As he gazed out over his gathering Clan, Kestrelstar fought a silent battle towards the lump in his throat and the misty wetness that dotted his eyes. All he wanted was one meeting without any shouting, any blaming - ceremonies, announcements, gathering etiquette, and then he could slip back into his den before another wave of panic overtook him.

Right now, the waves of panic and terror were just sort of rippling softly, lapping at his paws but calm...

Yellow gaze caught the interaction between Plumstorm and Whitekit - Whitekit - and the mere sight of it was a welcomed distraction from the guilt he felt crashing down in waves. He had never really seen the young molly be maternal at all, but it was clear that the kits of the Clan seemed to like her regardless. He hoped that she would accept his decision he had made today, as Kestrelstar was aware her last apprentice had gone missing. To no fault of her own, he assumed.

A few cats seemed to pick up on the gloomy atmosphere, and for a brief second the waves came in just a bit more strongly, but not enough to engulf him. There was a certain air of sorrow leftover from the Gathering. Everyone had heard of what had happened by now most likely - ShadowClan had killed yet another RiverClan cat. But if they thought Kestrelstar was going to launch any sort of attack, they were sorely mistaken.

He was barely holding it together on the rock, though was doing quite an excellent job of holding it all together. His mind, a tangle of intrusive thoughts and buzzing, was barely able to think straight let alone formulate a plot against ShadowClan and Dawnstar.

The conversation between Bramblepaw and Skysplash caught his attention, but instead of looking angry the leader just sighed. He just wanted for once no yelling, no arguing, just a calm and smooth meeting. Yellow eyes narrowed just slightly, holding no anger, and was pointed towards the two squabbling cats. "Skysplash [ Wildwhisker ], Bramblepaw [ Mr.Cheese ], please find somewhere else to sit away from each other for the duration of the meeting," he called down, forcing his tone to remain level and not shake.

Next was the little squabble between Plumstorm, Whitekit, Daisybird, Bearspot, and Birdkit. Surpressing a sigh the leader shot a pointed look at Bearspot but said nothing as it appeared that Plumstorm had it handled. Kestrelstar attempted to catch her gaze with a grateful nod of his head. Though he and the molly weren't on the best terms, it was... nice to see her helping keep the "spats" to a minimum. He wasn't sure if they would ever be in a place where they fully understood each other, but the gray tabby would take what he could get.

Before moving on though, Kestrelstar made sure to give Birdkit a small smile. He appreciated her support, and hoped that she wouldn't take Bearspot's words to heart. Despite how busy he was, and how he had never actually said it out loud, Kestrelstar cared deeply for each and every single one of his Clanmates, regardless of their opinions on him.

Just as he was about to start, a familiar pelt caught his eye - a cat who had been missing for quite some time. "Shinestone [ ScaryCat ], you've been gone from the Clan for a half-moon, and today you decide to show up?" Bits of frustration broke through - where had the molly been? And why did she feel like she could waltz in as if she hadn't been away? "I'd like to speak with you after the meeting in my den."

With that handled, Kestrelstar cleared his throat to launch into the meeting - enough time had passed for the Clan to gather. "There are... many things to announce, but I'd like to start with a few kits who are ready to become apprentices," he started off, looking down to make sure the kits he would call forward had at least shown up. "Iriskit [ Zero ], Riverkit [ seeingstars ], Hawkkit [ Witchy Angelique ], and Maplekit [ Eerie Error ], please step forward."

The kit felt her mother scoot her closer to her. She didn't try to get away and just sat there. She knew what Daisybird had gone through before she was back. Now upon hearing her name get called to become an apprentice. So it was her day. Hawkkit looked at her mother. What was she supposed to do? go forward right. She went forward.

She'd glance at Greypaw. "When do you think you are going to be a warrior?" She asked her apprentice, a small smile coating her face.

Willowkit watched his clanmates' bickering be halted by Kestralstar. Hearing the kits to be made apprentices' names, he glanced around for them, but could not see them through all his clanmates. The silver kit's amber eyes readjusted to looking at his leader to hear his next words.

Watching slightly Bramblepaw moved away Whitekit pounded up and down It was almost his apprentice ceremony "OH THIS LOOKS FUN!"

Cricketsting was scrabbling his own front paws as his fur itched to do something fun in this meeting. He pricked his ears, hearing arguments ripple through the crowd. He could even hear kits quarreling with each other as Plumstorm tried to handle the situation. A few moments later, it sounded like she handled it well. Of course she would, she is a medicine cat after all. Soon, the light-cream warrior listened in to any announcements: a she-cat gone missing and came back unexplained, and four kits who are ready to become apprentices. The latter, of course, gave a sense of proudness to the young warrior.

He was happy for them to finally become apprentices. He could remember his youth as a kit, always wanting to become an apprentice despite being too young to be trained as one. Though after becoming an apprentice, it didn’t go well for Cricketsting. He shook his head and noted how he never made fun of these kits before. Likely because he never came to a nursery for a while. He would make up the lost times by trying to scare them, and this time as apprentices!

Graypaw gave his mentor a small smile and nod in greeting, a relieved sigh escaped the tom as Riverkit's name was called. He didn't have to worry about it getting any worse now at least. He furrowed his brows turning back to his mentor "mmm, next clan meeting I assume, I just need my assessment if I remember correctly" he said in a hushed tone. He watched Riverkit pad over to the streamstone, he didn't even consider tattling on the kit, he know it'd put his own warrior ceremony.

Riverkit purred in greeting "I should be soon-" They were cut off by Kestrelstar calling their name "guess it's now" They said with a chuckle padding forward and looking up at the leader. He shot a wary glance at Graypaw, he could still mess this up for him.

Eveningpaw sighed, he knew that he wouldn't become a warrior this meeting. He sighed turning his gaze to Finpaw. He couldn't help but smile at the smaller tom, he looked up at Kestrelstar with such admiration. Eveningpaw looked down at his paws. Why did he keep pushing Finpaw away? Why was he making it so complicated? It really wasn't complicated at all.

Finpaw sat beside Eveningpaw, looking up at Kestrelstar through wide eyes. He somehow managed to keep the clan from tearing each other apart with a few words and a mere look. The small ginger tom wished he could be like that. Finpaw looked towards Eveningpaw, his face heating up as he looked at his paws, nervously kneading at the ground below him.

It seemed that she wasn't the only one who didn't really want this headache today. After tiredly ensuring Whitekit was in good paws with whoever showed up, she returns her attention to Birdkit for the time being. But Birdkit, too, was doing well enough. Plumstorm offers the kit a nod, nothing more.

Now, finally some peace (mostly). She straightens up and gazes up the Streamstone at Kestrelstar in time for him to pluck up and begin the meeting. Something in his face told her that even after his vacation, he was weary of his work. Sniffing, the silvery feline slowly blinks at him. Perhaps she could hold his attention long enough for him to notice what she did next, too; After blinking, Plumstorm inhaled slow in an almost exaggerated manner before parting her lips to breathe out. Lifting a kitty brow, she casts a very obvious 'your turn now' look at him.

The worst of their Clanmates would look at her now and wonder why she was behaving so... Out of character. The last meeting she'd attended, she had no qualms with making her opinion on Kestrelstar known. Those opinions hadn't changed, and it wasn't so important what outsiders thought of her or what she did. Only the lowest of the low reveled in good cats struggling.

"Yes, yes, let's get on with it," she murmurs under her breath as the tom summons the kits up to the front. There was always something at these shindigs, and if it wasn't for good cause, she didn't enjoy it all that much.

Plumstorm's eyes then glance sidelong at some warrior cooing to who was presumably her apprentice. Why wouldn't know know when your own apprentice's warrior ceremony is, how useless can you be? Of course, the warrior says nothing- She'd save her tongue for the worse of her enemies today, following that mean old coot Bearspot.

Codpaw fidgeted. There seemed to have been so many meetings lately, even the drama was beginning to get old and tiresome. He'd rather be out exploring. He wasn't in much of a hurry to gain warriorhood except that it would mean more freedom to experience more things, but he understood that this was a necessary part of becoming a trusted warrior, trusted enough to be given more freedom. So he sat himself down and tried to focus. Apprentice ceremonies were the worst. It's not like they accomplished anything besides not getting themselves killed in six moons. It was nice that he'd have more cats in the apprentice den with him, he simply wished he didn't have to sit through their ceremony. His mind wandered as the kits were called up and gathering.

She watched as the kits were called up. Hawkkit, Iriskit... and someone else. Hazelpaw shuffld her paws, fidgeting. She honestly wanted to sleep...

A smile grew on Bearspot’s face as he saw the kits being called forward to become apprentices. He hoped that these new apprentices would become great warriors in at least 6 moons, and that they would be easier to handle. A twinge of guilt stung him as that last thought came to his mind. It’s not the kit’s fault that they haven’t truly experienced what being a warrior is like, so he shouldn’t be too harsh on them.

Palebrook blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected there to be apprentice ceremonies. There were so many kits in the Clan, she had lost count of how many were ready to become apprentices it appeared. Huh, that was something to fix after the meeting.

Why had Kestrelstar called her name? Shinestone had spaced out for a minute there. The last thing she heard, though, that she should meet him in his den. Mouse-dung. What had she done this time? Sighing, Shinestone sat back, now even more grumpy. Figures she would get in trouble in front of the whole Clan.

Her eyes gleamed as she was called up. She walked forward, tail waving excitedly. A single tear came to her eye as she resisted crying. Finally, she could be a true member to the clan.

There was a lot of cats talking to her at once, an a lot of cats talking to each other around her at once, and Birdkit looked around at everyone, because there were a lotta cats to look at (like, a LOT, like WOWSA) Whitekit hadn't answered her question yet, but that was okay, because she was sure he would answer very very soon. She first noticed that some warrior guy was talking to her. She turned to face him eagerly, because, like, YAY, another new buddy, but then he started saying silly things like the Kestrelstar was a queen, and that he had a special thing with StarClan. What did that have to do with their buddy... ship? Yeah, buddyship was a cool word.

Whoa. So he said that her and Kestrelstar WEREN'T buddies?! Her whole face seemed to droop, then she recovered, and burst into uncertain giggles. Silly... silly tomcat. Of COURSE she was his buddy. Then she noticed some grumpy looking apprentice (she knew HIS name, it was FOGpaw. Or.... or maybe it wasn't... no no no, it was HAZEPAW), who seemed to be glaring at her. No sir, she wasn't going to put up grumps! She stomped over to stand in front of him.

"Cheer up, Mr. Cranky-Face!" She ordered imperiously. "You're KILLING THE MOOD with all your angry-ness!"

Then, she turned around to pad back over to where she had been sitting, and found Plumstorm scolding the tom that had told her that she and Kestrel weren't buddies. Plumstorm looked quite angry, and Birdkit simply watched with fascination as the tom apologized. Plumstorm must have super powers. She demanded respect. That was cool. Hopefully, one day Birdkit could do the same.

Scampering over, she once again pressed against Plumstorm. "Thank you Plumstorm." She said, smiling toothily up at the warrior. "Thank you for being you and... and thank you for helping me, too." She saw Whitekit looking scared, and was about to reassure him that it was okay, when Daisybird went to talk to him. Okay, good. Daisybird would know what to say better than Birdkit did. She smiled when the queen greeted her. "Hi, Daisybird!!"

Looking up when Kestrelstar started talking, she returned the quick smile he gave her, only the grin on her face stayed. And all those kits getting ready for apprenticeship... lucky them. One day, though, it would be her. She snuggled closer to Plumstorm. Maybe Plumstorm could be her mentor!!!! Or maybe they could just be friends, either way, Birdkit couldn't wait.

Shallowstep looked relieved at the fact that his leader was able to keep the meeting peaceful for a change. He felt bad though, his leader went through so many hardships, has the clans weight on his shoulders, and has to listen to somecats talk bad about him, when all he's trying to do was the right thing.
Everything will be okay. But will it this time?
He shook his head of the impeding thoughts, and began to think about the soon-to-be new apprentices.
Stop focusing on stuff like that, be in the now.
Sighing, he straightened up, and was ready to follow along with the clan when the time came to shout their names.

Skysplash was happy for the soon to be apprentices, but she couldn't help but wonder what else Kestrelstar had to share.

Despite the tension, Morningpaw couldn't stop a small smile from blooming on her face as Iriskit was called up for her apprentice ceremony. Part of her was proud for the kitten; she'd gone through so much through the past few moons, and at her age... living through such tumultuous times could be devastating. She was glad her friend had made it through.

