RiverClan RiverClan Medicine Cat Apprentice Applications!

RIVERCLAN MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE
~ APPLICATIONS ~

It is the moment you've all been waiting for...
Berryshine is looking for an apprentice!

**Please read ALL of the information before applying.**

After moons of hardship and loneliness, our timid little she-cat has finally healed enough from losing her best friend and coworker, now looking for a new apprentice. She has a good mindset, wanting to find someone who is faithful to the Clan and will work diligently alongside her to provide their safety and comfort. Due to the significance of this role, the RiverClan HR team is taking this choice very seriously and want to see the best rise up to the challenge!

We're not looking for just generic forms here with names, ages, and basic skills. We wanna see creativity and passion put into this, as we'll expect out of you if you're chosen!

Any current warriors or apprentices are able to apply (and older kits, like those at/around 5-6 moons!). While making new characters for this application is completely fine, we would also like plenty of information on their backstory, character, personality, etc. to see how compatible they are with the HRs.

**NOTE: Herbal knowledge does NOT give you a one-up in this application. Berry adores teaching and will be happy to pass along all of her knowledge, as she's done in prior events; buying the purrks will not count towards our consideration.**

**Before proceeding, please read the HR Expectations and the High Rank Selection Process!**

- - -

EXPECTATIONS

- HIGH ACTIVITY. The HR team requires an active and consistent user! While we acknowledge things like uncontrollable events, hiatuses, and life itself are inevitable and natural, we are looking for someone who expects to be INVOLVED and in here for the long haul. This position is both a labor of love and something vital for the Clan's wellbeing; that means no dropping off the map unexpectedly or someone who fizzles out of motivation, barring extenuating circumstances. Most of the time, as long as you're communicating and planning ahead of time, we are fine and dandy! Speaking of...

- COMMUNICATION. While it isn't a requirement, having Discord will be beneficial so we can add you into our Lionheart and High Rank server. It is invaluable to be able to communicate both on and off WCO, especially as issues/events are happening in real-time. You'll be expected to actively participate in both servers by contributing meaningfully to discussions, generating ideas, providing feedback, and responding within a reasonable timeframe to pings. You should frequently check your VMs and DMs, and should answer any important ones within a few days.

- CHARACTER. While it's a very rewarding and positive experience to be an HR, it can also be grueling, frustrating, patience-testing, and at times downright upsetting depending on what goes down. We expect RiverClan's medicine cat apprentice to demonstrate maturity, patience, and level-headedness in the way they engage with the community OOC. How you act also reflects the other HRs and the Clan altogether; let's figure things out! If things get too testy, we have a wonderful staff team ready to back you up.

- ORGANIZATION. There are plenty of tools at our disposal, and we medicine cats have a very important task of staying updated. There's a lot to keep track of! Some things include ensuring patrols are being sent out as scheduled, the herb store is being properly updated and tracked, old herbs are being removed routinely, healing forms are being answered and healing rps tracked, and that your own training is progressing steadily and efficiently, among other things. Tools like spreadsheets are fantastic to help with this!

- TIME. Time is precious, and we recognize time can be fleeting. But given the significance of an HR role, we expect that you understand the time you will be dedicating to the position and its IC duties! Between healings, patrols, and regular RPs, and chats with the HRs, several hours a week are likely to be devoted to your time here.

- DEDICATION. This sort of goes with the activity blurb, but I can't stress this enough: RiverClan has been THROUGH IT, and we are looking to create a longlasting set of HRs. We ask (and beg) that if you apply to this, you are serious about wanting your character to be in this for the long haul! We understand things like plot ideas and interactions are engaging and fun, but you should also be mindful of both IC/OOC consequences that may impact you and your character should you pursue them. We don't want to pick someone who plans to have their character die within the next few months or have some crazy scandal. We understand that things happen (as is the nature of roleplay), but we ask that you be mindful!

Ideally, whoever gets this position will remain in the spot for at least 9-12 months. Given all of this, we respectfully ask that you refrain from applying if you fall into one or more of the following categories:

- Your computer access is frequently restricted (i.e. you can only access WCO on a school computer or your parents often restrict your access to WCO)
- You have many OOC obligations that may significantly affect your activity.
- You have a very hard time committing to a character for more than a few months.

Whew. That's a lotta words. But if you haven't been scared off yet, here's the more fun considerations... with our gal Berry! (and the HRs :3)

IC CONSIDERATIONS

- Berryshine is a sweet, timid cat who is incredibly faithful to StarClan, RiverClan, and her friends/family. That being said, your cat does NOT have to have a similar personality to be chosen, so do not cater your character just for this application! We are looking for compatibility, yes, but that can be done as long as your cat shares similar values: duty to the Clan, and a love for helping them. As long as Berry knows that your cat is loyal (and isn't some ruthless, dark-hearted cat who enjoys hurting others), she is likely to consider them regardless of personality! So apply any of your applicable kitties you want!

- Recently, Berryshine lost her former co-medic, Cobwebstorm. This was her best friend and someone she trusted dearly. Because of the lingering stress from watching her friend go into self-exile due to a series of unfortunate events, Berry is VERY mindful about this next choice. She wants to choose somebody who seems reliable, trustworthy, and considerate so as to hopefully prevent another mishap like before (and to not lose someone else so soon). This experience is something that will likely be relevant in her training with the future med app.

- IC, she will be running these candidates by Owlstar and Sunheart, too, wanting to make the best and most informed choice; therefore, your cat should probably have a decent reputation (or at least no major bad marks) in terms of reliability, character, and trustworthiness to be considered! (This is not to exclude cats that have 'messed up' in the past; we all love a good redemption story! If you apply such a cat, we'd love to see some emphasis on how they're trying to get better and more steadfast. This could be their chance!).

