
"Execution is not what ThunderClan does. Maybe exile, but that gives him the opprotunity to tell the other clans about our plans."

Now that about everything seemed in place after yesterday's announcement of his plan, besides the little scuffle with Buckbranch of course, Flintstar thought it was high time he announced the border patrols that would be going to each of their three borders. He'd given the task of the dawn hunting patrol to cats already, so he'd assign another hunting patrol later in the day.

Clambering up onto the highpeak, with much more grace than he had yesterday, Flintstar planted his feet on the stone and looked out over the clan. He smiled upon realizing a few of his clanmembers were already up and about, probably taking what he had said yesterday into account. Not wasting anymore time, Flintstar surveyed the crowd, looking for the cats that he would trust sending out on these patrols. He didn't want any border skirmishes yet. Plus these cats would have to be able to keep a straight face and hide their inner intentions if they happened upon a patrol from another clan.

(There will be no prompts this time, as these patrols are for the plot specifically. But please do check for your name! I would like these patrols to get done, so a posting order won't be necessary. Just keep the RP going!)

"Roaringthunder [ tutler ], Mountaingrowl [ BILL. ], Sunsnow [ Starstruck ], and Buckbranch [ Slushie ], I believe leaving for your hunting patrol soon would be in your best interests. I'll put Roaringthunder in charge of the patrol." He nodded to the four cats before turning to look for the next group he would be sending out.

"Adderfrost [ Nebby ], you will take a border patrol to the Shadowclan border. That is the least-likely border to be extended due to its burnt state, but I do want the markers strong. We want to let Shadowclan know that Thunderclan is all the way back on its paws." He nodded to the tomcat, before glancing around for cats to join him. "You will be taking Rockclaw [ Sharp moon ] and Ashdeath [ Fuzzyfeline ] with you."

After the Shadowclan border had been addressed, Flintstar focused his gaze on Rosebriar. She seemed capable enough of leading a patrol. And he would most definitely be sending Twistedstalk with her, so she would hopefully remain focused on her task. "Rosebriar [ Lonestar23 ]! I would like you to take Twistedstalk [ Haunted ] and Blossomclaw [ Pepperkins ] to the Riverclan border and remark our borders there. There's been increasing pawsteps of Riverclanners just over our borders, and I want to let them know Thunderclan is fine now and won't need any further meddling." That was also a border Flintstar wasn't sure he'd be keen on extending, but he'd have them check it out anyways.

Last was the Windclan border. Now this was the border that Flintstar had set his sights on from the beginning. Windclan had grown increasingly quiet over the past moons, so he'd doubt the clan would even realize they took the territory. He still wanted the border to be marked and the territory across to be checked out, but he didn't need a large patrol for this one. "Dragonlily [ Moonraven ]. You will take the final patrol to the Windclan border. Rowangale [ Venus ] will go with you. Keep on the down low over there though."

Once all of the patrols were organized, Flintstar addressed them once more before they departed. "Be sure to take a simple inventory check of the land across the border. Don't cross any borders, but I would like reports from each of the patrol leaders on the state of the territory on the other side. Now that is all, you may go." With a nod to each of the patrols, Flintstar leaped off of the highpeak and made his way back into his den, intent on finishing the cleaning of it that had been a gruesome task.

Blossomclaw pepped up excitedly, looking around for her patrol mates. Looks like she didn't miss patrols like she thought. Licking her paw since she had accidentally twisted it when she jumped up, she padded towards the patrol leader with a smiled, tail high behind her. "So when are we heading out?" she asked curiously, flicking a ear as she sat down by Rosebriar and glancing around for Twistedstalk.

The motherly she-cat lifted her eyes up toward her clan leader as he called out patrols. Hearing that her patrol, although small, had Windclan made her figure that this would be an easy patrol. A simple scout and border marking, since she wasn't the type to stir up trouble, she was certain that even if they came across any Windclanners nothing would come of it. Her attention shifted over to the cat that she'd be bringing with her. "Shall we go?" She questioned when Rowangale padded up to her. She didn't know Rowangale all that great, but patrols were a good way to learn and spend a little time with clanmates.

Rosebriar looked up, half-surprised. She was supposed to lead this patrol? I mean, that's fine, I guess. "Sure thing. Got it under control, Flintstar." A wink and a smile later, she was off to find the other members of her patrol. Twistedstalk - an older she-cat, right? And then Blossomclaw, but Rosebriar had no idea how old Blossomclaw was. Maybe she'd ask, if she felt inclined to do so. Approaching the two cats (she assumed, as far as she knew she was right about this), Rosebriar flashed them another one of her smiles.

"Ready to get out of here?"

Phoenixpaw was in the midst of clawing up more filthy old bedding when she heard a voice that wasn't her brother's. She raised her head, nose twitching as she resisted the urge to sneeze and look at the tom that came waltzing in. The orange-eyed apprentice was pretty certain that she's seen the tom around the camp, but he is name was evading her. It didn't really matter so long as he was here to help with the den that all the apprentices were supposed to be sleeping in. Sometimes she didn't understand why she bothered doing stuff like this when no one, besides Apcolypsepaw who was ordered to, was going to help out. She stifled her irritation, doing her best not to sound completely like a cat's rear end at the tom's friendly voice. "Help me pull this stuff out of here." She ordered, not bothering with greetings or thanks. She was filthy, her nose was itchy and a little wet, and she was tired. It was easy to tell that her mood wasn't all that great. She just wanted to get this done and then sleep. Phoenixpaw nodded towards the pile of old bedding and anything else she found in here she deemed as disgusting and added to the pile.

Adderpaw had offered to help, but he hadn't expected he'd be doing this sort of work. It seemed dirty, even by his standards. Giving a cautious look towards the pile of already-removed gunk (as though it had a mind of its own, and would spring up and attack him), he hurried towards a spot near Phoenixpaw, where he could clean up and still not have to be on his own. After all, he'd partially come in here for some good old-fashioned socialization. There was nothing wrong with that, was there? "So," He began, a conversational note entering his voice, "I've seen you around camp, I think. What was your name again?" It was something pretty. He couldn't quite remember what, but he distinctly remembered it sounding like something out of the old elder-tales that he'd been told as a kit. It was far off, distant, unique. He'd never heard anything like it in ThunderClan before.

Wrinkling his nose as his claws stuck into one of the pieces of old bedding, Adderpaw half-flung it across the den towards the pile. It fell a few inches short; he deemed it a job done well enough, and turned back to clean more. "This isn't exactly how I pictured my apprenticeship going," He mewed, more to himself than his companion. She didn't seem to be in the best mood anyways, although Adderpaw planned to sort that out soon enough. Surely she couldn't stay mad at him for long, right? That was assuming that she would get upset at all.

"Let's look at this realistically. Both of you." Mountaingrowl's gaze was unwavering, undaunted by the horror his leader and Clan-mate seemed to feel. "ThunderClan is in a state where we cannot afford to spend time keeping watch on cats who are clearly disloyal. You will run your warriors to the ground watching a snake that wishes to slither off and endanger our Clan at the earliest convenience. It would be the best interest of the Clan to remove him as a threat. Adderfrost is correct releasing him is not an option-- so we should either kill him, or cut out that treacherous tongue. That would prevent the chance of him saying anything to the other Clans and reduce the need to keep an eye on him."

After all, what would a mute cat do? He couldn't say a word to the other Clans in that case. "As it stands, ThunderClan needs loyalty and dedication above all else. We need to cut the weak loose, and right now that boy is the weakest link here."

Adderfrost listened carefully to what Mountaingrowl said. It was true. ThunderClan needed loyalty and strength now above all else. But making him mute? It must be something they had to do, but he still felt uncomfortable about killing a cat or slicing out his only way to share his thoughts. "I believe what Mountaingrowl says has merit. But I think we should consider our options carefully. Buckbranch is a weak link. That much is clear. But let's not move to extremely drastic solutions to our problems. We can't just shake him into the river and hope all will be well."

That was assuming that she would get upset at all.

The dirty feline nearly solely focused on the task before her. The young cat was often driven when giving something to do even when it wasn't something she particularly enjoyed. She noticed how the other tom took to settling beside her to work. She paused to spare a moment, watching him. There was a name that came to mind, she was sure she had heard it before. It had something to do with a snake perhaps. She returned to clearing out the den, one ear wandering in the direction of his voice without her consent. When she was moody she found that she wasn't a great conversationalist, however, she was not as terrible as Apocalypsepaw when it came to her temper so refrained from burning her clanmates with it.

"Phoenixpaw." She answered, slowly finding that her troubling mood was fading with the chatty cat. Maybe she should try talking more when she was stuck doing stuff she didn't want to do. It seemed to calm her foul mood. Her eyes followed the other apprentice as he took to flinging some old bedding about and of course, it did not land where it was supposed to. Oh, dear Starclan it's like working with Apocalypsepaw! She thought to herself while walking over and putting the bedding with the rest of the gunk. At least this tom wasn't grunting, groaning and complaining. "Well, someone has to clean the den and we can't expect our mentors to do it." She sighed, catching the tail of his soft words. "Anyway, thanks for the help. You gotta name?" Phoenixpaw inquired gently, unsure if her former words had come off to harshly or bluntly. She really wasn't trying to be mean or anything of the sort.

Oh, yes, she also wanted to inquire about what was being done with Buckbranch, and maybe see if Flintstar had eaten today and... The she-cat dashed her former thoughts. Flintstar was silent for a long moment, half because he didn't know what to say, half because he was still shocked by Moutaingrowl's suggestion. He'd been told all his life by his mother that hurting cats without reason was terrible. And even then, killing them was always out of the question. But as he thought more about it, green eyes flicking about the den as thoughts swirled through his mind, the more it made sense to him. Maybe not execution, but making it so Buckbranch wouldn't be able to speak? There was a reason to go to those lengths. Buckbranch was threatening to endanger all of Thunderclan, just so he could go and save the other clans. Which clearly, to Flintstar, was a traitorous act. Would you punish traitors if they threatened the safety of you whole clan? He knew the answer to his internal question. Even though Passionstar had never been big on that, in fact they'd never really had any traitors under his leadership, Flintstar knew he'd forgo punishing one cat if they threatened the safety of an entire clan.

"Mountaingrowl, you bring up a solid point. I do not wish to tire my warriors any further than they are. Buckbranch's acts have proved traitorous, but this situation is not something where exile would be a smart idea." He looked between both toms in his den, taking a deep breath before speaking once more. "I will hear the report the hunting patrol brings back tomorrow, and if Buckbranch has caused further problems, then I believe muting him would be our best plan of action." Even as he said it, Flintstar was a little unsure of his own words. He'd never thought anything would come to this, but desperate times call for desperate measures. "This is not what I believed this would come to, but as Buckbranch has threatened the safety of our clan, and execution is out of the question.." He gave a firm look to Moutaingrowl at those words, "then we will see what happens on the hunting patrol, and my final decision will stem from that."

The tortoiseshell glared silently at his captors, green eyes ablaze with defiance and fury, and the distinct scent of fear wafted from his fur. He put on a good bravado, but he was terrified of what Flintstar would do. Sure, the leader was generally a goofball and a major softie, but Buckbranch had seen him angry once, and he was less than exuberant to see that snarl again.

The walk back had been awkward, quiet and filled with hate filled glances and unsaid comments. Though he wouldn’t bother making small talk, he feared that Buckbranch would go on a rant and Sunsnow would finally lose his patience. The last thing he needed would be for them to let lose on each other.
As they padded through camp and up to the leaders den roaringthunder slipped in first, the fleeting scent of the leaders past crossed his nose but faded all too soon. A faint smile crossed his lips but the thought didn’t linger much longer. “Flintstar” his voice was cool and calm as opposed to the rest of the patrol members. He waved his tail to Sunsnow ordering him to be quiet just in case he felt like bursting out and blabbing on about how he was a traitor and how valiant he was to have caught Buckbranch. Besides he was the patrol leader after all, and he was going to take it quite seriously even if he didn’t like being that cat. “As we all know I had been late to the patrol and they had departed without me, and in doing so it had given Buckbranch ample time to.. attempt escape” he found a chuckle on his lips but quickly but down on the inside of his cheek. “He hadn’t got quite far” he mrrowed softly casting another apologetic glance in Buckbranches direction and a second to Sunsnow. However a sternness fell upon his eyes “Sunsnow took him down.” he acknowledged the younger warrior with a nod. “That’s all we have to report” RedHead Slushie Starstruck

Dragonlily's eyes danced over to the familiar somewhat grouchy face of the she-cat she had met not too long ago who gave her that kittish nickname. She offered Rosebrair a smile when she glanced at her although she was little lost when Rosebriar walked into the den when Adderfrost was already there. Oh, so they could just go in? She thought they were waiting in turns. With that known, Dragonlily got to her paws and followed Rosebriar into the den. At the invitation to come in from the leader and see she had already had half her body in the den, she offered a polite smile and finished walking the rest of the ways in. Her gentle cerulean eyes fell to Flintstar when he began speaking. She took a seat nearby Rosebrair, remaining attentive as she listened to Adderfrost as he spoke up, overlooking the urge to clean Flintstar's den now she was in it. The den...and maybe the tom needed a bath as well? If allowed, she'd probably go around sharing tongues with every member in the clan.

She dashed the silly dream and focused on the small meeting. She hadn't thought there would be much on Shadowclan's territory. In truth, Riverclan and Windclan were most likely the best sides to push the borders. Which sides would most likely be decided with these reports, hopefully? Dragonlily curled her bushy tail around her paws to keep it from brushing against Rosebriar's side(unconsciously she was sitting a little close). Her eyes left the other cats in the room and glanced outside as she heard the incoming paw steps. She caught sight of Buckbranch's familiar pelt along with those other two warriors from the meeting, Sunsnow, and Roaringthunder. Buckbranch looked like he had rolled around ash and dirt and reeked of fear. That couldn't be good. Dragonlily watched silently as Roaringthunder made his report, that feeling of disappointment returned as she heard Buckbranch had made an attempt to run.

He seemed rather fearful at the moment, yet, she highly doubted that he wouldn't try again if given a chance. Dragonlily returned her gaze to the front, waiting to hear what Flintstar had to say. She hoped he kept his head somewhat cool, administrating punishment when temperamental, to her, could lead to regret later on. Dragonlily would sit idle for now so long as whatever Flintstar had planned didn't seem over the top to her. As the others called the tom traitor and other things, Dragonlily couldn't quite see him as one. Yes, this once he was trying to do what he thought was right, even if it was wrong in their eyes, but beyond that Buckbranch has been a loyal warrior to the clan, he hunted beside them, patrolled, slept with them. He looked scared out of his wits right now, and perhaps she was being too soft, but she just couldn't see him as a fox-hearted traitor He was just a misguided tom who's thoughts didn't line up with their own.