Iriskit's green eyes widened as Kestrelstar called her forward to be apprenticed, weaving through her clanmates to make it to the front where she could be seen. She scanned the crowd for her brother, wondering if he had shown, but didn't spot him. Maybe he was near the back where she couldn't see. The kitten gulped as she turned to the front, suddenly nervous of the eyes on her. She tilted her head up to be able to see the leader perched up on the streamstone above her head, a mix of excitement and nerves swirling in the depths of her eyes.

no longer having to worry about bearspot and his words, daisybird turned her full attention to whitekit and hawkkit, but kept stormpelt in her mind. birdkit was left in good paws, sitting with plumstorm. alright, everything was going pretty good so far. she wasn't sure how long that would last though, with a glance at whitekit and stormpelt. kestrelstar would surely announce the death of greypelt - something she'd heard whispered around.

she frowned. stormpelt seemed to have been distracted momentarily by her request. it'd be best to keep him distracted. amazingly enough, kestrelstar questioning shinestone was perfect for a topic. "can you believe cats really do that? just leave and then show up like they hadn't disappeared?" she asked, sounding exasperated that people actually did that. then, oh stars, it was announced that kits were becoming apprentices. normally, she wouldn't have a problem with it, but one of those kits were hawkkit.

she watched her daughter go forward, the ends of her mouth tugging downward in a frown. well, this was a newly discovered fear. a sudden one. apprenticeship meant that hawkkit would be going out in the territory, would be out of her sight, and exposed to danger.

with a pang of worry and fear, she turned her gaze to the ground. she refused to speak out against it despite wanting to. what type of mother would she be if she ruined her daughters apprenticeship? she would..talk to her about it, later.

But he swapped it back to his natural neutral expression back onto his face. Seeing the shecat had made him mad,like really mad. Mad that the fact that she had failed Bramblepaw in the worst way of not training him. Taking a seat next to Bramblepaw he watched and listened to angry bird's new on the clan.

Well, something was certainly off. While Splashleap didn't want to add any sort of panic to the already seemingly volatile mixture, but Kestrelstar was a bit tenser than usual. Or maybe this was usual, things were so tense between them and Shadowclan that they were always tense. She herself was always keeping an eye over her shoulder when she was out alone, so maybe nothing was wrong? She wasn't sure, all she knew was that his legs were awfully straight. But that wasn't a crime, she wasn't going to make things worse. Hopefully any issues would be aired in due time, this was a meeting after all. So, sit and wait it was then.

Skysplash flicked her ear but tried to show no emotion. Cats were gonna be cats, and she was expecting this. Inside she still felt more than mildly annoyed. It had only been two moons since she had become a warrior, couldn't everyone cut her some slack? But it was possible that one of these kits could be her apprentice, and she could show the whole clan that she was capable of whatever life threw at her. She hoped so.

Lionspot noticed the drama between floodfrost and skysplash. She quietly and quickly walked up a bit to catch wind of the situation. She sighed,lionspot didn't like riverclan but she did like the drama.

Turning around in her spot, she spotted Bearspot and Plumstorm arguing rather heatedly over... a kit? Well, they'd ended now, and Hazelpaw could see Bearspot and Hazepaw moving away from the she-cat.

She shifted her paws uncomfortably, wanting to make a decision, yet her mind was blank. Instead, she glanced up at the leader again, the 'queen connected to StarClan', as Bearspot had put it. It did sound like a load of fox dung to Hazelpaw. What nonsense. For the first time ever since the Gathering, a spark ignited in her, her ferocity returning for a bit.

The look given to him by Plumstorm wasn't lost, and Kestrelstar had to surpress a chuckle at it. It certainly was his turn now. A sudden boost of confidence flowed through him - not enough to completely drown out the bubbling anxiety, but it did quiet it to a gentle hum. He'd spent so much time since he'd been back worrying over upsetting his Clanmates by saying or doing the wrong thing that a part of him had lost the certain leaders' edge he'd had. Perhaps there was a way to get that back and still be looked at as a great leader.

A ripple of unease passed through the cats below, and Kestrelstar tried to locate its source. Was it the way he had spoken at the beginning? The sense of gloom that hung over? Whatever it was, he didn't want it to affect the kits who were on the verge of becoming apprentices - today was their day.

Though, that didn't stop him from still observing his Clan. Kestrelstar caught the look given to Skysplash from Floodfrost and his eyes narrowed a bit. From what he had understood, it was Bramblepaw who had been in the wrong in the whole mentor reassignment fiasco, and the leader didn't appreciate the tension between Clanmates. As much as he had tried to change his own behavior to set an example, it seemed some Clanmates were set on looking to who he was before - which wasn't the Clan he wanted his home to be.

Oh well. It wasn't something he'd interrupt the meeting for - after all, Floodfrost was one of the warriors he needed to speak to after this meeting about his behavior at the Gathering.

"Maplekit, Hawkkit, Iriskit from this moment on until you receive your warrior names you shall be known as Maplepaw, Hawkpaw, and Irispaw. Riverkit, since there is an apprentice already with the name of Riverpaw, your name will be Wavepaw until your warrior ceremony." He hoped that was alright with the young kit, and gave them a small nod.

"Maplepaw [ Eerie Error ], your mentor will be Skysplash [ Wildwhisker ]. She is a great warrior, make sure you come when she calls you for training." Something Bramblepaw hadn't done, but Kestrelstar bit back the bitterness in his throat. After the meeting he'd handle it.

"Hawkpaw [ Witchy Angelique ], your mentor will be Lotusheart [ Shade. ]." Briefly Kestrelstar wondered if the warrior would be surprised that he was giving her an apprentice. A sort of olive branch was what it was to him - and hopefully her as well.

"Irispaw [ Zero ], your mentor will be Plumstorm [ implimm ]. Learn all you can from her." Would that be a surprise? The leader hoped not. Despite the tension between the two, Plumstorm was an exceptional warrior who deserved an apprentice of her own.

"Wavepaw [ seeingstars ], your mentor will be Dawnwhisper [ Nixey ]."

The leader fell silent for a moment to allow the pairing to find each other and meet. He knew soon they would all be starting on their training, and he hoped for once that these pairings would stick and that none of the cats would end up like Amberpaw who had gone through countless mentors.

Stepping forward once more, Kestrelstar continued. "There are also a few apprentices left without mentors. I hope that the new mentors I give them can finish out their training and help them reach their warrior assessment." A little bit of an edge to his voice, as the leader was getting tired of assigning apprentices only for their new mentors to disappear.

"Whitepaw [ WinterMara ] your new mentor will be Duckslip [ seeingstars ]. I trust you can handle her remaining training alongside Hazelpaw's." He gave a nod to the warrior.

"Rainingpaw [ shaded shadow ] your new mentor will be Willowskip [ skeloveton ]."

"Lightpaw [ im a cat ], you will complete your training under Cherryflight [ Peril ]."

"Featherpaw [ Silverfur & Co ], your new mentor will be Junipersong [ Dizerel ]."

"Petuniapaw [ @/Witchy Angelique ], your mentor shall be Wheathen [ Finnoween ]

"Codpaw [ Ravensong ], you will finish your training under Palehound [ Rainquail ]."

"Eaglepaw [ Ghostly Phantom ], your mentor will be Cricketsting [ Dirtfur ]."

"Shypaw [ ~Fierce~ ] your mentor will be Firepebble [ Binx ]."

"Riverpaw [ The raven ] you'll finish your training under Shallowstep [ duskfire1 ]."

"Timberpaw [ Spooky Cxndy_Fatal ] your new mentor is Bristletail [ Pheasantflight ]."

"Amberpaw [ Sklee ] you'll complete your training under Mistfreeze [ @/finnzel ]."

Once the reassignments were done, Kestrelstar sat back a bit and fell silent to allow time for the reassigned mentors and apprentices to find each other. Hopefully there wouldn't be any issues.

Lotusheart was a little surprised to have received a second apprentice. Nonetheless, she was pleased. It meant she was settling back to normal in her position in the clan. Now, new people talking time, uuughh.
She approached the apprentice and smiled, bending down to touch noses.
"hello, Hawkpaw." the massive white cat said calmly.

'Wavepaw... They actually didn't mind the new name. The gray and white apprentice puffed his chest up, they shot Maplepaw a smile before looking around for their mentor.

Graypaw smiled widely at the apprentice calling their names out after Kestrelstar was done speaking "Maplepaw! Hawkpaw! Irispaw! Wavepaw!" he purred loudly, relieved Wavepaw would not for sure not have any more power over him.

Eveningpaw heard his brother's name get called and glanced around, wondering if he could see him, he knew what it was like to be reassigned.

Duckslip heard their name and dragged themself out of the warrior's den. The exhausted munchkin warrior made their way over to touch noses with their new apprentice. That's cool, two apprentices now. They thought, looking around in search of Whitepaw.

Finpaw looked towards Eveningpaw, what was he looking for? the ginger tom wondered, tilting his head.

Codpaw, somewhat distracted, called out the new apprentices' names with the rest of the clan. He wasn't sure what there was to be so congratulatory over but it was tradition.

When his name was mentioned by Kestrelstar, Codpaw's attention piqued. He definitely wasn't ready to become a warrior. Surely Kestrelstar hadn't found out about his explorations, not to call him out in front of a gathering. He suddenly wished he'd been paying more attention. Reassigned? Codpaw's body tongled with relief. Palehound. So Hailfreeze actually left then, it's not just me they're avoiding afterall.

While he understood that he likely wouldn't have as much free time to do whatever he wanted under Palehound anymore, he did feel a certain excitement at maybe finally getting to experience what it truly is like to be an apprentice with a real mentor. Codpaw stood and padded towards Palehound. Smiling broadly, he chirped, "Hi! Guess you're stuck with me now!"

FirePebble perked up a bit nervous and a bit nervous but proud of himself to be able to mentor a apprentice and show them what they know. He nods at his with a smile on his face excited to meet the apprentice he was given to watch over and teach

Mentor number four, at this point, she wanted to stop counting, it was getting out of hand, but whatever, surely by leafbare, she'd be a warrior with a glorious white pelt to blend in with the snow. As she headed over to Duckslip, she, unfortunately, thought up of a sassy comment, part of her wanted to bring up how they seemed...shorter than her, or anyone else, but pushed it aside, the sass would not be for jokes.

"Alright, listen, I am assuming you are Duckslip, I want to make one thing clear, I want to get my training done, and I want it done soon, I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm one of the older apprentices, so maybe actually be a good mentor unlike my past three."

Rude and sassy? Up for debate on the first, most apprentices would respond like her, at least, Whitepaw thought so. Besides, getting four mentors was ridiculous and she was not putting up with it any longer, so what if she had to work her ass off? She'd do that and more now, she was going to hit her goals, and no obstactle, cat or object, would stop her.

"I... I'll do my best" They said, flashing a nervous smile. They weren't a bad mentor, at least they didn't think they were. They so far only had trained Hazelpaw and she wasn't a warrior yet even. Duckslip swallowed before clearing their throat "We can start as soon as you'd like" They said looking up at Whitepaw. They weren't surprised she was bigger, most cats in Riverclan were.

Amberpaw looked up at him, trying to not get her hopes up. "So, are you Mistfreeze? Are you going to disappear like the rest of my mentors?" A bit blunt, but chances are it wouldn't matter. If he did, that would be great, and exciting, but she'd gotten her hopes up last time, and every time, really.

Cricketsting huffed and sighed with such drama! There goes my peaceful life. Away it went in the wind! Cricketsting wisecracked to himself. In reality, he felt excited and his paws tingled to have an apprentice to train. After he got through with celebrating the new apprentices by cheering their name, the young warrior went over to Eaglepaw.

"You ready to catch a fox? It surely won't mess with a cat with the name 'Eagle'," Cricketsting purred and touched his own nose to the apprentice's. "After this, I can teach you where to find an abundant of fishes in a river."

Codpaw sat back and smiled. "Well I apparently managed to unstick the last one." He laughed lightheartedly. He didn't think his last mentor completely avoiding him then ultimately just leaving had left any affect on him but his humor was surprising even him. He shrugged, no use looking into it too deeply.

"Well, you're pretty much starting with a clean slate. So when do we get to do some real training?"

Willowkit quietly mumbled out the names of the new apprentices. He wasn't nearly as enthusiastic as the others because of all the reassigning. His tail twitched as he contemplated returning to his nest in the nursery. All this chest puffing was giving the white tom kit a headache, but he decided to wait until the clan was dismissed.

