~Dragonflyfrond~

The deputy’s stepping down? Dragonflyfrond glanced around the crowd for the, now former, deputy. He didn’t know the warrior, and so didn’t have much of an opinion. Well it’s their choice. I suppose the pressure of being deputy just got to them. Completely understandable. I’d do the same in that sort of situation. I’m sure Kestrelstar will pick a great new cat. That he was sure of. The clan was in good paws.

The scarred tom returned Kestrelstar's nod with a dip of his own head. Fierceroar's disappearance still irked him, but now he had a chance to step in and do better than she had. He wasn't a replacement for her, he was going to do better.

His eye widened as Kestrelstar carried on, though, and all thoughts of surpassing Fierceroar went out the window. Splashleap, stepping down? He supposed it made sense - Splashleap had always been nervous about holding the role, it had been visible from the very start. It was unfortunate, but it wasn't exactly surprising. He wasn't sure why everyone around him seemed to be so shocked.

Dustymoth
If he was being perfectly honest, the large fluffy tomcat had not paid attention to most of the meeting. Sure, he had joined and taken a seat, but his focus was back on the shell he had left behind. Worry flooded his eyes as they shifted over his shoulders, but in fear of getting scolded for not paying attention he kept himself facing forward. It was difficult to say the least, for the announcements made were of the tedious nature. New apprentices, new warriors, more coyotes - a shocker, since it was leaf-bare and getting colder. Dustymoth continued to sit, shuffling his paws underneath him and readying his muscles to leap up at the first sign of dismissal.

Until it was announced that Splashleap was stepping down. What??? What would they do without a deputy? Mouth hanging agape the young warrior tried to find the she-cat in the crowd but had no such luck. Why would she do that? And in the middle of leaf-bare? Anxiety tickled his heart and Dustymoth swallowed nervously. "What are we going to do?" he murmured to no one in particular, folding his ears back against his head as blue eyes went round in concern.

The russet-coloured jolted up from slumber, realising she had been late for a meeting. Of course she was late. She was always late. And yet, as if the luck gods had smiled upon her, she was able to catch of how she was getting a new mentor. She felt kinda guilty, she didn’t actually notice Skysplash was gone, and that she just wasn’t training her. She quickly gave Goosefury a small nose bump before sitting down.

She listened to Kestrelstar with his announcement. “Huh!?” Splashleap never had any connection with Maplepaw, and yet she was always..well, the deputy. It was hard imagining her changing into just a warrior, but she had to expect this. She nodded, not a word more said, as she looked up to her new mentor.

The reactions were much tamer than Kestrelstar had expected, and that made him want to breathe a sigh of relief. Splashleap would be missed absolutely, and hopefully the search for the next deputy wouldn't be too terribly hard. He'd have to take his time though, and make sure the cat he selected was ready for the role. Yellow eyes narrowed as a few cats seemed to leave the meeting right after as if he had dismissed them (which he hadn't), and though he didn't speak on it the gray tabby leader kept it as a note for later.

A few voiced their apparent shock, but Kestrelstar simply nodded towards them. Most notably Bristletail and Shimmerbird. "She is still a loyal warrior, and even though she has stepped down, she will continue to be treated as such." He wouldn't give any reasonings, that was Splashleap's job to do if she wished.

There was a continued conversation between Spottedkit and Horsetail that Kestrelstar wanted to address, but the meeting had already extended long enough. "This meeting is dismissed," he called, leaping down from the high rock.

The orange molly stepped back as Horsetail talked with Spottedkit. "Uh- If you guys need me just let me know, I can take care of Spottedkit if needed but if you [Horsetail] don't need me to then- I'll just head back to the meeting" PumpkinSprout meowed awkwardly and dipped her head to Horsetail.

Turning her head to look towards the streamstone just to see the meeting end. She sighed somewhat annoyed that she missed the meeting and somewhat upset that there was no news on her missing daughter during the meeting. "Poor Wrenkit must be frightened to death...I hope those coyotes didn't find her-" she shuttered as she thought about her daughter laying limp, covered in blood with a coyote sneeking away Perhaps becoming a Clan cat was a bad idea... She pushed the thought away attempting to calm herself down, Moving to the forest was the best thing I've done. I'm sure some cat will find her soon enough. she reasured herself and began to pad to the nursery to check on her kits.

Plumstorm listens to Bristletail's comment, nodding and not saying much more. The meeting itself was pretty boring, pretty samey. Splashleap was stepping away from deputy position, which was unfortunate but respectable enough. Now, plenty of warriors and perhaps even shields would be falling over themselves to impress Kestrelstar. She felt bad for him, a little at least. But she leaves when the meeting is dismissed.

Wolfsong's eyes widened slightly at the announcement of Splashleap's stepping down as deputy. She turned her gaze to the warrior and gave her a warm blink, trying to show her respect.
Moonfrost nodded at Splashleap as well, dipping her head respectfully. She served honorably, and deserved the acknowledgement.

Frostkit watched the meeting from near the fresh-kill pile. Even when the meeting ended, they still sat there, staring off into space, which was quite uncharacteristic for them.

On the inside, Frostkit was thinking long and hard. They hadn't known that a warrior could just retire from their duties. Splashleap must have been tired to do that. Very tired.

Still lost in thought, Frostkit stood, ambling around the camp without a destination in mind. They just needed to move their paws, although it felt like everything was numb. Life was much larger than Frostkit had realized at first.

Will I ever be that tired one day?

The bitter cold circling the atmosphere bothered the large tomcat little. His shaggy and long pelt shielded him from its frigidness and merciless strike. Yet, the pine to remain dormant in his nest was as much present as if he were shivering in the snowfall. Marshglare didn't favor being awoken from his slumber, it was needed - especially in the cold season. His relatives often joked that he was a bear in need of hibernation to survive the winter. Marshglare had no argument for this continuous tease. As he saw it, they were accurate and like a bear without sleep, he grew grumpy. Today was no exception.

When Kestrelstar had called for a meeting, Marshglare could not help but emit a groan from his jaws. He felt his bones crack beneath his skin as he heaved himself from his den, opting to join his Clan in whatever meeting lay before them. As he soon found, it regarded the coyotes that had neared their territory; too close for comfort. Marshglare huffed. Coyotes... The wild canines did not bother him much, but his anxious eye could not resist peering at his smaller clan-mates, grateful that it no longer loitered. Though, as the meeting continued and the Clans politics were discussed, Marshglare began to zone out, raising his head to the darkening clouds above his cranium. Perhaps it would snow soon...

Weak sunlight dappled the grounds of camp still dusted in light snow. Even though it was the dead of leaf-bare, it wasn't as cold as it had been. There was a lot weighing on his mind as Kestrelstar emerged from his den. His fur was groomed and his eyes glanced around camp briefly. An unreadable expression on his face, the RiverClan leader gave a sigh. Unbeknownst to his Clanmates was the fact that he had not gotten a wink of sleep last night. So much was saddled on his shoulders, especially with the news Whitepaw had given him.

His yellow eyes darted across the camp in search of the apprentice. He wanted to see her, to see if she was in camp. Stars, he hoped she would be in the crowd - despite her anger and snarky-ness, there was a sort of strength that he drew from her, and the other apprentices in the Clan.

After a moment or two, Kestrelstar bunched his legs to spring onto the Streamstone. The usual small wave of nausea hit him being up so high, but the gray tabby had gotten pretty good at hiding it. He padded forward to survey the Clan below, watching as they went about their days. "All cats old enough to swim, gather beneath the Streamstone for a Clan meeting." His voice rang through the clearing, allowing the moments before RiverClan gathered for the sun to soak into and warm his pelt.

The large dull-furred golden tom jogged over to the Streamstone, his head down, for he knew what was about to go down. He looked around, and found a good place to sit, near the back so it was easier to hide. He unsheathed his white claws, and dug them into the dirt, he scraped them back and forth, gritting his teeth.

His tail flicked nervously as he watched Kestrelstar round up all the warriors and apprentices. He didn't know what was going to happen. And he hoped he would just pass over his little secret, give him a break maybe. But as much as he hoped, deep down he knew that wouldn't happen.

He looked like hell. He knew that, but Stormtalon was dead and he still couldn't get over it so to hell with trying to look decent for these heathens. He didn't care anymore. A dry cough bubbled up inside his throat, and he flattened his ears, trying to keep it in, wrapping his tail around his body. If one knew what he looked like when he was healthy, and compared it to now... he looked awful. So, so skinny. He'd only chewed on moss since Stormtalon's death, so no wonder he was like a stick now, his toned muscles making it seem like he had more meat on his bones then he really did. Blizzardwind plopped down heavily on his rump, looking up at Kestrelstar with dull eyes. Hopefully this meeting wouldn't take too long.

➢ His ears perked up to the sound of Kestrelstar’s call of a clan meeting, making the tomcat heave himself to his paws and walk over to take a seat underneath the Streamstone with the rest of his clanmates. “Hm. Goosekit peered out of the nursery, sneaking away from his siblings to look out. Why did Birdsomethingsomethingstar look like his moss ball got out of camp? Or that he got scolded for being too loud?... Not that Goosekit absolutely did not know how that felt, no sirree. Ans not only that, but some cat looked up at him and, if he hadn't moved, Goosekit was sure he would've been dead! Seriously! Why was everyone so... Expressionless? Ew. It's annoying... And it was always his job to fix it. And that was what he was going to do today!

The mottled gray tom huffed and squirmed away from his family's nest, marching towards the Streamstone. He ignored any attempts to stop him and marched up, looking like a tiny little ant crawling up. When he reached where Kestrelstar perched, he glared at the tom, his cheeks puffing into a pout.

"Stop being all... Weird! You've got stuff to do, right? So stop!" Goosekit huffed, using his head to try and shoved Kestrelstar off the Streamstone, and obviously doing a very good job. The kit huffed before obnoxiously sitting down in front of the leader, trying to block his view. "Move aside: Goosestar will lead today!"

Snakeheart was tired. Just plain old tired. Training an apprentice hadnt been going as he'd hoped it would and while he was functioning, too used to grief to let it interfere with his work, the lingering pain in his heart wasnt helping the situation. The truth was he wasnt sure anymore that Reedpaw was the right choice. She quailed under his tutelage instead of standing tall as befitted her rank and he wasnt even sure if she wanted this really. Starclan had recommended her but were they right? We're their opinions even something he should even consider, he'd never cared about starclan before! No no there had to be a reason for this Sparrowskip had said reeds and he hadnt even taken her to the starcave yet (that was his own fault, he didnt care for the place given it was useless to him and with only Bounceberry there wasnt much of a point) he'd stick with this... for now.

The former Thunderclan kit heard her new leader call for a clan meeting. Was this finally her chance to become an apprentice! She sure hoped so. She had been ready for this for a while. Now it would finally be happening. She padded over to the middle of the crowd and sat down.

-->Petuniapaw and Heronflight<--

The apprentice padded over to the streamstone for the clan meeting alongside her mother. She glanced around, wondering where Blizzardsky was. Maybe he'd like to join them.

// Zesty Mango; , since I mentioned Blizz \\

-->Brightdream<--

The tom padded out of the warriors den to head to his first clan meeting since coming back.

-->Skunkbite<--

Clan meeting huh! The queen moved out of the nursery. She never once had missed a clan meeting since that was one of the things her parents and her old mentor had told her. They said it had been bad karma and it was still in hee head. Skunkbite sat down among her clanmates. She gave her overgrown belly a quick lick to comfort herself.

~Streampelt~
Streampelt was eating a very small fish in the clearing when he heard Kestrelstar's call for a clan meeting. He padded over to the Streamstone and sat down, curling his tail over his paws. He wondered what the meeting would be about.

~Fierceroar~
Fierceroar was sitting almost like a statue in the clearing, occasionally flicking an ear or just adjusting her sitting position. Her golden eyes looked around the clearing, lingering on cats or passing a cat without a second look. Her gaze quickly flicked to Kestrelstar as he emerged and headed for the Streamstone. Fierceroar stood up and padded over, already sitting down when Kestrelstar finished his call.

~Shypaw~
Shypaw was taking a light snooze in the apprentices den when she heard Kestrelstar's voice ring out. She stood up and padded out of the clearing, taking a seat next to her father and leaning gently against him.

~Lavenderpaw~
Lavenderpaw had been searching camp again for any bugs when she heard Kestrelstar's voice. She had been under something hard and she yelped as she hit the top of her head. She quickly padded over to the Streamstone and spotted Snakeheart. She padded over to him and sat down next to him, pressing against his fur.