He gave the clan leader an imploring look. "I think that Buttercup over here should be confined to the camp indefinitely. Clearly, he will take any chance that he has to escape! As long as he can't leave camp, Thunderclan won't be in danger! Surely this proposition makes sense to you?" He shifted his paws and ducked his head. I hope that I haven't offended Flintstar! Why if he thinks that I'm taking initiative where I shouldn't? Agh, but I can't let Buckbranch run around in the forest! He looked up and met Flintstar's gaze again. "I truly think that this is the best way for the clan. If Buttercup tries to escape again- who knows? He just might succeed!"

Buckbranch shifted uneasily as the other two warriors spoke. He was hardly hearing what they were saying; instead, his thoughts were focused on just what in the world Flintstar and Mountaingrowl had been discussing. He'd seen the large tom hanging near Flintstar's den and it made him jittery. Had they been talking about his death? Perhaps some form of cruel punishment was close to being due. He coughed and tried to speak - "Flintstar, I..." - but his voice died in his throat, trailing off. How could he finish that sentence? "Flintstar, I can explain"? "Flintstar, I was only doing what I thought would he best"? There was no good way to end it. Slowly his ears began to flatten against his head and his tail stilled. The fur along his spine had already risen but his whiskers seemed to go rigid. An awful feeling was beginning to climb down his back, like an ice-cold claw trailing down his spine. He looked at the ground, the only place he could fix his gaze without feeling absolutely petrified.

As Buckfrost entered the den, Rosebriar's eyes narrowed. Not this again. What kind of fox-hearted, mouse-brained cat would want to sell out their own Clan? She gave a frustrated hiss, seeming almost to shrink in on herself (mainly to avoid Dragonfly's tail brushing up against her), her eyes narrowed as she studied the warrior. "Fox-heart," She snapped, not quite under her breath, but not so loud that it would ring out through the den. She wasn't going to be quiet about this. Why should she? If he could voice his disapproval of the plan, then Rosebriar should be allowed to voice her disapproval of him. Frustration was evident in her expression as she glanced partly to the side, looking for any reaction to come from Dragonlily. The she-cat looked as calm and pleasant as ever, which was partially frustrating for Rosebriar. Well? Say something, she thought, with a sigh. At the very least, he was covered in dirt and ash, as though he'd been knocked to the ground. Maybe someone had knocked some sense into him. Either that, or they'd tried to kill him; at this point, she would've taken either.

Phoenixpaw. It was pretty, albeit would probably be hard to remember since he'd never heard a prefix like that. He didn't even know what a 'phoenix' was... perhaps something loners knew about? Or kittypets? Hopefully not some odd Dusk Syndicate type thing, that would be weird. "Pretty name," He mewed, with another friendly smile in her direction. She wasn't very talkative, but Adderpaw could work with that. After all, surely she didn't want to just work in silence, right? That would be boring. Not to mention, unfortunate for him, since he'd come in her specifically to talk.

"Uh... what exactly is a 'phoenix?'" The tom asked, his head tilted partly to the side as he spoke. He couldn't get much off of context clues; maybe it was a family thing, as well. He knew some cats would name their kits after someone in their family, or some sort of specific thing that had to do with their family. He thought it was cool, he supposed, although it could be confusing to everyone else.

After flinging the gross piece of bedding, Adderpaw felt a twinge of guilt when he saw Phoenixpaw go to put it with the other stuff. Maybe he should've gone to get it in the first place, but there was no use dwelling on that now. Besides, she seemed fine. A little grumpy, but she'd been grumpy when he'd entered the den, too. Actually, for the most part, she didn't seem as upset now, so Adderpaw figured he'd done his job. He'd come in here to get some conversation, and she probably would've liked some cheering up anyways, so it was a win-win for them. "I guess not," He mewed, half-scowling at her mention that their mentors wouldn't do it for them. Cherrybubble might have come to help; she seemed like a nice cat, right? Besides, if there were a few more cats in here, it would go much faster. Adderpaw didn't mind the opportunity for some one-on-one conversation, but the cleaning was, (for lack of a better word), terrible.

"Adderpaw, and you're welcome." He mewed, giving her his most winning smile. She seemed to be in a better mood now, for which Adderpaw was grateful. Good moods were rarer nowadays, after the fire and everything. Still, they were welcome when they came along.

Oh goodness now it’s crowded... Flintstar took a deep breath to steel himself, he could already feel the anger boiling as Roaringthunder have his report. But he needed to be calm with this. He needed to keep his cool. The earlier conversation with Mountaingrowl was still buzzing in his head as he turned his eyes to Buckbranch, an unreadable expression crossing his gaze before he let out a small laugh. It wasn’t mocking, more like something exasperated. He was near the end of his wits. His temper was teetering on edge, and great Starclan if some cat moved their tail one more time he was going to have a fit.
“Thank you for the report Adderfrost. You may go get something from the fresh-kill pile.” He told the younger tom, nodding to him in dismissal. He’d given his report, so there was one cat that could exit the stuffy den.

He then turned his green eyes to the hunting patrol, wrapping his tail tighter around his paws to steady himself. “Roaringthunder, Sunsnow, thank you for the report. I will make sure that Buckbranch is dealt with. For now, you two can be relieved. Go eat something, and then come back and get him after you are done, so I may make my announcement tonight.” He gave the two toms a dismissive nod before turning to the two she-cats left in his den. With steady movements, he stood and walked around Buckbranch so he was blocking the entrance to the den, ignoring the tom’s feeble attempt to call his name. He’d talk to him in a moment. “Dragonlily, Rosebriar, you may continue with your reports now.” He sat and looked at the two she-cats expectantly, though his gaze didn’t flick to Buckbranch once. “I’ll have a talk with Buckbranch here after you two are finished, but don’t feel rushed.” He gave a smile to try and reassure them, but the leader’s own nerves were shot, his entire psyche on edge from that overwhelming experience from just a moment ago.

Tallmarsh sighed as she stepped into the remains of her den. Sadly, the medicine den had been ravaged by the fire. Most of Tallmarsh’s store was completely unusable, and she was finding it extremely difficult to keep her cool. How was she supposed to teach Irispaw, let alone heal her Clanmates, when she had virtually no supplies? To her, a medicine cat with no supplies was like a warrior with no claws or teeth—useless. She knew what Flintstar would say—this was an opportunity for her to teach Irispaw all about herbs and how to collect them along with their uses. Plus, after the fire there would (hopefully) be new growths. She just hoped that she’d be able to restock her store as soon as possible. Maybe she could ask some of the other medicine cats.

Shaking off her frustration and anxiety, Tallmarsh turned to Irispaw, who she had led in behind her, and motioned with her long tail to the soot-stained den around them. “Welcome to the medicine den. As you can see, there isn’t much of use here after the fire, so we’ll be herb-hunting for our first lesson,” she explained, gritting her teeth as she talked about the fire. Looking around the den, it was a sight for sore eyes. The herb wall was stocked with ash and charred remains of flowers and berries, and the nests that sat at the back of the den were ready to crumble to pieces at the slightest breeze. “So, this will be your new home. I thought while we were out we could also look for best material,” she explained.

Buckbranch swallowed and closed his eyes - well, more like squeezed them as tight as they could go. He could practically feel the other cats' stares boring into him, burning him where they landed. A whisper came from his right; it was harsh but not loud enough for him to identify the speaker or the words.

A new chunk of panic smacked into him. Flintstar was dismissing the other cats, one by one, so only he and Buckbranch would be left. The tortoiseshell shuffled over to a corner of the den and sat, wrapping his tail tightly around his paws. Great StarClan why does he want me alone? he thought as the other warriors began to exit the den. What announcement? About me? He's not wven looking at me! Irispaw looked around in slight disappointment. This was not what I was expecting..., she thought, the stench of the old charred den choking her slightly. But the again, things were different after the fire. She could still remember it... She felt her paws itch in frustration. They wanted to organize, to rebuild. She stood her ground sternly. Go away, urges! She passed forwards determinedly to stop beside Tallmarsh, and looked up reassuringly. "It must have been beautiful...we can make it that again." She whispered, her heart thrumming with new hope as she smiled softly at her mentor. She would do whatever she could to help, and she knew there was quite a bit to be done.

She continued to glance from her mentor to the inside of the den as her mentor explained her instructions. I'll make you proud, Tallmarsh!, she thought confidently to herself, standing with a new confidence. She smiled, eyebrows arching in eagerness.
"Okay!" She mewed, "When do we go?" She asked, her ears perking up. Her voice caught slightly after she heard the word 'home'. She hesitated, then smiled. She liked that word. Home.

She could feel eyes burning into her pelt, it took her a moment to figure out that it was Rosebriar. The molly wasn't certain what had gotten her tail in a bunch but she could practically feel the frustration radiating off her. Dragonlily didn't bother glimpsing at her, feeling that she was part of whatever seemed to be upsetting the other warrior. Is she waiting for me to speak out against Buckbrach? she wondered, Dragonlily didn't feel as bad about upsetting the she-cat at this moment. She wasn't going to say anything.

The flame point brushed off Rosebriar's attention to watch the leader with some minor concerns. She liked to observe, to watch was to learn, and watching the tom she found that he was stretched like a rubber band, a little more pressure and he might snap. Perhaps it was the number of cats in one den, some didn't do well in crowded spaces, Dragonlily never minded crowed spaces the same way she never minded any of the other dens, nursery, apprentice, or warriors'. However, she supposed if she were in the leader's place and her nerves were as shot as his, she'd want some space as well.

He was doing pretty well containing and keeping his composure. Seeing how he dismissed all the toms expect Buckbranch and then placed himself in front of the entrance made her assume that his stress mainly came from the cowering warrior. She felt bad for both toms, she prayed that Flintstar found someone he could rely on, teach him a few breathing techniques, and someone who could unwind him when he got all tighten up like he was. She hoped that Buckbranch punishment wasn't too bad as well. She would have liked to stay and ensure that everything turned out somewhat alright, however, seeing as Flintstar wanted to deal with Buckbranch on his own Dragonlily wasn't going to break the leader's button by asking if she could stay.

"Windclan's borders were quiet, I smelt a faint scent of Windclan over the border, but nothing overly alarming." Dragonlily started her reported, the warm and friendly air that surged from her being earlier turned serious and solemn. "Their territory is still vibrant and filled with life, despite the lack of trees, the territory would make an ideal hunting grounds for Thunderclan." She kept her report short, simple, and sweet.

Heaving a large breath, the Thunderclan leader moved his gaze from Dragonlily to Rosebriar, completely bypassing Buckbranch. He would deal with him in a moment.

Alright let's do this. Bunching up his muscles, Flintstar bounded to the top of the highpeak, making it to the top much easier now that most of the soot had blown off of the rock. Once he was at the top, Flintstar glanced over the clan, most of who were already in the clearing, conversing over their meals for the evening. So, Flintstar simply called down to gain their attention.
"Cats of Thunderclan, the patrols have returned, and I have made a decision." Flintstar waited until most of the eyes in the clearing were turned up towards him, then he continued.
"Windclan territory was completely unaffected by the fire. And out shared border with them is still thriving, and will most likely continue to provide prey into the colder months." Flintstar paused a moment to let his words sink in, allowing all the cats below him to process what he'd said. "So, I've decided that the Windclan border will be the border we plan to extend. Now, I know some of you may not be feeling up to this particular task, but I would like to know who'd be interested in being part of the patrol to extend the border." Flintstar then leaped down from the highpeak, though stood in front of it, watching the reactions of his clanmates, to see who would be willing to come along with him on this patrol.

Flintstar's presence was clearly overwhelming him, and his tail twitched back and forth. He was calculating the situation, assessing the possible dangers. The thought of running from the den briefly crossed his mind, but he pushed it violently away. At best, he would be tackled and confined to camp for life. At worst... Buckbranch shuddered at the image of Mountaingrowl burying his claws in his fur. He swallowed and backed away from the entrance. He'd tried running once already, and it had not gone well. At least, not that Rosebriar had ever heard. She paused for a moment before sighing. RiverClan's territory wasn't great, and she knew it; she figured she might as well present both sides of it.

"But from what I know, Lionstar's also impulsive and prideful. If he found out, we could be in serious trouble. We're still recovering, and even though they aren't the most skilled warriors... they're in better shape than we are right now." There. Both sides, out on the table.

The WindClan border made sense. RiverClan's territory hadn't been as affected by the fire, but it was far from perfect, and what Twistedstalk had mentioned about it being a while before prey would return to the land had stuck with her. The fact that it was someone else's idea to take WindClan's territory, however, was something that Rosebriar wasn't fond of. Goldenshade stood rigid and glanced vacantly at his paws. The familiar tang of blood stung his throat. But this time it wasn’t someone else's. It was his. And it reeked of death. He had to fight the urge to vomit.

My face.

A chill traveled up his spine and he shuddered. My face. My beautiful face. He felt dizzy with emotions. Light as air, but still so heavy. His heart fluttered in his chest. He thought his legs might buckle underneath him. Was it anger? Was it thirst? Ecstasy? Or something else entirely? He didn’t quite know. His mind was too busy running circles around his head to care.

You’re mine. I’ll never let you go. Not ever. Not until I can squeeze the last breath out of your corpse.

The tom ground his teeth until they felt as though they might crack and unfurled a cruel grimace. “Oh dear. Striking a clanmate in the middle of camp? How rash.” A purr that was practically a growl rolled in throat as he leaned in towards her until his whiskers tickled her face. “You should hope no one saw that. Or they might think you’re a brute.” He licked at the blood that dripped down his maw. “You’re lucky I’m so forgiving.”

The range blazed on in her deep green gaze; steady and sharp. Honeybrume's ears soaked up every word spilled into her ear, and she only slightly flinched when his whiskers tickled her face. She felt as if she could strike him again right then and there, but the golden pig had a point. Lashing out in the middle of camp was not her usual forte. In fact, this was not how she should have acted at all. While Goldenshade was an absolute jerk, her anger could have been expressed differently. A tang of regret stung her heart, not for the tom, but for her actions. I...need to leave.

Slowly inhaling, Honeybrume regathered her strength, straightening herself once more. She turned to look at him dead in the eyes and growled. "Then you'll forgive me for leaving."