Skysplash paused when Maplepaw came up to her. She turned to her apprentice, leaning down and touching her nose to the young she kit's. "So you are Maplepaw." Skysplash murmured. She couldn't help but notice an exited glint in Maplepaw's eye. She smiled a little, meowing "I have one request of you: come to train when I tell you to. I'm sure you, a clanborn cat, can do this far better than Bramblepaw."

Irispaw blinked once and then twice. Plumstorm, Plumstorm, Plumstorm... Her mentor's name sounded so familiar... However, she was obviously distracted, searching the crowd now that the attention had gone to other apprentices being reassigned. Any on-looker would assume she was searching for her mentor, but it was Stormtalon those green eyes hoped to spot among them. But she didn't see him. Was he asleep? Out in the territory hunting? Patrolling? ...Had he missed her ceremony? Disappointment flashed across her features.

By chance, she caught sight of the silver-furred form of Plumstorm and recognition dawned upon her. It was the cat that had practically dropped a bomb upon her just a few moons ago... and she was her mentor. She honestly didn't know what to think about that... The young apprentice stood, then sat back down, then stood again - unsure of herself. She watched her mentor from afar, suddenly nervous to approach her.

Goldenpaw's calm gaze slowly flowed over the camp as she half-heatedly listened
to the new and old apprentices got their mentors. She had already gotten Bumblestep so she didn't
have to listen as closely to it this time. There was however one name that caught her attention. The newly
named Irispaw had gotten Plumstorm. Poor thing.... The golden apprentice had only talked personally
with the warrior once but she had heard what they said on the meeting where Kestrelstar was absent.
Plumstorm was a traitor, right up there with Lizardfrost and the ever so annoying Webpaw. Perhaps
Goldenpaw could offer Irispaw some training some time, because Plumstorm surely wouldn't.
Other warriors had offered her some lessons when her mentor was missing and she greatly
appreciated it, so surely Irispaw would as well.

Otherwise than that she couldn't pick out any bad cats becoming mentors,
on the contrary some were really great. Palehound for example seemed like a
good and loyal warrior and was one of the cats who had helped her with her training.

Oh they were late, so late. Dawnwhipsers silver fur had emerged after pushing their way past the Riverclan entrance and exit to their clan. Blinking their gaze up towards Kestrelstar, Dawnwhispers heart gave a little falter as they stared up at the lead on top of the seastones. They had been late for a meeting. Pushing their way into the crowd, Dawnwhisper faintly heard their own name called in the back of their mind. Blinking slowly, Dawnwhisper seemed to pause a moment as shock pooled in their mind, their mouth going slightly dry before they took a breath of the chilly air into their lungs and swung to look for Wavepaw. They had been given a fresh apprentice, so that just meant more work to get Wavepaw wherever the apprentice needed to be. "Wavepaw?" Dawnwhisper had called out towards the apprentice, attempting to locate this new figure as they stepped along the ground and continued to push through the crowd. It was a slow, tedious process of small "sorry"s being murmured towards cats.

She had ignored the first call to the Streamstone as her sides rose and fell with a slow, sleepy motion. It was quite calming now, as there weren't as many bodies around her and she could slumber in peace without worrying about some cat flipping around and knocking into her or something like that. But when Graypaws voice reached her ears Reedpaw had been blinking the sleepiness out of her blue eyes. Rising slowly onto her paws, Reedpaw poked her head out of the apprentices den, her gaze resting on the familiar pelts of all her friends. A small, sleepy purr rose in her throat as Reedpaw pushed her way out of the den and into the crowd towards her friends. "Graypaw, Finpaw," a hesitation showed in her face as a little uproar of a different feeling came into her chest "and..Eveningpaw, its good to see you all again.".

Stormtalon watched from a corner of the clearing, a difficult place to spot for the apprentices receiving their names. He hated moments like this. They were few and far between now, intrusive thoughts and memories, but he loathed them all the same. They held no form. Had no rhyme or reason, but despite the lack of logic affected him to a considerable degree. He almost didn't want to attend Iriskit's ceremony at all. Too scared? The sounds, scents, fluttering feeling of pride reminded him of another ceremony moons and moons ago...one where he cheered on a little brother instead of his sister. The tom's throat burned with bile at the images of Brightpaw's smiling face, a tom who would never outgrow his apprentice name. He forced himself to swallow it down.

Would she be safe? Was this another death warrant? Stars. Storm regretted not forcing Kestrelstar to make him her mentor (damn whatever space Iriskit wanted). Why was it hard to breathe, hard to think? So stupid. Voices jeered at him, voices of poise and calm which used to be his allies. Stormtalon gritted his teeth and ignored them. Focus on her. She...looked for him. He could see it; Iriskit's disappointment stung.

What happened to Bright won't happen to her, he told himself firmly. Whether or not he believed the reassurance was inconsequential. He battled with his own hesitation a while before finally padding forward, settling in an area Iriskit -- Irispaw would notice her big bother. He nodded to her - hoping fear didn't choke out every ounce of pride flickering in green eyes. Stormtalon would have to consider Plumstorm as his sister's mentor another time. For now, he noticed Iris' nervousness, her uncertainty. It roused him from his own. "Go on," the warrior seemed to say through a softening expression and a flick of his tail in Plumstorm's direction. "You're doing well."

Another mentor that wasn't Looncry... But life wouldn't wait or bend for anyone and Lightpaw couldn't just
stop her own to wait for her old mentor to come back. Things moved one and after everything that had
happened between them and Thunderclan things wouldn't be fun....

Well at least this mentor seemed better than Crashstep, calling her name softly and not just
shouting it out all over the camp. The little apprentice padded over to Cherryflight. She tried
to press out a slight smile like she used to when she was young, but it just wasn't the same.
"Right here!" she mewed, but even her voice wasn't as cheerful as it used to.

Agitation melted away after the initial flare-up, and the silver-furred warrior could sit back and listen halfheartedly to the meeting proceed at last. Kestrelstar went on to perform the latest apprentice ceremonies, and she had admittedly very little interest. Why was she sitting out here, in the kind of crappy weather? Well... Appearances? She couldn't answer.

But then she hears her name.

Lifting her head and suddenly becoming more alert, Plumstorm stares at her leader questioningly for a heartbeat before it sinks in- He did call her! The she-cat's heart flutters, and for an instant she is spirited away to the time she got her first apprentice. Saltpaw was a joining loner, as old as she had been at the time, and already set in many of his ways and beliefs. This was very, very different. This was a brand-spankin'-new apprentice. Blue eyes flash as she sweeps the front line for Irispaw. Must be the one who looked like she wanted both to carry on with the normal greeting yet sink back into the crowd at the same time.

It's now that Plumstorm realizes something with a sharp ache: This apprentice might not like her. Hesitation hugs her paws to the sandy floor where they stood as still as statues. She had longed for her own apprentice, one who was just out of the nursery, to get to know and teach and perhaps even befriend as two fellow warriors later. But was it really just nervousness stopping Irispaw from coming to say hello? The warrior had to try and convince herself that that was the case.

She breathes in and forces herself to approach the she-cat, peering at her with a guarded expression now. "..."

Oh Stars, she hadn't even thought of what to say! Opening her mouth, nothing comes out. Plumstorm shuts her jaw again and just dips her head to the new apprentice, bowing in for the customary nose-boop before waving her tail to guide Irispaw back into the audience of their other Clanmates. Maybe she wasn't as ready as she thought she was.

Movement from the corner of her eye caught Irispaw's attention for just a moment. There was her brother and there was that fear he was trying to conceal. She could see it now and she knew what it was about. And despite it all, he still offered the reassurance she had needed. Just his presence alone did so, though she was thankful that he always seemed to go the extra mile. The tiny she-cat let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding, casting him a thankful look and a nod of her head - maybe giving back some reassurance as well. She wasn't Brightpaw, hopefully that much was clear in that statement alone.

Irispaw steeled herself once more, pushing those nerves deep down as she turned back to Plumstorm, who was now right there.

With a guarded look in her eyes.

Clearly, they were off to a great start.

Thankfully, Iris wasn't really a normal 6 moon old at this point. A normal 6 moon old may have been intimidated, but she was intrigued by it - those green eyes of hers sparking to life. Those nerves of hers melted away as she held Plumstorm's gaze. Did she know who her brother was? Because he was basically the king of guarded looks. She maybe knew how to handle this.

After a perhaps awkward but customary nose-boop, the gray tabby followed her mentor back into the crowd - not breaking the silence quite yet. But she didn't waste time once they had settled back into the crowd. Attempt one of cracking that guarded look: a smile. Sure, it was half uncertain, but Irispaw was certainly cute. Hopefully, it would work as a peace offering.

She narrowed her eyes while he was silent, but relaxed them as soon as he answered. It didn't confirm anything, none of the rest of her mentors had planned to disappear as far as she knew. but it was a relief. "Well, I'm great at hunting, and I can fight ok. And I'm great at swimming and diving, but that comes with the clan, I guess."

As mentors and apprentices met, Kestrelstar pushed a sigh through a slightly tightened jaw. Things were going okay - no one was yelling, attacking Clanmates... so far, it was all looking up. The trembles of anxiety still rested in his paws however, and the leader took a moment to curl them up one by one. It helped a little, but driving away this type of panic... well, it took something that wasn’t present in camp.

Lifting his tail for silence once more, the RiverClan leader swept his gaze over the gathered cats.
”There is also one more ceremony that I’d like to do. This cat has proven themselves that she is ready to step into the responsibilities of a RiverClan warrior, and I’m proud to give them their earned name.”

Bearspot had a smile on as he watched the soon-to-be warrior step forward. He saw the excitement in Silverpaw's eyes, he hoped that excitement would turn into fierceness and passion in battle.

Yellow gaze glittering as Kestrelstar watched Silverpaw step forward, he gave the young molly an encouraging nod. "I, Kestrelstar, leader of RiverClanClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of our code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn.” It had been a back and forth struggle, but finally Kestrelstar had decided to go back to the age old words.

"Silverpaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior code and protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Despite the last words being tradition, the RiverClan leader felt a small stab of guilt for saying them. He didn't want to put his Clanmates in a position where they would have to lose their life. But RiverClan... it was the big picture, it was greater than all of them.

A smile came to Kestrelstar's face as Silverpaw said the words many apprentices had said before her on their first step into warriorhood. He hoped she realized that even though ceremonies like this had become normal and tradition, it was still a great honor. A part of him caught Rainingpaw, Silverpaw's sister, watching the ceremony through narrowed eyes. He'd made note to speak with her to see how her training was coming along after the meeting.

"Then by my power as Clan leader I give you your warrior name. Silverpaw, from this moment you will be known as Silverstripe. StarClan honors your dedication and quick thinking, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan."

Bowing his head, the RiverClan leader touched his nose briefly to the top of the new warriors head before stepping back and allowing the cheers of her Clanmates to rise up around her.

Frostpaw frowned. She wished it could be heat up there, being fawned over by her clanmates, she let out a few half-hearted Silverstripe!s, then sat back down. Just get in with the rest of it, She thought.

Riverstripe chanted with the rest of the clan "Siverstripe! Silverstripe!" Ahh a new warrior. Exactly what Riverclan needed with the harsh seasonn of Leaafbear aproaching the water might freeze and then they would have small hope of crabs let alone fish and the ground prey would be hiding even birds would be scarce.

Cricketsting twitched his ears as he hollered the new warrior's name along with anyone else. Annoying it may be, but is part of the clan and the code he lives by.

Skysplash lifted her tail in the sky, proudly chanting the new warrior's name. Good, more claws to hunt for and defend the clan. She suddenly imagined her apprentice, Maplepaw, standing up with Kestrelstar. Kestrelstar. She still disliked the mottled gray tom. However hard he tried to pick up the broken glass shards of Riverclan, Skysplash remembered that he was the one that broke the window.

Fogpaw jumped back, startled at the cheering, before quickly going over to a quieter corner to cheer herself. "Silverstripe! Silverstripe!!", the she cat cheered, not being able to help but wish this was her ceremony. She had been an apprentice for a little while already, and she barely done anything!!!

Codpaw watched; his interest was mildly piqued. He wanted to maintain his air of indifference at another warrior ceremony but his future seemed to be looking a bit different now and he wondered how much longer before his own warrior ceremony. Maybe he should start paying attention so he really knew what to do. Regardless of his internal back-and-forth, as Silverstripe's new name was announce, he called out loudly in congratulations, "Silverstripe! Silverstripe!"

Snowstripe stopped grooming the kit and smiled "Silverstripe silverstripe." She chanted smiling at the new warrior. As She looked over to Featherpaw whom seemed sad.