Aaand... I think that's it! Hopefully, if you've made it this far, you're still interested. The RiverClan HR team looks forward to seeing all your lovely applications and the passion behind them! We appreciate all you lovely roleplayers who love RC as much as we, and will take the time to apply

Ready, set... go!!

credit to occultation in the last med applications for a good chunk of the expectations/wording <3
APPLICATIONS WILL BE DUE:
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11TH AT 11:59PM EST

there is a day/night feature on this application!! in whatever your device's time is, play at both before 7:00 pm and after 8:00 pm to get the full experience

hello hello! my name is shoomy and i'd like to welcome you to VINE'S SILLY APPLICATION! this application - of wackiness - has been scientifically proven to be the silliest application in the inphinity I MEAN COUGH COUGH I AM AN A- A HUMAN A NORMAL HUMAN WITH TWO EYES WHICH IS THE NORMAL AMOUNT A NORMAL HUMAN NOT A PHIGHTER OR ALIEN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY NOT A BOX DEMON

who the heck is shroomy? no one im shoomy

shoomy is a therian and furry who once had a character named yellowtwist which was pretty much the only reason anyone knew their name, but then something bad happened so i had to quit. later, i obviously returned

JOKES ON YOU, NO I DIDN'T, IMAGINE BEING SO FOOLISH AS TO BELIEVE I RETURNED MWAHAHAHA

ok but seriously, stuff had changed. i had found my love of scene and bright neon colors. i returned to the discord to hang out prior, when i found regretevator, phighting, block tales, which you may or may not have heard me mention. maybe. (I have played overtime on a kazoo and use it frequently)

I started throwing characters at a wall to see what stuck. none of them stuck until recently. first, i created redpounce and wolfcoil based off the characters skateboard and coil from the hit game phighting, and shortly after vinepaw. thats pretty much it so far

you should pick me because i'm swag/j
seriously though im afraid my positive traits consists of friendly and like... idk sheer amount of useless knowledge

so here's some stuff about vine

she's inspired by katana, vine staff, and subspace (just the backstory lmao i swear she wont start poisoning people for fun) from, you guessed it, phighting, but she is a different character. her main inspiration is not a character but a song, being watcher's crown by cloudkissed.

her favorite flavor of ice cream would be vanilla bean

Shorepaw
13 Moons - He/Him They/Them
A tall cream tom with blue-gray hind legs and white markings
“We didn’t choose this life, we’re just living it”

PERSONALITY
Shorepaw is a reserved tom. He dislikes long-winded conversations, preferring quiet exchanges or short necessary unless he feels truly comfortable with someone.

Despite his restered nature, he is fiercely loyal to his core. Shorepaw does not hesitate to defend those in need, whether through sharp words or sharpened claqs. He isn’t reckless—just impulsive. He's kind, but it isn't the blind, flowery optimistic kind. It's rooted in understanding. He sees others for who they are, flaws and all, and still chooses to stand beside them, despite everything they may have done.

Honesty is both his blessing and his curse. He doesn’t sugarcoat his opinions, often speaking with blunt directness that can come off as harsh or disrespectful, even if he never intends to hurt. His empathy is quiet but there. It's shown through his actions and behavior rather than in his words.

Shorepaw is impatient. Its plain and simple, he doesn't like waiting. It can lead to impusive descisons and rash descisons. He's jumpy and irritable, particularly when startled or put in unpredictable situations. Loud noises trigger something in his brain, and he shuts off the kindness and becomes snappy. He has no tolerance for chaotic cats, which is odd, saying as how he was when younger.

Yet, for all his flaws, there is an undeniable charm in him. He is steadfast and reliable. And when he believes in something, he holds onto it, whether an idea or a someone, with relentless devotion.
Traits: + Kind, Understanding, Loyal, Protective, Curious, Empathetic, Charming
= Analytical, Reserved, Blunt,
- Impulsive, Judgmental, Stubborn, Guarded, Reclusive, Impatient

BACKSTORY

Kithood
Shorekit was born to Shellgnaw and Sandpurr, alongside Dunekit. Shorekit was a chaotic kit, often running around the Riverclan camp and bothering as many cats as he possibly could. His parents disappeared at some point, he didn't really know. Not that it mattered to him, of course. He pushed aside the grief and continued his antics being Riverclan's local menace! He scampered around, quickly becoming impatient. Where was his apprenticeship? He demanded it! Respectfully, of course. Because if Shorekit was anything, it was respectful! Heh.

Eventually, Dunekit disappears too. This loss stings him a bit more. Him and Dune were close, they were his partner in crime, he caused trouble with him constantly. But Shorekit never once let himself grieve, and he kept kicking! Haha. Yeah no he is so bad with loss.

Apprenticeship - First moon
Hey, there was his apprenticeship! Great! Shorepaw was thrilled to be free of his tiny baby cage. He was apprenticed to Pebblesplash. He didn't really get much training done, it was mostly going around bragging how he was finally an apprentice, due to his mentor not doing much. Shorepaw looked up the a warrior named Silentfall, and followed her around constantly. One day, he saw Silentfall leaving camp at night, and of course, he had to follow her! It's what he did. He scampered after her, but he lost her. Shorepaw tried following what he thought was her scent, but he was not entirely familiar with her, and very quickly got lost. He panicked, and tried going back, but it was dark, and he had no scent trail. He got lost. It was silly of him to keep going and wait until a patrol found him, but Shorepaw wasn't thinking logically. And it doesn't take a kit long to get lost.

Outsider Time
After Shorepaw accidentally left Riverclan, he wandered the twoleg place. He made a very good friend named Gnash. Gnash was an outdoor kittypet that had found Shorepaw while he had first come to the twoleg place, and they bonded immediately. The pair did everything together, and Shorepaw had begun to follow him to his twoleg place on the cold nights. One night, they decided to explore together! Nothing really could go wrong, right? Unfortunately, someone's dog had gotten off the leash earlier that day, and this dog wasn't very friendly. Gnash and Shorepaw tried to run from the dog, but they were both still young, and it caught up. Gnash was quickly killed and thrown aside, leaving the dogs full attention on Shorepaw. He tried to fight it, but the dog got his back, biting down and leaving a deep wound. Shorepaw couldn't fight anymore, so he let the dog lose interest without bleeding out. Shorepaw fell unconscious, and the dog shortly left. At some point, Shorepaw sustained a wound on his face, leaving him blind in his right eye.

Shorepaw woke up in an unfamiliar den. It reeked of twolegs. He quickly realized he was in a twoleg den, and then also realized, there was a dog. A small one. And then, a third realization, he couldn't see out of his right eye. This is when panic set in. He began yowling, demanding to be set free from the metal enclosure.