And just like that, the small orange warrior dismissed herself from the conversation, slipping away into a nearby den. Gone.

Perhaps they’d encounter danger.. perhaps a patrol of equal size. The thought passed briefly as another few offers popped up from the crowd.

‘ ‘ if the patrol isn’t full. I wouldn’t mind tagging along ‘ ‘

Lately the young molly had felt blown off like Flintstar didn't have time for her anymore. Yeah he was the leader now and had no deputy to help him but she still needed to become a warrior some day. Unless he didn't want her to become a warrior. Maybe that was his plan all along. Become her mentor act nice and never let her become a warrior. The thought shook her.
As the very tom she was thinking of jumped onto the branch and called a meeting Minkpaw would join the crowd. Had he decided who they would steal land from? Well he already answered that actually. The fact that WindClan would be an easy target was.
With the request of cats for the patrol the young molly stood up and walked right up to her mentor. Whiskers quivering as she did. "I want to go." Mink declared after mustering the courage. She was done being ignored or looked over.

The apprentice found it a little odd how talkative Adderpaw was during what she considered to be a job. Still, weirdly enough she found his chatter to be relaxing and soothing. Her brother wasn't as big about chatting doing work, more like complaining. Thinking of him, where was Apocalypsepaw she sent him out to fetch bedding a while ago.

Seeing as all the old stuff was picked up, she gave a mental pat on the back. It really wasn't all that funny, perhaps stress had finally made her a little crazy. After she got control over herself she answers his question. A handsome tawny pelted tom was wandering around the clearing, he should have been gathering whatever it was his sister had asked him to. Apocalypsepaw didn't do well with work or anything that resembled work. He preferred hunting, but with the territory, the way it was he wasn't doubted much hunting would be going on in the coming months. He's heard snips and pieces of gossip about Flintstar's plan to increase their territory. Unlike some, the grumpy tom could care less about what happened to the other clans. Even at his age, he knew that in the end, all you had was you to look out for, Thunderclan only had Thunderclan to look out for. Bored and avoiding his sister, he took to plopping down near the back of the warrior's den for a nap.

Home.

Tallmarsh gave a small nod, glancing around the den once more. "It was," she replied. She smiled at Irispaw. Her enthusiasm was encouraging. Even though she had gone through so much, she was still smiling and excited to serve her Clan. If nothing else, this was a welcome change to the dreariness that seemed to seep into the medicine cat's daily life. "Well, I was hoping we could get the herb wall cleaned up a bit to make space for the new store," she explained. She padded towards the den and began to sweep ashes and burned leaves off of their shelves. "Anything that isn't completely burned bring to me so I can see if it's salvageable."

Irispaw nodded, smiling back at her mentor. The she-cat seemed almost distant, and she sensed the same emotion in Tallmarsh's eyes that she had herself the day that her mother died. Is she...like me? She questioned, tilting her head on the slightest angle. She became so immersed in her thoughts, she felt lightheaded trying to gather any more.
"Aye!" She nodded, passing over to what must have been the former herb storage. She sniffed at the small, burnt leaves, the ash stinging her eyes. She glimpsed a large, fuzzy one, and retrieved it carefully. She picked up some numerous others, trying not to crinkle any of them beyond repair.
"What about these?"

Flintstar smiled down at his apprentice. It was about time she became a warrior, and this would be a perfect assessment for her. Then he could reward her with her warrior name. She needed that.
The leader nodded to Sunsnow, flicking his tail lightly. “Then you make sure you keep a good eye on Buckbranch. Don’t let him loose.” The tom cast a glare at the traitor, in the corner of the clearing, before he waved his tail. “Dragonlily, Cricketchirp, Adderfrost, Rosebriar, Blossomclaw, Roaringthunder, and Minkpaw. Cricketchirp made a joyful squeak of excitement and bounced on her toes, tail waving sporadically. "Yes, sir!" She dipped her head and rushed after Flintstar, following behind him as quickly as she could. Finally, something exciting! She hadn't taken part in anything of importance until now, having not been assigned to do anything, and this was her chance to be useful to her Clan, just like a warrior should! The brown molly's eyes glimmered brightly as she followed her leader into the darkness, paws thudding against the ground as she raced to keep up. This is exhilarating!

Her flickered towards Buckbranch, hoping that Flintstar would find a befitting, yet fair, punishment for Buckbranch in due time. Her attention returned to the leader as she heard her named added to the numerous other for the patrol. As the leader darted out of the camp entrance, she trailed behind the others with calm mirth radiating through her body. With this territory, she was sure Thunderclan would thrive again and that is all she wished for.

The orange-and-white tom looked up at the leader and nodded dutifully. It would be difficult watching Buttercup alone, but he thought he could take it. After all, Sunsnow was just as good a warrior as he! His green gaze swept the clearing and latched onto Buckbranch, eyes immediately narrowing when he saw him. You won't escape. Not on my watch. Sunsnow padded across the clearing to stand next to him, his gaze still fixed on him. I'll never let you out of my sight, I swear.

Buckbranch swallowed uneasily at the final mention of his name. He shifted further back into the shadows, hyperaware of what seemed like the entire clearing's eyes on him. He shuffled his paws, but stood to meet Sunsnow as the orange and white warrior came to meet him. The tortoiseshell raised his chin and narrowed his eyes, matching the other's expression. He could read Sunsnow's thoughts, plastered on the warrior's face like words in a book. And I'll do my best to get away from you, he promised silently. The Clans will know of this treachery. We are ThunderClan. We are honorable. We do not steal. A seed of resentment for Flintstar had planted itself in Buckbranch's stomach. The leader had gone against the very thing Buckbranch stood for. The second he got the chance, he would run from this place. Sunsnow wouldn't be able to hold him back. "Good luck, Sunshine," he growled, a hint of excitement lacing his tone. "I hope you like a challenge."

When Flintstar so willingly accepted her request, she was happy. Maybe he did trust her and actually wanted her to be around.
Puffing her chest ever so slightly before doubt could creep into her mind, she smiled the tiniest smile. Getting to e apart of this was supposed to be an honor. Giving a glance up at her mentor she followed the patrol. This was a step forward for ThunderClan and she was on the right side this time. She wasn't fighting against her home anymore. "We got this!" Minkpaw whispered to herself, loud enough for cats around her to catch it a bit.

Shadestripe raced into the clearing, heart thumping wildly as he took gasping breaths. Well, that was invigorating! Throughout his run here, the Shadowclan cat's excitement and anticipation just kept building! I know I usually think of medicine cats as strange, but wow- I'm actually going to learn from one! In his torrent of other such thoughts, Shadestripe forgot he was a Medicine cat himself for a moment. His green gaze flitted around the clearing, trying to spot any cats that might be able to point him in the direction of Tallmarsh, not expecting the hostile reactions that would surely come next.

Or the fresh-kill pile. He was also hungry.

It’d been a rather peaceful day so far, and Cherrybubble had returned from a patrol not too long ago. She was lazily grooming herself in the clearing, eyes slitted as she did so. But a commotion reached her ears, so she cracked open one vivid green eye. Both soon snapped wide open as she noticed a cat standing in the middle of he clearing, unrecognizable and reeking of Shadowclan scent.
At first she was simply stunned. This cat had waltzed right into the camp like it was nothing. And the Shadowclan border patrol had just gotten back recently. So he must’ve come after them.
With a growl erupting in her throat, Cherrybubble stalked right up to the intruding cat. “And just what sort of mouse-brain are you, barging into our camp like this?” She growled in his face, stalking in a circle around him with her tail lashing. “Is Shadowclan in trouble or something?” The thought had occurred briefly and she paused, staring at the cat before her, but he didn’t look scared or frantic at all. Just slightly winded. So she narrowed her eyes again. ”I ought to take you to speak with Flintstar, trespasser.” She hissed.

Shadestripe blinked. Do I seem like a mousebrain? His narrowed gaze quickly turned to a soft one as he suddenly felt as if he could trust this cat. It's like I've known her all my life... Relaxed now, he was content to sit back and watch as the Thunderclan cat spat in his face. Finally, she was finished. "Actually, I would much prefer it if you took me to Tallmarsh. I have training to catch up on." He purred with laughter. "Actually, training to start!" His gaze flicked back and forth, and at last he exclaimed; "I'm the new Shadowclan medicine cat! Cherrybubble couldn’t believe this cat, acting so calm and put together even when he was clearly outnumbered in Thunderclan’s camp.
Though understanding grew in her mind as he began to explain himself. She still didn’t like him, she’d decided that right off the bat, and now he wanted her to take him to Tallmarsh. Can Snowflake even handle this weirdo? She scoffed inwardly, tail-tip flicking once or twice before she lashed her entire tail. “You should’ve thought about your hunger before you left your camp bee-brain.” She rolled her eyes, annoyed by his somewhat entitled attitude. “Maybe if training goes well, Tallmarsh will reward you with a mouse.” She smirked at the tom, this was often a standard “reward” for younger cats, if you wanted to get the small fur balls to listen to you. Cherrybubble then waved her tail, bumping the tomcat with her shoulder. “Follow me bee-brain, and I’ll lead you to Tallmarsh.” She began walking towards the medicine cat den, making sure the tomcat was close behind.

"I'm not sure what it is exactly, my mom was a little bit unwell in the head, but she liked birds and stories, a Phoenix was one of the birds in her story. She liked it and that's my name." She trilled softly, in a better mood.

"My brother would most likely know what it is, I was too young to remember any of her stories. But Riddlemask would." She yawned, leaning down to stretch out her body. She had no idea what Apocalypsepaw's name was or meant either, after getting called something for so long it kind of just stuck with no questions asked. "What about you? How come you're named after an Adder, you don't look like a snake to me." She wondered if his family was named after snakes or maybe it was something they liked like her mother.

Adderpaw's eyes widened in surprise as the she-cat began to laugh. He wasn't sure what was so funny; was it a common name where she was from? Perhaps the origin was funny, but Adderpaw couldn't quite understand why she was laughing so hard about something she hadn't said yet. Once she'd begun speaking, he could understand why she was laughing; their Mom sounded weird. He let out a short laugh, clearing his throat afterward in case it was a sensitive subject. He didn't want to hurt Phoenixpaw's feelings, after all; he was trying to cheer her up. "Did you ever see one of these phoenixes?" He asked after a moment of silence, head tilted to the side as he spoke. He wondered what they looked like. If they were big or small, predators or prey, if he would ever see one in his lifetime.

"Riddlemask's your brother?" Adderpaw had never met the tom before (he would've remembered the name for sure), but from what he'd followed of Phoenixpaw's words, that was what he understood. Perhaps her brother was nice as well, Adderpaw could've used a few more good friends. ThunderClan apprentices were nice enough, but not all of them could handle him. He could get on their nerves pretty easily. Thankfully, so far, it seemed like Phoenixpaw was able to handle him pretty well. She hadn't yelled at him yet, anyway.

He wasn't actually sure why he was named after an adder. He'd never seen one of the snakes before; he wasn't sure what they looked like. If Phoenixpaw had seen one, she'd probably know about that. "I don't, huh?" He mewed, voice growing thoughtful as he spoke. He glanced down at himself as though he could picture the snake itself through his own appearance.

"Yeah, I'm not sure why I got my prefix, then. It's probably something that my parents liked, I'd assume... don't know if I'll ever find out, though," He mewed, adding the last part after a second. His Mom was long-gone, and his Dad... well, Adderpaw didn't know enough about his Dad to find him. Hopefully, he'd learn more about his past at some point.

They should know that not everyone is just a warrior! His was brimming with contempt and hostility, and thoughts of ripping Cherrybubble's head clean off filled his mind. Cherrybubble had never been so rudely shoved. She was a cat who demanded respect and attention, so having some cat do that to her only got her blood boiling more. Especially if it was some entitled Shadowclan bee-brain. She was grateful when Tallmarsh snapped at the tom for his behavior, and she raised her head with a smug smile. Stepping closer to the black tabby, Cherrybubble growled at Shadestripe, tail lashing. “If he needs a wound to practice healing, I’ll gladly give him one.” She meowed, green eyes slitted and gaze flickering, a teasingly malicious grin on her face. “Let me tell you this Beebrain, no cat on Thunderclan soil deserves respect unless they give some first.” She hissed, before her gaze turned gentle as she looked at Tallmarsh. “Do you wanna be left alone with this trespasser Snowflake? Or should I stick around?” Her gaze turned hard as she returned it to the Shadowclan cat, tail still lashing.

(I hope some of y'all are interested in the enemy cat in your camp!)
And, uh- I'm kind of hungry. Is there anything that I can eat?" Hopefully a mouse. I like mice. I'll tell her, just in case. "I prefer mice."
Shadestripe nodded and began to parade over to the medicine den, shameless, when-

He smiled at the Thunderclan warrior. ¨Thank you!¨ He took the mouse in his jaws, nodded to the other tom and darted away to catch up with Cherrybubble, tail flying out behind him. In truth, Shadestripe knew he was in no danger. A warm feeling was in his heart, as though nothing bad could happen. As if nothing bad could ever happen. The Shadowclan tom had taken no notice of Cherrybubble´s disrespect- It was insignificant. That, and his mind had been elsewhere! He was perfectly comfortable in Thunderclan´s camp, or at least as comfortable as he could be in a place he´d never been in.

(Sorry it´s a bit short.)

The faint scent of an unfamiliar cat had wafted into the medicine den, drawing Tallmarsh out to investigate. She stopped when she pushed her way through the entrance and came face-to-face with Cherrybubble. “Oh, Sparky,” she said, eyes lighting up. “What’s going on? Why do I smell-“ She stopped and narrowed her eyes when she spotted Shadestripe. This was the source of the ShadowClan stench. “Why are you in our camp?” she growled.

Cherrybubble sent Tallmarsh a smile when she’d poked her head out of the den, but had then resumed to glaring at the tomcat beside her. “Beebrain here says he’s the new Shadowclan medicine cat. I didn’t even know Agaveheart had... died? Stepped down? Well she’s gone apparently.” Cherrybubble turned so she could stand next to Tallmarsh, tail lashing. She was upset with the fact that Riddlemask had simply given the tomcat a mouse, but she wasn’t going to argue with him. The last thing Thunderclan needed right now was to be arguing among themselves.
“Anyways he just walked in here like he owns the place and I’m sure Flintstar won’t be happy about it when he gets back from patrol.” The black-and-white warrior murmured, eyes narrowing at the Shadowclan tom. “He told me he needed to see you.” Cherrybubble was definitely not comfortable with that.