Hazelpaw remained perfectly silent, until the very end. Grinning, she opened her maw, joining the others in calling the new warrior's name.

"Silverstripe! Silverstripe!"

As the calls rose up around them, Kestrelstar fixed Silverstripe with a proud look. "Congratulations," he murmured, nodding once to her before turning and scrambling back up onto the Streamstone.

"I have also debated heavily with Splashleap and Snakeheart in regards to the Shields rank with RiverClan. After a day of testing these cats, I truly feel that they will bring the extra support and security that RiverClan needs going into this leaf-bare." For a moment, the gray tabby let silence fall after his words. He was certain the candidates he and his two other high ranks had picked would be perfect for the job.

"The new Shields of RiverClan will be Plumstorm [ implimm ], Sparrowskip
[ :Grimmlin: ], Wormbite [ x ghostie ], Sagewhisper [ paradise ], and Fierceroar
[ ~Fierce~ ]. They will be tasked with aiding RiverClan leadership with how to navigate the coming moons, as well as attending to any concerns any of you have. I know I am still not the most trusted cat, so if there is an issue you are facing and you don't feel comfortable coming directly to me, you are welcome to bring your concerns to one of them. Join me now in congratulating them."

Pride shown in Kestrelstar's eyes as he surveyed the new Shields, letting a yowl rise up from his lungs. He hoped they would still accept the role, and step up to be proud representative of the Clan he loved so much. It was clear to him that running a Clan alone was not the way to approach it. Having a team - a team of individuals diverse with varying opinions - was a right step. Wasn't it?

While Sparrowskip was a tad late to this meeting, he was very surprised to hear his named called as a new shield. He was surprised but proud Kestrelstar thought he was a fit enough for the rank and he gave a warm smile as it was called. He definitely wasn't going to mess up again!

The apprentice moved further away from the other, startled by the sheer amount of noise as they began to congratulate the new shields. As much as Fogpaw wanted to be in that position and show those Shadowclanners who was boss, they weren’t even a warrior yet, so alas, it wasn’t possible.

Goldenpaw frowned as Kestrelstar called out the new shields. She wasn't sure how exactly she felt about his choice of cats. Plumstorm was a traitor to Goldenpaw after the way the warrior had talked about their leader during his absence, Sparrowskip was maybe a little too jolly and carefree in her eyes, and while Fierceroar seemed decent enough but had only been made a warrior around a moon ago. At least Wormbite seemed hard working and loyal, traits Goldenpaw appreciated, and Sagewhsiper wasn't a cat she knew...

And while others joined Kestrelstar in welcoming the new ranks Goldenpaw stayed quiet, only dipping her head slightly in respect.

Silvernight's face lit up with a soft smile as she joined in the greetings with a slightly lower, calmer yowl. She had mixed opinions about their leader - as seemed most others - and while she was still on the fence about these new ranks but she wouldn't let her feelings keep her from praising the chosen cats. It took work to be picked for something like that and she wasn't about to take credit away from there, even if she still had doubts about this new idea. A voice in the back of her mind told her she shouldn't accept this new change but she ignored it like she had done so many times before.

Applefang looked at her leader, not really bothering to welcome the new "shields" all the cats Kes had listed seemed rather boring in her opinion. And new ranks seemed rather... unnecessary. If you needed some one to lead Riverclan they would have just made her leader, instead that sad excuse for one.

Codpaw wasn't sure about the need for Shields, it seemed a bit overdramatic. But nonetheless he was proud that his mother had been one of the chosen cats. He was sure that this wouldn't truly change much in his life, though maybe his mom being a shield would grant him certain perks. He laughed inwardly, as if Sagewhisper would let him get away with anything, much less give him a break simply for being her son.

Riverstripe cheered. Shields would bring more sucurity to the clan in the coming leafbear moons.

Finding her place with Irispaw among the others, Plumstorm felt stiff. Her mind and her heart both raced, and anxiety slowly crept in. Saltpaw had gone missing only a moon or two, no more, after Plumstorm was tasked with his apprenticeship. He'd been a nervous one, afraid of learning to fight. The silver cat's paw twitches, and she steels a glance at the young molly with her now. A long, long history of loss supported Plumstorm and turned her cold. But now, she was afraid. Afraid that this 'curse' would somehow manage to pluck Irispaw away from her as well.

The silver warrior had to try hard not to think about that though. She could shove those nasty, pesky thoughts to the depths of her mind and let them drown. This was what she'd wanted since becoming a warrior- A new apprentice, fresh from the nursery, to build up from the base rather than try to mold someone older who already learned this and that. Irispaw was a selfish dream come true, and she wouldn't allow her thoughts to mess her up over it.

The meeting continues, and thankfully Plumstorm can focus on that. A new warrior, woohoo. She joins in the name chanting rather absent-mindedly, mostly wondering where to bring Irispaw first. But then came the announcement for the Shields. And, wouldn't you know it- Plumstorm's ears perk up. Her gaze sharpens just a little. The shields would be...

Kestrelstar listed her.

Surprise shoots through her veins like a quick wake-me-up jolt of energy. Plumstorm stares up at the tom atop the Streamstone, and then she casts a look at her new apprentice as if asking if she'd heard right. The fur along her spine prickles, and as the Clan congratulates their Clanmates who now held this new position among them, nervousness churns together with something else, something warmer. Plumstorm gazes around at the others, pale blue eyes bright with unnatural pride for once.

Maybe the roots she'd so long been wishing to have in RiverClan were finally beginning to take to the ground here.

Lizardfrost was mildly disappointed as she had not been chosen for the role of shield. But she just hoped it was due to her lack of political skills, not physical prowess. She knew she was no good with politics and stuff.

Lotusheart was not surprised she hadn't even been tested. She knew she was still walking on thin ice and needed to readjust.

For a moment Wormbite had to take a double-take. The test had been interesting and while he did feel secure in his results, there was still the doubt he carried that he had failed in someway or another. His answers weren't satisfactory or his whole being wasn't enough. It was something so silly but was in the back of his mind. Like a bee buzzing around waiting for the eventual sting but it never comes. Wormbite let out a sigh of relief, it was eerily similar. Carried the same tang that rang throughout his misshaped ears.

Thistlestep is stepping down as Lionheart, and in his place he has appointed Wormbite.

The new Shields of Riverclan will be Plumstorm, Sparrowskip, Wormbite...
Phrased so differently but held the same meaning. Yet the Dark Lord carried a new responsibility only he had aged and a darker feeling dwelled in the depths below. Something that could be picked apart later but Wormbite allowed himself to just be in the moment. Warmed by the honor and his determination to protect his clanmates. Perhaps if one looked close you could see the soft smile on his face, his head dipped in a humble gesture. He really wished Shimmeringpool was here.

Fierceroar had been sitting silently at the meeting, listening to every word that Kestrelstar said. She didn't cheer any of the new names, simply because she wanted to stay quiet. But she was glad for the new addition of apprentices and warrior. Riverclan was getting stronger, strong to show that they weren't weak. But they shouldn't get so strong as to show fear. That would be wrong. It was best to be equal among the clans, full moon or not.

Fierceroar's ears perked up in surprise as she heard her name called. It took her a moment to process what she had been called for and then a smiled cracked in her face. She had passed the test! She was a Shield! Fierceroar's golden eyes sparkled and she ducked her head a bit as the cheers rose around her. She wished her siblings could see her right now, but that was a small wish at the back of her mind. Right now, her mind was filled with thoughts of her clan, and she silently thanked Sootstar for giving her a chance.

It seemed as though the listed Shields were already settling in well to their new ranks, the congratulations pouring in from Clanmates. Absent was Sagewhisper, and Kestrelstar made a note to see if he could find the she-cat later, once the meeting had been dismissed. Which would be soon, as Kestrelstar was about ready to wrap everything up.

"I have a few more things to announce. As some of you are aware, RiverClan has suffered another loss. A ShadowClan cat admitted to killing Graypelt, a queen who was near our shared border with them. I have retrieved the body, and buried her at the Thicket. Once the meeting is dismissed, those who wish to hold vigil are welcome to do so."

For a moment the leader let his voice fall, remaining quiet as yellow eyes traveled up to the sky. His belief in StarClan was small, though there was more than there had been. Was she up there now? He was unsure of how it all worked, and didn't want to linger on it too long. As his gaze fell back down, they tried to find Daisybird, Stormpelt, and Whitekit. He needed to make sure the queen had them in her sights, and that she would be a solid foundation for them to lean on.

After a bit, Kestrelstar cleared his throat. "I also want to touch on Gatherings. I understand that RiverClan has faced much loss in the face of ShadowClan and ThunderClan, but I will not tolerate any amount of disrespect to be shown towards any of them. I have failed in setting an example for this, I know, and I promise to do my best moving forward. Don't let them get under your pelts, especially Dawnstar and her fox-hearted Clan of warriors. We are RiverClan, and we are strong despite the downfalls we face. Do not allow them to pull you to their level."

He hoped that would be enough to end the bickering he heard so often at Gatherings. Already two cats had to be escorted out - two he still planned on speaking with after this - and Kestrelstar didn't want anymore to follow.

"This meeting is dismissed." With that, the gray tabby leaped off the Streamstone, wincing slightly as he was once again reminded of his missing toes. He would speak with the cats he needed to speak to, and then set off for the Thicket to pay his respects to Graypelt.

She got to her paws, beginning to pad into the apprentices' den. Maybe, when Hazelpaw was older, she could be a Shield too. But this was highly unlikely. Hazelpaw flicked her tail, disappearing into the den.

Dawnflower got up from where she was sitting and padded out of camp to the clans territory. She wanted to get some hunting in to bring some prey for the clan.

Sparrowskip bowed his head as Kestrelstar mentioned the recent death. Poor thing He thought as he raised his head back up. Sparrowskip wasn't quite sure what happened at the last gathering since he didn't attend but he wasn't intent on knowing either. He just kept his mouth shut and padded away as the meeting was dismissed.

As the meeting ended, Bearspot bowed his head one more time in a show of respect for the deceased queen Greypelt. He then padded away to the Warrior's Den when the meeting was dismissed.

With the meeting over, Palebrook and Frostpaw left. Palebrook thought she would go to the thicket, and Frostpaw went to her den.

Codpaw sighed and smiled as the meeting wrapped up. He hoped that the bickering and sour feelings truly would end between the two clans. He was sure the recent fighting had been the root of why the Shadowclan apprentice at the gathering had been so closed off and timid around him. It was difficult to get somebody to just relax and talk to you if you were supposed to be enemies. And besides, Codpaw just couldn't get behind agreeing with Shadowclan as an enemy. He wouldn't ever understand hating another cat so much simply for being in another clan. Sure, some of them did bad things but some Riverclan cats have also done really bad things.

Codpaw shrugged, mildly concerned that Sagewhisper hadn't shown up for the announcements of the Shields. She was probably out hunting or something and hadn't made it back to hear the meeting called, he wouldn't dwell too much on it. He stood and padded out of the camp to take a quick swim.

Shallowstep bowed his head at the news of another lost clanmate.
Hopefully things will get better.
He had always hoped for the best of things for his entire life, but recently, it ha just led to his disappointment.

Cricketsting brought his head down from hearing that a queen was killed by a ShadowClan cat. That is not right at all! How could a warrior kill a queen who likely have kits to take care of? The light-cream warrior hoped that StarClan will do something about it, like having that murderer sent to the Dark Forest! He shook his head, insulting himself for even saying such a thing in his mind.

After listening to the advice given by Kestrelstar, Cricketsting got up from his spot and stared at his new apprentice as the clan meeting is dismissed. "See you at Training Island! Last one there is crowfood!"

Skysplash peeled her lips back in anger. ShoadowClan was full of dirty murderers. Next time she saw one of their disgusting faces, she would tear them to shreds. What fox-heart would kill an innocent queen? She swore to StarClan that she would avenge all of the cats that fell to a ShadowClan warriors' claws.

Firepaw sighs, watching Eaglepaw run off with Cricketsting. I can't wait until I become an apprentice! He thinks to himself.

Stalking back into camp, Kestrelstar glanced to where Plumstorm and Sparrowskip sat with Stormpelt and Dewfur. He was furious with them, and a bit of that fire showed in his yellow eyes. "I want you both sitting up front and not making a sound," he snapped, words cut and sharp before turning to leap onto the Streamstone. He had already given a speech at the last meeting regarding Gathering etiquette, but it seemed that his Clan was due for a reminder already.

"Let all cats old enough to swim gather under the Streamstone for a Clan meeting!"