Moons passed, his physical wounds healed, not without a limp and a blind eye, but minor damages, yknow. Shorepaw couldn't handle being around dogs. He never was allowed to leave the den. So he was trapped. He began plotting his escape. Shorepaw memorized the twolegs routine. When they left the house and the monster outside rumbled away, when they let the dog outside, when they brought the twoleg kit away to the side of house he wasn't allowed. Everything. Now, the plotting officially began. But, all his plans were thrown aside when the door was left open for a second longer. He darted out of the house, and ran as fast as he could, finally leaving behind the twolegs. He ran until his chest ached and his limp had made it practically impossible for him to walk. But he had made it far enough. He settled down for the night in a hopefully abandoned den that reeked of some predator, and when he woke up in the morning, it was time to find Riverclan again, even if he hardly felt like a clan cat any longer. Shorepaw had been gone for too long.

Shorepaw wandered for about a moon, making acquaintances and allies, all while teaching himself the basics of life. He wandered and wandered, until..it felt familiar. Suddenly the land wasn't a stranger to his mind, not an unfamiliar place he had yet to figure out of the dangers of, it was home. He raced to the borders of Riverclan, refusing to let his limp set him back. And he waited. He was home, and it was time to actually come back.

WHY HIM?
Shorepaw doesn’t want another cat to suffer injuries like he had. After the twolegs locked him up and leaving his wounds to fester without proper care. It was in the past now, but the scars never really left him. If he could do something, anything, to prevent another cat from feeling that same powerless dread, he would. And so he would do everything in his power to make sure no cat had to sit and suffer.

It’s not as if Berryshine isn’t already doing these things—she’s capable and Shorepaw respects her deeply. But the thought of standing by while knowing he could possibly be doing more keeps pressing at him. He wants to contribute because the idea of turning his back on a cat in pain feels almost unbearable to him. He understands what it’s like to be unable to fight for yourself due to something you couldn't control. And that is the main of few reasons he ever considers violence—when it’s truly necessary to protect someone who can’t do it themselves because of sickness or injury or they're scared.

Shorepaw has always had an interest in herbs though, but at one point, like most apprentices, he got caught up in the all-consuming desire to be the best warrior possible. And in a way, that dream never truly left him, as Shorepaw would still love to be a warrior. But the reality of his injuries, the way his hind legs sometimes ache or restrict his speed due to the limp, forced him to possibly reconsider. He can fight and he can run just fine, although not for long, but there will always be moments where his body betrays him, reminding him that sheer force and agility may never be his strongest weapons.

Healing, though—healing is something he can rely on. Something that doesn’t demand brute strength or speed but patience, knowledge, and the steady confidence of knowing exactly how to help. And that is something he can do. That is something he can master, and is entirely willing to.

PROS AND CONS

PROS

Personal Motivation – Shorepaw’s past injuries and neglect weren’t just painful—they were a defining experience. He knows what it feels like to suffer without help, and that drives him to ensure no cat ever endures the same. His emotional connection to the role makes him deeply invested in his patients’ well-being, pushing him to be as thorough and attentive as possible.

Curiosity and Knowledge – Even before officially stepping into the role, Shorepaw had an interest in herbs. This natural curiosity means he’s more likely to pick up medicinal knowledge quickly, retaining complex treatments and remedies without struggling. His ability to apply this knowledge efficiently makes him an asset, ensuring he doesn’t just learn—he uses what he learns.

Non-violent Views – Shorepaw has never been one to seek out fights. He believes in protecting others, but not through unnecessary aggression. His philosophy aligns well with the medicine cat path—rather than using his claws to safeguard his clanmates, he uses his mind, his knowledge, and his care. The only time he’d ever resort to violence would be if a helpless cat were in immediate danger and had no means to defend themselves.

Empathetic and Observant – He’s deeply in tune with others' emotions and picks up on subtle cues—pain, discomfort, distress—even when a cat tries to hide it. This makes him particularly effective at treating cats who may not openly express their suffering. He’s also incredibly perceptive about details, whether it’s minor changes in symptoms or shifts in a cat’s behavior that might indicate something wrong.

Determination – Giving up isn’t in Shorepaw’s nature, especially when it comes to the health and safety of his clanmates. His stubbornness ensures no cat gets left behind under his watch. Even if a situation seems hopeless, he refuses to stop until he’s exhausted every option. He only steps back if Berryshine does—and if she explicitly tells him to as well.

CONS

Physical Limitations – Shorepaw has a blind right eye with torn skin, and a mauled back, leaving his hind legs with mobility issues. If he walking for too fast or for too long, his wounds begin aching and leaving him with a limp. These injuries could make gathering herbs in emergencies difficult or limit his ability to reach patients quickly. His injuries also chip away at his confidence; when he fails or falls behind, he questions whether he’s truly good enough for the clan.

Emotional Weight and Trauma – Shorepaw’s past is brutal—being trapped with twolegs, watching his best friend die, getting mauled by a dog. These experiences left him deeply unsettled, resulting in:

Jumpy or rude behavior—He startles easily, especially during loud noises or moments of tension.

Flashbacks—Certain smells, sights, or sounds (especially dogs) trigger panic responses, making him mentally check out for a few minutes.

Aggression under stress—On bad days, he can get snappy and irritable, especially when overwhelmed. Though this rarely affects his ability to heal, the trauma causes insomnia, leading to exhaustion that makes him groggy and sometimes less alert during important or potentially stressful moments.

Fear of Failure – Losing a patient isn’t just tragic for him. No, it’s personal. He gets attached to those he heals and blames himself if they die under his care. He fears letting his clanmates suffer, but even more than that, he fears being powerless to help. While this makes him dedicated to improvement, it also creates unnecessary pressure—pushing himself too hard, questioning his abilities, and struggling to forgive himself after failures, etcetera.