She hissed, just loud enough for them to hear, then cleared her throat. He'll just need a lesson or two then... She thought angrily to herself. She cleared her throat again, louder this time.
"I'm not a kit, you mouse-brain! How are you come here demanding us to teach you and then threaten us with violence!? We should be the ones kicking you out of this territory!

There was a noticeable change in the young she-cat demeanor at his first question. Her shoulders slumped just a little and bright orange eyes dimmed themselves as she momentary withdrew into herself. Grief caught her off guard and cause this hole in her heart that is the shape of the one she lost. She shook it off, it was done and nothing she could do about it now. "Just once for an instant." She breathed, with a faint faraway glint in her eyes. "I'm not even sure if it was really there or not, but it seemed real to me." She took a seat and shrugged her shoulders.

She lightened up as her older brother was brought up. "Yup, Riddlemask is my older brother.....well half brother. You'd like him probably, most cats like him." Even she liked him, she and Falconpaw(changed his name) owed him a lot. They wouldn't have anything if it weren't for him and his father. She had been worried about journeying all the way to the clans to meet some tom she only heard about in stories, but coming to live in Thunderclan had been the right decision, even if Falconpaw complained about all the time. Riddlemask had even taken care of them after he lost the rest of his family, she wasn't sure what drove her brother to do what he does, but she was lucky to have him.

"Nope, you really don't look like a snake. I've seen a snake before and it looked nothing like you." Phoenixpaw chirped, her mind working to picturing the apprentice as a snake. It caused her to giggle at the thought. Granted, she's only seen the end tail of a snake and it had been green. Phoenixpaw didn't really have any snakes to compare the tom too and she certainly had no clue what an Adder looked like, however, that wasn't the point here.

"Your parents don't live here either?" She wondered, intrigued by his last few words. She didn't like to pry or anything like that. Since they were learning about each other she felt the question wasn't too invasive. He could always not answer as well.

Flintstar was tired. He’d been leading for over two moons now, and he’d taken it on as a sole role, only him leading alone. He knew he needed to assign a deputy, but the thought had constantly fallen from his mind, he just didn’t see it as necessary at the moment.
Ears flat on his head, the leader glanced around the clearing, hidden in the shadow of the highpeak. His green eyes narrowed slightly as he spotted Buckbranch across the clearing, but soon he closed his eyes fully and sighed. The tomcat hadn’t caused and trouble lately, but Flintstar was still weary.
Maybe he could use some fresh air..... I sure could. With a huff, the Thunderclan leader stood, rising to his full height before making his way across the clearing to Buckbranch.
“Hey there Buttercup. You wanna go get some air?” He gave a small smirk, nothing friendly, but nothing particularly threatening either. Something more like a challenge. Flintstar knew he could keep Buckbranch under control if he wanted to try and funny business.

He bent his neck to given his chest fur a quick lick, but a voice made him jump and spin around. At first he thought it was Mountaingrowl, but he relaxed when he realized it was only Flintstar.

Then a needle of suspicion pricked at the back of his neck. What could the leader want? He seemed to be suggesting a walk, a peaceful mid-day excursion. Buckbranch studied Flintstar for a moment, looking for any hint of malice, but could find none. His fur smoothed. "Yes," he said, voice sounding incredibly relieved. "Yes, I'd love a chance to stretch my legs."

She stood up and stepped away from the darkness to stay out in the open. There was no way she was going to show weakness of losing her mate. He had cheated on her with another she-cat and it made her feel sad that somebody would do something like that instead of talking to her about it.

Ashenrain sat down in the middle of the clearing, looking around to see if a cat would like to talk to her. She felt a tightness in her belly, knowing what it was. She didn't want anyone thinking 'poor Ashenrain' and she didn't want other cats thinking there was a reason why he cheated on her. Ashenrain shook the thoughts away and just sat there. Roaringthunder sat as cats bustled to and fro, his eyes fraught with exhaustion from last nights adventure and shoulders slumped from the mental and physical strain he’d suffered. He was never one to adapt quickly, tending to linger as long as he could in the past before he had to get moved forward. He blinked his eyes bringing with it a gentle yawn to touch his lips.
It was good that they’d taken territory for themselves, and at the same time quite dangerous for the future. In a sense there was no right or wrong answer. With the lack of territory that’s salvageable some may starve and windclan would be none the wiser. Though if they do, which they had, there was possibility for retaliation and perhaps even the new leader would back down and allow them to have it. His ears flattened at the thought, Blazingstar had been a masterful leader one who charged forward and yet Buttercup- or Brightstar it was now seemed more on the gentle side. Would her pity towards their sunken eyes he overlooked? He lingered on the thought briefly before tossing his head back in an elongated stretch releasing the pressure from his muscles and dropping into a lengthy stretch. He needn’t fret with it much longer, all this thinking was bound to give him a headache or make him loony. The tom smiled and returned to a seated position before drawing his tongue over his lips and tilting his head back. Perhaps a walk or scout of the new territory would do him well.

Tallmarsh stomped into the den, confused and frustrated with this tom. She was not looking forward to teaching him. Spinning around she snapped, "I don't know what's up with you, but one more outburst and you can find help elsewhere. In ThunderClan we don't tolerate cats coming in and threatening us." She gave him a stern look and turned back around to look at the herb wall with a sigh. "We lost almost all of the herb store to the fire. I won't be able to teach you two much without a new store," she explained.

A fiery pelted she-cat with vibrant green eyes was casually moving around the camp. Honestly, she was rather bored, she was a little disappointed that she not had spoken up to come on that patrol Flintstar led, it would have been quite the adventure. She had mixed feelings about stealing territory just so Thunderclan survived. It was wrong, she knew it was wrong, and she was sure the cats in the sky thought it wrong as well. Yet, letting the clan suffer wasn't right either but were they just making another clan suffer by stealing their land. Wildfire didn't like it, somewhere in her mind she had held Thunderclan in higher esteem. She always thought Thunderclan had fair-minded cats, that there was no other Clan in the forest so true or so brave, a clan full of heroes. She was still naive and kittenish in mind apparently, since she was wrong. Reality made life unfun.

Her bright emerald eyes found a tom sitting by his lonesome. He was one of the cats who had joined the patrol to Windclan. While she didn't really approve of what was going on, there was little she could do to change it and she did want to hear about their patrol went. "Are you bored?" She asked padding up to Roaringthunder as if they've been the best of friends. "You look bored, you should come hunting with me. It'll be fun!" The bouncy and adventurous she-cat made almost everything fun if she could, so long as they got their task done she didn't see why she could entertain herself while doing it.

Irispaw stole a look at Shadestripe. What had happened before hand must have been enough to make Tallmarsh snap... She'd never seen her mentor mad. And she was glad she hadn't. She wandered up to the remaining herbs, tilting her head on thought.
"We could always go out to look for herbs. That way we could learn and supply your storage!" She offered, her face lighting up with the new idea. She glanced up at Tallmarsh shyly.
"That's your decision though, of course."

Roaringthunder perked up a voice that briefly interrupted his zone out his golden yellow eyes drifted down to the flame coloured feline briefly, a friendly warmth crossed his gaze. “N-“ he paused as she came up nice and close and his ears gently flattened against the sides of his head not in irritation but slight surprise. “No, I was just deciding whether or not to go out” he mrrowed softly curling his tail around his paws. He was surprised that some seemed so peppy despite the unrest amongst clan mates. It was peculiar but also amusing. Those who kept those tensions buried behind lovely smiles and friendly invites. It only reminded him that those overly optimistic cats were vital to the clan, of all warriors were hard headed and violent they’d come to a quick and swift end. Though the optimism and joy of others kept most at bay- for the time being. He blinked back out of thought before she spoke again. Her enthusiasm was slightly off putting though he didn’t think to much on it.

“Sure why not” he said softly offering a sweet smile before standing. The tom towered over her significantly as he padded towards the entrance of camp. “Sorry I don’t think I’ve caught your name- though I do believe I’ve seen you around” he said quietly sweeping his large tail behind him as they headed for the open forest. The scent of ash and death still embraced them with that cold unforgiving feeling.

Blossomclaw padded into camp boredly. Not so ever fond of the patrol that she had attended, the orange she-cat glanced around for a distraction. None stuck out to her, but that could just be her lavk of an imagination. Instead she trotted into a shady spot and tried doing anything she could to take her mind off it, or at least convice herself it was for the better of the clan. Only one thought put her mind at ease, as she glanced towards the nursery with a small smile. This would be better for the future of the kits. Maybe it wasn't too bad, as long as no fighting got involved. Deciding the best of it, Blossomclaw started to clean her extremly fluffy tail, as it always dragged and got dirty when she was depressed. All the while wondering what it would be like to start living with the new territory. As long as she remembered, had they ever expanded? No idea, but who cares. It doesn't matter now. All that matters is that Windclan doesn't hurt any kits if they want the land back. With a sigh, she made up her kind to keep a closer eye on the new borders. Best to keep any wandering younglings away from there for the time being.

He was full of buzzing nerves as he stepped into the medicine den, planning ti make a decision that would possibly change a lot of things. But it would also help a lot of things.
“Tallmarsh, I have something to discuss with you.” He announced as he stepped into the den. Both tomcats looked matted an bloodied, looking like they just fought a badger. Which... well, they had. “First off, badger attack. But Buckbranch and I were able to chase it off with no casualties. He needs some healing, his ear’s messed up pretty bad.” Flintstar had noticed the tom’s torn ear, much like many of his other injuries. He then began to pace the den, his posture ringing with the authority he had begun to exert since becoming the leader. He would have Tallmarsh heal Buckbranch first, Flintstar believed he would be fine. He had nine lives to spare, but he doubted he’d die at this point. His head hurt, and he had quite the few scratches but other than being light-headed he was fine. “Irispaw should come over here so she can learn how to heal some battle wounds, and I don’t mind her listening in on our conversation. Which you’re included in as well.” He sent the last part of his sentence to Buckbranch, before continuing to pace as he awaited for Tallmarsh’s signal for him to continue.

Buckbranch followed Flintstar in, lingering close behind in case the leader decided to almost topple over again. He'd never been inside of the medicine den before, and the overwhelming scents of the herbs stung his nose. As Flintstar began to pace, he scooted into a corner and began to wash the drying blood from his paws.
His good ear flicked forward in interest and he glanced up, tongue still halfway out of his mouth as he stared at Flintstar. What was there to talk about? Obviously Irispaw would need to be there - she was the medicine cat apprentice, after all. Unless there was something else... was he in trouble again? He had a sharp impulse to call for Sunsnow, but quickly dismissed the thought. No, that was silly. If he really was in trouble, Flintstar wouldn't need a medicine cat and an apprentice to deal with Buckbranch, because Flintstar could do it himself. He drew his paw once over his ruined ear and wrapped his tail around his paws, trying to ignore the throbbing pain.

As he spoke, she made her way over to Buckbranch to assess the damage. He was running his paw over his ear when she reached him, and she batted away his paw. "Don't touch it! You could get an infection," she ordered. Turning to the direction of her apprentice, she called out, "Irispaw, get some damp moss for me, please!" She nodded to the dip on the ground where water had been collected with a small pile of moss beside it. "I should have just enough dandelion and goldenrod for a paste," she muttered to herself. Shadestripe was fine.

He was perfectly fine.

Or so he told himself.

Flintstar and Buckbranch had spoken of a badger. Maybe even the badger.

But no, Shadestripe was fine.

His ears were ringing, his heart was thudding, and his vision was dotted with black, but he swore to himself that he. Was. Fine.

And then... darkness.

Mother was scared. He could tell as she shoved him into the bushes. He could tell by the panic in her eyes, the smell of fear radiating from her. "Stay." She said. So Shadestripe- no, Shadekit stayed. He stayed still and quiet. Why is mother scared? He didn't know. At least, he didn't know until a huge, dark shape lumbered out of the shadows. A badger. He'd heard of them in whispered stories, of how they killed cats with a single bite or a swipe of their claws. Still, he was quiet. He knew Mother was the best warrior in all the clans, of course she could take on a measly badger! His green eyes widened, excited to see a real live battle. He couldn't understand why Mother was shaking. She must just be scared for me. Then the badger leaped, and his mother shrieked. She shrieked so horribly as the badger tore into her, tore into Mother. Mother. He wanted to cry out, he wanted to help, but he couldn't. He could only watch as the screams became choked and, eventually, stopped altogether. Mother.

She stole another glance in the direction of Shadestripe, who seemed to be staring off into space.
"Anything else, Tallmarsh?" She asked eagerly. She caught the mention of a badger, and stood stiffly.

Wildfire could be a little much, she's been told more than once by Dragonflysong to tone it down but she had a habit of tuning stuff like that out. She didn't see the point in being all mopey and dull with everyone else, that was too boring and simple for someone like her. It was nice to see the large tom wasn't too put off about her optimism. So cats were so touchy about how she should be acting, concerned, worried, troubled about the fate of the clan...blah blah blah. Wildfire dislike being overly stressed, there were older and more important cats who could worry about that.

The smile on her maw grew in size as she got a positive answer from the warrior along with a sweet smile. Normally bigger cats were kind of scary and intimidating but this one was like a big soft cuddle bear! She was sure they'd make good friends once she got him to loosen up a little. "Oh, I'm Wildfire." She laughed as she quickly took to following the tom. "Your name is Roaring...something or other." She cocked her head to the side as she tried to remember the last part. "Don't tell me!" She added swiftly with a thoughtful expression. "Is it Bear? Or Storm or Lightning..." She drifted off with a gentle frown. "Okay, I give up tell me." Her shorter legs picked up their pace so she was striding right beside the tom instead of behind him.

I just hope she’ll approve of my choice... a deputy is kinda like a leader’s apprentice... kind of? He sat down and stopped his pacing as to not disturb Tallmarsh and Irispaw as they worked. “Well, as you can see, the badger put up a fight. It was starving, probably hoping to make a meal out of Buttercup here and I.” He winked at Buckbranch with a smirk before continuing, eyes growing wide and animated. “And it was stinky! You could never imagine how filthy badgers smell.” After he told that to Irispaw, he turned his attention to Tallmarsh. “Yes, we ran it out, it’s gone deeper into the outskirts. The corners of his mouth turned upward in a small smirk. "But it was also very dangerous. If you ever find yourself facing a badger alone, don't try to fight it. Climb a tree, or get help." He bent down to continue cleaning his claws, but Flintstar's next statement made his shoulder fur rise. The next deputy? Come to think of it, there hadn't been a deputy named since Flintstar became leader. Surely he can't mean me, came the jolting thought. He lifted his head again, eyes sparking with interest. It was a starving badgers, and we all know how much more aggressive they are when they’re hungry.” He then glanced at Buckbranch again, taking a deeper breath before shifting so he was facing Tallmarsh and Buckbranch. “But there’s a more important matter I would like to discuss. I think I’ve found the right cat to make my deputy.” After a few moons of contemplating and searching, Flintstar had never felt so oddly sure about the decision he was going to make.