➢ Raccoonear | She/Her | masquerade

The molly looked like a pitiful dog with her floppy ears and look of a dark cloud looming over her head as she stared down at her paws, her oceanic blue eyes boring into the gray and white hues of her frontal paws like a heavy weights crushing into them. Just as she was about to lay on her back and space out, letting her gaze freely float about and along the ceiling of the den, the yowl of Kestrelstar cut through the casual chatter of the Riverclan crowd like a knife to butter, rising above even the most bold, loud cat in the clan's booming voice. She scurried out of the den like a busy city woman, already late to work. And of course, she tripped on ah, what was it? A stick, right. SHe fell face flat, thereafter lifting her head with a scoff. She just sat there for a second, a pissed expression on her face as she stood, drawing a paw over her face and flicking the semi-melted snow off of her face. A social situation like this is rather difficult, who to sit with? Should I just sit off to the side to avoid talking to anyone at all? She stood idly, unreadable gaze skimming over the gathered cats. Her mind glazed over the idea of spotting a familiar face, but then she did. I shouldn't talk though, just sit near him. After all, he may not even want to talk. This world is so odd. She weaved through the crowd of cats below the Streamstone, sitting a few taillengths behind Snowleap. She then returned her gaze to Kestrelstar, neatly wrapping her fluffy tail around her paws.

❄ Snowleap (he/them) ❄

➢ As the tall dark-furred tomcat covered his mouth to hold a laugh, watching several young kittens scramble up onto the Streamstone, the Riverclan warrior’s long ears twitched to the sound of something hitting the ground. He turned his head to see none other than Raccoonear, who had clearly tripped, sitting there in the snow with a clearly irritated expression (and for good reason) so Snowleap decided not to call attention to him being a witness to such a thing by turning his gaze back to the scene that was occurring in front of them. However, after a few silent moments, the oriental longhair glanced behind him again to see the gray-furred shecat sitting a few spots behind him in the crowd of Riverclan cats. He lifted a paw and waved casually at his friend, a soft warm smile resting upon his maw. Both him and Raccoonear weren’t too keen on socializing with, well, anyone if they could help it, so Snowleap stayed where he was, leaving the space next to him open if she wished to join him. Snowleap didn’t push her though, knowing that she had enough on her mind these days and sometimes, cats needed space to properly deal with that. He was never one to push Raccoonear to do something she didn't want to do.

Creekfoot Of RiverClan
OPEN FOR INTERACTION

The icy wind and snow around her paws as she ambled to the Streamstone bothered her, yet she did not protest. Doing so would get her nowhere. These convocations seemed to be endless. The feline hauled herself into a sedentary position, and her orbs lit up with dismay as she dropped into the snowdrift in a failed effort to sit. Creekfoot swiftly pulled herself up out of the snow, only to lie down. When she was lying on the ground, the snow reached and just about covered her chest. She lie her head on the snow out of fatigue, still listening to the meeting, even though she did not seem to be doing so.

Dustymoth
Skipping forward towards the Streamstone, fur fluffed out much like a kits would be, was Dustymoth. Paws danced across the clearing soil as he maneuvered his way around his Clanmates, blue eyes glittering with joy amidst what he considered to be... rather sour expressions. Not that it bothered him, as he shot each and every one a smile. Kestrelstar's call had reached him from where he had been inspecting a small lump of snow, so for now with his activities abandoned Dustymoth plopped his rump down near the center and turned his gaze up towards the leader expectantly.

Sorrelhawk
A meeting? Having been away from the Clan for a bit after her brief stint with her former twolegs, Sorrelhawk padded towards the gathering crowd. Her expression was wrinkled with worry as her eyes glanced around for wherever Morningpaw was. She had yet to see the apprentice since her return. Hopefully she was still here, and did not hate her for departing ways from their herb patrol. Her heart sank a bit at the thought of Morningpaw ever being mad with her. For now, the fawn colored she-cat simply took a seat, though her gaze remained flickering around instead of up towards Kestrelstar.

She looked around at her camp. Oh, how she loved it! Especially the kits. Silversplash didn't understand how other cats could live without a clan. It was part of her. And she was never going to leave. She walked over to the kits playing in the nursery. "Anyone want to go on a badger ride?" she asked the kits. She knew they loved these sort of things.

➢ His ears perked up to the sound of Kestrelstar’s call of a clan meeting, making the tomcat heave himself to his paws and walk over to take a seat underneath the Streamstone with the rest of his clanmates. “Hm. I wonder what this one will be about.” Snowleap thought with a curious twitch of his whiskers, curling his tail around himself as he peered up at the grey-furred Riverclan leader with his icy-blue eyes. The tall tomcat hoped that it'd be nothing bad, but knowing how the clans were these days, he was prepared for anything - considering how the last meeting went.

This was his first time interacting with a kitten in Riverclan. Most kittens usually stayed far away from him, since his size could be rather intimidating to younger cats. He watched as another tomcat bent down and nuzzled Streamkit, making Snowleap realize this was Ravenclaw, the brother of Coralsplash that he had yet to meet personally. “And you must be Ravenclaw, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” He greeted the other tomcat, politely. ~ Icekit ~

"All cats old enough to swim..." That wasn't a sentence one could describe Icekit with. He was still young, and as much as he wanted to become an apprentice he was still too young for the clan's standards. Though he wasn't old enough, he could learn to swim, if someone *chough* *chough* my parents would bother to teach him.

But that wasn't something to dwell on, it was a meeting, and one should always attend a meeting. Standing up with a shake of his silvery-blue pelt, the kit padded outside, letting his gaze move over the cats already gathered there. Nothing stood out to him at the moment, though Sparrowskip was there. The shields were cats one could go to with concerns of the clan, and Icekit had questions about the rouges who had just wandered into camp like it was nothing. But that was a matter for another day, it was a meeting now, he should focus on Kestrelstar when the leader spoke, not some other cat.

Welp, she only managed to catch the tail-end of whatever the other kit was saying, and she certainly would not subject herself to the horror of asking whatever-her-name-was to repeat herself. Sooo!

As Honeystream emerged back into camp, she dropped a scrawny mouse onto the pile of food. It was all she could find in this bothersome snow. Lip curling slightly at her deposit, the young feline turned an ear to her leader's call. Things had seemed tense and divided in camp as of late. Well, between some. Her leader himself had seemed off. Turning her attention to the gathering crowd, the orange tabby weaved between others and dodged kits. An amused purr released from her throat at most of the young ones and their excitement.

With a quick glaze over the cats she thought of who to sit with. Snowleap was one she thought to approach, but quickly lots filled around him. She figured she could jest that group later. Flicking the tip of her tail as she scanned for someone else to amuse herself with, Honeystream settled on Creekfoot.

Shaking the cold off her pelt, fluffing it out, Honeystream made her way to the female warrior. "Lookin' a little cold there, Creekfoot." A soft glint hit her eyes to soften her words. It was moments like this she was grateful for her slightly longer fur. "Maybe the good news of this meeting will spark something for all of us." Pushing some snow out of the way with her paws, a small circle formed - barely big enough for two cats, but it could work. Tilting her head in an offer, Honeystream curled her tail around her paws for warmth and made some room for the other cat if she wanted to join.

Open! Honeystream is fairly kind, likes to crack jokes and have a battle of wits. She's not a fan of outright disrespect or rudeness. A semi flirt. Will put anyone in their place. Has a temper that she tries to lock down.

The young warrior ran in through the camp entrance and found a place within the clearing. His muscles ached. He'd done a lot of exploring as an apprentice but the newfound freedom of warriorhood gave him new life to explore more, further, longer. He found himself spending more time along the Shadowclan border though he'd been trying to separate himself from his fascination with the clan on the other side of the border, and the cats that came with it, but every time he tried to distract his mind he found it wandering to Honeypaw, dredging up questions and speculations that he didn't care to address. What was wrong with enjoying spending time with another cat and not wanting to have to question everything he was feeling? He sighed and looked up to Kestrelstar, trying to put his sleepiness and sore muscles to the back of his mind.

From atop the Streamstone everything was viewed in a different light. Familiar faces became smaller, expressions harder to read. One gaze in particular did not rise to meet his, and for a brief moment Kestrelstar looked uncomfortable on the rock. A leader of nine moons, and he shuffled his paws momentarily. Whitepaw and her news spun like a records in his mind as he sought out another gaze in the crowd. This one was more tired, and for a moment a pang of sympathy struck him. He would have to speak to him about it in private, that was for certain.

One figure that did catch his gaze was Blizzardwind, and Kestrelstar was alarmed at the state of the warrior. Skinny, fur ragged. The death of Stormtalon had rocked the deceased warriors former mentor as well. Guilt hung heavy in his heart, as he had not sought out the older tom yet to make sure he was doing alright. So much had weighed on his mind that a few things were falling to the wayside. Perhaps he could make time after - and convince the ghost of a cat to eat something.

Kestrelstar wasn't given much time to linger on it though before his yellow eyes noticed a rather... odd sight. Scrambling up onto the Streamstone was... Goosekit? His eyes stayed fixated on the kit, mouth agape just slightly as he spoke of him being weird. Words stuck in his throat as his whiskers twitched, his shock doubling when he noticed Mountainkit pulling herself up and attempting to butt Goosekit out of the way. The sight seemed to freeze time as the leader stared, shocked at the kits.

Then, his whiskers twitched, and for a moment a gentle warmth wrapped around his heart. Something he only felt as his head curved against Plumstorm's, or while laying on his back next to Junipersong, or on walks with Snakeheart... A smile unfurled on his face as he gazed down at them, taking a seat. Any other day, any other time, the leader would've been annoyed. He would have cast the kits down, scolded them on how they dared sit atop the Streamstone. But it... felt nice. Their innocence, it reminded him of a scene generally kept in the back of his mind... Late greenleaf, sunlight warming the ground; a beetle being chased by a certain dark furred paw. Curious emerald eyes tracking its movements, even as it wove its way through lighter gray fur. Opposite were tense muscles refusing to move, before finally the first gaze rose to meet with frightened yellow ones. A mumble of gratitude for not moving. It was a memory that was locked into his mind by the chains of loyalty and love. Storm. Gone, but ever so present in small moments such as these.

[ Ritsuka DeltaDace ]
"I'm alright, but thank you both for coming to check on me. You both are very brave for climbing up here." Most likely unrecognizable to his Clan below during the exchange - he was definitely not known for his niceties towards kits or apprentices - he rose to his paws again. "Let's bring you back down for now though, okay? I wouldn't want either of you to take a tumble from here." Picking the two kits up in his jaws, he expertly maneuvered his way down the rocks and let his gaze sift through the crowd.

[ LeoDaLeaf ]
Neither of their parents were present at the meeting, so Kestrelstar laid his eyes on the next best cat for the job. Padding over towards where Pumpkinsprout sat for the meeting, he delicately placed both Goosekit and Mountainkit on the ground. If there any shocked stares or gasps - Kestrelstar treating a kit nicely??? - the RiverClan leader didn't see them. "Could you watch these two for me, Pumpkinsprout?" With one last smile towards the kits the leader turned and bounded back towards the rock, easily scaling it once more.

There was more idle chatter floating through camp as Kestrelstar raised his tail. His mind worked to organize how he wanted this meeting to go; start with the good first. Always the good. It would give him time to prepare for the... not so good. "The kits of RiverClan, everyone," Kestrelstar joked lightly, laughing a bit as he felt himself lighten up a bit. Stars, who knew he'd just need two kits to come check on him? "We have a few of them among us today who are ready to begin their warrior training. Ryekit [ doof ], Cherrykit [ Willowflame ], and Pondkit
[ Angelique ]," the gray tabby called, nodding towards the older Pondkit since there were two (thank the stars that was changing). "Step forward, please."

The Molly blinked, it wasn't the first time she had been asked to look after a kit during a meeting but she still didn't enjoy being singled out during the meetings. PumpkinSprout nodded to Kestrelstar "Of course"

The former kittypet looked to her paws where Mountainkit and Goosekit stood, she let out a small sigh as she remembered that Whisperkit was still missing. "How about you two sit next to me and listen to the meeting? Unless, you want to go play moss ball quietly with me?" she smiled at the two kits gently.

She wasn't sure if she would be allowed to play with the kits during the meeting but there was no harm really, Sure she might miss a ceremony or two but plenty of cats would still cheer for them. Anyways, it's not like any cat even notices me. I'm not very important. she curled her fluffy orange tail around the kits Kestrelstar brang her.

