Blossomflight blinked herself awake as she felt movement. Looking up, she saw Bearkit stumbling around. She chuckled, and sat up. "Well, good morning!" She purred, settling herself near her kit. The molly watched carefully, making sure he didn't hurt himself.

Bearkit tipped a little to the side as he walked toward the nursery entrance, still not at all used to his legs. After all, this was the first time he was using them. His progress was about as slow as a snail, but in his mind he was moving so fast. The light coming from outside got brighter and brighter, until suddenly it consumed his entire view. He felt a blast of chilly air that made him shiver.

He could barely make out several large, moving shapes in the midst of all this light. He kept blinking, but his young eyes weren’t able to process so much light yet. Bearkit suddenly began to feel afraid, as dozens of unfamiliar scents hit his nose.

She didn't close her eyes though, she needed to watch Bearkit.

Blossomflight decided this was the time to bring Bearkit back. She stood up, and picked the young tom up by his scruff. "Im not sure you're ready for that." The molly chuckled, setting him back in the nest. "You're free to look around the nursery though!" Blossomflight gave him a little nuzzle before laying down again. She didn't close her eyes though, she needed to watch Bearkit.

Bearkit mewled as he was suddenly swept into the air. His panic lessened as his mother’s familiar milk-scent washed over him. He felt the softness of their nest suddenly under his paws. Almost as soon as he was back down again, he began stumbling back out. This time, he went in the other direction, toward the back of the nursery.

The calico she-kit sat blank-faced in her nest. The chaos she'd faced in the meeting about the murdered kits was proving to be a bit too much for her. No, no. She had to stay strong. She had to push through. She was to be an apprentice soon! She had to be brave! She took a few breaths and shook the thoughts out of her mind. Okay. She could pretend that there weren't any guards at the entrance to the nursery. It was no different than playing Clan! She got up and padded toward an empty spot in the nursery, finding a mossball she'd hid a few days ago. It was a bit dry, but it'd work! She batted it around with her paws, waiting for someone to come play with her.

Mintkit nodded lightly, her belly rumbling from time to time. She did not mind the hunger as long as she was distracted in doing stuff, but the thought of eating with Lilyleaf was intriguing. She didn't remember the last time she had eaten with someone else.
I wonder if there will be some minnows on the pile... she thought while scampering out of the nursery, her mother following behind.

Racekit wiggled away from her siblings, streching their paws out as far as they could go. Sleep seemed like a really nice thing to do. Of course, they wanted to speak and run and play! But that seemed like a lot of work. And sleep was easy. Leting out a sigh of content, he streched himself out and took a nice long nap.

The little calico snuggled into her warm nest with happy dreams of chasing butterflies and bees.

Swiftkit got to their paws, quite wobblely as they prnced around a little, trying to run but tripping at times. Sneezing, she looked around the nursery, squinting her eyes as she looked around. Squeaking, he wondered if anyone else was around.

Bearkit slid around the den. He still couldn’t really walk yet. Any time he tried to use his legs, they quickly gave out on him. But he was figuring out how to slowly crawl; to him, it felt like he was moving at the speed of light. Every few days, his vision got just a little bit clearer. He started to notice a few more details here and there, and he was now able to distinguish one cat from another. He still had trouble with cats that looked very alike, though.

Hollowstorm loved her... She took in another deep breath. Kits dead... deputy dead... who was to be murdered next? It was torture for the young molly. [open to anybody who would like to comfort her]

Slatestripe padded into the nursery, a fat wad of moss in his jaws. He hadn’t visited his friend in a while, so he figured now would be the time. He needed a distraction from everything that was going on with Slatewhisker.

He halted before Blossomflight, dipping his head in polite greeting. He couldn’t speak through the moss. He hoped she wouldn’t mind someone changing out her nest. It was starting to look a little old and musty.

Slatestripe blinked in surprise. She was throwing him out? So much for that, he thought. In that moment, he wasn’t really sure what he should feel. He tried to be understanding, tried to help her see that sitting and worrying was only going to do her harm.

At least he tried. He turned and padded out of the den without another word. Hopefully she could pull herself out of this eventually.