Buckbranch jumped and lowered his paw, offering Tallmarsh a sheepish smile of apology. "Sorry," he mumbled. "Just stings a little." He turned his attention to Irispaw, admiring the young she-cat's eagerness but also facing her with a bit of warning in his eyes. "It certainly was smelly," he meowed, glancing at Flintstar. The surprise was already fading. No, Flintstar didn't mean him. After the whole fiasco in the clearing, the leader didn't have any reason to trust Buckbranch.

Irispaw watched as the two cats spoke. Flintstar seemed more easygoing, whereas Buckbranch seemed kind but cautious. They contrasted each other very well, at least, she thought so. She smiled in awe at every word, admiration seeping through her pelt.
"Thanks for the tip, Buckbranch! I'll try that if I ever see a badger. And-" She felt herself almost stutter. She got nervous around older cats. "-you two must have been super brave. I don't think I have the courage to do any of that." She complimented, dipping her head respectfully. She turned back to the herb wall, ready to grab any extras if Tallmarsh needed anything. She heard 'deputy', and spun around in interest. Flintstar is choosing a deputy?

After he'd discussed certain matters in the medicine den with Tallmarsh, Flintstar stepped out, trying not to disturb the mess of poultices plastered on his pelt. His ears pressed against his head as the cold winds battered him, not that it penetrated through his thick fur much at all. He was still sore from the fight with the badger, but other than that, Flintstar was feeling great. Spotting Adderfrost underneath an overhanging rock at the edge of the clearing, the leader made his way over. "Hey there Adderfrost." The tomcat meowed with a friendly smile, sitting down next to the other cat. "Mind if I join you for a minute?"

Adderfrost looked over at the voice, seeing Flintstar. "Of course not." The small siamese tom purred, shifting to get comfy. He looked over at Flint. "I'm really glad I can help the clan. I mean, I'm not noticed much as it is. But I try my best for the clan." He gazed at Flintstar with his large blue eyes. "I hope you've been well. it must be stressful leading the clan."

This was it. Flintstar had delayed it for so long, that doing so now had started to make him nervous of his choice. He already knew the clan would most likely react badly. But what else could he do? Buckbranch had proven his loyalty to Flintstar, and Flintstar believed that this position would allow Buckbranch to prove his loyalty to Thunderclan.

But before he got to that, there were a couple other things he had to attend to. Leaping up to the highpeak, Flintstar let out a yowl. "Let all Thunderclan cats gather here beneath the highpeak!" He sat and waited for a moment, watching as his clanmembers gathered beneath him.
"I have some ceremonies to conduct tonight! But first, there are a few apprentices that need to be assigned mentors. Mosspaw, Geckopaw, [ Starfall ] and Moonpaw, please step forward." He waited for the three apprentices to step forwards, scanning the crowd to make sure he could spot the mentors they would be assigned.

He looked up from his meal with an irritated scowl. Really? Now? You wait so long to do this and then you just suddenly decide to do it right as I'm eating. How absolutely spectacular. Stupid furball. Songthorn snorted and quickly gobbled down the prey before pulling himself to his paws and walking to stand closer to the Highpeak. His eyes rolled as he sat down with a thump, tail curling around his paws as he stared boredly at Flintstar. What little nuisances are going to become apprentices today? And which of these apprentices are coming to take up even more space in the warrior's den?

Athena scrambled after the leader she had just met, her brother no doubt at her heels. Everything was a whir of motion still in her head and she panted to catch her breath. She marvelled at Flintstar. How can he run so fast and look like it wasn't even hard? she thought from her spot in the gathering clan. She had settled off behind all of the other cats, unsure of how to approach them. She hadn't expected there to be so many cats! She looked back for her brother, suddenly feeling not as courageous as she had sprinting through the pines shortly before and wanting some familiar comfort.

Moonpaw followed the other cats gathering in the clearing, ears perked as she tried to wiggle her way into a spot where she could clearly see the front. When the leader called her name the young cat stepped forward, eyes bright. She knew this would be her getting a new mentor, and she was excited for that prospect. Flintstar hadn't officially assigned her a mentor when she'd joined the clan, but she'd been able to jump in on training practices with other apprentices and their mentors.

Foxbound was hiding in the shadows of the far clearing, near an area where a lot of burnt waste had been piled up and pushed off to the side of the clearing. It smelt terrible and was crumbly and dusty, but no one else came over here, and so it was a good way for Foxbound to avoid others. When Flintstar called for the clan to gather, the ginger she-cat hesitated a moment, debating if it would be worth it or not to get up and go gather with the rest of the clan. In the end, she caved, pushing herself to her paws and plodding over to seat herself near the edge of the crowd of cats, orange eyes downcast as she simply intended to listen.

Buckbranch crept from the comfort of the medicine den. The cobwebs plastered over his ear and under his eye shimmered in the light as he emerged from the shadowy branches. His paws were shaking- not from excitement, but from nervousness. He swept his wide-eyed gaze quickly around the clearing, spying Mountaingrowl - the sight of the giant tom sent his heart into his throat -, a pair of cats he didn't recognize, and a pretty ginger she-cat. He remained fixated on her for a moment, before realizing his jaw was hanging slightly open amd that he was staring, and snapped his attention back to Flintstar. The black tom looked so confident, so regal standing atop the rock. It made Buckbranch feel small, and insignificant. How would he ever fill the leader's pawprints?

Well, there's no time to think about that now, he told himself. He squared his shoulders and padded over, choosing a spot close to the she-cat. A speech was already forming in his mind, in case any of the Clan jumped forward to challenge Flintstar's decision. In case they decided to bring up the disturbance at the last Clan meeting. He told himself he was going to be civil and calm and leaderly, and if any cat tried to fight him he would not, under no circumstances, raise his voice or his claws against them. He wound his tail tightly around his paws and took a breath, momentarily closing his eyes. This is your moment, Buttercup. Enjoy it.

Merlin gasped for breath as he trotted into the camp beside his sister. He had made it! Flintstar had challenged them, seeing if they could keep up, but the two former kittypets had followed his scent without a problem. The cold ground chilled his paw pads and his fur was wet from the sleet and snow, but the adrenaline pumping through his veins was keeping him plenty warm. He was here, and now that big cat was talking to the whole clearing! He huddled up next to Athena as he waited with bated breath to hear what Flintstar had to say.

Smolderingbreeze snuck quietly into the ranks of his fellow clanmates gathered beneath the Highpeak, politely excusing himself as he brushed passed others before eventually settling down with his head craned towards Flintstar. He liked listening to the ceremonies, cats were generally excited, it was when new warriors were made, new apprentices made, old warriors retired and given the rest they deserved. It was an all around good time!
With an easy-going grin on his muzzle, he briefly took a survey of the cats around him, trying to get a general feel of the mood, how other cats were doing. That's when he got an eye of a few new cats he hadn't seen around, they seemed rather out of breath and a little well groomed. The tip of his tail curled curiously, surely Flintstar would explain them. And if he didn't, he would go introduce himself. He liked meeting new cats, especially loners and kittypets not used to clan life. He wanted to be that kind face that greeted them, give them a nice warm welcome. He was a laid back cat and made a pretty good greeter, or at least he liked to think so. His suffix breeze was for his easy going, cool attitude, how adaptable to change he was. Flicking his tail, he saved the thought for later before focusing back up at Flintstar.

The bright ginger she-cat had pushed in around her clanmates to take a seat in the middle of the gathering. Wildfire had no clue what it was about, yet enjoyed being here among her clanmates regardless. Most meetings were pretty fun anyway. She kept her ears lifted, eagerly awaiting the news that would be given. Her eyes roamed as she waited, noticing that there were some cats here that she didn't know. Wildfire wasn't the greatest with names or anything like that, but she knew pelts and faces and with that, she knew some of these cats just didn't belong. Maybe they were new clanmates and friends! The older tom drew his tongue over his maw as he silently wondered whatever became of the Shadowclan cat that came into camp. He hadn't stuck around to see what happened to him and had gone hunting instead. The senior warrior's mismatched eyes drifted around the clearing, faintly wondering if he should go find his siblings. Dragonflysong and Phoenixpaw were probably keeping themselves busy, he had no clue what Falconpaw was up to, and Wildfire was Wildfire so he was sure he'd hear from someone what she was doing.

He was debating on taking a nap or see if anything needed to be done when he noticed the small cat sitting outside the nursery. Riddlemask had avoided the nursery like it would give him the plague, he had a few good memories there but whenever he looked at the den all he remembered was the light fading from his mate's eyes as she joined their kits in Silverpelt. He wasn't keen on going over there, although it wasn't like he could ignore the kit either. With a sharp exhale, he got off his butt and walked over the kit. "How come you're sitting out here by yourself?" He questioned as he made sure to make his steps loud so she knew he was coming. "Where's your mother, little one?"

Bored, bored, even more bored. Wildfire was currently on the ground with all four paws in the air looking at the cats in the clearing with great boredom. No one wanted to play with her, Roaringthunder had been fun for a little bit but now she had nothing to do...again! Oh! Wait one second! She had an apprentice now. Rolling back onto her paws, Wildfire shot up and gave her pelt a firm shake before darting off to find Amberpaw. Between the two of them, they should come up with something entertaining to do.

Frostedkit sat outside the nursery, her blind gaze looked in front off her. The white cat sat there all alone without a queen around her. They either didn't know she was there or they just didn't care. The kitten heard a loud voice and she shrunk low to the ground. Frostedkit shivered, thinking this cat was way bigger than she was. "Nobody wants to take care of me.", she meowed, her voice quivering. The blind kit puffed out her fluffy white fur as a cold wind brushed past her. "My mother isn't here. She hurled herself at her mentor with a shrill “hi wildfire.” She still wasn’t used to calling wildfire her mentor but she was sure she’d get used to it soon. Damned thing ripped off my ear." He gestured to the poulticed stump on the left side of his head. Riddlemask felt a little bad for scaring the kit as he took a seat in front of her, lowering himself down to her level so it was easier to hear and see her. He was mildly surprised to see that her eyes were clouded over, blind. It didn't bother him at all, he's heard of a rare few cats who managed or were trying to make warrior even with disabilities. He grew overly concerned when he learned she had no one taking care of her? Strange, even orphaned kits often had a queen to watch over them until they reached the age of an apprentice. It made a little more sense once she explained where her parents were, one dead and the other seemingly abandoned her. He could sympathize to a point. "What's your name? I'm Riddlemask." He introduced himself, moving a little closer to her to use his bulk to block the wind.

As she spoke, she moved to her limited herb store, picking out two small bundles—dandelion and goldenrod. “That’s good. We really don’t need a badger on our territory right now,” she said as she began to separate a few of the plants from their bundles. Two of the apprentices were probably still lingering in the crowd, but Flintstar decided move on. Their assigned mentors would find them eventually. “Moonpaw, your new mentor is to be Songthorn.” He nodded to the tom in the crowd, gesturing for Moonpaw to make her way over to him. “Geckopaw, your mentor will be Honeybrume. And Mosspaw, yours will be Sunsnow.” He figured giving Sunsnow an apprentice would give the tom something to do, since he would no longer have to look after Buckbranch.

Then Flintstar grinned brightly, smiling at the two young kittypets he’d led to the clan a bit earlier. They looked slightly out of breath and disheveled, but both had a bright-eyed curiosity about them. He’d already decided who to place as their mentors, to give them a good feel for clan life right from the start.
“Now, there are two new apprentices I’d like to introduce to Thunderclan. Athena, Merlin, please step forward.” He waited for a moment, tail flicking excitedly. He was making quite a few rash decisions tonight, but he believed letting two Kittypets into the clan to train as warriors would prove to be a good decision more than a bad one. “Athena and Merlin are two kittypets looking for life as a clan cat. As Thunderclan has lost many of its warriors in the fire, and we need all the strength we can get, I’ve allowed them to come join the clan and begin their training as apprentices.” Flintstar shifted atop the rock so he could lean further over, looking down at the two cats. “Athena, from this point forward, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Pinepaw. Your mentor will be Whisperingfeather, I trust her to train you well.” He nodded at the new apprentice, then turned to her brother. “Merlin, from this point forward, until you want your warrior name, you will be known as Pantherpaw. I will be your mentor.” To give the young tom some reassurance he leaped down to touch noses with him, giving him a reassuring smile. After that was done, the leader returned to his place atop the highpeak to finish the ceremonies.

Ever (oop, whispering is a tom, not a molly! :) )

Whisperingfeather gave a purr, ceremonies were interesting enough and he seemed to enjoy them. What truly intrigued the siamese-like tom was the former kittypets. Thunderclan is taking in kittypets now? We cant be that vulnerable. He thought to himself, then thought again, They are very young. Maybe thus was the best time for them to join. [I] tail swaying absentmindedly as he dug into thought. With a twitch of his brown tinted nose he took in the scents of the newcomers, nose scrunching. [I] Definitely Kittypet. He thought nodding to himself.

Eagerness rose in his belly as he called.. Athena over. What kind if cat would get the honor of training these kittypets, which it seemed Flintstar himself approved of. He listened to the words his leader spoke, smiling at the the new name. Pinepaw. he repeated in his head with a kind smile at the kittype- no. No longer was this she confined to the nests if the twolegs. With her new name, Pinepaw, she was now officially a wild cat. A qild cat of Thunderclan.

The next words ripped him away from his thoughts with such force he actually shook his head in surprise. "Your mentor will be Whisperingfeather." Again, the echo of a name, his own rang in his head as if there were no brain stopping it. Whisperingfeather, Whisperingfeather.. Taking a minute to soak in this information, his chest suddenly swelled with pride. Him! He was chosen to mentor the newcomers. Excitment filled his eyes making them wide as saucers.

Quickly, the tom calmed himself and stood on his brown paws. Professionalism was important, first impressions last forever. He padded calmly in the direction of his apprentice. "Pinepaw, I am Whisperingfeather. " His name made since, his fur was like a qhite feather with brown tips, and his voice was a normal male pitch, yet quieter. He leaned down to touch noses to with his apprentice.