I wonder is Whisperkit is okay... there's those coyotes.. and dangerous Rouges.. heck even kittypets could harm- or even kill- her... her thoughts drifted to her pretty windclan friend, Hazelcloud would probably help her look. ❄ Snowleap (he/them) ❄ // Howlpaw+ //

➢ “That sounds like a lovely idea, I’ll take you up on that offer,” The tall dark-furred warrior meowed to Coralsplash, his whiskers twitching as he spoke. It was nice to have another clanmate to go out hunting with him. Maybe they could go back to the streams in Riverclan’s hunting grounds and do some fishing, those had to be mostly thawed out by now, right? Snowleap hoped so. After being scolded by Snakeheart for getting bitten by a land prey animal, the young warrior wanted to keep his distance from hunting on land in general - unless it couldn’t be helped, of course. His icy-blue gaze flickered over to another small kitten that had joined their small group. This one, however, did not acknowledge him and simply went up to Streamkit. Snowleap’s ears perked a little, listening to Ravenclaw and the young tomkit greet the Riverclan shekit - Cherrykit. Huh. Such a sight of affection made the oriental longhair think about the idea of having kittens of his own someday. Maybe he’d pitch the idea to Lynxfall if he managed to join Riverclan someday, but at this point, he didn’t know when that would be. Shadepaw and Lynxfall were out there somewhere, probably hanging around the twolegplace after escaping Shadowclan. He couldn’t know for sure and he sure as hell wasn’t going to go out there to find out (for multiple reasons). Snowleap shook his pelt gently, stopping himself from thinking about these things right now. He wanted to focus on stuff that was happening in Riverclan right now, not that. If he did, Snowleap would surely pass out from anxiety or something to that degree.

Directing his full attention back to Kestrelstar, the tall tomcat chuckled quietly as he watched the gray-furred leader deal with young Goosekit and Mountainkit as the two young Riverclan kittens disrupted the clan meeting. A soft smile came to Snowleap’s expression as he watched the older tomcat speak to the little ones in a kind and even somewhat proud way. He wasn’t familiar with Kestrelstar’s usual feelings towards kittens, but it was wholesome to witness regardless. The tall feline watched silently as the Riverclan leader gently returned Goosekit and Mountainkit to ground level where Snowleap and his clanmates were sitting. As that was all taken care of, the dark-furred warrior relaxed more as the clan meeting officially started - with some kits becoming apprentices! How lovely. The name ‘Ryekit’ sounded familiar to him, soon realizing that was the kit that Raccoonear had mentioned to him briefly in the past. This ceremony will surely bring a smile to her maw, or at least he hoped it would. His friend deserved some happiness in her life and he felt partially guilty for not being able to provide that for her. The small gray tom scrambled from the nursery nearly tripping on his older brother who was a moon older than him. Hissing in pure annoyance he cast a glare towards him before continuing onwards into the clearing to take his spot in the crowd. He watched in amusement at two other kittens climbed the stream stone and how kestrelstar did absolutely nothing except bring them back down. His ears pricked at the mention of two new apprentice’s and watched eagerly.

Shoulders hunched, head down, the tom kept his gaze to the ground as if the dirt had tried to kill him. The intense glare shifted from the earth to a small kit, Spottedkit, his face melted into a look of grief. Every time he looked at Spottedkit he remembered her. Not because the kit looked like her, but it was because Silverspot was so close with the kit. He wanted that relationship, he wanted to be the parent she never had, maybe it would fill a void for both of them.

Yarrowkit nearly ran over to the about-to-be-apprenticed kits, and go with them. Her face turned into a pouty scowl. Her tail began to move back and forth. It was SOOOOO unfair!!! She was just as smart as them! “I want my apprentice name!” She bellowed.

Creekfoot Of RiverClan
_____

Creekfoot lashed her tail, shaking the snow that had gathered on her pelt off. "I AM cold, but it seems you already got that." She heaved herself into a sitting position next to the cat who had spoken to her. What is with this mousebrain! she thought out of annoyance. "At least someone payed attention." Creekfoot muttered. Raising her voice a bit, she hissed, "Or maybe, the meeting will be the other way around." Her mew seemed to have a venomous hint to it, a warning. She turned her head to face Kestrelstar, who was already speaking. Maybe Honeystream was right. Maybe this meeting would something for the clan.

Frozen’paw couldn’t help but purr slightly in amusement at the kits, scrambling up the StreamStone to check on their leader. Surely they would make loyal warriors one day.
He gazed around slightly, looking for the older kits, ready to join him in the apprentices den, remembering fondly about how when he became an apprentice. He had been so nervous of making a fool of himself on his big day, it felt like so long ago but it had only been a moon or two.
Frozen’paw wondered if he would be that nervous for his warrior ceremony.

Though being considerably late to the meeting, Thrushcry had caught the majority of what Kestrelstar had said. Something about him talking to two kits nicely, and something else about kits becoming apprentices. Eh, he'd find out in a minute whenever Kestrelstar spoke again. The snow speckled his tan back as he made an effort with his short legs to reach the crowd of cats that gathered in front of him a couple of tail-lengths away. The snow had piled up enough to make it difficult for the fawn-colored tom to step, let alone run.

Finally reaching the side of Sorrelhawk, he gave the molly a nod of greeting and then returned his green gaze to Kestrelstar once again. This was going to be a major meeting, Thrushcry could feel it in his (halfway-frozen) paws.

Plumstorm watches the tom atop the streamstone as those kits swarm him. She turns her head away as a smirk threatens to crack through her otherwise straight-faced exterior. In doing so, she catches sight of Creekfoot with a rather sour look about her. The shield's giddiness thankfully melts away and instead she observes the couple from where she sat for a few heartbeats, hoping that whatever was being muttered between them would remain hushed.

Goosekit beamed. Hah, Kestrelstar called him brave! Take that, everyone! He sent Mountainkit a crooked smile, but his expression immediately changed to one of shock and offense when he felt the leader carry him by his scruff, and dropped him off in front of Pumpkinsprout. Wha...? NOOOOOO.

"You can't contain me!" He squeaked, squirming around furiously. How dare they! He felt a tail curl around him, and he turned to the queen, about to challenge her, and stopped when he saw her expression. Why did everyone look like that breathing corpse over there?! Ugh... Goosekit had his work cut out for him. Seriously... But for now, the little mottled gray tom obeyed and remain silent, a pout on his face. He'd have to personally complain about everyone being like this to Kestrelstar later: this could not go on!

The senior tom noticed Kestrelstar looking at him, and felt his fur grow hot with embarrassment. He was failing, falling apart. And his Clan leader was watching it happen. Watching Blizzardwind fall from what he used to, and the old tom feared that he was approaching rock bottom. He avoided his leader's gaze, a strange move considering had things been at least somewhat normal, he would have met Kestrelstar's eyes with a challenging look, but he couldn't bear seeing... disappointment in his leader's face. Tired, bleary eyes and scarred ears turned to a young kit. Yarrowkit, was it? He huffed softly. The most common thing a kit squealed during a meeting. I wanna be an apprentice! He flicked his tail at the kit, nodding his head to try and make the kit feel comfortable sitting near him. He could at least be of slight use doing that, if anything.

''Don't worry, he'll make you an apprentice once you're ready.'' The old cat murmured, laying his tail down limply beside the little molly. ''But first you have to show him you're ready by being respectful.'' He sounded like an old coot, but at least he was trying. ''Try to copy how Plumstorm is sitting, because I'm sure she was respectful during Clan meetings when she was a kit. And now look at her, she's a good warrior. You want to be a good warrior, don't you?''

It worked for about five seconds, getting the kit to hush. Then she started talking again. Damnit. He sighed, and wrapped his tail gently around her, trying to.. calm her down, maybe? Was that even possible? Remotely? He sighed softly, ''You will be a great warrior, I'm sure.'' And the she was quiet, therefore he was quiet, and he looked up at Kestrelstar, not wanting to miss anything but ready for- That. Yarrowkit's voice again. A tired smile formed on his face, and he nodded. ''Yes, you did. Good job.'' He wasn't going to tell her to be quiet anymore, stifling the joy of young ones was something he did when he was healthy. ''If you behave during the meeting, I'll teach you an apprentice move, okay?'' He offered up. It would be better then drowning in sadness and anger.

Mountainkit’s eyes shone as the RiverClan leader looked down at them. Did he really compliment her? He did compliment that rowdy Goosekit though, he’ll probably be scolded by whoever takes care of him after the meeting. The tabby then felt Kestrelstar’s jaws clamp around her, and she started to squirm around slightly. Thankfully, she was let go from the jaws of Kestrelstar and dropped onto the ground.

Mountainkit listened to the leader ask a cat named Pumpkinsprout to watch them. Goosekit needed some cat to keep him on a vine, but not her! The chocolate kit tilted her head upward so that she could look at whoever was taking care of her. Mountainkit never really spoke with her, but she seemed kind so she wasn’t worried. The molly wrapped her fluffy tail around the two kits, and Mountainkit felt comforted in the warmth of Pumpkinsprout’s tail. The molly seemed tense about something, as she curled her tail tighter around the two kits. Mountainkit tried to do something about her worried guardian, and she stared to lick the molly’s tail.

Maybe she could make friends with them, or at least talk to someone. She was grasping at straws for anything new to happen to her, sure, and only in part because she hadn't had any proper training in ages, even with her participating in as much as she could, but they were nice straws. Meetings were something the golden apprentice had been finding more and more boring by every passing one. They had their uses, for shouting out news, and giving other cats new mentors (better mentors than she seemed to get), bit the only thing she had gotten out of them was to know who her next supervisor should be, because that was what they were, supervisors, none of them had been around long enough to be considered a mentor to her yet.

~ Silvernight

A bright smile shone on the silvery cat's face as her deep blue eyes followed the three kits. With a slight chuckle at herself she remembered a few weeks back when she had wished so much for an apprentice. She had gotten her wish , somehow, and could see the cat in question, Birdpaw, The little cat was special, in what way Silvernight wasn't quite sure yet, but she had a feeling she had to protect her apprentice, this was her first one, ever, and she wasn't going to let anything happen to the fluff ball. At the same time, she didn't want to teach Birdpaw quite everything about fighting and battles. She was supposed to, she was the cat's mentor after all, but was the apprentice ready for something so... serious. Birdpaw was a mess of sunshine and joy, who was she to show the rag-doll how cruel and bloody the world could really be.

His pelt itched, and he turned to scratch his ear, his matted, dull pelt shook as he scratched. He looked back and Spottedkit and smiled weakly before turning back to the ground. The scarred tom watched idly from his sitting place, merely raising an eyebrow as Kestrelstar gently set the kits back down from the Streamstone. An unexpected sight, but certainly not an unwelcome one. The leader had looked a mess the last time Goosefury had seen him in his den and it was a nice change to see a smile on the his face for once.

-PumpkinSprout-

"hm? Wrenkit your not normally shy-" she looked down at the brown tabby kit who ducked behind her and was watching Mountainkit and Goosekit. Perhaps this change was from her missing sister Whisperkit... then PumpkinSprout saw Wrenkit's face, is she... Jealous?

PumpkinSprout turned her head to look back up at Kestrelstar where the leader was continuing the meeting, trying to convince herself that Wrenkit wouldn't be jealous of the two kits. She was lost in thought when she felt a small lick on her tail. What the-? PumpkinSprout looked down at Mountainkit who was licking her tail. "Mountainkit what are you doing?" she blinked at the chocolate brown she kit confused. PumpkinSprout heard Mountainkit's brother's complaining earlier but more or less ignored it. She didn't care if Goosekit didn't like her, not may cats did since she was a kittypet before she joined the clans.

PumpkinSprout uncurled her tail from the two kits and pulled Wrenkit from out behind her with it, against the tabby kit's will, and curled it around all three kits. She was somewhat surprised at how much room Wrenkit took up, (corret me if I'm wrong) Wrenkit was bigger than the two smaller kits put together perhaps it's because Wrenkit was five moons old where as the other two were much younger. She curled her tail from around the three kits again and placed Wrenkit on her left side leaving Mountainkit and Goosekit on the right. "Sorry if that was a bit squishy for a bit there" PumpkinSprout smiled gently at the three kits, her mind started to drift back to Whisperkit and a sader look over came her face.

What if Whisperkit wasn't getting enough food.. it's Leaf bare and it's been snowing.. she could be frozen to the ground! fear sparkled in her green eyes, there were alot of dangers of being out in the cold.

She doesn't understand anything that goes on here. A twinge of loneliness made the ginger cat's heart ache a bit. In all honesty, she wanted to stomp up there and let the cannon loose for all to hear. But what will that solve? I'll be tossed out again to defend for myself, she thought darkly. ➢ Ryekit | He/Him |

Letting loose a small scoff, the small blade of pale, wheaty
ryegrass waved and swung from its place between the kit’s
parted jaws, paws shuffling. Once again, Raccoonear was
busy chatting with that purdyboy, Snowleap. Oh, how he
hated the guy. Always stealing Raccoonear’s attention,
what a mousebrain, useless as gum on the heel of a boot he is.
He sat at the door of the nursery as more scornful thoughts
drifted along in a typical southern accent through his mind
faster than green grass through a goose, it was like his little
thought engine was loaded with offensive southern gimmicks like a
fresh gun to ammo. Scuffing one paw against the ground, his envious
gaze burned into the back of Snowleap up until he heard his
name in the familiar voice of Kestrelstar. Truth be told, he’d
never heard the guy so soundin so happy, his usual tone
lately had been the kind people who’d just made friends with
the floor used. For a split second, the tom-kit sat there, pondering
why his name was being called, paperthin pupils having a staredown
with what seemed to be just a leaf. Staring at something random
helped him focus and think properly. Oh. How could I be such a
numbskull? Really, if brains were leather, I wouldn’t have enough
to saddle up a junebug, I’m so dumb sometimes.

