Ashfall rose groggily as the sunlight peeked through the branches of the warriors den. Today was a new day, and a day that he had to train an apprentice at that. A territory tour sounded rather nice today, actually. They would have to avoid Smallpines because of the otters, but that was still a rather nice walk to each border. The tom stretched and yawned, before walking out of the warriors den to the clearing.

"Vervainpaw," the tom called in gently to the apprentices den. "It's time to wake up. We have a long day of travel ahead of us, so get something to eat," he mewed warmly. The tom sat in a sunspot and groomed his fur, having just eaten a trout.

Vervainpaw had been sleeping peacefully, cream and red fur rising and falling gently with each slow breath. He was dreaming again- Water and friends and different conversations she's heard flooded his mind, making his dreams a confusing jumble. Then, a burst of colour. Accompanied by a call. 'Vervainpaw!' Followed by more words.

The apprentice woke with a start, grey eyes wide and tail twitching. Vervain blinked, fractured strands of sunlight streaming down from faint gaps in the den roof, confusing her vision for a second. But then he realised that the call hadn't been just in his dream- She was actually being called! The cream she jumped up, shaking moss from her pelt, red tabby marks shifting with his movements. Vervainpaw bolted outside, tail twitching, grey eyes flickering around to locate her new mentor- A tom named Ashfall.

Finally, Vervainpaw adjusted to the sunlight and found Ashfall, eyes landing squarely on the dark dark pelt. Trotting up, the tabby mix grinned, and said, "Well, the name certainly suits you." Before grinning widely and hopping in a circle around him once, and then stopping. "You should know this already, but I'm Vervainpaw! I am really looking forward to this, so what are we doing today?" Purple tinted grey eyes peered at the warrior, Vervain's ruffled tail flicking back and forth.

Ashfall grinned at the apprentices excitement as she ran out to greet him. "Today is gonna be your territory tour," the tom mewed coolly. "We will have to avoid Smallpines this time around, but I'm sure you will see it one of these days,". "As soon as we can get this otter situation handled" the tom thought to himself.

Vervainpaw purred, cream and red fur ruffling. "Alright! But I hope you can keep up because I'ma speedrun this!" The apprentice bounded off, tail swishing behind her. There was a joking twinkle in her grey eyes, and he glanced back to see where Ashfall was.

As Vervain waited, he stopped to lick his paw, nonchalantly grooming her fur, rough texture making the groom well... not make it any tidier at all. Because she had sprinted off, when her mentor arrived, Vervainpaw said teasingly, "Tsk, so slow Ashfall. I thought I told you to keep up." Laughing slightly, she grinned at the dark tom, not bothered by her sass at all. "Where first?"

Ashfall snickered as the apprentice dashed off, leaving him to walk on his own. By the time the tom reached him, she was already starting back up with the sass, to which Ashfall rolled his eyes exaggeratedly, snickering under a slight smile.

"You'll scare off all the prey in the forest, runnin away like that," he mewed jokingly. "At least be quiet if you're gonna run off," he joked. The dark grey tom's eyes scanned the territory, marking off the direction to Smallpines. "We will go to Sedgewater Valley first, our border with WindClan," the tom mewed. "And stay somewhat close by please, the tom purred lightly. "WindClan mentioned traps at the last gathering and I would rather you not end up stuck in one,".

Oops. The apprentice had forgotten all about prey- but supposedly that was acceptable because he hadn't had a hunting lesson yet. Vervainpaw stood back up, shaking out her cream and red fur, and padded alongside her mentor. "Sedgewater Valley. And yeah I heard about those traps- Are they really that dangerous?" Her tone was genuine, curious.

Ashfall nodded at the apprentices question. "There is different kinds, some less dangerous per say than others," the tom mewed. By all rights, all the traps were dangerous in their own ways. "Some just trap you and make it so that Twolegs can just take you, and others will clamp down on your leg, rather nasty like. Some are even extreme about it and will take ur paw off," he mewed grimly. "And we don't want that,".

Vervainpaw nodded, her serious face on now, though she still lingered ahead, not quite in front of him, but close enough. He was quite eager to go go go! Flicking his red tipped tail, the cream and red mixed tabby looked curiously around the territory as they went, grey eyes not missing a thing. He understood the trap warnings, but still kinda just wanted to rush ahead. "Okay, I'll be careful of traps. But with my energy, they could hardly snap shut fast enought anyways!" She added jokingly, the apprentice flicking her ear at him. "So," Vervainpaw meowed, happily humming. "Where first??"

Ashfall rolled his eyes in an exasperated fashion, giving a hard side eye at the apprentice. "As fast as you are, those traps are faster," he mewed. "However, I don't think we have much to worry about by the border," he purred.

Vervainpaw grinned, and bounded off again. "Those traps are faster!" She mimicked, Ashfall's voice coming from his mouth with an almost unsettling similarity. The red and cream tabby mix doubled back, grey eyes sparkling, constantly flicking around. He wondered why it was taking so long. "Alright. Where is this 'Sedgewater Valley' at? I wanna see it!" The apprentice explained, rough textured fur ruffling in the slight breeze.