Leadership Issues (?) – Medicine cats hold authority, guiding their clan in moments of crisis and making decisions. While Shorepaw respects and admires Berryshine, he may struggle to speak up in situations where his input is needed. These doubts might slow him down when time is critical.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLES

Shorepaw tensed as the bushes rustled. The tom breathed a sigh of relief as Owltalon revealed herself. Or..not..Owltalon he supposed. Owlstar. That meant Stormstar was dead, likely. Or stepped down. That was a shock. It would take some getting used to. Shorepaw shook his pelt, his paws shuffling as the scarred she-cat spoke to him. What warrior was it?? "I..don't remember entirely. Fallen..something." Shorepaw admitted hesitantly, his tail flicking slowly. Fallen seemed right. But Fallen what?? "I'm sorry, I don't..er..remember their full name." Shorepaw apologized, frowning. Oh? The tom blinked at the question posed. Training? Hell, he hardly remembered who mentor was. "Er..no ma'am. I don't think so." He answered. Oh, that was pathetic. 12 moons old and no training. That's what he got for living as a kittypet for so long without escaping. He could've been back by now.

Wow. This was weird. Shorepaw was..Riverclan. Back home. But, it didn't really feel like home. Not as much as it used to. He wasn't gone for a crazy amount of time. Why'd it feel wrong to be here? Shorepaw shoved away the thoughts, focusing his attention to the clearing. Clanmates. He didn't recognize a damn cat here, which meant he really felt like an outsider. No cat that he could talk to. The tom sat at the edge of the clearing silently observing the clan. Maybe he could latch on to some randos mannerisms and hope everyone didn't hate him. He didn't know how to interact with them. Shorepaw is beyond thrilled he's back, but he didn't consider what would happen when he got home. Now it was too late for him to actually do any planning, he was already here. So, he could sit. And regret not planning. And pray and hope some cat came up to him to have just a regular conversation and not bring up anything relating to Shorepaw in any capacity at all. Because he didn't want that. If only he was a warrior, then he could hunt and not have any awkward conversations while still being useful. But, alas. He couldn't. Not alone. The tom sighed to himself as his tail flicked behind him

WHY ABOUT ME
I do not enjoy speaking about myself in such a manner as "I'm awesome pick me" (at least, this is what it feels like to me personally. ), so I will tell you a little bit about myself before we move onto pros and cons! Nothing much, just a bit of stuff 'bout me!

Hi! I'm Ollie, a 16 year old high school student! I've been on this site for a little over a year, and I've done tons of roleplaying since! I am not nearly as old as some on the site (coughs, cinder) but I do like to think I have pretty decent experience! I've made mistakes and learned from them, as most of us do. I am homeschooled and I do actives like BSA (Boy Scouts) and a youth group! I am busy on Tuesdays majority of the time, and sometimes I will disappear during weekends or longer (only longer during the summer, due to summer camp) for camping trips! I play guitar and write(obviously), and I am also am artist! I love rock and punk music, but I'll listen to anythin! Now, we are moving on to pros and cons!

PROS AND CONS

PROS

Experience - I am a relatively experienced writer! I have massively improved since I've first joined WCO, and I'm still improving always! Writing has become an enjoyable hobby for me instead of a chore for school, and I'm glad I no longer hold it in that light! I have been in the site since early March 2024, so I know my way around by now!

Genuine Interest - I am wholeheartedly interested in becoming an HR. I've tried a few times now (which, has yet gotten me nowhere, but someday! Hopefully soon<3) and Shorepaw is currently one of my favorites! I do genuinely want this role, and I will try my hardest to meet expectations! I've been wanting to be a high rank for a while, and I'm genuinely glad I wasn't chosen before, I am ready now!

Friendliness! - Yes! I am, alas, a very friendly fellow. Ask anyone I know, they can confirm. I swear I'm not meanie. I try to welcome as many members as I can, but there's been so many lately! But, yes. I try to be warm and open as much as I can before it becomes overbearing.

Open Communication - I do not have discord, and likely won't, due me and my parents own personal comfort, but my PMs and VMs are ALWAYS open! I am quick to respond majority of the time, as I am regularly online! 3-5 hours a day is my usual.(as you can tell i don't have a life)

CONS

Mental Health - I am diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and sometimes, when I'm doing bad, my motivation will decrease extremely. Shorter posts are likely during this time. These episodes don't tend to last more than 2 or 3 weeks, don't worry. And, I am still likely to be active with Shorepaw as much as I am able to. Also, I am autistic, and my hyperfixations may affect activity (though it's not nearly as much as..yeah), as they (sort've) been lately!<3

Lack of HR Experience - I have only been high-ranks in alt clans, which very obviously are not the same as a real high-ranking position. I am beyond willing to learn and adjust as I need, not to worry! Just beware that my high rank experience is limited. I fully understand the need for high activity and open and consistent clan involvement.

Weak Memory - I often need bumps and little pokes for me to remember roleplays. I have yet to find out why my memory is so poor, but I have my bump policy set to six hours, and anyone is more than welcome to bump sooner on time sensitive roleplays.

And as always, anything that comes up IRL is not always predictable. Especially with where I've lived my whole life, if a hurricane hits us and my powers go out for days on end and, in turn, my internet, as it did in the most recent ones, I may not be able to be consistently online. I will try and make sure my duties are covered and I will be online as much as possible, but my safety will always be first!<3

Default Re: RiverClan Medicine Cat Apprentice Applications!

clouds creak in the sky
herons creak in the sky.

the dark approaches itself
from all sides once again
the moon lifts
its white and gravelled head
out of the hills.

the river holds ghosts
that have thickened
into salmon.

on its banks
weeds grow into children
far away
from their parent’s door.

an oak tree beside the water
pulls up the shadow of a house
that once stood here
or one still to be built
room after room
up through its roots.

to walk beside the river
the long walk of the body
is a threshing of shadows.

to stand by the river
is to hear words beginning
in the hands
starting as indelible amnesias
being forced up through the hands.

to listen to the music of the river
is to hear a final music
a silk-hedged current
transfixed by a mirror
and a placing of leaves
over the eyes
the age of an evening
over the eyes.

Along the water’s edge, where reeds sway with the breeze and the sun filters softly through the trees, something unusual catches your eye.
Half-buried in the mud and moss, glinting faintly beneath a tangle of roots, lies a glowing shape that doesn’t belong.
As you step closer, paws brushing the wet earth, the serene hush of the forest seems to still.
Whatever this is… it wasn’t meant to be found so easily.