Pinepaw found it hard to remember her own name. Everything was so new. She turned away from her brother and towards her mentor. Whisperingfeather. She looked up at the Tom as he approached, he introduced himself and leaned down to greet her. She stood tall as she touched her nose to his, pulled back and giving him a large grin. Her golden eyes crinkled.

"It's nice to meet you Whisperingfeather." Quite a long name.. She thought but refused to say it. She 2as too new still, she couldn't start joking around yet. What if she offended someone. Her tail twitched nervously. "I'm not really sure about much of anything around here. We only just arrived- my brother and I." She glanced back at Merlin, already longing to be back in the comfort of his side, this was all beginning to get a little overwhelming.

You can do this Athe- Pinepaw! She swallowed her doubts and turned back to her mentor, ears tipping to the sides a little. She needed to learn. The quicker, the better. "Maybe you can show me around? I don't even know where I'm sleeping tonight." She chuckled softly and tipped her ears off to the sided.

Whisperingfeather noticed the apprentice standing tall. Very good, this apprentice isnt arrogant. He nodded to himself, finding the tilt of her ears amusing. The small she was beginning to look nervous, and he didnt want to to feel uncomfortable, so like any caring figure he brushed his tongue gently between the apprentices ears in a friendly manner. "Dont you worry, everything will be fine." He purred gently.

"And to meet you as well." He dipped his head. Her twitching tail told him about her nerves and he sat infront of her, his siamese-like fur matching his elegant posture. He himself was clean and tidy, though was born in Thunderclan looked like a showcat. He always kept tidy, no matter what. His beliefs centered in presentation alot, the tom seemed like the type to come back from the dead and clean battle blood off his pretty white fur. Just to be presentable. (Figuratively of course.)

Taking in his apprentices words he nodded. "Of course, youre feeling overwhelmed aren't you? Well not to worry, I will teach you all the clan customs you'd need to know." He reassured. Of course! She had to sleep tonight!! he thought to himself at her question where she was sleeping. "Of course, of course, this way." He said, standing and easily navigating through the crowd who'd came to witness the gathering towards the apprentice den. (Continue there?)

Unfortunately for Buckbranch and Sunsnow, Mountaingrowl hadn't missed the part of their discussion about the badger attack. He did miss the murmur about trusting Flintstar, but even if he had caught it he wouldn't have cared. Flintstar had proven himself to be weak-hearted. Buckbranch remaining here was proof of that. "A damn shame it didn't take your head off too, pansy. Would've gone the Clan a world of good to not worry about your snake-tail."

Songthorn's nose scrunched up as his name was announced as a mentor. He blinked and reluctantly stood, bounding over to the apprentice. Now I'll have a little cat of my own following me around. How absolutely utterly fantastic. The small brown tabby stifled the urge to roll his eyes and looked at Moonpaw, disinterest in his gaze. "It's a pleasure to be your new mentor," Songthorn said sarcastically, his tail flicking. The rude tom leaned forward to press his nose to Moonpaw's, a frown twisting at his lips.
At the announcement of new apprentices joining the Clan, he couldn't help but to roll his eyes. Lovely. More annoying little brats just leading up to filling the den and making it even more cramped. He sighed and stared down his apprentice, racking his irritated mind for what to do. "Where is your training at? I need to know where to start," he inquired.

Minkpaw had been listening quietly as the ceremonies continued, nothing out of the ordinary. That was until Flintstar reached the kittypets joining. She had no problem with that but this Pantherpaw. He was going to be Flintstar's apprentice? She was his apprentice! Worry and confusion surged though her body. Was he going to give her a new mentor because he was tired of her? Or was she in trouble for something?
When her name was called Minkpaw jumped slightly. Well whatever was going to happen would happen. Standing up the brown molly made her way to the Highpeak, stopping at the base. With a slightly puzzled look Mink glanced up at her mentor, if he was even that anymore.

(Sorry, I missed you post since you didn't mention me or quote my post :D)

Cranerose fluffed up her pelt happily, glad that the cat wanted to go out for a walk too. "If you'd like, we could go down to the beach. I always like watching the waves flow back and forth in the night and morning, and you can see the stars clearly from there," she said dreamily, still a little sleepy. She tilted her head and watched Sharpclaw, as she waited for his reaction.

Buckbranch jumped again, this time spinning around to face his antagonizer. He opened his jaws to snap something in reply, then apparently thought better of it, because he only fixed Mountaingrowl with a burning glare and sat back down. Though he tried to sound brave, there was a hint of fear in his eyes as he spoke, and he shuffled closer to Sunsnow. "I'm sorry this news of my non-death does not bring you joy," he retorted, voice level but icy. "Maybe next time I'll try harder to be decapitated. Would that please you, Mountainstar?" He flicked his tail, the terror gone from the green depths of his eyes. Soon he would be made deputy, and Mountaingrowl could do nothing. The giant tom may have been intimidating, but after Flintstar made the announcement, that's all the gray warrior would have against Buckbranch.

He saw the worry on his apprentice’s face as she stepped forward, and Flintstar knew she must be slightly confused. But, he continued without breaking a stride, holding his head up and letting his voice drift across the entire camp.
“I, Flintstar, leader of Thunderclan call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn.” He then met eyes with Minkpaw, encouragement shining within them. “Minkpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?”

”I do.”

“Then, by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Minkpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Minktail. Starclan honors your intelligence and perseverance, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan.” He leaped down from the highpeak once more and placed his nose on Minktail’s head, waiting for a moment before stepping back and calling out her name with the rest of the clan. He couldn’t be more proud of her, she had come a long way. But there was one more ceremony he had to conduct.

Back up to the highpeak. Before his clan could scatter to their dens for the night, Flintstar called out to them, at the top of the highpeak once more. “Alright so I’ve got one more ceremony to conduct, and then you all can go to bed.” He joked, tail flicking. This was the ceremony he was most nervous about, and he’d tried to ease some of his own nerves, but they were still buzzing around. He knew his clan was probably going to think he wasn’t out of his mind after this. They probably already do. He was just hoping Buckbranch could prove them wrong.

Scum like you don't deserve to be in a Clan, let alone pampered because our leader is too much of a coward to put you down like the dog you are." Mountaingrowl hadn't forgotten Flintstar's inaction, his unwillingness to silence the traitor before he became more of a liability to the Clan.

No matter what Buckbranch tried to do, it would never redeem his behavior in Mountaingrowl's eyes.

Now that Flintstar was calling the ungrateful piece of crowfood, maybe he'd finally kick him out of ThunderClan for good. Anything else would be a disgrace to ThunderClan's honor.

With a sigh, and a silent stream of curses launched at Mountaingrowl, Buckbranch collected his thoughts and rose to his feet. His tail was still, hanging limply behind him as he approached the Highpeak. This was his moment. No one could ruin this for him, not even Mountaingrowl.

A sudden thought slammed into him so hard he visibly stumbled to a halt. His eyes fixed on the ground, wide with fear. Was Flintstar really going to name him deputy? Or was this just a farce, a ploy to embarrass him and kick him out? Sure, Buckbranch had helped Flintstar fend off the badger, but at the first opportunity, before that moment of hesitation, Buckbranch had run from the scene. Surely Flintstar hasn't missed that. Surely it was proof of his disloyalty.

No, he told himself. Flintstar wouldn't do anything like that. He's honest and he's honorable. So, trembling, he forced himself to continue to the edge of the Highpeak, though he couldn't help but cast a glance at the she-cat as he passed her. What would she think of Flintstar's decision? Would she support it, or rise against it like he suspected everyone else would? Whatever it was, there was no time to think about it. He was standing in front of the Highpeak now. This was it. The moment he'd been waiting for. As deputy, he could finally make a difference.

Tallmarsh nodded to Irispaw in thanks. “I just need you to dab the water onto the wound. Try to get off as much blood as you can,” she instructed her apprentice. As she spoke, she moved to her limited herb store, picking out two small bundles—dandelion and goldenrod. “That’s good. We really don’t need a badger on our territory right now,” she said as she began to separate a few of the plants from their bundles. The medicine cat put the bundles back in their places and began to chew the herbs into a paste for Buckbranch’s ear. At the mention of a deputy, Tallmarsh glanced at Buckbranch, then back at Flintstar. “Who have you chosen?”

Irispaw nodded, grabbing the wad of moss. It felt strange in her jaws, the sopping fuzz dropping water as she went. She padded carefully up to the leader and warrior, making sure she didn't spill too much water. She gently dabbed the moss into their wounds, the scarlet blood slinging up. She sighed in relief as it was slowly drained for the cuts, and turned to work on the smaller ones. Her ears perked up, listening to the ongoing conversation.

Pinepaw frowned as her mentor gave her what she believed was supposed to be comforting
lick between her ears. It had felt odd getting comfort from a cat other than her brother. She took a deep breath as she followed him away from the highpeak and towards a den. She had never seen a wild cat's sleeping area, but she was glad to see that it appeared well enough sheltered from the weather. She glanced back at her brother once more, making sure to keep her expression cool and relaxed rather than nervous before disappearing into the den after her mentor.

Her emotions were really giving her some trouble. Pinepaw had always been a bit of a spitfire, teasing and a little mean around the edges. She liked to be in charge and was always confident in herself. This newness had really thrown her off her paws though, she only could be confident in the fact that she believed she would fit in here. Other than that she knew nothing, and there seemed to be a lot of tradition and organization that went into this clean. More than she had ever expected, not that she had ever really given it much thought- but still.

She blinked as her eyes adjusted to the alm darkness and the smells of the wild cats. So different from her kittypet life of perfumed baths and air. She looked up as her mentor led her to a scrap pile. Judging by what the other young cats laid in, she supposed it was some materials to make herself a nest. For a moment, she missed the fact that she would no longer have a plush mattress and twolegs to keep her warm. The thought of the boredom and pure meaninglessness of her old life. So she sucked in a breath and made herself stand tall as she waited for her mentor to explain and then hopefully she would be able to find Merlin- Pantherpaw again and get some sleep. It was going to take some getting used to with these new names.

Taking a deep breath, Flintstar prepared himself for what he was about to do. I’m about to name a cat I believed to be a traitor as Thunderclan’s new deputy. It sounded insane in his mind, and he doubted it would sound any better out loud. But here goes nothing.

Flintstar was sure of his choice, it was an odd feeling, but he knew that Buckbranch was who he should choose. Who he had chosen. But the leader knew his clan might not share the same view.
“It’s taken me a great deal of consideration, and thought, but believe me when I say this Thunderclan.” He gave Buckbranch a reassuring smile, proud of him for keeping his cool. He only hoped the tom could hold it out through the backlash that was sure to come. “I am sure if the choice I’ve made for deputy. Not all of you will agree with me, but in time, you may come to understand.” now, without further ado... Holding his head high, Flintstar locked eyes with Buckbranch, and then stated the words that would seal the ceremony. “I say these words before Starclan, so that the spirits of our warriors ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of Thunderclan is Buckbranch!” Flintstar left it at that, worry working in his belly as he awaited the reactions of his clanmates.

This cat threatened the well-being of our Clan repeatedly and you're making him deputy? I knew you were dull, Flintstar. Any leader with his head in the right place would've at least de-tongued this snake so he couldn't snitch to the other Clans, but you have stooped to a new low."

Why does that flea-brain keep looking at me? Foxbound didn’t like the fact that Buckbranch kept glancing her way, she would prefer if the little traitor didn’t know she existed. She would prefer he didn’t exist. Ears flat on her head she tried to ignore the looks, instead focusing on the ceremonies being conducted.
But then, the deputy ceremony came. And he had been named deputy. Foxbound’s orange eyes blew wide, and she didn’t react any further for a moment, more shocked than anything. Then her eyes narrowed and she hated her teeth, leaping up from her sitting position and glaring up at Flintstar. “Are you insane?!” She yowled, not sure how to else to take this. Flintstar had just named that flea-bitten excuse for a warrior the deputy. She’d always gotten along with Flintstar, often interacting with him due to his close knit bond with her uncle. But right now she was livid. “He’s barely loyal enough to be a warrior!” She spat, leveling Buckbranch with a hard glare.

—————

Flintstar didn’t allow himself to cower under either cat’s accusations, even though he could feel the anxiety working in his stomach. He simply gave both Foxbound and Mountaingrowl a solemn look. “I have my reasons for making this choice. As I said before, I have been made sure of my decision. And that is between Buckbranch and I.” And Starclan. If there was any time he wanted their help, it was now. Maybe give him something to show his clan he wasn’t crazy. Or Flintstar was developing poor judgement. That's what Mink was gathering by his next choice. Buckbranch? The cat who was on watch? As ThunderClan's deputy? This couldn't be right. As Flintstar finished the ceremony, a ball of pride swelled in his chest. He was deputy now, next in line to be leader! He'd accomplished something rare, something huge. How many cats could say they'd been deputy? Nothing could ruin this moment, not even Mountaingrowl.

Except, Mountaingrowl could ruin the moment, because he was doing it right now. Buckbranch shrank in on himself, hunching down among the crowd and squeezing his legs with his tail. No, they didn't want him as deputy. Why should they? He'd threatened their security, after all. But they couldn't do anything about it. Flintstar's word was law. Oh, how he wanted to scream at Mountaingrowl, but Foxbound's accusatory yowl made his voice die in his throat. He fixed the ginger cat with a shocked look, eyes wide, then looked away. He rose to his paws. I guess it's speech time.

I know you all may disapprove of Flintstar's choice." His voice rang out across the clearing, loud and shaking, though he fought to steady it. "And frankly, I'm not sure if I'm ready to handle it. You all certainly aren't helping." A quick, unnerved laugh, a fleeting glance at Sunsnow. "I threatened you, and you have every reason to hate me for it. I would, too, if I were in your position." That, of course, was a lie, most likely be obvious, but he had to convince these cats he was on their side. "But we've all made mistakes, right? Some are just bigger than others, more noticeable and far more crushing. I think i proved that. But I want to make something clear to you all: I will not stop until I have regained the trust that I lost. Hopefully it can be found sooner rather then later. I just want you all to know that I regret what happened, and I WILL make it up to you."