Rising from where he sat in front of the Nursery, the sandy
kit walked slowly, ducking his head. Normally, he was a social
doofus, but only around elders and his friends…just Raccoonear
for that last one, but still, it counts. If it’s not one of those two,
especially in crowds, he just can’t handle these sort of things,
and yeah, he really needed to improve on that, but how?
His steps felt heavy, like there was an anvil on his back, getting
heavier by the second as it wobbled on his tiny body. He finally
arrived at the small area of clearance as he stood before the
Streamstone, toughening up a bit. Tch, you’re in front of a
whole clan of cats, as well as your fellow young apprentices, and
Kestrelstar. Look tough, make an impression and prove you’ll be
a great warrior next time you get called up here, honor gleaming
across your deep green eyes. He stood up straight, his gaze
suddenly confident as his gaze met Kestrelstar’s. A grin creased
his white speckled muzzle as he emerged from the puddle of cats,
pawsteps not so weary and heavy anymore. Fake it to make it was
true here, just trying to look confident made him truly feel like the clans
were in his paws. Now, just…keep eye contact with him. Don’t break it, don’t ruin this.

➢ Raccoonear | she/her | masquerade

That’s your cue, fool. He’s waved, now go sit with him,
he actually wants to talk, congrats. Don’t ruin this with your dry
conversation skills. Her tail wrenched up behind her as the
harsh thoughts filed into her mind like and endless troop of
soldiers, all attacking her self-esteem with heavy, loaded guns
ready to fire. Although she did take the suggestions into account,
as well as ponder on whether or not she was too cynical to herself,
and took harsh to herself. Before taking a beat too long to react,
she saved the moment and scooted up, a small grin polishing
her face as she turned over to Snowleap, silently praying
he, or anyone, had seen her clumsy facefall in the snow.
Despite the fact she had made friends with the floor, they
weren’t a pleasant guy to be friends with, sometimes new
friends aren’t at best.

“So, how’ve you been doing, my friend?” She asked
in her usual morning voice, soft and quieter than usual. She
found it funny, that a cats voice can be completely different
at different times. Huh-? Ryekit, apprentice? Finally, he’s
deserved this moment his whole life! He’s so well prepared,
the little guy would be ready for a dog wearing clown
makeup to approach him on a casual walk! As she awaited
the dark-furred tom’s response, she continued to think
positive thoughts, for Ryekit. Rye paw is catchy, what will
his warrior name be? Maybe I should suggest one to him,
or play some games with him like a warrior name guessing game?
Ryegrass, Ryelight, Ryesun, Ryescratch, Rye— oh, there’s so many
possibilities in his future…he could even be a shield one day!
I love thinking of little Rye’s future, it’s so bright, he won’t
screw over like me and end up being the reason your brothers
scrambled, leaving your family in ruins…he’ll be amazing.

Despite a little outburst from Yarrowkit - quickly handled by Blizzardwind, which Kestrelstar was glad to see - there hadn't been any major distractions. It felt... nice to run a meeting where things went over sort of smoothly. It a cat had told him that this would've been the case four or five moons ago the RiverClan leader would've laughed. But maybe that's what happened as he settled into his role more and more, feeling more comfortable and confident in actually leading his Clan than having them lead him.

[ puro. ]
One warrior who rose their voice though garnered a glare from Kestrelstar, yellow eyes sending a piercing glare towards Creekfoot that had one message: quiet down. He did not like the tone at all with which she was speaking, and made a note of it to speak to her later. There were no other words spoken by her, so for now he decided to move on. If anything, he took note of Plumstorm sitting near them and had confidence that his Shield would be able to handle any outbursts.

Another warrior - Silversplash - seemed to leave the meeting altogether, which Kestrelstar didn't appreciate. Meetings certainly weren't mandatory, but he saw no point in coming if they were just going to leave before it had even really begun. Another note to speak on later, but for now there were kits that needed mentors.

[ Papaya Beancat ]
It seemed he had spoken too soon on the meeting going by uninterrupted however, as Kestrelstar noticed something spoken between Lilyfang and Spottedkit. He was unsure what it was until he saw Goosefury step up and state that the kit should remain in camp. Yellow eyes filled with shock - was Lilyfang suggesting taking a kit out of camp in the middle of leaf-bare?? "Lilyfang, I would like to speak with you after the meeting." His tone was even as he spoke, giving a curt, grateful nod towards the Shield before turning it back onto the three kits who had stepped forward.

[ tye ]
Although he noticed one who was certainly ready for their ceremony, and Kestrelstar had yet to call them. He hesitated briefly - this was, of course, a kit under the influence of Blizzardsky. But she was definitely much older than the kits and it wouldn't hurt to get her training started now. "Spidekit, I apologize. Step forward as well," he called, beckoning the kit forward to join the other three.

"Ryekit, Cherrykit, and Spicekit, you all have reached the age to become apprentices and start your warrior training. Pondkit, you join us from ThunderClan, but are at the age to become an apprentice - why they did not give you your ceremony seemed beyond me." What was happening to ThunderClan? Cats being kicked out, kits leaving? Whatever it was, he wanted RiverClan to stay out of it. "Until you complete your warrior training, you shall be known as Ryepaw, Cherrypaw, Spicepaw, and Pondpaw." Yellow gaze flickering out over the crowd, he continued on with the mentors.

"Thrushcry [ juniiper ] you will mentor Ryepaw [ doof ]."

"Stormflurry [ Ritsuka ] you will mentor Cherrypaw [ Willowflame ]."

"Brindlefeather [ sid ] you'll be training Spicepaw [ tye ]."

"Grayshell [ seeingstars ], you are still a new warrior but I trust that you will instill what it means to be a RiverClan warrior into Pondpaw [ Angelique ]."

Next were the reassignments, which frankly Kestrelstar was getting tired of doing. Warriors going missing severely disrupted the training of the younger generation and it was growing into a painful thorn in his side. "A few of your mentors recently have gone missing, but I won't allow that to halt your training."

"Eaglepaw [ KingWolf ] your new mentor will be Snowstripe [ Silverfur & Co ]."

"Amberpaw [ Sklee ] you will continue your training with Dawnwillow [ Jaxon ]."

"Eveningpaw [ seeingstars ], Marshglare [ Froya ] will be your new mentor."

"Sunpaw [ Egasl ], your new mentor will be Silentstalk [ Leafí ]."

"Mistypaw [ StormQueen ]..." This one was hard, as her mentor had been Stormtalon. Would still be Stormtalon if the stubborn dark furred tom were still alive. Swallowing a bit, he continued. "Blizzardwind [ poppy. ] will be continuing your training." He knew the warrior needed some sort of distraction in the wake of his former apprentices' death; hopefully this would be one.

"Pebblepaw [ corgigirl ] since Horsetail has been demoted to Horsepaw following the discovery of his secretive meetings with an exiled warrior," Kestrelstar shot a quick displeased glance towards the demoted warrior, before looking back at the apprentice, "Goosefury [ Papaya ] will oversee your training until your mentor proves he is a loyal warrior once more." That was all that Kestrelstar would say on the subject; Horsepaw had built his own nest, now he had to lie in it.

There was one more thing he needed to do, after having noticed that there were two kits who shared the same name. "Generally, this does not occur so I have no need to do this, but it has come to my attention that there are two Streamkits in RiverClan. One recently returned to us from being missing." Kestrelstar swept his gaze around to look for the kit. "Streamkit [ ChillyCiabattas ], you will be now known as Bluekit to avoid any confusion," Kestrelstar said, nodding towards the correct Streamkit (now Bluekit).

Stepping back a moment, Kestrelstar allowed a few moments to pass for the mentors and apprentices to find each other before he would move on with the other announcements.

With another smile at Yarrowkit, the old tom relaxed slightly as the meeting continued on, smoothly. Narrowed slate eyes focused upon Kestrelstar as the other tom began the reassignments. Mistypaw. Stormtalon's apprentice. Mistypaw lost a mentor, he lost an apprentice. Kestrelstar would need to give her to a good cat for training. He watched as the leader fumbled slightly, then he heard his name. Surprising, but also not. The senior warrior looked around for Mistypaw. At least most of the training Stormtalon gave her was probably from Blizzardwind in some form.

A choked sigh escaped him, and he closed his eyes for a moment, the search for Mistypaw lost in his emotions. He could do this. This was definitely not his first and (hopefully) not his last. He had trained others before her. He planned on training a few more after this. ''She won't need another reassignment, I'll make sure of that.'' He growled to himself. If only Stormtalon was still around- then she wouldn't need to be reassigned. But at least he could make sure his former apprentice's last apprentice became a warrior, in honor of Stormtalon.

The gaunt silvery white tom opened his eyes, resolutely looking up at his leader. He wouldn't let him down. Glancing around for Mistypaw, he hoped she wouldn't be too hard to work with. At least they both had motivation in mind, to make Stormtalon proud.

(sorry about the short reply, didn't really have much time to write it!)

Mistypaw had not really been paying attention to the meeting until she had heard her name called. A mentor reassignment. The she-cat dropped her head as she thought of Stormtalon, tears threatening to come. Blizzardwind. She stopped short. Hadn't he been Stormtalon's mentor?

She padded over to the warrior, choking out a few words, But they were meaningful. "So... you were Stormtalon's mentor once?" she asked, looking at Blizzardwind through a wall of grief.

Ryekit— no, Paw, grinned, pride beaming and radiating
from his stance as he stood even taller. I’m an asset
to the clan. I will help the clan now, I can help, I am help.
At last, I’ve found my time, my place in this world, as an
amazing apprentice. But not for Kestrelstar. Those diehard
warriors who are just oh-so loyal, no, no, no. Not me. I’m
going to be a fabulous warrior for myself. Give myself the
assurance and pleasure of knowing that I am an amazing
warrior who would win a fight against a fox, and snarl in the
face of danger, strutting forward through the crowd of cowards.
I’ve found my place now, and now, I need to find Thrushcry.
The tom cast a small smile towards Kestrelstar before making his
way through the crowd, swear until, weaving and ducking through
the mass of cats pooled in one area before the Streamstone,
analyzing each one, their body language, words, and tone. That
one seems as nervous as a fox in a fit, tone movement and
posture, all that jazz. This guy seems to just want to be deputy, I
can tell, I’ve noticed him tripping over his little paws, busy as a
chicken on a hot roof, trying to impress the foggy eyes of Kestrelstar.

Ryepaw adjusted the wheat in his mouth and prettied up his
messy fur and disgraceful and embarrassing puff of fur on his
head as he noticed the tan pelt, and dusty green eyes of

southern gibberish that’s always wandering around in your mind?
Fox in a fit, moth in a mitten, busier than a badger on a hot tin
roof, quicker than a dog on my tail, okay. I’m good, I’m not losing
my country charm. It’s just these odd, significant moments in life
that make me all serious. Okay. This is very important, think
carefully. You just gotta- touch noses, right? This is fine. He gave a
charming grin and a casual wave before touching noses with the tan
warrior, his own deep green eyes flitting closed for a split second
before he pulled back, nearly dropping his blade of ryegrass that
always, and I mean ALWAYS, rested between his maw. “Howdy,
I hope to grow close and have the best of times!” He smiled.
I’ve searched and waited on Hell’s Half Acre for this moment,
and at last, it’s here. I’m glad.

He couldn't quite grasp why they weren't getting kicked out but decided to shrug it off. It was their lucky day, Wormbite supposed. His gaze flickered about as the tom began, calling out Lilyfang to meet with him after this. Hm.

He sat back calmly as kits were being made into apprentices. It tugged at the corners of his lips, threatening to make him smile. Apprentices were reassigned to different mentors which well, Wormbite was more frustrated at. Failed mentors were always a subject that managed to get under his fur. If he could, he would whack them with a stick. Perhaps that would give them the better skills to teach.

Honeystream wiggled her whiskers with amusement. Creekfoot was a lot more feisty than she thought! She loved it. "At least someone payed attention."
The orange warrior couldn't help but give a hint of a laugh. "I was a good student!" Focusing her green eyes onto Kestrelstar, she heard his mention of kits becoming apprentices. She held her breath for half a second. She wanted an apprentice. Badly. She would never admit it, but Honeystream wanted to prove herself to her clan. Irritation prickled underneath his pelt as some of the names he called for mentors did not show their faces. In fact, come to think of it he hadn't seen some of them around camp in awhile. He let a soft growl escape his lips, though it could not be heard from how high up he was. Blame it on his lack of sleep, or the millions of thoughts that spun in his head now that he was without a deputy - regardless, Kestrelstar hated it when he messed up.