With precise ease, you open it, and engraved on a large slab of stone in big, glowing letters is…

Why Gladepaw? There are many reasons for her to be RiverClan’s next MCA! But of course, we can't give off detailed reasons without the most obvious question: Who is Gladepaw? Gladepaw is a quiet, deeply observant apprentice who rarely speaks unless she feels it's necessary. Born an outsider and raised on the move by a mother who prioritized survival over comfort, Gladepaw's entire early life was built on silence and the instinct to vanish when danger came close. She knows how to listen before speaking, how to read subtle shifts in tone and expression, and how to sit unnoticed in the corner and absorb everything. All qualities that aren’t just useful for a medicine cat, but essential. She is the kind of cat who would never assume she knows everything, who would learn with reverence and curiosity, and who would treat every wound she tended not as a task to check off, but as a promise not to harm. Though she stutters the most when anxious, her voice carries surprising clarity. She speaks softly, but she doesn’t speak small.

Her words are chosen with care, but filled with intent. Gladepaw is not loud. She is not flashy. But she is persistent, thoughtful, and grounded. She is the kind of girl to notice things others miss - not because she's trying to, but because she has had to. Her trauma taught her to be constantly aware of her surroundings: the way a tail flicks when someone is upset, the scent of coming rain, and the tremble in someone’s tone when they say they’re fine but aren’t. That awareness would translate seamlessly into the world of herbs, healing, and intuition. What sets Gladepaw apart from others is that she doesn't seek importance; she seeks usefulness. She doesn’t want attention or praise or power. She wants to help. She wants to belong in a way that feels earned. Her sense of responsibility runs deep to the point that it often becomes self-sacrificing. She’s the kind of apprentice who would overwork herself and never complain about cold paws or long hours if it meant someone else could rest. In many ways, becoming a medicine cat apprentice wouldn’t just give Gladepaw a role. It would give her purpose, something she has subtly craved without fully understanding why.

But she’s not perfect, and that’s important to acknowledge. Gladepaw is hesitant to trust. She startles easily, freezes up in high-stress situations, and struggles with the deeply ingrained instinct to disappear when things go wrong. She’s never seen a birth, a serious illness, or a long-term recovery. She’s never had the structure of a family, the confidence of support, or the foundation of deep mentorship. But the medicine den could be the very place where those things begin. It could be the space that softens her sharpest edges - not by changing who she is, but by giving her room to become who she could be. Gladepaw doesn’t need the role to fix her. She’s not broken. But the path of a healer would align with who she already is: a witness to the world’s wounds, and she is learning she has the power to mend them.

Now, why would she fit as an MCA? Gladepaw may not be the loudest apprentice. She may not be the one others think of first when they imagine the next cat to take on such an enormous responsibility, and that’s exactly why she fits. Gladepaw is not motivated by pride or attention. She doesn’t crave recognition or the spotlight. She is not trying to impress anyone. Instead, what drives her is her conviction - a need to be useful. A desire to give back to a clan that has given her more than just food and shelter. It gave her a future, and in return, she wants to protect it. Gladepaw’s strengths lie in the subtleties. She listens more than she speaks. She observes more than she interrupts. She has a sensitivity to the unspoken - the way a cat's whiskers twitch before they cry, or when someone's gaze avoids the medicine den when they’re hurting too much to ask for help. These aren’t just passive traits. They are the foundation of a good healer. In a role where empathy is vital and your heart must be as sharp as your claws once were, Gladepaw brings something special. A resilience shaped by experience rather than expectation.

You say Berryshine is looking for someone loyal, gentle-hearted, and dependable. Someone who will not simply echo her, but walk beside her. Someone to learn, grow, and stay. Gladepaw would be that cat. She is the type to ask questions late into the night if she’s unsure, to double-check her sorting even when she’s confident, to remember the scent of an herb even after smelling it only once. She's methodical and patient. She works until the work is done, and not a moment sooner. Not because she's chasing praise, but because her care is genuine. In truth, Gladepaw fits not because she is perfect, but because she isn’t. She falters when speaking in crowds. She flinches when caught off guard. But she doesn’t give up. She doesn’t let fear stop her from moving forward. That’s exactly the kind of strength RiverClan needs - the quiet kind that doesn’t boast but holds strong when it matters most. And more than anything else, Gladepaw believes in healing. Not just the physical kind, but the deeper, slower kind. The kind that takes moons and doesn’t always leave scars visible.

The little girl wouldn’t pretend to know what she hasn’t learned. She’s never ground up marigold or applied cobwebs to a wound. She couldn’t tell you the difference between marigold and yellow bells, or whether you’re supposed to chew poppy seeds or soak them in water. If you asked her which herb was best for infection, she’d probably just blink at you with wide eyes and quietly panic. In truth, she’d feel intimidated by the world of healing - its rules, its expectations, and its potential for failure. And yet, something inside her would pull her toward it. It’s not the herbs that draw her in, or the idea of being important. Truthfully, she wouldn't want this role for glory. She’d want it because it feels right. Because she’d be ready to commit to something bigger than herself, not for what it will give her, but for what she can give in return. And if chosen, she would dedicate every piece of herself to living up to the promise of what a RiverClan medicine cat should be.

STRENGTHS

1. Quietly Observant: Gladepaw has an uncanny ability to pick up on subtle cues. Whether it’s the nervous flick of a tail, the forced brightness in a cat’s voice, or the way someone avoids eye contact, she notices things others miss. This makes her highly attuned to both physical and emotional pain, allowing her to step in and offer care often before it’s even requested. Her observational nature also translates into strong attention to detail, which is vital when handling herbs, monitoring symptoms, or assessing injuries.

2. Naturally Empathetic: She doesn’t just understand pain; she feels it. Gladepaw’s empathy is not performative or shallow. She doesn’t offer hollow reassurances. Instead, she sits in the silence with those who need her. She gives them space, but also presence. She knows that not all wounds need words to heal. Her ability to connect deeply and authentically makes her a source of quiet comfort to those around her, especially in moments of vulnerability.

3. Steadfast and Committed: Once Gladepaw has made up her mind, she is persistent. She may hesitate before taking a leap, but once she does, she is fully invested. She is not the type to give up halfway through something simply because it’s hard or unrewarding. Whether it’s staying up late to care for a sick cat or memorizing herb combinations until they’re second nature, she shows up again and again. Her reliability isn’t loud. It’s simply there, consistent and constant.