Oh boy. Now for the fun part. Buckbranch had to force down the smile that tried to creep onto his muzzle as he turned to face Mountaingrowl. His hackles and shoulder fur rose, but he didn't try to hide it as he addressed the giant warrior, his tone revealing just a hint of smugness. "I realize you... disagree with this outcome, Mountaingrowl, but let me ask you something. Flintstar chose me for a reason, and what that reason is, I don't understand. We were attacked by a badger today, a badger which tore off my ear and nearly took Flintstar's life. I could have left him there to die. Do you understand how easy that would have been? I could have run from the scene, and no one would have been any the wiser. But I didn't, Mountaingrowl. I stayed and I risked my neck, and this is the outcome. I didn't see you lunging at the starving beast's face, now did I? Perhaps that's why I was chosen; because although ThunderClan and I may have vastly different opinions and ideals, Flintstar knows my heart is tied to you all. So, Mountaingrowl, what I'm saying is: shut your mouth and let me figure out how to do my job." This time he did allow the smile, although it was more of a pretentious smirk. Buckbranch spoke of loyalty, but he had to admit, of only to himself, that he wouldn't mind sitting back and letting Mountaingrowl fall if the opportunity ever revealed itself. He sat back down and raised his chin, watching the Clan through half-lidded eyes.

His knight in shining fur, the only cat capable of being a deputy when there are plenty of other cats who've proven their loyalty time after time?

"That badger should have taken your head off, and frankly, at this point I don't see how it'd be a loss if it had killed Flintstar as well. If your heart was for our Clan, you would have never thought to join the others. I, for one, refuse to sit back and stay in this trash heap you call ThunderClan. This Clan lost any dignity it could have retained when it decided literal traitors deserved to be rewarded for one act of 'kindness.' It sure as hell worked out in his favor, didn't it? He's deputy.. he gets even more opportunities to tell the other Clans about your plans? Mountaingrowl's burning gaze was steely as it shifted from Numbskull to Flintstar, eyes narrowing. "Maybe you should think about that before you tell this boy anything. But knowing you, you hardly understand the concept of putting the Clan first, do you?"

Already turning away, his tail flicked dismissively, a smirk of his own curling at the corners of his muzzle. "This Clan has gone downhill since Snowstar decided she couldn't handle being a leader. I'm glad to be done with this Clan-- it'll be more satisfying to watch you burn from the inside out with this poor decision."

Wildfire yawned, this meeting was starting to bore nothing really exciting happening. The molly was tempted to leave the meeting and see if she could find someone to play with when a soft tail brushed along her back. But who cares that was in the past, everyone makes mistakes, what matters is that you keep moving forward.

As she listened to the new deputy's words and the fact that he attempts to put grumpy Mountaingrowl in his place made Wildfire figure that Flintstar chose the right cat for the job. "Well, I think you'll make a great deputy. Buckbranch! Buckbranch!" She called out happily, not caring if she was the only one. She's always been the one to go against the tide rather than with it.

She arrived fashionably late, she knows, but she had been outside the camp when the meeting had been called. Dragonflysong took her place beside one of her younger friends, ears raised to listen to the rest of the meeting. As deputy came up she expected to hear the names of one of the cats who had followed the leader out to extend the borders and ensure that Thunderclan had a fighting chance against the incoming Leafbare. She was so astonished when Flintstar named Buckbranch deputy that her smile fell and her ears fell. Buckbranch?! Personally she had nothing against the tom, and although he had gone against the clan she understood to a point his reasoning, but it was only to that point. He had been willing to let Thunderclan suffer and that was not something she could tolerate, knowing that Flintstar was rewarding him for potentially hurting the clan just made no sense to her.

Anyone, Adderfrost, Roaringthunder, even Moutaingrowl, she could entrust the future of Thunderclan to. But Buckbranch had been more than willing to forsake his entire clan not long ago. As Buckbranch rose and made his speech, she shook her head back and forth with some ire in her blue eyes that resembled fire. She was all for giving second chances but not when it was something as large as the safety and security of her clan. She found it insulting that he assumed all the rest of cats would have run if their leader had been attacked. As she watched Mountainglare say his piece and then abruptly leave the clan she'd be lying if she said she didn't have thoughts of following the tom. There was something beyond annoying knowing that the cats who had been more than willing to risk so much stealing territory for Flintstar had been passed over because of something as incidental as a badger showing up when only he and Buckbranch had been together.

With a low hiss of irritation, Dragonflysong rose and departed from the meeting. Her love for her clan was the only thing she had to cling to anymore, it was sad knowing that she'd have to question every order both toms gave in the upcoming moons since nothing they said made an ounce of sense to her anymore.

And just like that, the burst of furious energy was gone. Buckbranch wilted, shoulders hunching as he stared, wide-eyed, at Mountaingrowl. "What are you..." He didn't finish the sentence, because Mountaingrowl was already dashing through the camp entrance. Buckbranch stared after him, jaw open. He could hear Wildfire's encouraging cheers, but that couldn't distract from the fact that Dragonflysong had disappeared. He hadn't seen where the she-cat had gone, and he could only hope she hadn't joined Mountaingrowl. His heart threatened to burst out of his chest. Who else would leave? Would Sunsnow run from ThunderClan as well, the cat he considered to be his only friend? And worst of all, what would Flintstar think? He cast a glance at the leader, apprehensive. Buckbranch may have been appointed deputy, but that decision was tearing ThunderClan apart.

Sagekit bounces nervously on his toes, eye's flitting from side to side after hearing the loud commotion outside. His small ears flatten to the sides of his head when he hears yelling coming from the high rock, and he scrambles quickly back into the nursery. Shivering lightly, he whimpers at the sound of his father, Mountaingrowl, snarling something at the other cats.

Wildfire had been about to call out for the apprentice when she found herself being nearly knocked off her feet. She managed to catch herself and keep from falling over, and once steady, looked down at her apprentice with amusement. "Hi, Amberpaw." Laughing, she was rather happy to see the young cat in high spirits. Just what was needed in a clan like this. "Oh, I don't know." She replied after the question. "Planning is rather boring, it takes the fun out of life." They were not the greatest words of wisdom but to Wildfire they were very true. "What do you want to do?"

Amberpaw sighed, “I guess we could go hunting?” She said, slightly disappointed. She remembered yesterday’s hunting and how they’d caught near to nothing. She paused hoping her mentor would reject her suggestion and they could go do something fun. Maybe tease one of the other apprentices, or chase each other through a grove, or... anything other then what they were supposed to be doing. Warrior duties were so dull. She smiled in a mischievous way. She looked up at her mentor with wide, innocent eyes and said, “or we could do something else?”

With a few small grunts, Sagekit pushes through the nursery entrance, eyes wide with confusion as he watches his father Mountaingrowl exit the camp angrily. Tufted tail drooping, the kit mewls in fear, not sure what had just happened. Why did Mountaingrowl leave without talking to him first? Did he not love him anymore?
'Did he ever love me in the first place...?" Shivering sadly, the tabby kitten sits back on his haunches, cowering in on himself when he notices that he was the only kit out in the open, surrounded by unfamiliar cats.

No. Buckbranch snapped his head around to look at Sunsnow. He could read the expression on the other tom's face as clearly as he could see the glares staring back at him. Sunsnow thought he was unfit to be deputy, unfit to lead, and he wanted to follow Mountaingrowl out. Sunsnow was his friend, or at least Buckbranch had thought so. He lowered his head; suddenly the dirt around his paws seemed incredibly interesting.

There was a flicker of moment in the corner of his vision, forcing him to look up. A kit, looking to be six moons old, standing outside the nursery and staring at the camp entrance. It's not possible, but... it's not IMPOSSIBLE. Surely this tiny scrap of fur wasn't Mountaingrowl's kid! Buckbranch had never taken the giant tom for a cat to be interested in finding a mate. But the longer he stared, the more he came to realize how close the warrior and this kit resembled each other. He stood and, ignoring the stares of ThunderClan, approached the tiny tom. "Excuse me," he murmured as he grew close. "Pardon my asking, but... does Mountaingrowl happen to be your father?"

Swallowing, Buckbranch tossed another glance toward the camp entrance. Mountaingrowl had left this tiny kit here, seemingly without a care in the world. What had the giant tom been thinking? He returned his attention to the kit, and crouched down so he could look the tiny tom in the eyes. Oh, the guilt that threatened to sink him into the ground. If he hadn't had that outburst, perhaps Mountaingrowl would still be here to care for this kit. He closed his eyes for just a moment, to think about what to do. How woud Flintstar handle this? He exhaled through his nose and opened his eyes again. "What's your name?" His voice was soft and gentle, but rasping and slightly choked, betraying the despair working in his stomach.

"Sagekit." He whispered the name. "Sagekit, I am so... I'm so sorry. This is my fault." Great StarClan, it was, wasn't it? Me and my big mouth. He needed to learn when to speak and when to keep his muzzle shut. Then maybe, just maybe, there wouldn't be situations like these. A sudden thought struck him. How many other kits had Mountaingrowl left behind? "Do you have any siblings?" he questioned. Part of him hoped the answer was yes, so that Sagekit wouldn't be alone, but the rest of him desperately wished Sagekit would reply negatively. Buckbranch didn't want any other kits left without a father. That was his job as deputy - to take care of the Clan? - but that didn't mean he wanted to take care of a bunch of fatherless kittens. But Sagekit... the tiny scrap seemed so disheartened. Buckbranch couldn't just leave him. He flicked his tail, trying to soften his expression as he waited for the kit's response.

Honeybrume purred in delight. My first apprentice! She quickly stood and padded over to Geckopaw, trying not to seem too excited. "Hey there, I'm Honeybrume." The apprentice felt a shiver rattle up his spine as his name was called, and as he was introduced to his mentor. When he swiveled his head to see who it was, he ended up looking more so up, than forwards. She was practically 2x his height. (In his eyes) However it didn't scare the curly furred tom one bit. He bounced towards the molly and gave her his brightest smile, "Hiya! I'm Geckopaw, but I'm sure you already know that! And I can't wait to actually get out of the camp!" he purred.

Slightly overstimulated from all the cheering and yelling, he felt flushed and dizzy. He practically stumbled into his mentor, "ah! Sorry! um...I'm Mosspaw, pleasure to meet you."

All the anger and annoyance coming from his clanmates flew over his head as he pressed himself into his mentor. Not because he was scared or confused, no, he was trying to calm himself down. His heart was beating, he felt like he was on fire. Too much was happening at once and he didn't know how to handle it all. Just, stay strong. You are the leader. Your word is law. Flintstar was proud of Buckbranch for standing up for himself, even in the face of Mountaingrowl’s accusations. What he hadn’t been expected was for the large time to completely abandon the camp. The clan. He knew Mountaingrowl to be a.... difficult sort, but he’d never doubted the tomcat’s loyalty. And here... one thing he disagrees with and he was out. But maybe this really is a stupid decision. No. HE wouldn’t let himself think like that. As the commotion was happening in the clearing, Flintstar called out, planning to say one more thing. “I understand how hard this might be for some of you to take. But it is my decision, and unless Buckbranch does something terribly wrong again, this will remain my decision. And he’s isn’t deputy, so you will be following his orders. Or you will have me to answer to. This meeting is dismissed. Go to your dens, all of you. Minktail has her vigil tonight.” With a stern look across his clan, though he gave a soft, encouraging one to Minktail, Flintstar leaped down from the highpeak, and made his way into his den, mumbling to himself and shaking his head. He was known for stupid decisions. Maybe this was just another one that’s was far more noticeable.

Foxbound has watched Mountaingrowl leave, but she would never abandon her clan like that. Thunderclan was her home, even if it was currently under the lead of two insane tomcats. Orange eyes narrowing, she marched over to Buckbranch, giving the small kit, Sagekit, a kind look before she stuck her muzzle in the tomcat’s face, growling. She’d placed herself so the kit couldn’t see her, and kept her voice low. “I don’t know what happened or how you came to be deputy, but my trust in both of you is nonexistent right now.” She shifted slightly, eyes narrowing further. “Thunderclan is my clan, and i am fully loyal to it. So believe me when I say, you put one paw wrong, and you. Will. Be. Sorry. I’ll make sure of that.” She ended with a hiss, before pulling back and looking down at Sagekit, giving the young kit a smile. “If this tomcat here does anything wrong, you come and tell me, okay?” She purées, her voice dripping with sweetness. She then cast Buckbranch a final glare before marching away, ginger tail lashing.

Foxbound's voice surprised him, and he turned to eye the ginger she-cat as she approached. He noticed the look she gave Sagekit, and opened his mouth to speak, but Foxbound beat him to it. He watched her warily as she spat at him. "And I'm loyal to ThunderClan as well," he promised. "No paws out of line for me, no ma'am." Jeez, why did such a pretty cat have to be so vicious with words? He'd have to come up with a way to soften that temper. But for the time being, his focus was on Sagekit. He turned around to once again comfort the tiny tom, but with a jolt of shock noticed Sagekit was pressing himself against Buckbranch's legs. And shivering. Great StarClan, I've really screwed up, haven't I? Once again he licked the kit between the ears. "Why don't you go back to your mother?" he suggested softly.

Dustbreeze had been sitting near the back of the clan, silently watching everything happen. it was heartwarming to see the apprentice ceremonies, seeing the sparkling eyes. It hadn't been too long ago that she had been made a warrior. She smiled softly at the two newcomers. Thunderclan needed all the paws they could get if they were going to survive this leaf bare and they had good mentors. Well at least Pinepaw did. Pantherpaw was subject to be the leader's apprentice and her trust in the leader was faltering.

She tried to shake the disappointment as she heard him announce Buckbranch as the deputy. It seemed surreal, how ws a traitor being put in such a position of trust. It made her hackles raise but she trusted the leader. The lithe tortoiseshell cat watched with concerned sage eyes at the events. Then she heard her father voice his discontempt. Loud, so loud and so directly against the leader's words. She shrunk slightly as she listened to the dispute. Then in a blink of an eye her father turned and left.

She stood, as if to follow him. She couldn't make her feet move however, he was a traitor now. He was abandoning the clan. Her maw hung slightly ajar. She watched as her father disappeared into the night and felt a sinking feeling in her chest. They'd never connected but it was too late now. Plus he was a traitor for leaving when the clan needed help.

Her eyes turned up to Buckbranch and she glared at the traitor who stood low and pathetically. He made her father leave. He betrayed the clan. Her long orange and brown fur ruffled angrily around her. She wished she could urge herself to say something or do something. She was too scared. Pathetic, as her father would say. A disappointment. Dustbreeze was not like him. Too soft. Too loyal to her leader. So instead of letting her anger win her over, Dustbreeze lowered her head into a small nod of respect at Buckbranch. Giving in completely to her new situation, despite her own feelings that she was suffocating inside.