What also irritated him was cats just leaving the meeting before it was done. Yellow eyes followed Dawnwillow as she made her way out of camp, making a note of it. As much as training was important, so was staying and listening to meetings. But for now, the gray tabby leader wouldn't speak on it.

A sudden outburst of laughing drew his attention once again to Creekfoot, who was sitting next to Honeystream. Apparently the warrior had not caught his glare a moment ago and Kestrelstar though of saying something now - but it, too, could wait.

"Apparently some of our warriors find that showing up to meetings is rather boring, and the training of our apprentices not important," Kestrelstar continued, not bothering to hide the displeasure from his face. Stars, if these were the warriors he had to select from, his hopes for picking a deputy dropped a bit. There were only a select pawful of cats he could think of that would fit the job, but the selection pool was growing smaller and smaller.

Fixing his gaze back on some of the apprentices who would have no luck in finding their newly assigned mentors, the RiverClan leader sighed.

"Eveningpaw [ seeingstars] I do not see Marshglare among us. Your training will be handled by Honeystream [ Carmela ] instead." He shot a quick warning glance towards the warrior, silent doubt clouding his mind as he observed whatever it was that was so funny between herself and Creekfoot. Hopefully this would get her to pay attention.

"Sunpaw [ Egasl ], you're in the same situation with Silentstalk. I can't recall what his missing record is but it is quite a lot, so your training will instead continue with Fierceroar [ ~Fierce~ ]." Recently demoted from her Shield position, Kestrelstar figured that the she-cat could use a small distraction. Hopefully she would stick around for Sunpaw's training.

"A few more apprentices need to be re-assigned - if you have any trouble with your mentors, you need to let me know." He was about done with reassignments; they took too long and usually apprentices went through quite a few of them.

"Quietpaw [ Clock Dragonshifter ] your mentor hasn't been seen either. Hazelstorm
[ eclipse. ] will continue your training."

"Goldenpaw [ Singing Jay ] you've seemed to have rather bad luck with mentors. Hopefully Creekfoot [ puro. ] will be your last." Again, caution flooded his brain in assigning the she-cat an apprentice, but he needed to give her some sort of responsibility - she seemed far too comfortable as a warrior.

Kestrelstar stepped back only a moment to allow the last batch of apprentices and mentors to find each other, yellow eyes shifting around, before lifting his tail once more. "We continue to be blessed with apprentices completing their assessments with flying colors. Two among us today are ready to become warriors. One did excellent during her assessment and is now ready to become a warrior, and the other..." This was it, hopefully the she-cat was not upset with his decision (though, the day the cream and white molly was not upset with anything he did would be the day he became a ShadowClan warrior), "has shown a type of bravery in carrying on. She passed her assessment awhile ago, and deserves to be recognized. Featherpaw [ Silverfur & Co ] and Morningpaw [ littlelove ] please step forward."

The apprentice had honestly thought her previous mentor, Rippleglitter or whatever their name was, would have stuck around longer, but apparently yet another mentor of hers had gone missing. How many was it now? Lets see, first was Blackflame who never showed up, than Driftbreeze who seemed to go missing RIGHT AFTER Goldenpaw got reassigned to them, then Bumblefoot had seemed more promising, but he had disappeared two, then Streamtail had been the most embarrassing one, since he had trained one of the cats who Kestralstar called up to receive their warrior name (at least she thought she could recall him saying something along the lines) but even he had gone missing right after getting her, and come back within a week or so (I'm sure it wasn't personal, I'm sure it wasn't personal), and now her most recent one had gone who knows where. Now it was time for Creekfoot to prove how useless even they were.

"Sup." She mewed shortly as she padded up to the cat she could recognize as the warrior Kestrelstar had named. Once upon a time, she would have introduced herself, her name, and what kind of training she had had before, but why bother, not like they would stick around anyway. "If you could just bother staying in the clan for a bit that'd be great." Her voice was monotone and calm as she quickly told the warrior before turning back to her leader. She was sure it wasn't Kestrelstar's fault the mentors he picked for her all went away, but she could still feel the slightest sting of pain inside her as she got the news yet another cat had left. It couldn't be because of her, right? "It can happen once, twice's a coincidence.... three times is pattern..... so what about 5..."

Plumstorm sits quietly in observation of the ceremonies, noting none of the new apprentices being given her way. A part of her felt glad- Misfortune befell her and seemingly those connected to her. Another part of her though was sad, a bit. Having been unsuccessful in keeping Saltpaw, and then Irispaw... Was Kestrelstar going to refuse her the opportunity from now on? The silver she-cat frowns, looking at her paws for a spell.

And then comes Morningpaw's warrior ceremony. Her blue eyes lift to the apprentice Stormtalon saved.

January 29th, 2022, 12:47 PM
Roused from a fitful sleep from inside the medicine den, Morningpaw's glazed eyes scanned the clowder of gathering clanmates as she stuck just inside the entryway. Even if she had started healing, more often than not she lacked the energy - and courage - to go out and face the clan. So she stayed in her spot, reclused inside the shade provided by woven reeds.

She was only half-paying attention to the meeting from her perch, body aching from ears to paws. Whatever fiery feeling the wounds on her side were constantly firing off was thankfully dulled by the blustering cold. Part of her couldn't help but long to be out there with the rest of the clan, though she knew how little she deserved that. Morningpaw couldn't even pay attention to Kestrelstar's words after she'd let Stormtalon, his best friend die - see? She couldn't repeat anything he'd said from the last few minutes. She knew from routine that she'd probably skimmed over apprentice ceremonies and mentor reassignments, and now he was onto any warrior ceremonies - she knew some of her other peers were nearing the end of their training, so it would be no surprise for their names to be calle--

The calling of her name jolted Morningpaw out of her stupor, her heart skipping a beat as she stumbled to her paws in surprise. Oh no. Oh no no no. This was happening now? She swallowed anxiously, eyes flickering across the crowd in front of her. There was no way she could skip out on this, was there? Slowly, she began her trek from seclusion out into the snow.

Her march across camp was nerve-wracking. She could swear she felt multitudes of eyes on her as she made her way across the clearing, steps still snow and uncertain from pain. She willed the cobwebs plastered to her side from falling off into the snow - she didn't know if she could cope with the feeling of cold wind on the bare wounds. It took all too long for her comfort for her to finally have made it in front of the crowd, alongside Featherpaw.

A bitter taste flooded her mouth. So many more cats should have been here. Her father, Stormtalon, Irispaw... and most of all, a smoke-grey tabby should be standing beside her, dirty-amber eyes glittering. Instead, the space to her left was painfully empty - a sore reminder of what had been spirited away over the past 10 moons.

Her eyes steely, Morningpaw refused to let her face show the vulnerability the rest of her body did.

Coming to her feet the warrior of RiverClan lifted her head and met her leader's gaze, giving a firm nod. She would do her best and help produce another fine warrior. She was certain of it. Waving her tail to the young cat she started walking towards him, stopping just about half way.

Looking down at the two cats before him, Kestrelstar grins. He recalled when he had first found Featherpaw in the territory all those moons ago - so far back it felt like a different lifetime. And She had been so quiet, steps light as air, which is why he had given her the name of Feather- in the first place. She had grown quite a lot since then, finally earning a place amongst RiverClan as a warrior.

Then there was Morningpaw. Combative, opinionated, strong-willed. A cat who did not back down easily and who carried unseen weight on her shoulders while not even batting an eye. So much loss he could feel it radiating from her. Stormstripe was still recovering in the medicine den, and Kestrelstar had yet to see Lionshade make an appearance. Deep anger burned in his belly - the warrior had come back making a promise to be with his daughter, only to turn and disappear again, and it made the leader want to shred his pelt. But the cream and white apprentice - he knew she would forgive her father without a second thought no matter how long he'd been gone. Still, he knew it must sting to not have the cat here that she probably thought would be here.

"I, Kestrelstar, leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of our noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in their turn. Featherpaw [ Silverfur & Co ], Morningpaw [ littlelove ], do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" His voice was steady, though waivered a bit towards the end. Yellow eyes flickered back and forth, lingering momentarily on Morningpaw. She hid it well, but the gray tabby knew of the grief she felt. The sorrow, anguish. He remembered his own ceremony, the one Duskfall had not been present for - it still stung him to this day if he thought about it hard enough.

➢ As the oritental longhair watched the meeting continue forth, his ears twitched as he heard Raccoonear move to sit by him, making Snowleap glance at the shecat and smile warmly at his close friend. “I’ve been doing well, nothing too exciting though, things have been a bit… slow in my life lately” He meowed, his whiskers twitching as he usually did as the tomcat simply shrugged his shoulders, “How are you doing though, my dear friend? It’s nice to talk with you again after our recent adventure at Lionsbeach.” He noticed the gray-furred shecat take notice when Kestrelstar called Ryekit forward to become an apprentice, making the young warrior smile up at the clan leader while continuing to talk quietly with Raccoonear. “It must be very exciting for him,” Snowleap remarked, lightly nudging her with one paw, “You must be excited as well -- and very proud too.” The dark-furred Riverclan tomcat didn’t know much about having such a relationship with a kitten, but he could tell that it was an important day for both Ryepaw and Raccoonear. He hoped that someday he’d be able to feel the same pride she did for him, mayhaps with little ones of his own. That wouldn’t be anytime soon though. Despite that, Snowleap seemed to share Raccoonear’s feeling of happiness during this meeting. It was nice to be a part of it, seeing young kittens become apprentices and apprentices become Riverclan’s newest warriors now. He became respectfully silent as Kestrelstar spoke further to complete the warrior naming ceremony, giving Morningpaw and Featherpaw their warrior names.

The she-cat growled at her new apprentice's tone. "I'll be staying alright. And this time, you'll get proper training and discipline." Creekfoot snapped, lashing her tail with annoyance as she glared at Goldenpaw. "Yet you seem to have a lot of nerve." She felt a crawling sensation on her back. This would be difficult, wouldn't it?

"Be thankful i'm sticking around to train you."

Flicking an ear, Plumstorm catches the tone of a particularly unfriendly warrior speaking down to their brand new apprentice. She looks over to Creekfoot, prepared to scold them quietly, but hesitates when she realizes who they were growling to. Goldenpaw was no joy for the silver fae. The apprentice had been rude, distrustful, and all around hostile towards her in the past. Still... Standing, the shield slips closer to the two and leans in close to her denmate, lips drawing back. "That is no way to talk to your new apprentice, Creekfoot. Shut up and observe this ceremony in silence before your leader has something to say about it."

Hopefully that would get the dourly she-cat to think twice before threatening the apprentice- Neither were very good, but one should have known their place.

Despite the comforting smile the leader gave her, Morningpaw couldn't help but feel the gaze of the rest of the clan burn into her back. Instead of the appreciative or admiring looks she'd always imagined them with as a kit, it instead almost felt... scorning. Her pelt felt like it'd been set alight, a burning feeling worse than any of the wounds on her sides had given her thus far, as she resisted the need to shrink down and away from their sight.

A part of her rational brain knew that none of that was happening - not a single set of eyes was looking at her with distaste, they couldn't rip open her skull and gaze into her thoughts or her memory of that day - but like a churning whirlpool, her head forced the fact that they all had to know the truth to the surface,

THEY ALL KNOW.
again,
THEY ALL KNOW.
and again,
THEY ALL KNOW.
and again.

It disrupted any semblance of a coherent thought she had prior. So much so, that she didn't realize Kestrelstar had been talking her way; until he was staring right at her, that was. She was sure an embarrassingly long silence had lapsed between Featherpaw's vow and hers. Her gaze unchanged despite the turmoil in her thoughts, she rasped out the last words she ever would as an apprentice.

"I do."

Streampelt had been sitting quietly, wrapping his tail around his daughter and listening to the announcement. Then he pinned his ears back as he realized that it had been his apprentice. He didn’t feel as bad for Goldenpaw, as she had been done with her training already but he still felt some guilt. Streampelt then sat straighter as he heard Morningpaw’s name among the two names called for a warrior ceremony. Morningpaw was becoming an apprentice? While Honeystream waited for Eveningpaw, she watched on with joy as Featherpaw and Morningpaw made their way to Kestrelstar. She was fondly reminded of her ceremony and how it felt. However, her moment was fleeting as she heard Plumstorm lash out at Creekfoot.