Kestrelstar knew it was late, that cats were tired, but this needed to be discussed. Perhaps none of RiverClan had taken note of Dawnstar's obvious enjoyment of two warriors making RiverClan look pathetic. At first, Kestrelstar had been rather pleased with Stormpelt - the warrior had helped him take care of a fox's den, he had given him mentorship over an apprentice because he trusted that the tom wouldn't disappear. But now, as he stared down at him, all he could see was how wrong he had been.

"Whitekit," she glances down at the kit who had come to talk. "Go to your nest and get some rest, alright? It's too late for little kits like you to be up and about. You'll hear about what happens tonight tomorrow!"

Goldenpaw sat down as calmly as ever, though a little angry at Stormpelt and Dewfur for embarrassing Riverclan at the gathering like that, two more traitors to add to the list along with Plumstorm and Lizardfrost.

Applefang glared at her dump leader with slight annoyance.

Silvernight watched Stormpelt and Dawfur with and unsure, almost worried look in her deep blue eyes. She had gone back with Plumstorm and Stormpelt but Sparrowskip had later arrived with Dewfur as well. She was a little uncertain what to do with the two, would a punishment be in order, would that even work? If the cats were thorn by emotions that might not help... It was up to Kestrelstar but... could she maybe suggest something... better like having a talk with Stormpelt, let him talk over his feelings over his mother's death. She knew it could take a toll on someone to lose a cat they cared for, and making sure they were ok after that was important.

Shimmerpaw gathered, curious about what the announcement would be about. Clearly it was something about the gathering since they had just arrived back, but the apprentice hadn't attended it so she had no clue what it could be about.

Eveningpaw noticed his mentor after entering the camp and flinched, he wondered if this meeting had something to do with his mentor's second outburst. He took a breath before sitting, turning his gaze up to Kestrelstar, he was embarrassed by his mentor's actions, seeing him act up at yet another gathering made the older apprentice extremely uncomfortable.

Finpaw made his way over to the gathering cats, why were they having such a late meeting? they'd just gotten back from the gathering, he glanced towards Eveningpaw, noting his visible discomfort. The small orange tom gave him a soft smile before turning his attention back to Kestrelstar.

Graypaw padded into the clearing and watched as Kestrelstar called a meeting, they hadn't had their assessment so they knew it wasn't for them, but they did have a general idea of what the meeting was about. They gave a warm smile to Featherpaw from across camp before looking up towards Kestrelstar.

Wavepaw quirked a brow as they watched the cats gather. They'd seen the tail end of the outburst and were curious about how Kestrelstar was going to handle it. They sat looking up, patiently waiting for their leaders next words.

Frostpaw sat down grumpily in the crowd. She didn’t want to hear Stormpelt and Dwefur get punished. Why couldn’t Kestrelstar just punish the two half-witted warriors alone and let all the others have their naps in peace?

Duckslip purred and bowed their head in greeting "Hello Palebrook" They whispered in a cheery tone, pausing to listen to her next words. The calico munchkin hummed in thought "Well, Kestrelstar did talk to us about etiquette after the last gathering, if they acted out again something has to be done" They said with a sigh "They are fully grown cats, they should know disputes should be put aside for the gathering... Is it not part of the code to be peaceful at gatherings?" Duckslip responded softly.

Blizzardwind ducked out of the warriors den, looking up at Kestrelstar. The Gathering must have just ended what was he doing this late? Fixing his slate blue hues on the leader, he sat near the back of the crowd. He didn't want any young warriors taking his nest tonight, he slept near the center, and it was nice and warm there. What would this be about?

As the RiverClan leader’s call rang out across the camp, Ryebelly lifted his head, blinking slowly as he watched the other cats gather. With a small sigh, he slowly rose to his paws, stretching and digging his claws into the earth before padding to the crowd and sitting near the front. The young warrior pondered the reason behind the meeting. New apprentices? New warriors? Or maybe it was just something about conflict with another clan...

Skysplash was already sitting in the clearing, tail flicking. She could tell by Kestrelstar's tone that it wasn't good news. She couldn't help but look up at his ear. A small tear sliced through the tip, the scar from her brief attack. She felt no guilt about it, only pride. She had made a mark on the cat that had wronged his clan, and the fiery sting the leader felt when she landed the blow was well deserved. She locked gases with him like usual. It was hard for her to trust any, and I mean any cat. Skysplash swallowed as the leader mentioned Shadowclan. More than anything, she wanted to tear into their matted fur as hard as she could. If anything, she would be pleased to battle with them. She was a formidable fighter, and though she had never been in a real battle, she was brushing up on her skills by mentoring Maplepaw. She just hoped Keestrelstar would actually do something, instead of sitting on his tail and moping about his past. (Open!!)

The Dark Lord had a idea about what this could be about. It happened to include a warrior that has a name that begins with Storm.. His tail flickered in annoyance at the scene that had been caused - perhaps he was lacking the empathy this time of day. It still didn't give Stormpelt the excuse to cause havoc and take it out on others.

Wormbite entered into camp, making his way to the Streamstone. He took a seat in the far back, staying slightly hunched as his tail curled over his paws neatly.

Streampelt padded into camp behind Kestrelstar and followed him to the Streamstone. He sat down where the crowd gathered and his green orbs looked up at the Riverclan leader as he gave out the usual words.

Fierceroar padded into camp behind her leader, her golden orbs daggers to anyone who met her gaze. She wasn't leader or deputy but she was disappointed with what had happened. She sat down below the Streamstone, lashing her tail furiously behind her.

Shypaw padded into camp behind her father and she followed him to the Streamstone, sitting down next to him. The Gathering had been... interesting to say the least. Not what she had expected but weren't all Gatherings like that?

~Lavenderkit~
Lavenderkit heard the bustling in the clearing and she quickly scampered out of the nursery, whipping her head around in every direction. Where was Snakie? She padded closer to the Streamstone but her blue and green eyes were still searching around the throng of cats.

He lived in a clan of idiots. It was official and now they were going to listen to a well deserved dressing down on how to not act like kits and why embarrassing your clan at a gathering is not a good thing. Honestly if the offending parties acted out here too there might even be a demotion in the book, Kestrelstar seemed pissed enough for it. Snakeheart was nursing a headache, unhappy at how the yelling at the gathering had interrupted what couldve been a nap for the medicine cat given none of his other co workers came to make conversation. But no, instead two of the biggest dung heads in history decided to disgrace their mothers name by kicking up a fuss over nothing embarrassing the entire clan and themselves. Newsflash no one cared you were half clans! Even Snakeheart himself wasnt fully riverclan! His mother had joined from being a loner and his father had never joined a clan at all! So it wasnt Graypelts relationships that'd disgraced her name but her childrens childishness. How sad.



The tom had been hissy the entire way home the shields who'd stepped in so wonderfully the only ones exempt from this as he slipped into camp. Snakeheart needed a nice distraction, bad, so spotting his change and gift in mouth the medicine cat dropped into a crouch and ever so slowly snuck up on Lavenderkit before gently pouncing on the she cat. If she reacted well he'd play bat as her for a moment before passing her his gift it was a bug and a beach bug too! A sand hopper, dead so it couldnt escape but a fat one for the fellow bug loving kitten who he'd allow to settle between his paws for the meeting.

Hazelpaw heard the call of Kestrelstar. She padded out. He looked... angry? The apprentice noticed how furious he looked early on, and she guessed it was because of Stormpelt and Dewfur. Those two drama-cats had caused so much chaos nd embarrassment for RiverClan at the Gathering. Hazelpaw approached the Streamstone, sitting down.

Ravensplash pricked their ears at Kestrelstar's call. He hadn't attended the Gathering, so they didn't know why the leader looked like he had fireballs shooting from his yellow eyes.

Dawnflower padded out of the warriors den. The she-cat sat down among her clanmates waiting for Kestrelstar to speak. She wondered what the meeting would be about.

Lavenderkit had been looking away from the camp entrance, wondering if Snakie maybe had snuck in from anywhere she she felt a a bit of weight on her. She whipped her head around in surprise but then she smiled as she saw who it was. “Snakie!” She yowled happily, attempting to climb on top of him. She was happy that he was here but he had punched on her so he deserved to have her climb onto his back.

Codpaw padded back into camp on weary paws. The gathering had been exciting but he'd finally gotten a chance to have a real conversation with a real Shadowclan warrior but it had been cut short because of Kestrelstar's mood with Dewfur and Stormpelt. Now all he wanted to do was curl up in his nest and dream. But as soon as they were in the clearing, Codpaw saw Kestrelstar jump straight to the Streamstone. He hung his head and turned just as Kestrelstar was beginning the call. He yawned as he sat down amongst the crowd and looked up to Kestrelstar.

Yellow eyes sweeping over the crowd gathering below him, Kestrelstar took a moment to take in all of their expressions. Most were tired, and those who had not been to the Gathering were most likely wondering what in the stars was going on. While he felt a bit of sympathy for them, and though only two cats had acted out at the Gathering, the entire Clan needed to hear what he had to say. Sleep could wait.

"I'm sorry to have pulled those who were not at the Gathering from their nests, but it seems as though the Gathering etiquette I spoke of last meeting fell on deaf ears," the RiverClan leader began, his voice remaining neutral but with a hint of disappointment laced in between. He now focused his gaze on the two warriors. "Stormpelt, Dewfur, I understand the pain you went through losing your mother, and believe me ShadowClan will pay for what they've not only done to us, but to WindClan as well. However, a Gathering is no place to yowl like kits about it. Tonight, you made RiverClan look weak. You made us look like we can't handle ourselves, and that only gives Dawnstar all the more pleasure." His toes curled at the mere memory of the sly smirk on the ShadowClan leader's face. She would've leapt down from the Seastone and killed both warriors right then and there if Kestrelstar hadn't stepped in.

His Clan didn't have the same vantage point as he did, they didn't know how easily Dawnstar seemed to slide her claws in and out atop the rock, looking calm but ready to attack - and having no issue ordering it - at any moment. "I am aware, that I have not set the greatest example, and there is no excuse for that. But since you all seem to be tired of me saying sorry, I have tried to just do instead." It was what RiverClan wanted right? All those eyes that glared at him, piercing like leaf-bare frost, they wanted him to change. But even when he was, before their eyes, they still held him hostage in a prison of judgement.

"You are not the only ones angry with ShadowClan, but in all of the Gatherings, have you seen any other Clan's warriors act out the way you two have? Have you seen anyone else yowl at their leader like that? You can have all the quarrels with me you like - but for stars sake, save it for after the Gathering when we're back at camp." The only sign that really let on to the frustration the RiverClan leader was facing for this whole situation was a flick of his ear. His voice remained neutral - a skill he was working on more and more - and his eyes, though narrowed, no longer burned in rage.

Letting the words hang in the air, Kestrelstar let out a sigh. He was beginning to move past his self-doubts, each day replaced by more self-confidence. It didn't feel the same as before - this one felt earned, after moons of hardship and learning. He was beginning to grow into his role, and learning each day what it really took to be a great leader. The negative comments his Clanmates threw his way no longer affected him as much; they no longer cut as deep. He knew who he was, and his intentions, and the best he could do was to communicate that by actions instead of words.

Lifting his tail to stifle any murmurs that had started up during his brief pause, Kestrelstar continued. "Stormpelt, your actions this Gathering and the last have disgraced RiverClan. For the next moon, you will be demoted to an apprentice, and your name will revert back to Stormpaw. Blizzardwind will be keeping an eye on you. You will be taking on apprentice duties and are not allowed out of camp without another warrior present. After a moon, you'll come to me and I will assess if you're fit to regain your rank. Furthermore, both you and Dewfur," he added, casting a glance to his sister, "are banned from future Gatherings indefinitely. This is final."

Part of him was surprised that he had been able to remain so calm, but perhaps his daily repetition of actually starting to care for himself and work on the issues he needed to was showing results. His Clan needed an example of how to act, and many of them still looked to him for it despite their personal feelings. Stormtalon's words rang through his head, of a kit playing at power. Kestrelstar was no kit - and it was about high time to stop acting like one.

Standing tall, the gray tabby tom paused for a moment to see if there would be any reaction from the two cats before he moved on with the rest of the meeting.

Eaglepaw, no longer shocked, watches Kestrelstar. The tom tilts his head. 'Does the other cats hate him?' He thinks to himself and looks around. Many pairs of eyes are burning with hate, rage and suck-like emotions. Shocked at the disrespect of the leader, Eaglepaw resists the urge to yowl in anger.