She had heard of Mountaingrowls disappearance, not that she didn’t expect him to pop back up within a few moons rather she was scared that he wasn’t. He hadn’t been reliable when she gave birth to their kits and she doubted he would ever been too involved with them from here on out. She wouldn’t let it bother her nonetheless, he was gone and there was nothing she could do about it.

Her sons were nearing the age of apprenticeship and growing further from her in the process. Rolling onto her side the dainty she cat exposed her belly to the ceiling of the den letting out a sigh of defeat. It wouldn’t be long before she moved from the nursery back into the warriors den, though she missed the rush of the hunt or being free to wander where she pleased- she could feel her heart strings being plucked. Her boys had grown up to quickly and within a moment it was over. She was briefly jerked out of her thoughts by a familiar sniffle, her eyes blinked open in an instant and flipped back over onto her side. “Sage-“ Her voice hitched- dawning the realization she too was teary eyed. “Sagekit c’mere” Her voice was filled once again with kindness and appeared unbroken once more.

New kits in the nursery would sure brighten her mood, even if she wouldn't have a chance to really connect with them till they were a bit older.

Waterheart finished up her meal before giving her paws a quick through wash. "It really all depends if a cat wants to fight for their clans or like me just join the queens even without kits.", she meowed. The molly had had kits, but they weren't clan born. The molly was tucked into her mothers side, curled up into a tight ball as she did her best to stay as warm as possible. The nights were beginning to get colder and colder. She shuffled even closer into Littlebear when the molly started calling out for her brother, a little annoyed by her mother's constant moving. "Cold." she mumbled as she pressed her face into the Queens soft fur.

Aspenkit's ears perked up as her brother started talking about their father, she whipped her head around and blinked at him. "How would you know though? We never even met daddy. He was there but we never actually...played with him!" she stated, fur fluffing up. Sure, Mountiangrowl was there, but he didn't play with them like mother did. "I'm sure you're just being a worry wart."

Sagekit nuzzles into his Littlebear's pelt, body quivering. He kneads his white paws against her belly, curling himself further into her fur for warmth. His ears perk at the sound of Maplebriar's voice, reminding him that the she-cat was still here. Amber gaze traveling over to Maple, Sagekit mewls his quiet thanks at her leaving form before once again burying his muzzle into his mother's fur. He inhales the scent of her, a purr vibrating from his chest as the sadness begins to unfurl into relief. His sister's words made sense to him... Maybe he was just being a worry wart.. Giving Aspenkit a small lick of thanks, he sinks into a light slumber.

Ashenrain looked up at Honeyflower, scenting her before she heard her coming. She was deaf in one ear and couldn't hear all to well, but she did hear her ask if she could sit next to her. The expecting warrior dipped her head. "I don't mind if you sit next to me.", she meowed. Ashenrain looked in front of her at the fresh kill pile before looking at the other warrior again. "How have you been?", asked the molly. She fluffed out her fur, feeling a cold wind run through her fluffy fur. Asherain forced her fur to lie flat.
(Sorry this is so late!)

Honeyflower nodded before taking a set next to the younger warrior. She didn't know Ashenrain well but did know she was expecting kits. That was more of an observation though, as the molly's swollen stomach gave it away. "Me? I've been okay." The large splotchy molly answered, her honey amber eyes resting on the smaller warrior. "What about you?" She asked before running a paw over her ear. Honeyflower had never bore kits before so she knew little to nothing about it. Only what she had heard, it was painful, awkward but worth it. The made sense but Honey did expect Ashenrain would probably have to resign to the nursery soon, with Leaf-bare around the corner. This was none of Honeyflower's business though.

Great StarClan, Buckbranch was exhausted. There was too much drama going on for his brain to keep up, and his good ear felt ready to fall. It probably would, given the mass of insults it had taken both during and after his ceremony. He shook his head with a sigh, wondering what in the world had driven Flintstar to choose him.

Then the guilt struck again. That poor kit... Sagekit, had been his name. Buckbranch felt awful. He'd tried to comfort the kit, but didn't think he'd done a very good job of it. And he wanted to talk to him again. Rising to his paws, he grabbed a small mouse from the prey pile and approached the nursery. Perhaps another chat would raise both of their spirits. He paused as he neared the nursery entrance, set the mouse down to speak. "Sagekit?" he called out. "Are you there? I... I want to talk to you."

(Sorry, this is incredibly late! Got caught up in some stuff!)

Sagekit hears his name being called, and he stirs from his light snooze. Standing from his spot next to his mother and sibling, the tabby kit arches his back in a quick stretch before padding to the nursery entrance. His shy expression becomes a bit happier when he recognizes Buckbranch. His mew is soft-spoken, "Hello, Buckbranch. Do you need anything?" Sage falters, tucking his tail closer to his paws. "Did I do something wrong?"

Frostedkit sat up after hearing the olders tom's calm and quite voice. Her body let out one last shake and she looked blindly up at Riddlemask. "My name's Frostedkit.", she meowed. The tiny she-kit's fur layed flat on her back as he blocked out the wind. Frostedkit pressed up against the tom's side. She felt his nice soft and warm fur on her's and it made her feel like she had a cat. "Is the camp a big place? I wish I could see all the cats.", she meowed in a whisper.

Wildfire rolls her green eyes at her apprentice's suggestion. To think, she had been hoping that Amberpaw figure out what they do today. Obviously they needed to spend more time together so the molly could properly teach her how to have fun as a future warrior of Thunderclan. "Doing the same thing over and over again is about as fun as listening to an elder's lecture." She hated it when they went into those 'when I was your age' speeches. "Come on, we can play hide and seek, the loser has to clean out the elder's den." She purred, leading the way out of the camp.

Riddlemask found her name interesting, not as unique as his own, but different enough that it would be easy not to mix it up with another. As she asked about the camp his bicolored eyes flickered up to look at the cats around the camp. There's been some tension around the clan since Flintstar's picked his new deputy, nothing that bothered Riddlemask, but there weren't as many cats as there were normally. A few of them had actually left the clan... "I'm sure you'd think the camp is a huge place since you're so small." The tom answered, amused by the fact she pressed against him. He guessed she was lonely and in a way, he was too. He wanted to say something about her lack of sight then remembered that he was talking to a kit and so he'd probably only confuse her. "Frostedkit, how old are you?" He wondered, curling his tail around the small kit's body.

The question was loaded, and truth be told she couldn’t quite come up with the answer Sagekit was likely looking for. “Well now let me see” she wouldn’t lie to him, she was rather blunt that way. She didn’t want them to grow up and have to deal with that discussion later. “Mountaingrowl” she began, reluctant to even call the tom their father. “He’s a poor sport that’s all. All he knows how to do is be grumpy and throw fits when things don’t go his way. So when Buckbranch was named deputy he decided to up and leave” she paused giving her ear a gentle flick.

She lifted a paw to pull Sagekit into her side giving her daughter a swat with her tail. “Aspenkit now now” she said quietly lifting a brow at her words. She was wise for her age, and quite upfront as well. Her overt bluntness wouldn’t work well with Sagekits timidness. She pressed her nose to the she cats head and adjusted to make more room “we mustn’t worry about it now- “
she added quietly adjusting once more against Aspenkits disapproval. “You’ve got apprenticeship to worry about my dears, It won’t be too long now”

He nudged the mouse forward with a paw. "I thought you might be hungry, so I brought you this." He sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. Nervousness pricked at his belly, but what was there to be nervous about? Sagekit looked happy to see him, not upset or angry.

"I, uh, wanted to talk to you about Mountaingrowl," Buckbranch continued, shuffling his paws. "And about the Clan meeting. I'm sorry you had to see that, and I just wanted to make sure that you're ok."

In Quillpaw's opinion, the evening was the best time for socializing. During the day, the clearing was either congested or almost empty. It was full of cats mulling about, all with their own agendas. The evening, however, was a more peaceful time; it was less crowded, while remaining... nice. This was why Quillpaw enjoyed the clearing in the evening. Padding quietly over to a nice, comfortable-looking spot near the apprentices' den, the tom seemed to sink down, curling his tail around his paws. This was perfect. No drama, no surprises, just a nice peaceful evening that every cat could enjoy.

Quillpaw stifled a yawn, his eyelids lowering as he scanned the clearing for any potential troublemakers. Those were the cats he would make a mental note to stay far, far away from. Why would he want to be anywhere near someone who would disrupt his quiet evening? He was also trying to check for potential arguments brewing; of course, if he could get in the middle of it, it would stop them for good... right? He was good at that sort of thing, or at least, that was what he told himself.

As time continued to pass, Quillpaw settled into a steadier rhythm of breathing, subconsciously continuing to view the clearing. He wasn't retaining anything, at this point... it would likely occur to him later if he saw anything out of the ordinary.

A nervous expression worked its way onto Buckbranch's face. "Perhaps," he murmured. He hoped the warrior would return to ThunderClan. Mountaingrowl terrified him, and to know such a giant, angry cat was out there somewhere but to not know where was not good for Buckbranch's heart. Every sound scared him now, his mind forcing him to think of the huge tom rushing him, claws outsretched and ready kill.

With a jolt of dismay, he realized he was frowning, and forced the smile back. He reached over with his tail and flicked Sagekit's ear. "Well. I'm glad you're doing alright," he meowed. "I'll admit, you had me worried for a moment there." And now for the question. Buckbranch assumed it was fine to ask, seeing as Sagekit didn't seem to hate him, so he took a deep breath and asked, "How would you like to be my apprentice?"

Buckbranch wanted to mentor him? Heart swelling with happiness, Sage hops on his toes a bit, bustling with glee that is so rarely seen in the kit. "Yes!! Sagekit's excited response made Buckbranch let out a joy-filled laugh. The happiness sparkled in his eyes and he settled into a less tense crouch. "I'm glad," he said. "I'll talk to Flintstar about it later, and make it official." He'd have to be careful with training - Sagekit looked so small and seemed so fragile, and Buckbranch was scared he might accidentally step on him one day. But even that worrisome thought couldn't squash the ball of elation swelling in his chest. Maybe with an apprentice, his Clan would trust him a little bit more.

Buckbranch paced apprehensively in front of the den entrance. He was sure Flintstar was angry, and he didn't exactly want to bother the tom about Sagekit, but he'd promised the tiny scrap a favor. No, you didn't, his brain reminded him. You didn't say it out loud. But what did it matter? He'd promised himself he'd take care of Sagekit and protect him at all costs. With Mountaingrowl, who would look after the tiny tom? Certainly no one else in ThunderClan. Although maybe Foxbound would... He shook his head fiercly, scattering all thoughts of the pretty ginger she-cat from his mind. He was here for Sagekit, and no one else. "Flintstar?" he called out, finally halting his pacing so he stood to the side of the entrance. "I need to speak to you."

The large black tomcat was curled up in his nest, in his now finally clean den. His eyes were halfway closed and he was staring blankly at the back wall of his den, though his mind was running a mile a minute. A voice outside his den disrupted the leader's thoughts, and he instantly recognized it as his new deputy's voice. Buckbranch... Flintstar knew there was no backing out on his decision, he was stubborn with that. And he didn't see his choice as anything as terrible as the clan saw it as. It was a learning opportunity. A chance to grow and learn. Flintstar believed himself to be fully capable of leading the clan on his own, and so having Buckbranch in that position was just a chance for the tomcat to figure himself out. And eventually, he'll make an excellent deputy.
"Come in." Flintstar announced, narrowing his eyes and keeping his face towards the wall. The tomcat wasn't in the best mood, whether he'd convinced himself it was okay or not. But he was also in a playful mood as well. And teasing his new deputy would hopefully prove... recreational.

For a moment we was silent, jaws merely opening and closing as he tried to figure out what to say. Come on, Buttercup, it's only Flintstar. He won't kill you. "It's about Sagekit," he began. "Mountaingrowl was his father, and he and I started talking, and one thing led to another..." He closed his eyes and signed, shifting his paws. "I asked him if he wanted to be my apprentice, and he said yes - was really happy about it, too - so I came to make it official. I want to mentor Sagekit." Pelt prickling, he waited for Flintstar's response. Would the leader say yes, or seem Buckbranch unfit for an apprentice because of what had happened the other day? He forced his shoulder fur to lie flat. No, no, it would be fine. Everything would turn out alright.

Pinepaw stretched as she came into the clearing. Her golden eyes were slit with exhaustion as she looked around lazily. She had hoped that some general excitement would be happening this evening, but it appeared the clan was relaxed. She sighed and looked through the orange-basked clearing. The setting sun had turned it into such a different place. The snow now thickly covered the ground. The chill of the world bothered her much less than it had the night she'd run away from her kittypet heritage with her brother. Her eyes found a fellow apprentice relaxing near the den. She smirked. At least there would be someone to try to stir the pot with.

Pinepaw found herself fitting in quite well. Even more than she had imagined. She had thought life would have been difficult, and it truly was, but in a good way. The run, training and chase she dis every day was exhilarating. It felt like she had always meant to be doing this. It also fed much into her newfound passion for gossip and the spotlight. It just so happened that she had also walked into the clan at the perfect time for there to be something spicy to bring up everywhere she went. The new deputy.

Pinepaw sauntered over to Quillpaw. She recognized the fellow apprentice. She knew most of the by name. Though she wouldn't say she had any best friends yet. Her only true and trustworthy friend was her brother, Pantherpaw. She wondered how much Quill would be in for some gossip. She had been out for the day and wanted to know if anything new and exciting had happened.

"Hi Quillpaw." She purred sitting beside him and wrapping her thin tail over her paws. Her silver goat shone golden in late day light. "Anything exciting happen in the clan today? I wonder how that new deputy is doing, he seems to be a rather unpopular choice... What do you think about him?"
She looked into the sleepy apprentice's eyes with a sickly sweet smile, hoping for anything but a dull answer.

Flintstar is a ditzy idiot. We´ll all die, and it´s all his fault

The orange and white tom sighed and took a few deep breaths. No. It´s not his fault he was deceived. Lacking maturity and wisdom is something most cats can relate to. His green eyes scanned the clearing in search of the traitor. However, I am not one of them.

Sunsnow took another deep breath. I need to find that cat and keep an eye on him, but I also need to cool off for a bit. When he couldn´t find Buttercup, he rolled out his shoulders and started padding to the entrance of the camp.

Ah, well.

It´s not like he´ll try anything after just becoming deputy.