Slatestripe silently padded toward the nursery. The poor interaction he’d had with Blossomflight recently still stung in his mind. He wouldn’t necessarily call it a fight, per say. More a… bad exchange. Yes, that was it. A bad exchange.

Still, it pricked his heart to know that one of his good friends currently felt poorly toward him. He tried hard not to let that feeling bleed into self-pity. There was no benefit in that. He just wanted to try to make amends with Blossomflight, somehow.

He didn’t quite know the words to say, so he decided an action would be good enough. Slatestripe sat himself down right outside the nursery, back against the interior. He gazed out at the mostly-silent camp. Thankfully, nothing seemed amiss.

If anything were, though, he’d be the first to catch it. Despite the slight tiredness creeping into his mind, he vowed to be here until dawn. He didn’t know if Blossomflight would know, but he hoped she would. He wasn’t doing it just for her, either, even if that was the main reason. He didn’t know if anything he was doing was good enough, but he had to try. If he could make even the slightest difference, he wanted to.

“Okay!” Bearkit chirped happily. The tiny kit hopped from paw to paw, scarcely able to contain his excitement at eating a whole fish by himself for the first time. Normally, he’d shared with his mom or his littermates.

Slatestripe side-eyed Hollowstorm as the other tom sat beside him. Hollowstorm had done a lot to earn Slatestripe’s ire over the past moon. Biting his head off over visiting Blossomflight. Throwing attitude toward Pikestar over Snowkit. Disrespecting Slatewhisker by asking for an apprentice only moments after the deputy’s body arrived back at camp.

Still, Slatestripe admired the tom’s dedication to his kits. He’d give him that, if he had to give him anything. In a world where it was unfortunately too common for parents to up and abandon their own kits, Hollowstorm was taking his duty as a father seriously. Those kits were lucky to have parents who cared. Slatestripe hoped they knew that, or if they didn’t, that they’d soon learn.

He watched as Hollowstorm got back up, only a short while after sitting down in the first place. The warrior seemed agitated, lost in some thought. Suddenly, he left the camp entirely. Slatestripe narrowed his eyes, wondering where he was going so late at night. The gray and black tom debated going after him, but decided against it. He probably just wants to work off some steam, or something. Besides, right now guarding the nursery was more important.

Snowkit confined herself to the nursery. Still thinking about Slatemama. Feeling very sad. She was worried that if she went out of the nursery, she would be like Slatemama. She would be dead. And now Bluesister wasn't here with her anymore, they slept in different dens now. She was all alone. She hadn't spoken since that day. Her anxiety triggered every time she even tried to socialize. That's why she just didn't do anything. She calmed herself down, trying to head out of the nursery, but no.. She didn't have the courage to.. Yes.. No.. Yes.. No... YESNOYESNO.... It was like her mind was arguing.. She didn't know what to do.. She took a deep breath, finally deciding that she should go visit her sister.. And walked out of the nursery.

Slatestripe hesitated at the entrance to the nursery. He hadn’t seen Blossomflight in about a quarter moon. Not since their bad interaction. She hadn’t sought him out, so he wasn’t sure if she’d gotten over it or not. Any irritation he’d felt toward her unceremoniously throwing him out was gone. He was just starting to miss his friend. He’d carefully stripped the pelt off of a rabbit a patrol had brought in and was bringing it to her as a sort of make up gift. He hoped it wasn’t received poorly. The chillier nights meant she needed to be able to warm her kits.

Taking a deep breath, Slatestripe padded into the nursery. He had been inside for less than a second when an excited squeal filled his ears. Surprised, the warrior looked down to see a black and gray kit dancing happily around his paws. He quickly recognized it as Bearkit, one of Blossomflight’s sons.

The kit was so excited that he was actually shaking. His tail whipped back and forth, striking against Slatestripe’s legs every now and again. Fortunately, it was so tiny that it didn’t hurt. Big eyes looked up at the warrior, and an innocent voice chirped,

“Are you my father? I’ve seen you a couple of times in the camp, and you look just like me, so I thought that you must be my dad! You’re here pretty often too, so I think that must mean you’re checking up on us!”