Shimmerpaw frowned, glancing at the two warriors. Kestrelstar was right when he said that their behavior was disgraceful, but she wasn't about to voice her thoughts out loud. Hopefully their punishment would remind them how to behave, they may have lost their mother and were grieving, but it wasn't an excuse the embarrass the whole of RiverClan at the gathering.

Stormpelt now Stormpaw Hissed. "Kestrelstar You have made an Enemy in this clan!" he hissed. "You could have just banded me from Gatherings not becoming a STUPID Apprentice again!" HIssing in rage. Dewfur was amused At stormpaw "Ha an apprentice again really Stormpaw!" But she was fine not going to gathering again.

Eveningpaw's jaw dropped, what could be more embarrassing than having to be reassigned because your mentor got demoted back to an apprentice for acting out. The large apprentice sucked air in through his teeth, shifting his gaze from the newly demoted Stormpaw back to Kestrelstar, pleading with his eyes to give him a mentor who'd actually stick around to finish their job without causing so much trouble.

Finpaw watched curiously, he'd never heard of a warrior being demoted back to an apprentice, he hadn't even considered that was a thing even. He glanced towards Eveningpaw who was lowering himself to the ground in embarrassment, he felt a gentle chuckle rise in his throat.

Graypaw shifted uncomfortably, he'd never seen a warrior get demoted. That must be awful, he could even begin to imagine how much that would suck. The warrior aged gray tom licked a paw, running it over his nicked ear, turning his gaze back to Kestrelstar.

[Pidge]

Ravenflight chuckled at the current events. Oh well.. obey the rules and you don't get hurt! They were just stupid enouhg to screw up.

She flexed her claws and nibbled at them, unsatisfied with their overall shape.

Truthfully, Gatherings were bland and she didn't always feel the need to go sit out there for lengths of time doing nothing- She didn't exactly kick up a fuss like a kit though, either. The shield hides a contemptuous smirk and flicks her tail. What goes around comes around.

"Oh, but apprentices in general aren't quite so stupid, as you say," she meows silkily to Stormslug. "Just you. And I'd be a little more conscious of running your mouth off, if I were you. Kestrelstar is being generous."

Amberpaw was surprised. After all, she hadn't gone to the gathering. It hadn't felt right. She wasn't sure if she should be upset, disappointed, or worried. She'd lost the queen taking care of her to Shadowclan too, and she couldn't imagine doing what they did. Then again, the queen taking care of her had died a while ago, moons and moons ago. And she wasn't super close to her either. She settled on generally upset.

Stepping out of the warriors den in just enough time Heronflight looked at Kestrelstar then the cats who were being punished. The audacity of some cats. It made her wonder about some cats. At least her Petuniapaw didn't cause problems like that even despite being Blizzardsky's kit. She had a brain on her and knew when to quit. Speaking of which. Heronflight spotted her daughter coming out of the apprentices den. She watcbed as she sat down. So the older she-cat moved over and sat down beside her. Petuniapaw moved closer and watched the rest of the meeting.

Shimmerpaw let out a short gasp, eyes wide in shock at Stormpaw's words. Had he really just told a Shield that they should be an apprentice? Especially Plumstorm? Honestly, he was just digging himself a deeper grave a this point.

Lizardfrost's eyes glossed over. Thus meeting was becoming more and more emotion- and social-related and therefore she had no place there. She felt little, and spoke not often. She had 0 attachment to anyone here. Why bother with who got demoted or not? She was here to hunt and fight for her clan and follow orders. And to improve. There was nothing else in her mind, and there shouldn't be.

Lotusheart displayed no emotion on her face. The cat's behaviour was insufferable but she needed to not get angry. Never get angry. That was the goal. So she just tried to think about something to make her not angry. Like tha fact that this didn't concern her. She wasn't responsible for what other cats did. It didn't matter to her. She didn't care. This was fine. Zoning out would help. She never wanted to be angry again.

The calico she-cat's face winched at the thought of being demoted. But she kind of felt a bit of symphony for the two cats losing there mother. Dawnflower stopped her thoughts and continued listening to the leader.

"If you can keep your head on straight, that is." At least Dewfur had the sense to be quiet and just take her punishment.

And then, ooooh, he'd really just snapped at Plumstorm like that. That wasn't going to go over well. "Listen, man, just be quiet and deal with it. You're not going to get anywhere by hurling insults around."

Eveningpaw's jaw dropped, what could be more embarrassing than having to be reassigned because your mentor got demoted back to an apprentice for acting out. The large apprentice sucked air in through his teeth, shifting his gaze from the newly demoted Stormpaw back to Kestrelstar, pleading with his eyes to give him a mentor who'd actually stick around to finish their job without causing so much trouble.

Finpaw watched curiously, he'd never heard of a warrior being demoted back to an apprentice, he hadn't even considered that was a thing even. He glanced towards Eveningpaw who was lowering himself to the ground in embarrassment, he felt a gentle chuckle rise in his throat.

Graypaw shifted uncomfortably, he'd never seen a warrior get demoted. That must be awful, he could even begin to imagine how much that would suck. The warrior aged gray tom licked a paw, running it over his nicked ear, turning his gaze back to Kestrelstar.


Featherpaw was also about warrior aged now and sat up toward the front listening and thought {ouch... when u thought one thing wasn't enough. You have to go cause trouble.} She looked at now stormpaw.

Snowstripe heard the words banned from gathering and she was even shocked about what the leader said.

Rainypaw got worried. If the clan looked weak than maybe Shadowclan would attack. He didnt want that!

Irispaw stepped out of the apprentice's den, blinking sleep from her green eyes. Kesteralstar's original call to the streamstone hadn't woken her but the rest of the commotion of the post-gathering clan meeting had finally pulled the curious she-cat from the warmth of her nest. She stood by the entrance to the den, watching from afar and catching just the last tidbits of two warriors being punished for acting out at the gathering. She hadn't caught what they'd done, but it must've been pretty rough if one was demoted and both were banned from future gatherings. Seemed like the demoted tom was pretty angry about this turn of events, though.

Bearspot widened his eyes in shock at the news that Stormpelt was demoted from his warrior status. It was understandable that this had to happen, but it still shocked him.

Stormtalon looked on from a spot in the back where he'd slipped through the entrance after his late night stroll, emerald eyes sparkling. Oh dear. So he'd been right: another demotion (and ha. Stormtalon wasn't the babysitter this time. Instead it was Blizzardwind, his former mentor. Something to tease the older tom about later.)

Perhaps this wasn't kind -- though when had he ever been kind? -- but the tabby quite enjoyed witnessing Kestrelstar's discipline of deserving clanmates. It was vaguely entertaining to watch them make fools of themselves in their pitiful indignation, demonstrating to everyone in earshot why such an act (and worse) was justified. Sardonic humor curled his lip. Maybe he would petition Kestrel to change the tom's prefix, as well; no feline with 'Storm' in their name should be a lover of idiocy. It made the rest of them look bad.

About the time Goosefury tried to intervene--(why? Just let Stormkit dig his own grave, Plumstorm was more than capable of taking care of herself)--in the corner of his vision, Stormtalon noticed Irispaw join the meeting. He grinned sideways at her through amused eyes.

He took a step back tho,he wasn't planning on getting yapped at for being too close again. Shut up. You are now an apprentice,suck it up. I dont really like the guy either but will you just shut up? You have no reason for being angry,You brought this up on yourself. I don't give a damn if you don't have a mother now or if she's dead,You need to grow up or I will happily kill you and put you on display for this whole crappy place to see. Floodfrost kept his emotionless tone up for that little statement,he hoped that his dead blank stare and larger size would make this guy chill,if that didn't he would take care of him by himself. He or Kestrelstar had no reason or want or even need for warriors like this.He only understood Kestrelstars no use of crybabys and suck ups. They were worse than crying newborn kits in winter. sit. Skysplash widened her eyes at the severity of the punishment. She understood that misbehaving cats had to be disciplined, but she could not help but feel a small bud of pity for grow in her chest for the two cats. They were grieving, and who wouldn't lash out at the cat that killed their family? Skysplash thought it made more sense for her to be punished, for her to be disgraced. She had attacked Kestrelstar, for StarClan's sake! Skysplash felt her hate for RiverClan's leader grow deeper and deeper with every foolish mistake he made.

Blizzardwind's frown deepened. Stars above. Now instead of Petuniapaw, he got Stormpaw. Some loudmouth baby. He understood losing a mother, it stung, but that didn't mean it was right to disrespect your leader, humiliate your Clan and make a fool of yourself (even if that last one was quite funny from the sound of it!) He stalked over to were the new-old apprentice was, as Stormpaw hissed at Plumstorm. He stood beside the Shield. "Plumstorm, I apologize for my apprentice's behavior." He said tartly, only half mocking of the demotion.

"Now, Stormpaw. Looks like you've lost that filter of yours again. That's no way to talk. If you ever want to be a warrior again, I suggest you start acting like you belong in the warrior's den. I also advise you to listen to everything I have to say to you, now and for the remainder of the moon, because if you don't, we'll be in the same position we are now. Or you may get demoted to Stormkit. The nests in the nursery should be too small for you, no?" He said icily.

"We'll have to have a talk about self control." He flattened his ears. Since he was now an alleged mentor of the moron, that meant that they would have to have training sessions, traditionally. He gestured to the apprentices den. "How about we go find you a nest in the apprentices den. You'll want to get good nights rest, we have our first training session at dawn."

EW,GROSS. She mumbled. This meeting was a damn mess. Fishboy and freeze frame cat (kestrelstar , floodfrost.) were at it again. She did giggle when stormpaw was demoted. That was funny as hell. Her eyes panned towards blizard wing. Good job its blizzardsky wanna be.

Lionspots attention was quickly drawn towards the stone. Why do all idiots continue to get yourselves in trouble. Common sense really ins't so damn common anymore. All the fish is getting to your brains. Its embarrassing. Do you all even feel embarrassed in the slightest?? Lionspot blurted out towards the cats making a fool out of themself. It was annoying. She felt like her ears were going to explode if she had to hear another word from them both.

Plumstorm stares blankly at Stormslime as he screams and wails. She was immensely unimpressed. With a sigh, she nods to Blizzardwind respectfully. "You'll have your paws full, that's for sure," she murmurs. "StarClan be on your side through it all."

Next, she glances up to Kestrelstar. He'd been silent through this whole ordeal after the demotion and assignment. Was this all he wanted, or would he have a few choice words for the rest of them as well? Not that she was interested- Any sane cat who knew how to behave their own age likely felt similarly- This wasn't something most cats needed. Hoping to catch the tom's eye though, the shield does her best to send good vibes up to him.

And cats wondered where Stormtalon learned to sharpen his tongue. Amusement doubled as Blizzardwind did nothing short of obliterate the offender while their clanmates watched; perhaps it was a trick of the light, but there seemed to be a bit of pride in the tabby's expression. He tossed a cheeky look at Blizzardwind with brows arched in a silent question: Does this mean I'm your favorite 'Stormpaw' you've ever had to mentor?

The moment passed and Storm winced. More useless noise, more unsolicited commentary. Why did cats insist on sticking their noses where they didn't belong? Oh well. Kestrelstar could handle it. The tom had...been doing well since his return. Complicated feelings slithered about the warrior's chest at the thought of him, but Storm shoved them away, refocusing his attention instead on the streamstone.

Backlash had been expected. Glares, angry hisses, shouts even. Kestrelstar stared down at Stormpelt as the warrior unleashed his best shot, emotionless. Honestly, at this point with the amount of cats that would be thrilled at seeing him drop dead, he was numb to it. The threats meant nothing - there was no more emotion he had left to give to it. He had focused it all on building himself up, rather than lashing out every time a Clanmate disagreed with him.

"You can hate me all you want, as long as you remain in camp and away from the eyes of the other Clans. Dawnstar had half a mind to kill you tonight - would you rather I'd let her?" the leader snapped, giving a lash of his tail but kept his posture upwards. He was certain Stormpelt didn't quite understand the target he had placed on not only Kestrelstar's back but RiverClan's as a whole. If Dawnstar and ShadowClan thought they were breaking on the inside, border attacks would be just the beginning.

Noting the interaction between Stormpaw and a pawful of others - Plumstorm, Goosefury, Blizzardwind - one stood out to him. Floodfrost. The way the tom so easily called for the murder of the cat - his Clanmate. Kestrelstar had no room to talk - he was changing, and was disgusted with the crimes he had committed against his own Clanmates in the past, but he had still done them. Was this his fault? Were his own cats this blood thirsty because of the example he had laid out for them?