4. Emotionally Mature: Despite her age of being six moons old, Gladepaw possesses a surprising level of emotional maturity. She doesn’t lash out in anger or make decisions based on fleeting emotions. Instead, she processes internally and approaches situations with caution and care. In tense or emotionally-charged moments, she can be the calm presence others look to, even if she doesn’t realize it. Her introspective nature allows her to grow from her experiences, and her sensitivity often allows her to mediate conflict with a delicate touch.

5. Long-Term Thinker: Gladepaw doesn’t just consider immediate fixes. She asks questions like “What happens after the wound heals?” or “How do I help this cat trust again?” She’s patient enough to pursue healing in its slowest, most enduring forms. This makes her an ideal partner for Berryshine, who seeks a helping paw and someone with a genuine heart, insight, and an eye for the bigger picture.

WEAKNESSES

1. Timid in High-Pressure Situations: Gladepaw can freeze up in high-stakes scenarios, especially when all eyes are on her. If a cat is brought into the medicine den with a serious, time-sensitive injury, she may falter. Not because she doesn’t know what to do, but because she second-guesses herself. Her lack of confidence in fast-paced or urgent situations could initially put others at risk if she doesn’t learn to trust her instincts. This is something that may eventually be learned to pull through as time progresses and training ensures.

2. Soft-Spoken to a Fault: While her quietness is often a strength, it also means she struggles to assert herself when necessary. She finds it difficult to speak up in large groups or stand her ground when challenged by stronger personalities. In a role that occasionally demands difficult conversations, like denying a warrior’s request or correcting a clan-mate, this could lead to her being overlooked or dismissed until she grows into her voice.

3. Emotionally Absorptive: Her empathy, while it can be powerful, can easily become a burden. Gladepaw tends to absorb the emotions of others like a sponge, and she hasn’t yet learned how to set boundaries. She’ll carry others’ grief like it’s her own. This leads to emotional burnout and exhaustion, especially if she’s not given the space to recover after especially taxing healing sessions or traumatic events. If left unaddressed, it could wear her down over time.

4. Reluctant to Delegate: She has a hard time asking for help. Gladepaw is so concerned with doing things “right” and “well enough” that she tends to shoulder more than she should. She might take on too much responsibility too quickly, especially in her desire to prove herself. This could result in her becoming overwhelmed, especially during times of illness outbreaks or after large battles.

5. Haunted by Self-Doubt: Gladepaw holds herself to impossibly high standards, and any mistake - even a small one - can cause her to spiral inward. She internalizes failure and tends to view even minor missteps as proof that she’s not good enough. While she is incredibly hard on herself, she hides it well. This quiet burden, if not addressed through future growth as time progresses, could slowly chip away at her spirit and make her grow burnt out quite quickly.

“I-I d-don't k-k-know much about… herbs or p-poultices or, um… what t-t-to do when s-someone’s hurt. B-but I-I know w-w-what pain feels l-like. I know w-what it d-does to you, when you feel like… like n-no one sees it. Like y-you h-have t-t-to carry it all alone. I… I think healing’s not j-just what you do with your p-p-paws - it’s… it’s h-how you sit w-with someone; even when y-you don’t h-h-have the words. E-even when y-you’re scared, too. That’s w-what I’d wanna g-g-give.”
1. Why do you want to become a medicine cat apprentice?
“W-w-wanting’s a b-big word, I think… I-I d-don’t know if it’s s-something I w-want the w-way other cats want things. I-it’s not like, um… like dreaming of b-being strong or g-getting to f-fight in battles. I d-don’t w-want to s-stand out or l-lead or be the b-best at anything. I-I just… I-I want to help. Even just… a little. I-I know I d-don’t know any h-herbs, or the right w-ways to s-say things when someone’s h-hurting. I mess up a l-lot when I talk, and I-I get scared s-so easily. But I’ve s-sat next to pain b-before. I’ve w-watched cats pretend they’re okay when they’re n-not. I-I’ve seen grief when it’s q-quiet, not loud. I-I think sometimes that’s when it h-hurts the most when no one n-notices. B-being a medicine cat… it’s n-not just about p-poultices or s-stopping bleeding. I-I think it’s about s-staying. S-staying when it’s scary. Sitting next to s-someone when they think n-no one else w-would. I-I wanna b-be that kind of cat. I don’t n-need to be p-perfect. I just… w-want to be there. M-maybe that’s not a g-good reason. M-maybe it’s not enough. B-but i-it’s what I have. A-and if I could ever l-learn the rest… I’d t-try. I’d t-try so h-hard. B-because I know w-what it f-feels like to hurt alone. A-and I wouldn’t want a-anyone else to feel that way… if I c-could help it.”

2. What does being a medicine cat mean to you?
“I-it’s n-not just about knowing what p-plant to use or h-how to treat an injury. I-it’s about… t-trust, c-care, and s-sacrifice. A medicine cat c-carries s-secrets, grief, and r-relief all in one p-paw. They’re th-the cat others turn t-to when everything else h-hurts. A-and that’s s-such a b-big responsibility. I-it’s about h-holding space for pain. And h-hope. I think… being a m-medicine cat means choosing to s-serve, even when you’re t-tired. Even when y-you’re scared. It means p-putting the clan before yourself. Not for praise, b-but because you can’t look away when someone n-needs you. It’s n-not something you choose f-for power. It’s something you c-choose because your heart c-can’t not choose it.”

3. What do you appreciate most about this job?
“I-I think… it’s the moments no one s-sees. The way a cat b-breathes easier when you s-sit beside them. Or how… how a frown softens when someone finally f-feels seen. I don’t have much… experience yet. I d-don’t know herbs, or… or how t-to make a paste. But I d-do know what it means to be in p-pain and still want someone to care. W-what I appreciate is the trust. That a cat would let you close enough to h-heal them. T-that’s… that’s not small. It’s a gift. And the idea of b-being trusted like that? Of helping someone s-stand again when they’re tired or hurting? I think th-that’s really special. I’d be honored just to t-try.”