The warrior might have been abrasive to the apprentice, but that was just Creekfoot's way and wasn't directly mean. "Plumstorm, I couldn't help but notice their exchange didn't involve you. How about you turn your attention to Featherpaw and Morningpaw? I'm sure they would appreciate it." Her voice was quiet, low. It seemed nice enough but held a tone of "mind yourself". Turning away from the Shield, Honeystream flicked her tail once and waited for her new apprentice and for the new warriors to be named. Nothing bothered her more than others taking something and making it bigger than it needed to be. Sure, Creekfoot could have spoken in a kinder tone, but she hadn't said anything that could be harmful to the young cat. Shield or not, Plumstorm needed to chill. Besides, every warrior was granted an exchange with their new apprentice.

Despite the emotion that welled in him at this part in the meeting, Kestrelstar still had ears on his Clan. He still was paying attention to everything going on. And what he heard - he did not like. Casting an apologetic glance to Morningpaw and Featherpaw, the RiverClan leader stepped around them, making his way through until he stood before Creekfoot, Honeystream, and Plumstorm. "Creekfoot, speak like that to an apprentice again - one who has gone through quite a bit of bad luck with mentors, I might add - and you'll be cleaning out the elders' den for the next moon." Words were sharp, like razors.

[ Carmela implimm Singing Jay seeingstars ]
He was grateful that Plumstorm had stepped in, and the way Honeystream reacted only fueld the irritation left over by her companion. Turning his head to look at the warrior, he shook his head. "Unless you have forgotten Honeystream, Plumstorm is a Shield of RiverClan. Which means she has authority to make a warrior talking like Creekfoot did her business. I will tell you what is not appreciated - you inserting yourself into something that did not concern you." His gaze flickered back and forth between the warriors and Goldenpaw. "I was wrong to give either of you an apprentice. Goldenpaw, Eveningpaw, please go sit with Plumstorm until I can figure out who will be continuing your training, because it will certainly not be these two."

Already enough time had been distracted from the meeting as he cast Creekfoot and Honeystream one last glare. "Speak another word on it, and you'll both be solely responsibile for removing every tic from our elders for the next moon." With that, he nodded slightly to Plumstorm, gaze neutral, before turning and taking his place before Morningpaw and Featherpaw. "Let's continue this, shall we?" He gaze was once again apologetic as he nodded to them.

"By my power as Clan leader, I give you your warrior names. Featherpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Featherspirit. StarClan honors your kindness and courage, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan." Kestrelstar stretched his head forward to rest his muzzle on the top of the she-cat's head. He was proud of her, he'd admit. From a tiny kit in the territory to a brand new warrior. Pulling back, he gave her a nod and a gentle smile before moving on.

Yellow eyes lingered on Morningpaw briefly. But there was no grief in his eyes like their normally was, nor was their any aprehension. Instead, just pools of pride. "Morningpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Morninglily. StarClan honors your tenacity and candor, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan." He hesitated briefly, knowing that the she-cat was not - nor had ever been - his biggest fan. Especially since their last encounter, the last thing he wanted to do was position her in an uncomfortable situation. But with the eyes of the Clan upon them, he figured she wouldn't want any delays much more than he would, so gingerly he moved his head forward, letting his chin hover just above her head.

"Stormtalon would be proud to see you today. As would Lionshade and Smokepaw." Kestrelstar's voice was soft, gentle so that only Morninglily would be able to hear him. He had not known the other members of her family well, but knew that her father and brother would be endlessly proud of her. Pulling back, he locked his yellow eyes with hers. "You are an irreplacable member of RiverClan, Morninglily. Stay true to who you are, and I have no doubt that the other Clans will come to respect you as I have." Another soft smile as he nodded towards her before taking a step back.

Tilting his head back, the RiverClan leader began the chant, eyes cast towards the sky where the stars were hidden by daylight. He knew somewhere up there, Stormtalon was staring down, and hopefully his friend was just as proud of Morninglily as he was.

~ Hollowkit ~
Hollowkit peered up at Kestrelstar as the tom started the meeting. She noticed two kits climb up to him and she rolled her eyes. Dumb kits, only leaders went up there! She didn't really know their names, there were too many kits in the nursery and most of them didn't talk to her. She blinked in surprise when Kestrelstar was extremely gentle with them when he thanked them for checking up on him and kindly guided them back down. Weird. If she was him, she would have been very annoyed with them. Then he started off with some Apprentice ceremonies. Oh how she wished she was in their place. If she were an apprentice, she could actually contribute to the Clan! The kits got their new names, Ryepaw, Cherrypaw, Spicepaw, and Pondpaw. Hollowkit called out the names like the rest of the Clan, but with less gusto than them. She didn't know those cats, but she supposed having less kits in the nursery would be better. More quiet.

Kestrelstar continued, speaking about mentor reassignments. Now that was annoying. She couldn't believe some cats had just left, leaving untrained apprentices without mentors! What horrible cats they were. She would never abandon her Clan like that. She felt bad for those apprentices, especially the ones who boldly stated they had been through a lot of mentors. She hoped she would never have to go through that. Then Kestrelstar mentioned Horsepaw, just as Hollowkit had known he would. She remembered having the conversation with the former warrior, he had looked so pitiful and depressing. At least he looked a little better now. Maybe he had listened to what Hollowkit had said about trying to be the strongest for the Clan so they would accept him back as a warrior. He still looked pitiful though.

Kestrelstar continued with mentor reassignments! Hollowkit was shocked at the number of incompetent warriors. How would she ever get a good mentor when she became bigger if all these cats just disappeared? A couple of cats were yelling at apprentices and each other, which made Kestrelstar speak about reassigning their apprentice again because these cats apparently couldn't handle it. This was getting ridiculous! When she became a warrior she would never leave, never get into pointless arguments, and train all the apprentices she was given! Speaking of becoming a warrior, two cats were called forward to say their vows. Hollowkit perked up as she watched. It was so emotional, the ceremony. She hoped hers wouldn't be too emotional. She watched as the cats solemnly promised to protect the Clan and follow the warrior code. That is when they received their warrior names, Featherspirit and Morninglily. Hollowkit sat up and decided to chant the names with excitement this time. This time, the moment actually felt special to her. "Featherspirit! Morninglily! Featherspirit! Morninglily!"

Dumfounded. Absolutely dumbfounded. Honeystream couldn't help but let her jaw hang open for a moment. Quickly, she snapped it closed with an audible click. Every fiber of her being screaming to say something. For the way half of these warriors spoke and didn't show up, or even continue their work!

Not wanting to take from the new warriors any longer, Honeystream was going to try and have an audience with Kestrelstar after. She could admit to having kept her mouth shut....it just didn't seem fair how Plumshade acted. Having that title shouldn't let a cat act how one did where it's wrong and they get away with it. No one learned that way. Irritation ran like ants down her spine. Digging her claws into the dirt she did her best to chant the new warriors' names instead of something else. She had lost her first apprentice. The fire sprang up in her chest. Eyes stung with frustration. She couldn't hold it back. She knew meeting with Kestrelstar after was the better bet, however, watching Eveningpaw go to someone else...it would hurt. More than she was willing to admit.

Once the chanting subsided the orange cat let out a soft call. "Kestrelstar, even if this gets me tick removal for a moon or more, may I speak with you when you're finished." For all the words that burned behind Honeystream's lips, this was the best she could do.

The golden apprentice was about to give a sharp jab back, or at least a look, just to even the score, when Plumstorm stepped in, and before Goldenpaw had time to completely react, yet another warrior inserted themselves into the conversation. Stars above, if this was going to spiral into an argument she swore she'd... breath, Goldenpaw, you've held yourself together for forever, you're not snapping over this mess. Opening her mouth a second time, to just sort things out, she didn't even have time to start before she was drowned out by her leader shape voice from the Streamstone.

Didn't this whole meeting just go perfectly. She staid quiet while Kestrelstar dealt with her mentor and the other warrior, Honeyspring, until he told her and the other apprentice, Eveningpaw, to go and sit with Plumstorm "until I can figure out who will be continuing your training". Another mentor down the drain. All her mentors had gone missing within like a moon, but a few heartbeats after getting her? That had to be a record. Sighing she rose up and "went to sit with Plumstorm".

Her light green-blue gaze followed Morningpaw and Featherpaw as the two stepped up to receive their full names. Morninglily and Featherspirit... One day she could... would stand where they did now. If her mentors would have been around more, she might have been a proper warrior by now, a cat seen as more valuable and taken more seriously than she did now. But how long would it be until that day? Who would be her mentor by that time, and would they have trained her at all? What if it was her fate to just go through mentor after mentor until Kestrelstar deemed her too old to stay an apprentice, and kicked her out of the clan, maybe thinking it was her fault her training was going nowhere.

Blizzardsky's eyes grew wide as he saw a cat he believed to be dead, he let out the softest whisper," Spicekit" Frankly, the tom wasn't the most attentive cat in the clan. No one had mentioned that his daughter who he believed to be dead was actually alive and had returned home. Let alone becoming an apprentice. He found himself standing up in shock not even paying attention to the apprentice's becoming warriors," You're alive!" he meowed as he approached Spicepaw, not sure what else to say.

The oriental smiled softly - it was hidden, unlikely to be noticed by anyone around him. "Morninglily, Featherspirit!" He changed out, his voice lost among the others. New warriors always filled the older tom with a sense of completion. Wormbite was glad to see new generations rise. Speaking of new generations, his ears pulled back as kits began to cause chaos.

He fidgeted, assuming their parents would come and break up the snowball fight. This was a time for respect - not playing. Wormbite's expression turned into a scowl and he stood up. Right. Right. Kits... He shuddered, pausing. "Lizardsong!" He mewed out, calling the Shield to his side. He didn't need backup it was just... kits were difficult enough.

The lanky Tom made his way towards the kits, towering over them. "Streamkit. Yarrowkit, " He started off, "Clearly your parents have not informed you of manners. You do play at a meeting, this is highly impolite. Either settle down or return to the nursery where you can play, " Wormbite scolded, his whiskers twitching.

The muscular tuxedo cat had noticed the playing kits. She, however, did not know how to react. She didn't even understand why they were doing this. She'd never played as a child, only trained and learned. So she assumed someone with emotions better handle this stuff.

But then she realized Wormbite, her fellow shield, was requesting her assistance with stopping them. Mind you, he called her the wrong name. Was he even referring to her?
"Uh, my name is Lizardfrost." she replied calmly before joining him. He seemed to have said everything hat needed to be said.
"Why are you like this? What purpose does this bring? Please stop." she said, assuming that this was reinforcing his point.

His gaze flickered over the wheat-colored apprentice with a soft smile. Ryepaw reminded the tan warrior of his younger days (which weren't that far behind him) and his own ceremony just like this one. The excitement that flooded through his body as a young apprentice struck through him once more as he grinned widely for the feline infront of him.

Sitting back on his haunches, he motioned with his tail for his apprentice to take a seat beside him in the snow. The little white flurries dotted his pelt and his paws, but Thrushcry shook them off in an attempt to stay warm. "Get used to sitting by me, kiddo. From now on, you're a warrior apprentice!" He meowed to Ryepaw with a warm, friendly tone. "After this meeting is over, we'll be heading out and taking a trip around the territory, might even teach you how to fish on your first day."

His green orbs then traveled back to Kestrelstar as he spoke again. "Morniinglily, Featherpirit!" He chanted along with his clanmates in cheer for the new warriors. RiverClan was thriving finally, all they needed now was a strong deputy that could keep them on their toes and have Kestrelstar's ultimate respect.

**Codwhisper**

The young spotted warrior had missed the interaction that had sparked Kestrelstar's attentions towards Creekfoot, Honeystream, and Plumstorm. He cocked his head at the punishment. Speaking back to a Shield was brazen but losing their apprentices over it, he figured it must've been harsh. What grabbed his attention more so was Creekfoot's reaction. Was every warrior in this clan's first reaction to run from their responsibilities? There wasn't much that put Codwhisper into a bitter mood, really he couldn't think of anything that got under his pelt, except disappearing warriors. He recognized that his distrust towards so many of the Riverclan warriors as a whole was likely a result of his endless rotation of mentors from his not long passed apprenticeship and that frustration he felt was only reinforced by every apprentice he talked to sharing a similar experience to his own. Then all of the warriors who never attended meetings or left part way through, and now Creekfoot storming out like a rebuked kit. Goldenpaw was likely better off with somebody else as mentor anyway, hopefully.

He put a smile on his face as Morningpaw and Featherpaw received their warrior name, knowing just how proud he'd felt not too long ago when he'd been in their same position. He called loudly, "Morninglily! Featherspirit! Morninglily! Featherspirit!"

Hazelstorm
Moving away from Quetpaw as quietly as possible, the tabby sat down at the sidelines, pricking her ears. She turned her head around to see Plumstorm, Creekfoot and Honeystream... huh. Looking closer as Honeystream spoke, Hazelstorm angled her ears towards her, catcing a few words. didn't involve you... sure they'll appreciate it. The brown cat assumed Honeystream was talking to Plumstorm and curled her lip. Either Honeystream had forgotten that Plumstorm was a Shield, or that that she-cat was just a bad cat.