Slatestripe tensed, feeling like the nursery walls were suddenly getting a little closer. Awkward embarrassment began seeping into his fur, and his ears flattened. He cast a glance around the nursery, looking for Blossomflight.

He’d carefully stripped the pelt off of a rabbit a patrol had brought in and was bringing it to her as a sort of make up gift. He hoped it wasn’t received poorly. Taking a deep breath, Slatestripe padded into the nursery. He had been inside for less than a second when an excited squeal filled his ears. Surprised, the warrior looked down to see a black and gray kit dancing happily around his paws. He quickly recognized it as Bearkit, one of Blossomflight’s sons.

The kit was so excited that he was actually shaking. His tail whipped back and forth, striking against Slatestripe’s legs every now and again. Fortunately, it was so tiny that it didn’t hurt. Big eyes looked up at the warrior, and an innocent voice chirped,

“Are you my father? I’ve seen you a couple of times in the camp, and you look just like me, so I thought that you must be my dad! You’re here pretty often too, so I think that must mean you’re checking up on us!”

Slatestripe tensed, feeling like the nursery walls were suddenly getting a little closer. Awkward embarrassment began seeping into his fur, and his ears flattened. He cast a glance around the nursery, looking for Blossomflight.

Blossomflight's nest was closeby, so she watched the whole thing. Her mouth opened slightly when Bearkit asked the question of if Slatestripe was his father. The molly felt a pang of hurt in her soul. Did Hollowstorm really not visit that much? So much that Slatestripe could be viewed as a father to her kits? She flicked an ear and padded over to Bearkit and Slatestripe. She looked at her son, then to her best friend with an embarrassed look on her face. "Hello..." She chirped awkwardly.

Slatestripe hesitated at the entrance to the nursery. He hadn’t seen Blossomflight in about a quarter moon. Not since their bad interaction. She hadn’t sought him out, so he wasn’t sure if she’d gotten over it or not. Any irritation he’d felt toward her unceremoniously throwing him out was gone. He was just starting to miss his friend. Any shred of respect he may have had for the other tom had been reduced to dust. No cat was going to get away with implying he was a bad warrior. Especially not Hollowstorm.

He looked over as Blossomflight told him to never speak to her or their kits again. This surprised him; he’d figured that they’d work it out, as they always seemed to. Even though Slatestripe wasn’t a fan of Hollowstorm in the slightest, he understood that Blossomflight had loved him. Why, he wasn’t sure. But, she had. Still, he supposed the cat’s lack of presence and general dumbassery was enough to thaw even the warmest love.

Meanwhile, Bearkit had watched the whole ordeal with wide, unblinking eyes. The little kit trembled as Hollowstorm gave him a lick. To the young kit, this cat seemed bad. Blossomflight had struck him, and so that must mean he was bad. A queen told Bearkit once that cats only unsheathed their claws when they were fighting an enemy.

Was he actually Bearkit’s dad? Bearkit didn’t want him to be. He could tell that Hollowstorm made his mom upset, and he didn’t like that. He made Slatestripe upset, too, and he didn’t like that, either. He hoped Hollowstorm didn’t come back. The tiny kit pressed closer to his mom’s legs.

Slatestripe thought about that for a few minutes. He wanted to give Blossomflight a proper answer, without his bias against Hollowstorm getting in the way. When he felt like he had a good answer, he spoke.

“I think you were right to call him out on his treatment of others and his lack of presence as a father and mate. I think hitting him was overkill, even if I think your anger at him was justified. It isn’t good for kits to be exposed to that kind of inter-Clan violence at their age. Who knows how they’ll interpret it.”

He paused. “As for whether you’re right to break things off with Hollowstorm for good, only you can know that. I think Hollowstorm has lost his way. If he finds it again, then I don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving him a second chance. But if he doesn’t, then you’re better off without him.”

Mudkit watched a warrior step into the nursery, and immediately, the fluffy orange tom bounded in front of her. He weaved through the older cat's paws and mewed, "Hi! I'm Mudkit! Who are you?" The young tom asked excitedly, his amber eyes shimmering with energy and optimism.