4. What would you do if a cat refused your help?
“I-I’d… b-be gentle. I w-wouldn’t force it. S-Sometimes, pain m-makes you want to hide. I-I get that. S-So I’d just… l-let them know I’m there. M-Maybe bring fresh moss. S-Sit nearby. N-Not talk, unless they wanted me to. J-Just… let them know they d-don’t have to be alone. A-And if it was something r-really serious, I’d g-get Berryshine or s-someone they trust. B-Because e-even if they d-don’t want me, t-they still d-deserve help.”

5. Do you believe you could stay calm during an emergency?
“I-I think… I’d be scared. P-Probably really scared. M-My paws might shake. I m-might not know what to do right away. B-But I’d breathe. I-I’d listen. I-I’d remember what Berryshine taught me. I-I might not be the fastest or the loudest, b-but I’d be there. I-I’d keep trying, even if I messed up a little. I-I think calm doesn’t always look… c-calm. S-Sometimes it’s just s-staying, even when everything’s loud inside. A-And I c-can do that. I-I think I c-can.”

6. How would you handle the pressure of being responsible for others’ lives?
“I-I don’t think I’d h-handle it by myself. I’d talk to B-Berryshine. I’d ask questions. I’d l-learn from my mistakes, even the hard ones. And I’d remember w-why I’m doing it. Not for praise. Not for p-perfection. But b-because lives matter. B-because every scratch, sickness, a-and cat who walks into the den… they’re more than j-just a problem to fix. They’re a life. A-and if I ever made a mistake, I’d… I’d feel it deeply. I’d cry. But I’d g-g-get back up. I’d try a-again. Because they d-deserve that. B-being responsible is scary… b-but I think it’s also a privilege, a-and I’d do my best to honor it. E-even if it means being scared sometimes.”

7. What do you think of the current RiverClan high ranks?
“I-I think they’re strong a-and smart. They c-carry so m-much on their s-s-shoulders, a-and I… I admire that. Owlstar seems s-serious, but c-caring. I-I think she wants what’s b-best for the c-c-clan, even if it’s hard. Sunheart… he’s s-strong, too. I-I don’t know him well, but he s-seems like he’d protect anyone if he h-had to. And B-Berryshine… I think s-s-she’s really gentle. I-I feel like she notices things others don’t. I-I hope I can l-learn f-from all of them. Even if I’m q-q-quiet, I’m watching.”

8. What do you think is the most important quality in a medicine cat?
“Kindness. B-because y-y-you c-can’t teach that. Y-you can learn h-herbs, rules, dreams, and p-prayers… but k-kindness is what makes you s-someone cat’s trust. I-It’s what helps them h-heal in ways you c-can’t see. I think a medicine cat w-who’s kind, even when they’re tired or s-s-scared… th-they can do more than a-any herb could.”

[please note this is not real in the slightest & is just for the point of this application!]

m̵͕͘e̴͎͝s̴̪̈s̵̲̽a̷̞͠ǧ̸͜e̴̬͆ ̶̼̍ȏ̴̘n̶̢͂e̸̙̍ ̵͕͝-̶͚͊ ̵̆͜l̶̠̾è̴̢f̷̬̄ṭ̴͐ ̷͚͝a̶̧͋t̷̨͘ ̵̼̅5̶̱̍:̷͉͛3̵̗͆1̸̜̓ ̴̒͜ḁ̴͋m̵̘͐

I d-don’t really know why I’m thinking all this right now. Maybe it’s just… b-because everything feels too loud again. Not the kind of loud you can h-hear, but the kind that presses behind your eyes and curls around your ribs until breathing feels like something you have to remember to do. The kind of loud that turns every glance into a question and every silence into a punishment. The others… th-they all seem to walk like they belong here. Like their paws know the path and their shadows don’t drag. I try to be like that. I-I do. But sometimes I feel like I was made from… leftovers. Like StarClan poured the last bits of everything quiet and scared and soft into me, and forgot to give me the part that’s brave.

I think that’s why I keep looking at the medicine den. Not to sneak around or anything, I swear. I just… there’s something about the way it smells. Like dried herbs and damp moss and… something old and kind. Something ancient, even if I don’t understand it. I always thought medicine cats must be fearless. Untouchable, e-even. But lately, I’ve started to wonder if maybe they’re just really, really good at staying. Even when everything’s broken. Even when they are. And I keep thinking… what if I could be like that? N-not the part where they know everything, but the part where they stay.

I don’t know anything about healing. I really, really don’t. I’d probably mess up so much. What if someone trusted me and I made it worse? What if they got sicker, or d-died? The thought makes my stomach feel heavy and cold. I think… I think that’s what scares me the most. Hurting someone on accident. Not being enough. But at the same time… I remember how it felt when I was the one hurting. And no one noticed. Or maybe they did, but they didn’t know what to do. So they looked away.

I remember lying curled in my nest one night, after… after something I d-don’t really want to talk about. My chest was aching and my ears were ringing, and I thought, if someone came to sit beside me right now - even if they didn’t say anything - I think I could survive this. But no one did. N-not that it’s their fault. I was quiet. I am quiet. And maybe it’s selfish, but I never want anyone to feel like that. Like they’re in so much pain they might fall apart, and no one even sees them. So… maybe that’s why. Not because I think I’d be good at it. Not because I want to be special. But because I know what pain feels like when it’s silent. And if I can keep even one cat from feeling like that - if I can stay, even when I’m scared - then maybe that means something.

Even if I’m just Gladepaw. Even if I never learn all the herbs or get chosen or become anything at all. Maybe just caring is enough to begin with.

m̸͇̀ě̵͓s̵͓̃ṡ̸͙a̴͜͠g̶̦̀é̴̪ ̶̡͝t̵̨͝w̴͕̄o̴͖͂ ̴̖́-̶̗̇ ̵̥̀l̶̤͠ȅ̸̯ḟ̶͓ẗ̵͎́ ̷̣̈́a̵͚̎ṱ̶̊ ̶͕̾7̸̢̐:̷̼̂5̴͓̐7̷͍́ ̸̣͑ả̶͕ḿ̵̧

Berryshine chose me.