Green hues flashed to Kestrelstar faster than the wind as he spoke again. Creekfoot had to cause trouble during a warrior ceremony. Seriously... an exasperated puff left her lips as Creekfoot screamed and stormed away, like a kit throwing a tantrum. Scorn expressed itself clearly in Hazelstorm's disgusted expression as she stared after his disappearing tail. She swung her head around as Honeystream spoke and the tabby turned her gaze back on Kestrelstar, wondering briefly what she was going to say to him. She flicked her slightly fluffy tail in annoyance, and then chanted out, "Morninglily, Featherspirit!" with the rest of her sensible Clanmates.

The silver molly bites her tongue at the response she got for once- typically she'd have absolutely no reservations about snapping into another who truly and utterly deserved the bite. But this time, she had a funny feeling that Kestrelstar would back her. And when he does, she has to really really try hard not to flash a triumphant grin at the other she-cats.

Surprisingly reliable, aren't you, she thinks with wry amusement, glancing up at the tom on the streamstone and blinking slowly. Waving her tail then, Plumstorm nods Goldenpaw and Eveningpaw closer while Creekfoot legs it and Honeywhatever hisses up to their leader. "Oh, I wouldn't bother," she hears herself whispering to the warrior. "He's already agreed to head out this evening with me- Perhaps you can speak with him another time though? I wouldn't want to stand him up." The shield couldn't help it- She had to say it, even if it was a lie.

But the fun doesn't stick, and her attention is stolen momentarily by the glowering apprentice who was instructed to join her. Nose crinkling distastefully, her focus is not long on Goldenpaw before the names of the two new warriors are announced. Turning to them both again, Plumstorm shuts her eyes and inhales slowly. When nothing comes out of her mouth, blue eyes reappear under feathery lashes, fixed on Morninglily. Pale gray lips press together before spreading into a soft smile. "Featherspirit and Morninglily," the silver femme murmurs. A proud day for RiverClan.

Streampelt’s eyes were trained on the ceremony and he looked at the interrupters with a fierce green gaze. He looked back at Kestrelstar and his ears were perked, straining to catch every word. He smiled the biggest smile he ever conjured and lifted his head up high to chant the new warrior names. “Featherspirit! Featherspirit! MORNINGLILY! MORNINGLILY!” He was proud of his previous apprentice and he knew that she would make the best warrior ever.
:heartbounce: littlelove :heartbounce:

~Fierceroar~
Fierceroar listened to Kestrelstar speak and every time directed her gaze to the cat he was talking about. So she saw the cats who were causing trouble, interrupting the meeting. They were ruining it for others, especially for the to-be warriors. This was the most exciting ceremony they would probably experience and it was just cruel to interrupt it. She settled her gaze back on Kestrelstar and her golden eyes glowed as new warriors were officially made. “Featherspirit! Featherspirit! Morninglily! Morninglily!” She chanted the new name with a bit of pride in her voice. She didn’t know them personally but she was proud just the same.

~Shypaw~
Shypaw scooted a little ways away from her father. She knew who Morningpaw was and she was going to become a warrior so she knew this was important to him. She watched the ceremony with not full concentration but she knew to be polite so she did listen. She heard Kestrelstar’s voice ring out the new names. Featherspirit and Morninglily. She chanted them silently in her head.

~Lavenderpaw~
Lavenderpaw hadn’t heard Snakeheart say anything and she hadn’t felt or seen him to anything so she settled in listening to the meeting, something that she didn’t do quite often. But it seemed that this was a more important meeting. Two apprentices were becoming warriors. That would be her up there someday. A smile popped up on her face as Kestrelstar said the new warrior names. “Featherspirit! Morninglily!” She said the names only, not very loud.

As badly as Morningpaw wanted to squeeze her eyes shut under the leader's gaze, she stood steadfast and stared straight back at him. She knew it would be better to shy away from this ceremony, to hide in the corner of the medicine den like the coward she was, but something kept her rooted in place - an early bud all but begging to be killed by the frost. She managed to spare a small smile Featherpaw's - now Featherspirit's - way as she received her new name, and her gaze flickered up to meet Kestrelstar's.

Seeing the pride in his eyes felt like an ice cold spear was shot through her chest. She knew that he was pouring his heart out trying to cheer her up - and how unworthy of that help she was. How many facades had she put up for her clanmates to still think she was good?! An anger towards herself bubbled in her chest as she finally screwed her eyes shut. What she would give for her mind to finally blank, even if she knew she deserved this muddled mess of a consciousness. She was hardly paying attention as he uttered her brand new name; Morninglily.

Kestrelstar's next words, surprisingly enough, granted that wish. The new warrior just about short circuited as he uttered words about those she'd lost. The drip-dropping of warmth onto her paws and melting the snow below alerted her - In an instant, the pit in her stomach had dissolved and bubbled out of her in the form of hot tears. Morninglily desperately searched for something, anything to say in the midst of her breakdown in front of the clan, but nothing came out when she parted her jaws. For the first time, her heart laid bare in for the whole of her clan to see. Instead, all she could do was lean in and close the space the leader had left between them, his chin touching to the top of her head.

The moment was over just as quickly as it started. Kestrelstar had pulled away, leading the chant for the new warriors and leaving Morninglily dumbfounded by the resulting chorus of her and Featherspirit's names. She turned back towards the crowd, eyes wide in shock. So many more cats were cheering for her than expected; Streampelt's voice was the loudest. Despite the haze of guilt floating at the edges of her mind, she cracked a small, yet grateful smile. It was all she could do to not turn into a weepy mess.

His first focus was on the warriors before him. An ear flick was the only indication given that he had heard what Honeystream said - and, by relation, what Plumstorm had said. It took quite a bit of the will power he had to contain the smirk that developed on his face. If Honeystream didn't already realize the sharp tongue that his Shield had, she definitely would now. If anything else was said about the meeting or the take away of apprentices, Kestrelstar was certain that Plumstorm would be able to handle it.

Oh, great stars above. Why was it that warriors wanted to act like kits at meetings? The leader stifled a small growl as Creekfoot let out a screech that flattened his ears and darted out of camp. Pathetic. It only served to reinforce his decision of selecting different mentors for the two apprentices. Still, on top of a disappointed look he gave no other reaction to the warrior darting out of camp. He'd simply let her own actions speak loud and clear.

[ x ghostie Shade. Wintermist Howlpaw+ ]
It seemed that warriors weren't the only members of the Clan unwilling to pay attention, as two kits had taken it upon themselves to start up a snowball fight in the middle of the clearing. Kestrelstar normally despised kits, but could only offer a soft sigh as he nodded to both Morninglily and Featherspirit, turning his yellow gaze onto Wormbite and Lizardfrost who stepped in. "Make sure one of you keeps an eye on then." he advised before turning and bounding back atop the Streamstone.

With the chanting dying down, there were still a few things he needed to do. The results of the ice race that Snakeheart had hosted and... Talonkit. His heart clenched at the mere thought, eyes drifting into a small pool of grief. He wondered if it should even be announced - yes, yes absolutely. Any death deserved to be.

"While today is a blessed day for the Clan, and I am proud of the new warriors and apprentices, there was an incident that was reported to me earlier. Talonkit was found... outside of the camp walls. He was alone, and by the time he was found... it was too late." Constricting and cutting off anymore words, Kestrelstar's eyes found Whitepaw in the crowd. He wouldn't point her out as the one who had found him, for he didn't think she wanted that sort of attention, nor the questions that it would most certainly bring. "He has been buried in the thicket... But please, let this be a warning. Leaf-bare is harsh. It is unforgiving and it does not care of your rank. Especially kits - it is imperative that you remain inside the camp walls where it is safe."

The leader took a small, short inhale of air before continuing. "Furthermore," this would be the hard part, as he had not yet spoken to Snakeheart on the issue. Not that he would point him out by name, but it was an issue that had to be addressed. "Warriors, you must understand the weight your words have on those younger than you. Apprentices, kits even... they look up to you. It is the duty of our Clan warriors to protect the Clan and defend the Clan, yes, but it is also our duty to raise the future warriors of the Clan. I... have not been the best example of this in the past, as I know some of you look to me for answers. But it will not be tolerated any longer - not anymore, and not from any cat regardless of rank." He didn't let his gaze linger on any one cat in particular, because Kestrelstar didn't feel the need to make it into something bigger than it already was.

"For those that wish to hold vigil for Talonkit, I will be taking a small party to the Thicket for him at dusk." Not something he had normally done in the past, but stars above it was going to change. Any death was too much and Kestrelstar was done allowing deaths to seamlessly slip past RiverClan without a proper acknowledgement. Call it change, call it development - but he was done.

"This meeting is dismissed." With that, the gray tabby leapt down from the Streamstone and glanced at Featherspirit and Morninglily. "I'm sorry your warrior ceremony was overshadowed by those whos egos were too big for our camp to contain," he murmured softly to him, a genuine apology glimmering in his eyes. "You're both welcome to observe your vigil here guarding camp, or accompany me and others to the Thicket." Dipping his head, Kestrelstar moved past them and stood at the camp entrance and awaiting any cat that wished to join him for the vigil.

[ any cats that wish to join kestrelstar for the vigil, i will be creating a private thread for it - simply have your character approach kestrelstar stating they wish to come along. note that this is not mandatory, and not required; your character does not have to sit vigil if they do not wish to or if they did not know talonkit that well. as part of his character devleopment and riverclan's development as a whole, he is going to start holding vigils for clanmates who have passed away ^^ ]

Fawnspring
He had only just been released from the med cat den and this is what he comes back to!? He could have told the clan about talonkit first and then the warriors that would’ve brightened the mood a bit at least but he couldn’t suppress a pang of sorrow for the lost kit. His aching scarred limbs stung in the cold air as he struggled to get up on his paws dang my paws still twisted slightly and it still feels a little…broken better let snakeheart know . Holding his left paw up at a awkward angle he shoved himself upwards onto his other limbs. He didn’t even think he was supposed to be out of the medicine cats den but he couldn’t help himself if kestrelstar called a clan meeting he was going to be there even if he was a little…late? How much had changed while he was out…how much had me missed…how much…had he forgotten! His mind went blank quite a few times but it all usually came back all except that night when he was injured all he remembered was his best friend wormbite! That’s right where is he? casting glances around the gathered cats trying to at lest find his missing friend. He didn’t even remember anything after he had met him that day all he remembered was wormbite.

It was just all so fuzzy, all his memories and thoughts where a blurr as he spun around with wide worried blue eyes. Was he ok? Where is his friend now e-excuse me your stepping on my tail- the sudden exclamation startled Fawnspring making jump and go unbalanced as he toppled over. But as he reopened his eyes a small gray face was peering down at him with concerned amber eyes I’m ok- and sorry about your tail, hey wait are you new to riverclan I’ve never seen you around? he knew it would be fairly rude to ask but the curiosity about this kit was arousing his own curiosity. Yes I’m new? I’ve never seen you before although I’ve only been here half a moon so…oh yeah! My names kestrelkit! Fawnspring purred in amusement or…he at least tried to purr but it more or less came out in a harsh growl almost tone. I’m Fawnspring. The reason you haven’t seen me around is because I’ve been in the medicine cat den although I’m pretty sure I’m not allowed out just yet- Fawnspring heaved himself up into a sitting position.

Kestrelkit
Oh…so someone died…how terrible he knew just how it felt to loose someone you love. He hadn’t even spoke to talonkit but maybe they could’ve been good friends just maybe they would have been great friends if he had met them sooner. A pang ripped at his heart as he thought of the grieving friends and family of the lost kitten…he didn’t know exactly what a vigil was just yet but it’s sounded almost like a thing to remember the lost. He was just about to get up when a paw landed right on his tail holding his down but as he turned to snap at who it was he froze. The tom before him resembled that of a small fawn but…great starclan he was covered in scars and cobwebs and smelled of herbs. His right ear was torn and his left eye was covered in scars and his throat has a huge scar going’s across it as did his shoulder and hind leg. The tom was holding a twisted paw up in the air as he balanced on his other three paws.