But then the last interaction he'd had with Floodfrost came to his mind. He had called the leader out for forcing things onto RiverClan, which Kestrelstar assumed he'd meant the kill order for ThunderClan. If he disagreed with that, but was willing to threaten death to his Clanmates... None of it made sense to the gray tabby tom, yellow eyes momentarily clouding over with confusion as he stared down at him.

"Floodfrost." Kestrelstar's voice boomed down, shooting a piercing glare towards the warrior. He'd had about enough of him as well. "You can yell at me all you like in my den, but you will not threaten your Clanmates. You tell him to not speak of harming others, yet disregard that you just did the same." Again, it made absolutely no sense to Kestrelstar. How had he made this cat a warrior? He was acting more like a kit with each day that passed.

"Since this is the second time I'm having to tell you to keep your claws to yourself, you will also be demoted to an apprentice as well. Your name will be Floodpaw, and you'll be tasked with apprentices duties. You are not to leave camp without a warrior present, and in a moon I will reassess to see if you are fit to regain your warrior status and name. Lizardfrost I'm sure will be able to teach you some manners." The she-cat had been a warrior he had heavily been considering for Shield placement. With Sagewhisper's absence, perhaps this little test would prove to him that Lizardfrost would be a worthwhile replacement.

As he handed down the second punishment, Kestrelstar lifted his chin slightly to address the entire Clan. "You all can yowl at me as much as you please. You've made your irritation with me well known, and that is fine. That will not be punished. But let Stormpaw and Floodpaw be examples; I will not tolerate anyone disgracing RiverClan's name. I will not tolerate threats hissed between Clanmates." Yellow eyes swept over the crowd, taking a moment for the words to sink in. Hopefully they would be better received this meeting than they had last meeting.

In the crowd below there were two gazes that caught his attention; Stormtalon and Plumstorm. His confidants during the darkest period of shadows. Two dim, foggy lights that he had corrupted, bloodied, and ripped up. Even looking at them now, with everything that had happened between the three, he felt a mixture of guilt and pride. Guilt, for forcing their claw, for driving a rift between Irispaw and Stormtalon. Guilt, for perhaps planting seeds of doubt in Plumstorm that this was her home. But in the shadows there was also pride. Pride, for the fact that they were still around. Opinionated - rightfully so - and ready to hold him accountable to make sure that this current change would be permanent. Pride, for the fact that they still remained by his side. They were his warriors, and despite their own paths of trying to forgive him for the crimes he'd had them commit, they placed their faith in him. And it was everything to the tom.

With that, the gray tabby decided to move on without waiting for any arguments to sprout up. "That is all I have for this meeting, however Snakeheart has told me he wishes to address something," he called out, stepping back on the Streamstone as eyes found where the medicine cat was sitting with Lavenderkit. He beckoned his brother with a flick of his tail, inviting him to join him atop the Streamstone if he wished to.

Lavenderkit had been looking away from the camp entrance, wondering if Snakie maybe had snuck in from anywhere she she felt a a bit of weight on her. She whipped her head around in surprise but then she smiled as she saw who it was. “Snakie!” She yowled happily, attempting to climb on top of him. She was happy that he was here but he had punched on her so he deserved to have her climb onto his back.

The medicine cat was steadfastly ignoring the ongoing drama going of as he let the kitten use him as a climbing structure in the back of the group. It simply wasn’t worth paying attention to idiots running their mouth and adults acting like kits when he had an infinitely more pleasant actually child who was somehow more mature. Still eventually the matter was a dealt with as it was going to be (honestly they should be happy it was only a temporary demotion Dawnstar killed or humiliated dissenters and Snakeheart knew from Peachfrost that windclan exiled warriors for a moon for bad behaviour) and the birdbrain moved on to invite him up. Yay this was either gonna go great or poorly but probably both however first he had to deal with his clinger. “Either hold on tight and take a ride with me up the streamstone or hop off little bug. I’ve got an announcement to make and you’ve got a sand hopper to interest you more then boring medicine cat stuff.”

She had heard everything, but had stayed in her den to keep from the noise. She stepped out now, ready for the medicine cat's announcement. She shook her body and sat, bowing her head to the medicine cat. Her tail wrapped around her fragile black paws, as she lifted her head and looked at him.

Lavenderkit was ignoring the rest of the clan, her attention focused only on her best friend. She cheered as she managed to get on top of his back, which was pretty easy considering that she was above average in height. She did her best to get in a position that would make it easier on Snakie to bear her weight but she couldn't exactly read into his mind and figure it out. Her attention only peaked more at him at the mention of going up to the Streamstone. "Can I really go up there? It would be so cool! Besides, it would be really boring down here without you." She meowed, her voice more girly and high pitched than usual due to her excitement. She let out a giggle as she stared at the Streamstone.

Lionspot snorted. She was trying so hard to hold in her laughter. Freeze frame cat just got demoted. Her body shook as she let small laughs escape her mouth. She held her paws over her mouth. But it was to much. Lionspot couldn't hold her laugh in anymore. She started laughing her ass off. At one point she fell to the ground with laughter. When she was done. She held up her paw to show she was sorry. She excused herself from the crowd. As she kept laughing.

Shallowstep attempted to avoid the heavy anger that lingered in the air. He shot a quick glance at Lionspot who began erratically laughing. Laughing! Well, that didn't matter. It wasn't his business. He looked at Kestrelstar, feeling a bit sad that he had to deal with everyone's problems and the way he dealt with them, of course gained retaliation. He shot an attempt at a reassuring smile to Kestrelstar, not minding the fact that he probably wouldn't be seen by his leader. He then dropped his head, letting his insecurities settle in.

Crap. Crap. Crap. Maplepaw rushed to the meeting, a sigh erupting her breath. Something something Stormpaw something something Dewfur…She didn’t really bother to pay attention. Sitting down, her mind filled with curiosity of what Snakeheart would say. Her tail flicked anxiousness, wonder covering her mind.

The calico she-cat shifted herself a bit to get more comfy. She let out a slight giggle at the sight of a kit climbing onto the medicine cat. Eventually Dawnflower stopped and waited for Snakeheart to speak.

Codpaw watched the events unfold through wide eyes, his tiredness suddenly forgotten. Stormpelt demoted to Stormpaw? It felt...Codpaw wasn't sure how to feel about it. He didn't understand the looking "weak" or "strong" to the other clans but he did know that you don't speak like Stormpaw did at the gathering, much less at a gathering. So punishment was deserved. Codpaw enjoyed breaking the rules but when he got caught he understood that he needed to face the consequences. Something Stormpelt did not seem to understand. To threaten Kestrelstar? Codpaw couldn't understand even having such a sentiment. He thought it rather commendable and merciful how Kestrelstar was handling it.

He cocked his head curiously. Snakeheart has an announcement? His mind whirled with what it could be. He'd never seen the medicine give an announcement before.

Wh-? Wait a second, she hadn't done anything bad! Why was she getting punished! Lizardfrost had been nothing but a passive bystander, why was Kestrelstar making her do this? But it was a duty, wasn't it? At least there was rlthat. Her duty as a warrior was to guard and calm down thus cat. Too bad she was very bad at him. She looked up at Kestrelstar in confusion and then at Floodpaw with bewilderment.

She shifted her paws. "Cmon.. Cmon..!" She grumbled, she was ready to get out of this meeting, her tail must of been swinging angrily because someone stepped on it. She whipped around, seeing a former apprentice of hers, Timberpaw. "Sorry Stonedapple, I didn't mean to step on your tail!" She smiled, sitting next to the warrior she once called her mentor. "Hello, Timberpaw. Hows the training with your new mentor?" Stonedapple smiled. "Its.. Fine, I miss training with you and Greypaw." Timberpaw put her head down, Stonedapple stood up, gaining a confused look from the apprentice next to her. "Lets go find Greypaw then, you know hes going to be a warrior soon." Stonedapple yawned."Lets go find em?.. Okay!" Timberpaw smiled brightly, the two walked into the mass of cats in the crowd, in search for the Grey and white apprentice.

The medicine cat let out a chuckle at Lavenderkits antics before standing, unbothered by her weight now that he was healthy again and murmuring to her. "Well you can go on the streamstone if I say you can and I am saying so. Just stay on my back and keep quiet please while I speak, we dont need another Stormpaw do we?" Snakeheart would be doing his announcements with a kit on his back it seemed and if anyone decided to protest they could shove it. Lavenderkit was his emotional support kitten and was totally necessary for the trauma of how disastrous many meetings had gone for him in the past..... Yeah that seemed a tad over-dramatic even for him no one would buy it, guess he'd just have to go the 'comment on it I dare you route.


So bounding onto the stone with a kitten still attached to his person the tom waited a moment for things to settle before beginning.

"Alright I know this is out of the ordinary a bit and the last few times Ive been up here have been a bit catastrophic but Im not here with any bad news so settle. Its come to my notice of late that it is detrimental to my health to be the only cat responsible for keeping all of you idiots healthy. Its simply not a one cat job especially given we are the largest clan in the forest and Im sure all of you have heard the effect its had on me latley."
Rumors of his horrific collapse after the shadowclan raid had no doubt made the rounds that very night much less near a moon after the fact. Whether the clan knew the truth that it'd been an emotional and health related breakdown or if gossiping had ballooned the truth to something worse was more debatable but Snakeheart wasnt here to explain what'd occurred. It was personal thank you very much. So he moved on.
"So firstly I'd like to thank the cats that've stepped in to help treat you when Ive been indisposed. They have my complete respect and gratitude and I'd like for them to be recognized for their services in going above and beyond. So thank you Lotusheart and Sparrowskip especially as well as Bumblestep and Rowanmist. Every bit has been helpful.

With that said I realize this may have been a strain on you and am making steps to minimize such things in the future.

In short Im looking into selecting an official medicine cat apprentice and feel the clan should be informed of this development.

Ive not yet made my selection but be aware I am looking and taking things like this situation into account. Medicine cat is no small responsibility and behavior like this can have catastrophic effects on the entire clan even from a regular warrior. It will no be tolerated from those Im considering. So if you have any interest or are even just looking to avoid a demotion for starclans sake think before you act.

In specific Im talking to whoever keeps filling my den with cattail fluff. I will find you and when I do I will skin you alive and use your fur to line my nest so stOP DOING THAT! SERIOUSLY!!

And like he'd never suddenly started yelling at the clan with a kit on his back the tom leapt down and made his way through the crowd, retaking his spot at the back and resuming trying to feed Lavenderkit a bug.

Plumstorm listens to Snakeheart with quickly draining interest. She was more involved in her longing thoughts of her nest now. Her body ached, and she craved sleep badly. But then she hears the peculiar tom mention something... And glances at him... And tips her chin up. He was threatening to use her pelt as nest lining! The shield smirks to herself- No one else knew what she had done to the medicine cat's den. No one knew she'd also been to blame for the same demise happening to their leader. It made her feel proud, though she smothers the cheeky grin from her Clanmates. Maybe she WOULDN'T stop!

Her head was spinning. Stormpelt and Floodfrost, now apprentices. Hazelpaw pressed a paw to her head, clearing away the fog, and stretched her neck to look across the clearing at Stormpel- no, Stormpaw as he screamed at Kestrelstar about 'making an enemy'. In reality, Hazelpaw found the leader more intimidating than Stormpaw, but Stormpaw probably didn't care, the great big foxbrain. Hazelpaw lifted her chin. She knew she wouldn't ever demand her Clanmate's murder, so maybe... Floodpaw DID deserve it. BOTH of them did!

Either Stormpelt hadn't had a good mentor that didn't teach him how to act appropriately, or he was just generally an idiotic ass.

She felt relief that SHE hadn't been demoted, she'd kept to herself during the Gathering, hardly talking to anyone, nodding politely to any cat who greeted her. Hazelpaw's eyelids drooped, and she glanced up at Silverpelt shining up ahead. Somewhere, in those stars, was Graypelt. Hazelpaw could practically IMAGINE Graypelt's disapproving face as she sternly looked down at her offspring.

Snakeheart's looking for an apprentice? Whatever Codpaw had been feeling dissipated. His tiredness was already dispelled by the drama but now he felt...subdued, thoughtful. He'd never considered what it'd be like to be a medicine cat. He was never that eager to reach warriorhood but he'd never considered anything contrary. Medicine cats lived outside normal clan rivalries and they didn't generally fight; those aspects appealed directly to Codpaw. But that would be a huge commitment, wouldn't it? He'd never have a mate, but he'd never found himself interested in any of the she-cats. He thought of Beetlepaw. He hadn't seen his best friend in moons and, for whatever reason, he seemed like the only cat who'd make Codpaw second guess committing his life to Starclan alone. Maybe he should sleep on it first. Though now sleep felt equally necessary but also unattainable. It seemed his entire world was pressing into him all of a sudden; everything he knew about himself and his future seemed to be thrown nauseatingly into question.