He seamed deep in thought and well kestrelkits tail was deep in agony right about now-E-excuse me your on my tail… but those words seemed to startle the older tom who took a tumble to the ground. He hadn’t seen him around before and quite honestly if he had he would remember his battle scarred body. Kestrelkit peered down at the brown tom as he lay seemingly unconscious but as he got closer he opened his eyes. I’m ok-and sorry about your tail, hey wait I haven’t seen you around are you new? the way he spoke sent chills down his body. He had never heard any cat sound like this one did. His voice was so deep and and it almost sounded like a growl it terrified and interested him. Oh yes I’m new! My name is kestrelkit and I’ve never seen you around before? the purr the older tom released was even more frightening than ever he clearly didn’t get good luck in battle. My name is Fawnspring and the reason you haven’t seen me is because I’ve been trapped in the medicine cats den

Mustering up his courage, Brittleshore forced his old bones to get up. "I want to attend the vigil." He meowed, voice just loud enough to, hopefully, be heard by Kestrelstar. ❄ Snowleap (he/them) ❄

➢ The tall Riverclan tomcat watched in silence and disbelief as the scene regarding Honeystream and Creekfoot unfolded. How could warriors stand to act like that? He couldn’t help but ask himself that, softly shaking his head before turning his gaze back to Kestrelstar, who soon returned to continue the meeting. His expression seemed to falter and his long ears flattened at the gray-furred tomcat’s news - a Riverclan kitten named Talonkit has died. The young tomkit had been found outside of camp, all alone in the freezing season of leafbare. Snowleap’s body seemed to tremble slightly at the thought. He hadn’t been a kitten when he had come to Riverclan during leafbare, but he hadn’t been an adult yet either. Something about that tugged at the dark-furred tomcat’s heartstrings as he looked down at his paws, thinking about things. His ears twitched at the sound of Kestrelstar announcing that he’d be leading a party to grieve for Talonkit. Snowleap had never been a part of something like that before, never being around when such a tragedy had happened in the past. Though the whole situation reminded him of when his mother once told him about his littermates who had died alongside him when he was born. Too weak. Too small. Too young for him to even know them.

This made him rise to his paws, leaving Raccoonear, Coralsplash and Ravenclaw where they had been all sitting together without a word. Snowleap made his way over to Kestrelstar, who was awaiting cats at the camp entrance. “I didn’t know Talonkit, but I would like to attend.” The young warrior said, his tone soft and sorrowful for the loss of a little one that he didn’t even know. He thought of Ryepaw and Spikekit, two young tomcats that he had been with while hearing a story from Brittleshore. Talonkit was probably a lot like them. Young, innocent, excited to hear stories and become an apprentice, just like any other Riverclan kit. He needed to do this. Snowleap felt like as a Riverclan warrior, he had a responsibility to mourn one of his own clanmates, just like many other cats were doing. His tail lashed behind him, these emotions confusing him.

Honeystream heard Plumstorm and felt her skin prickle. This cat was not her favorite. Or even likeable. How she was made a Shield was beyond her. Hearing her words the warrior refrained from laughing. The Shield's words weren't necessary and completely not related. "Well, I hope you guys have a great time." Giving her a curt nod, Honeystream felt a lot of judgement from others. She couldn't believe the self-righteousness of them. What, no one laughed with another before? No one spoke curtly? They were all yes men and Honeystream decided to not pursue much else other than surface level relationships in that moment. Just because you were a Shield didn't mean you got to be a badger.

Talonkit's death did affect her. More than anything else. Not the drama, not the loss of an apprentice, not Plumstorm and her pettiness. A grim expression made her face fall. Not caring how she was perceived, the orange warrior made her way to Krestrelstar. Standing beside Snowleap, Honeystream spoke with a heavy tone. "I would also like to sit for Talonkit." What if that had been her sister, Yarrowkit? Shuddering at the thought she waited to go mourn with her Clan.

-PumpkinSprout-

The orange tabby winced at the mention of a kit having died only a little bit away from camp, Whisperkit is long gone now and she's probably dead. Her mond drifted back to her friend Hazelcloud, perhaps she would help PumpkinSprout look for Whisperkit.. even if it ment finding a body.

She swept her fluffy tail away from Mountainkit [ Ritsuka ] and Goosekit [ DeltaDace ], now that the meeting was over they were free to do as they pleased. PumpkinSprout turned to Wrenkit [ flopsy ] and blinked at her gently "Would you like to attend the vigil?"

Death was a hard subject, especially with kits, and although this wasn't the first death that had happened in camp during her daughters' lifetimes PumpkinSprout thought that this one might scare the kits a little as the cat who died was Talonkit.

PumpkinSprout wasn't sure if she would attend the vigil or not, but if Wrenkit wanted to she would go.

Her head leaned into her mother as she took in her scent comforted by her presence. Taking steady breaths she raised her head at the part about Talonkit being dead. She had seen them around in the nursery plenty of times before and she couldn't believe they were gone. Wrenkit had never thought about going to a vigil before but she owed it to go to her fellow clanmates' vigil. Green eyes looked back at her mother's green eyes and with sadness. Where were her siblings they were never around? And one of them unlike her never made it back home. She hoped that Whisperkit would come back soon. "Mhm." she would want someone to sit vigil for them it was only right.

Plumstorm's warm expression melts away when a more somber note follows the warriors' ceremony. She watches the leader as he speaks of Talonkit, her lips pulling tight into a frown. It was a tragedy and indeed, in a way it fit this meeting. With one triumph was another downfall. And yet still, what concerned her more was the way Kestrelstar spoke of the words they speak, and what they meant to young ones. It wasn't difficult to connect those dots, no, and her chest suddenly ached fiercely. Despite never truly feeling as one with RiverClan, the silver shield knew that apprentices and even some kits were having a hard time... Looking for role models where sometimes there were none, or hearing the wrong thing from the right cat. Her heart would break for them.

Casting her powder blue eyes down to her paws while the meeting breaks up, the she-cat takes her time to reel her mind back in and soothe her heart. And finally when she felt prepared, she slips away from camp on the trail of the tom who held it.

As those warriors approached him, offering to come with for the vigil, Kestrelstar dipped his head. Featherspirit was no surprise, as were Wolfsong and Moonfrost. Others began to join, though one voice in particular made his fur bristle.

Yellow eyes swung to Lilyfang, fixing her with a glare. "Did you not just offer to take a kit out during the meeting?" he snapped, not bothering to hide the distaste from his words, or quiet his tone to a whisper to spare those around from hearing. "Talonkit died because he was outside of the camp walls, and you come asking to grieve for him when you were going to do the same thing with Spottedkit. Absolutely not. You will remain in camp until I am back and can think of a suitable punishment for your careless mindset." Kestrelstar had no patience for incompetent warriors; one more instant like that from Lilyfang and he had half a mind to kick her out of RiverClan. Endangering kits by bringing them out of camp? What was wrong with his warriors??

Honeystream approached next, and Kestrelstar regarded her with a rather guarded expression. He would have to straighten out her blatant disrespect for the Clans' Shields later, but for now he gave her a stiff nod at her request.

Pumpkinsprout and Wrenkit also approached, and the leader gave a nod. Looking around to those who had joined, and those who maybe still wanted to, Kestrelstar sighed. "Follow me," he called to those around him - shooting another pointed glare that gave a silent order to stay put at Lilyfang - before turning and exiting camp. He didn't need his eyes to know that a specific silver feline was following him out; her sweet scent danced around him and offered some solace against the bitter breeze of death.

He was getting... better. At least his fur was groomed and he had eaten, so nothing about Kestrelstar's outward appearance seemed worthy of any worry. Part of him still ached in the aftermath of Stormtalon's death (they probably always would) but the gray tabby was beginning to realize that the ocean of grief before him... didn't have to be handled alone. He had Clanmates he could lean on - the few left who didn't seem to detest him, that was - and a good pawful of cats who genuinely understood the grief he was going through. It wasn't much, but it was exactly what he needed to move forward and towards a healthier future.

Now, as Kestrelstar emerged from his den, a sparkle of pride shown in his gaze. This meeting would be a good one. A certainty had settled within his belly and made him sure of his movements as he swiftly bounded up to the top of the Streamstone. Today would be a good day for RiverClan. Today, would be the first day of a new dawn within RiverClan. Padding forward to stand at the edge, Kestrelstar took a moment to breathe, and steady himself.

"Let all cats old enough to swim gather beneath the Streamstone for a Clan meeting!"

This was it. The first paw step forward on the road to progress.

The snow was beginning to melt, and she was a little better nowadays. With Snowleap, Reedlight, and Ryepaw by her side she would begin a fast recovery from well, her brother. Ryepaw jolted awake with a gasp as he practically flew off of the stone he rested on, awaking from the most horrible, terrible, horrifying nightmare he had ever had. It was on the verge of being just as bad as the Dark Forest. He let out a sigh, gazing out at the waking world. “It was just a dream. Lucky me,” The tom muttered in an exasperated and husky tone, stepping off of the rock to sit off to the side, where he would be noticed by little to nobody. Hopefully, he didn’t exactly know where the best, unnoticeable place to sit was yet.

The golden tom walked to the Streamstone, Kestrelstar seemed to have a bit of a pep in his step, and he hoped it was good news. The day had been long, and the tom's eyes where heavy, he barely awake.

Although he was an apprentice again, that fact didn't bother him, it was his grief that immobilized him. The grief of losing so much, his apprentice, his mate, his respect. He hadn't found anyone who seemed to care much, and he needed structure in his life. He didn't even know what he thought of Silverspot anymore. Kestrelstar had ordered Sparrowskip as his "mentor" and maybe he would offer some support, though he doubted it. He had never been friends with Sparrowskip.

➢ As Kestrelstar’s calm and familiar voice sounded through the camp’s clearing, the long-furred tomcat stopped himself mid-lick, pausing his grooming session to peer over at the Streamstone. Riverclan cats were already beginning to gather underneath the gray-furred clan leader. Another clan meeting was commencing. Without hesitation, Snowleap heaved himself up to his paws and silently walked over, his fluffy tail swishing behind him with every paw-step. He glanced around, looking for a friend to sit beside, and soon enough, his icy-blue eyes spotted Raccoonear, his best friend in all of Riverclan. He quickly and quietly stepped over to the she-cat and sat down beside her, uttering a small meow of greeting to make sure he didn’t spook her or something before giving Raccoonear a warm smile. It seemed to become routine at this point, the two of them sitting next to one another at clan meetings. A simple act of consistency between them, but it made Snowleap happy to have such a thing in his normal day-to-day life. His bushy tail wrapped around himself comfortably to keep his paws from becoming cold. The snow was finally starting to melt within the territories, but the air was still a tad too chilly for his liking.

“What do you think this meeting will be about?” The Riverclan tomcat asked his dear friend in a hushed tone, leaning close to her so that she could hear his curious whisper as they both peered up at Kestrelstar perched atop the Streamstone. He noticed how the clan leader sounded a bit more positive in his tone this time, so he held a high hope that this clan meeting would be much better than the last one - everyone in Riverclan, especially the gray-furred tomcat himself, deserved some good news.

Like before the silver blue kit could hear his leader’s voice call out. The word were meant for ‘all cats old enough to swim’, in theory, that would probably mean apprentices and up, but there were things and news even a kit should know. So after a slight stretch to soften up the little muscles he had built up during the time his father had still trained him and his litter mates, he padded outside, sitting down among the other, older cats to listen to what Kestrelstar had to say.

-PumpkinSprout-

hm-? A meeting..? she padded out of the nursery as she heard the call of Kestrelstar beginning a clan meeting. The orange tabby sat down, looking towards the nursery to see if Wrenkit [ flopsy ] would join her. PumpkinSprout didn't like it when the little tabby left her side anymore, two of her kits were gone and she didn't want to loose Wrenkit again. Softkit [ Ivory. ] and Sparkkit [ TheHappyCat ] were a bit.. different..- both kits never talked with PumpkinSprout anymore, the orange tabby thought it was because she was such a horrible mother to the four she-kits, or because Whisperkit went missing when PumpkinSprout was supposed to be watching her.

Being a mother is hard.. especially since I don't have any other cat to help.. PumpkinSprout sighed, she had left the twoleg place quite a few moons ago because of her mate and twolegs but.., she couldn't help missing them. Sure, Leaf would have been an awful father to the kits and the kits would be given away to other twolegs once they are almost two moons but the twolegs ment well.. they would have helped. Right?- . Her mind flickered back to her friend Hazelcloud, the Windclan molly looked terrified when Kestrelstar found PumpkinSprout over the border. What if she hates me too.. my only friend..?

The tabby's green gaze moved back to the Streamstone, but not for very long. She spotted the familiar white pelt of Softkit padding across the clearing and sitting down. PumpkinSprout lifted a paw and was about to go sit down with the kit but gingerly set it back down again, Softkit didn't want to talk with her so perhaps it would be better not to.

She let out another sigh and turned her head back up to Kestrelstar.

Anger surged through the molly everytime she thought of his name. Of course not anger to her former mentor, but anger to the world. Stormtalon should have been here, attending the meeting, talking with his warrior friends.

As he saw the warrior present to their families and the apprentices touch noses, he couldn’t help but feel a little jealous, but he did not let his jealously control him today, and cheered on even after the meeting was done.