Palebrook narrowed her eyes at Nightleap. “That’s not entirely true,” She meowed, just loud enough for the she-cat to hear. She was a little annoyed at Floodpaw being demoted. What, now whenever they spoke up they got demoted? That wasn’t helping her view of Kestrelstar. Stormpaw she understood, he had made quite the scene at the Gathering, but Floodpaw was a little unnecessary.

She wondered where this was going. That was a lie, Splashleap knew EXACTLY what this was about, and she was quite intrigued to see it too. Kestrelstar certainly looked in a mood, which didn't bode well for the embarrassment twins. Technically almost all cats were twins, an only child would be more rare, but it SOUNDED GOOD, ok? A little artistic license could be used from time to time, as long a you didn't overdo it. Which she didn't think this was, but then again, it was her so of course she didn't think it was overdoing it, if she did she wouldn't have continued thinking about it. This was one of those times when a neutral would have been nice, but unfortunately those did not exist inside her head and she would prefer to avoid sounding like she was crazy and asking someone. So continued internal conflict it was, while she watched what was sure to be an external conflict between Kestrelstar and the idiot twins.

And she was not disappointed. Rather than taking their rebuke politely they continued to object, with the now Floodpaw joining Stormpaw as an apprentice until they had learned some manners. Well deserved, in her opinion. She hoped a permanent Gathering ban was included for at least Stormpaw, taking him was really too much trouble, for everyone involved. Yes it was horrible that his mother was killed, yes they were probably going to get into a fight with Shadowclan at some point, no you should not make that fight occur during a Gathering because you couldn't control your tongue. Poor Lizardfrost. Too competent for her own good.

Snakeheart's announcement was unexpected, but not completely so. He had been tired lately, and a helper would definitely be good for him. And he seemed to have a bit of his humor back, or at least Splashleap hoped he was joking about skinning whoever was filling his den with Cattail fluff. In her opinion it might be more efficient to just use the Cattail fluff for his own nest, but that wouldn't send quite the point, would it? And, she supposed, the fluff might stick to you a bit more than fur, especially if that fur was still a full pelt. Hmm, maybe there were merits to the idea of skinning the perpetrator after all.

Looking from Kestrelstar to the other warriors then at Dewfur. "DEWFUR how could you let them do this to me? As he looked at her with such hatred. Then he looked at his "Mentor". "You Can prepare Ill we the worst Apprentice you have ever seen!" He meowed lassing his tail from side to side. "Attack me Ha! Well Guess what your an apprentice to!" he meowed shoving his face into his face.

A small smile played upon his features, almost impossible to see, but there all the same. Oh, to be a kit born into a Clan. Not having to worry about survival, or if you'd be alive tomorrow. Whitekit had lost his mother, but at least he knew where she was. Where was Blizzardwind's mother? She didn't believe in StarClan, if she was dead, did she just cease to exist? If she was alive, was she starving? Cold? Scared? He let out a larger, more troubled sigh.

Then, forcing a light expression on his face, he bent down to get to the kit's level. "Well, you're right. It is late. He'll probably have your apprentice ceremony very soon, but not tonight. He's probably tired. I know I'm tired." He let out an exaggerated yawn. "Because I'm old and grumpy. I need my sleep, that's for sure."

Before Snakeheart had even made it up to the Streamstone, the sound of cackling laughter caused Kestrelstar to frown. He had just gone over Gathering etiquette because he was certain his Clan didn't need meeting etiquette reminders. Yellow eyes shot over to the source - Lionspot, stars had he made a mistake letting her back into the Clan? - and he watched her for a moment. He refrained from saying anything, just making a note to keep a better eye on her.

It appeared as if Shallowstep might step in to help, but the tom simply disregarded the issue - which was probably the smartest decision to make. Any attention Lionspot received would only fuel the fire, and Kestrelstar gave a nod to the warrior to acknowledge his look.

Turning his gaze onto Snakeheart, the leader couldn't help but look a bit surprised. So, the snarky medicine cat was looking for an apprentice, huh? They would need all the help they could get if they were to put up with the sharp wit of the tom. He was proud though - Snakeheart seemed to really be taking care of himself, standing on the rock poised and professional. With a little tag along. Kestrelstar offered a tiny smile towards Lavenderkit who was latched onto the medicine cats back, waving his tail as they descended the Streamstone once more.

The news that his den had been filled with cattail fluff too though caused a raised brow. Huh. So the culprit had targeted him and Snakeheart. Surveying the crowd for reactions to the news, none were really noteworthy aside from... Was Plumstorm... smirking? A rather curious thing, and something he'd maybe bring up later to her to gauge a closer reaction.

Hearing his former apprentice call up to him, Kestrelstar stifled a wince from fully forming. He appreciated the sentiment, and that Nightleap was, like Junipersong, so willing to forgive him, but he still didn't feel as if he'd earned it. Regardless, he shot her a grateful glance. The look that Palebrook gave her, and the words she spoke, quickly dimmed it. "If there are those who question my decisions on why the two former warriors were demoted, you're welcome to seek me out in my den and I can gladly explain it again." It was mainly directed towards Palebrook, but his voice and tone made it heard by everyone.

A bit of a scuffle captured his interest as Kestrelstar swung his head around, but thankfully Blizzardwind was doing a good job on leading Stormpaw away from the meeting. He was right to place his faith in the older warrior - whatever leftover resentment he had for Kestrelstar, it didn't affect his duties, which pleased the gray tabby leader. It was the sign of a good warrior to him.

With that taken care of, the call of Whitekit now earned a soft sigh that wasn't detectable by the crowd below. "The next meeting I call will be handling ceremonies. It's too late tonight," he replied, though couldn't help but feel a bit bad for the kit. Stars, to have Dewfur and Stormpaw as family - Kestrelstar couldn't imagine. "This meeting is dismissed," he announced, nodding to his Clan before dismounting the Streamstone. He nodded to Splashleap as he passed her before slipping into his den.

Palebrook narrowed her eyes at Nightleap. “That’s not entirely true,” She meowed, just loud enough for the she-cat to hear. She was a little annoyed at Floodpaw being demoted. What, now whenever they spoke up they got demoted? That wasn’t helping her view of Kestrelstar. Stormpaw she understood, he had made quite the scene at the Gathering, but Floodpaw was a little unnecessary.

Palebrook followed Nightleap with her eyes, then got up and padded away in the other direction. Whatever. Not everyone had the same take on the events that had unfolded with Kestrelstar as leader. But Nightleap was a little ignorant on them. Of course she was blaming him for something. Half of the bloodshed between RiverClan and ThunderClan could have been avoided if he hadn’t been so stubborn. But clearly Nightleap didn’t think that way, and who was Palebrook to say she was wrong?

With the sun rising high into the sky, Kestrelstar was just getting back into camp from escorting Dogbark back to the border. All of his muscles ached from the previous night, though his more serious wounds were already on their way to healing. Snakeheart had told him to take it easy, but there were things to do - ceremonies, a few cats who needed their names, a warning to those that the coyotes seemed to be back. Hopefully him and Dogbark had scared them off, but the leader wanted to remain cautious in any case.

Sucking in a quick breath, the gray tabby tom bunched his muscles before springing up to the Streamstone, claws scrambling to get ahold as he hauled himself to the top. Sides heaved a bit with the effort but he managed to do it, moving to the front of the rock and gazing down at his Clan.

"Let all those old enough to swim gathering beneath the Streamstone for a Clan meeting!"

Kestrelstar let his voice ring out through the clearing, sitting back to wait for everyone to gather. He was tired but didn't let it show, making sure his posture was good and that his fur had been cleaned thoroughly so that there was no trace of the coyote fight. If he could, he wanted to keep his lost life a secret from everyone except Snakeheart, who he had already told.

FOR CLARIFICATION, DOGBARK IS NOT PRESENT AT THIS MEETING. KESTRELSTAR ESCORTED HIM BACK TO THE BORDER EARLY IN THE MORNING AFTER HE WAS DONE BEING HEALED BY SNAKEHEART, WHEN THE CAMP WAS STILL ASLEEP. YOUR CAT IS WELCOME TO HAVE SPOTTED THEM, BUT REMEMBER IT TOOK PLACE EARLY IN THE MORNING, SO IF THEY WERE SLEEPING THEY WOULD NOT HAVE SEEN THE THUNDERCLAN DEPUTY COME OR LEAVE.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF THEY WERE IN THE MEDICINE DEN WHEN THE DEPUTY WAS BROUGHT IN - THEY WOULD THEN HAVE SEEN HIM.

Shooting up in her nest, she rolled out of the tiny makeshift pile of moss she had made for herself and scampered out of the nursery. ¨HI!¨ She shouted, little tail poofing up. Yay! Sun shone and made her silvery pelt glow like a moon as she quickly hoped over as her leader called. As much as she enjoyed the whole clan coming together to listen like this even she who usually was so positive had to admit the news were really as good as one would hope. New cats in their ranks and other rising up through them was always something to rejoices over but far too often were the leader's words about war and loss rather than births or new clan mates.

Speaking of which... Her blue eyes narrow slightly as she peered at Kestrelstar. Those weren't wounds were they? She could almost swear she saw some thing along those lines but was too far away to be sure, so it must be her eyes playing a trick on her, since there hadn't been any battles recent enough.

Right, meetings. The number one brewing grounds of conflict now a days it seemed. Something that certainly wasn't helped by the shear number of traitors and disloyal cats her clan was littered with. Plumstorm. Lizardfrost. Even apprentices like Webpaw and possibly Tumblepaw as well. But they were still important to announce things and such, get new apprentices and warriors would certainly help out in the fast approaching war with Shadowclan she was confident would come, if not soon then later.

Reedpaw awkwardly walked over, keeping away from most cats. He'd just walked back in, and there was already a meeting. Looking around, he saw many faces: some new, some old, most curious. The former exile shifted uncomfortably: would anyone call him out due to him turning traitor at the raid? Most likely. So long as neither Goosefury nor Lizardfrost spotted him, though, he would be fine.

Codpaw was woken by Kestrelstar's voice. He yawned and slipped out of the apprentice den, blinking against the sunlight. He'd slept in. He shrugged, stretched, then found a place among the gathering cats to listen to Kestrelstar's announcements.

Snakeheart was in a sour mood all things considered. The biggest birdbrain in the forest had brought the thunderclan deputy into their camp and his den after fighting an coyote like an idiot and loosing yet another life. Apparently the squirrel mutt 'wasnt that bad' and 'saved him from the coyote' (not well enough though typical thunderclan) and so he 'should heal him as thunderclan had no medicine cat right now'. Ugh though that last part was news to him and the tom had a lot of mixed feelings about it. He'd never been close to Icicleripple and really their relationship had been... fraught to say the least but he didnt wish her dead. Thunderclan. Even having to think about the clan was troublesome. Still to summarise the medicine cat was grumpy and shot a stink eyes glare at the cat on top of the streamstone as he took his seat idly grumbling under his breath even as he started to groom his fur to perfection as he usually did.

A sharp meeting call roused Sorrelhawk from her sleep, blue eyes blinking open in the dim lighting of the warriors den. It wasn't early by any means, but she had been out late last night and was attempting to catch up on sleep as much as she could. With leaf-bare coming, the fawn spotted she-cat did not want to risk catching a cold and being stuck inside the medicine den. It had been quite some time since the last time she'd had to pay the stinky herb den and it's medicine cat a visit, and the longer she could go without doing so, the better.

She emerged from the den, jaws parting in a huge yawn. Blue hues shifted to where Kestrelstar stood atop the Streamstone, and the state of him cause a ripple of panic. Were those... wounds? Drifting from the leader towards where Snakeheart had come, she noticed the rather venomous look he shot the tom. Something had happened, and in an instant Sorrelhawk was awake and trotting over to join the growing crowd.

"I don't want you around me. Ever. So stay away unless you want me to speak to Kestrelstar and have you banished." He says, voice low and deep.
Way to go, Bro!' Koipaw screams in Coldpaw's mind.

Coldpaw leaves the other cats, his eyes filled with emptyess. He lays down and sighs, listening and waiting for Kestrelstar to speak. Until Hazepaw walks to him. "Leave me alone, idiot." "Are you saying you will tattle? Stupid cat." He turns tail and walks into the apprentice den, closing his eyes at the back of the den.