I don’t really know how to put that in my head. I keep saying it, again and again, in this whispery sort of way, like if I say it too loud the stars will hear me and realize they made a mistake. Or that maybe Berryshine herself will blink, shake her head, and remember that she meant to name someone else. Someone braver. Someone stronger. Someone who doesn’t flinch when the wind howls too loud or panic when too many eyes turn her way. But she didn’t take it back. She looked at me and said my name like it meant something. Like I meant something. And I remember everything about that moment. The way her fur was damp at the edges from the morning dew, the way the sun had only just started to rise so the world still felt half-asleep, like it wasn’t quite real yet. Like we were standing in a dream.

And maybe I still am. There were others who could’ve been picked. Cats who speak clearer, who walk with their heads high, who don’t trip over their own paws or shrink in on themselves when someone raises their voice. I watched them when I was younger, all shining and sharp like the river stones in greenleaf... and then there’s me. All dull edges and trembling limbs and too many thoughts I can’t get out in time.

So why me? I didn’t even ask. I wanted to - stars, I wanted to - but my throat locked up and all I could do was nod. I hope that was enough. I hope she knows I’ll try. Because I will. Even if I don’t know how. Even if I’m terrified. Even if I mess up. I think that’s what scares me the most. Not the blood or the pain or the strange words I’ll have to learn, but the idea of failing. Of some cat coming to me, hurt or crying or begging for help, and I freeze. Or I say the wrong thing. Or I don’t know the right thing. What if I get them killed? What if I do everything right and they still die?

There’s so much weight and trust in this. I don’t know what Berryshine saw in me, but I feel like she reached into my chest and pulled out the one subtle ember I’ve been keeping hidden and held it up to the light. Like she saw the part of me I didn’t think mattered. The part that wants to help. That wants to be steady when everything else falls apart. The part that stayed awake at night wondering if kindness could be enough, even if your voice shakes.

I’m still scared. I won’t lie about that. I don’t think the fear ever really goes away; not when the stakes are lives. Not when you’re carrying pieces of other cats’ pain in your paws like something sacred and fragile and burning all at once. But maybe… maybe being afraid means I understand the weight of it. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

Berryshine chose me.

And I think… I think I want to believe that she was right. I don’t know if I’ll be a great medicine cat. I don’t know if I’ll be good, even. But I want to be. I want to learn. I want to listen. And if I can sit beside someone who’s hurting - just sit, even if I don’t have the right words - maybe that’s where healing starts. Maybe I can be the cat I needed once.

Maybe I already am.

Down here is a collection of Gladepaw reviews that I have received. Unfortunately, given that she is a new character, there won’t be many. These will be both pre-existing and currently existing for the application.

[rubberRatroom] - “Okay, wow, there's a lot to say.
First off, Gladepaw is a beautifully written character - even just reading the descriptions illy wrote for her was impeccable. I have never enjoyed reading a character's information more. Not to mention how iliri writes them? It's a wonderful mix between jumpy and careful that makes Gladepaw's character so much more real. Their emotions are so well written that I can vividly imagine the characters actions and thoughts. Second off, Gladepaw's story is very intricate and I love the details and everything about it!! Honestly, I love everything about this character. All of iliri's characters are very unique and very expressive with their different personalities - but Gladepaw is definitely my favorite. And the way iliri writes their anxiety? Beautiful!! There's something so interesting about where they're heading and I'm excited to see what is to come for this apprentice!”

Hi there! I’m Iliri, though most members around the site call me Illy or something else, whichever feels most natural. I’ll be honest: writing about myself in this way is a little uncomfortable. I’ve always been the type to pour into characters more easily than I do myself. But I also care a lot about what I bring to the table, and I believe in being transparent. So, consider this my best attempt at that balance. To start, I’d describe myself as someone deeply passionate about character development and storytelling. I love exploring emotional nuance and narratives; those subtle moments of growth or introspection that make a character feel truly real. In that way, I’m very character-driven, and I tend to pour a lot of thought and emotion into how a character evolves over time, especially in response to their relationships or environment. I work hard to keep consistency, realism, and pacing intact in my writing, but I also thrive on collaborative energy. I love bouncing ideas off others and weaving storylines that feel meaningful to everyone involved. I don’t need the spotlight, I just want to build something that leaves a mark.

As far as personality goes, I lean toward the ENFJ-T type: empathetic, introspective, organized, and deeply values-driven. I’m just over the line into extroversion, meaning I enjoy connecting with others, but I also need space to reflect and recalibrate. I'm very feelings-oriented - I care deeply about how others are doing, whether it is in-character or out-of-character - and I tend to be very thoughtful (sometimes maybe too thoughtful) when it comes to both decision-making and interpersonal dynamics. I do like structure and clarity in planning, but I try to stay open-minded and flexible. I can be a perfectionist, sure, and I overthink more than I probably should, but that usually just means I care… a lot. I’m the sort of person who finds joy in nuance. I don’t really gravitate toward extremes or absolutes; I find both people and characters most interesting in the grey space between. That probably says a lot about how I write, too. I like to take my time with details, emotions, and the way characters carry their baggage.

I just finished high school a couple of weeks ago, and my graduation isn't until later in June, so I have plenty of spare time at the moment - time I’ve been gladly spending writing, role-playing, and connecting with members I’ve grown to become friends with. Outside of writing, I love worldbuilding, character playlists, developing symbolism and themes, and making lore that strengthens the emotional weight of a story (a good example could be my MLP AU that I have been working on ever since 2024). I’ve been writing and role-playing on WCO for nearly 5 years now, and while my style and voice have grown a lot over time, one thing has remained the same: I care deeply about the stories I tell and the people I write with. I value kindness, mutual respect, and clarity. I’m not perfect, but I try my best to be aware of my flaws and lead with intention.

As for high rank experience, I role-played Spring (or, in case you are confused, Springlight) for a total of a full year and two or three months from medicine cat apprentice to full medicine cat. It was a position I took seriously, and one that taught me a lot about balance, initiative, and long-term consistency. During my time role-playing with Spring, I worked hard to remain both proactive and reliable. Not only when it came to in-character responsibilities, but also when collaborating with the other ThunderClan high ranks at the time. I helped plan and organize several medical-related events [as shown here, here and here], and worked alongside the rest of the team to make sure our ideas aligned and that everything ran smoothly. Beyond events, I kept up with medicine den replies regularly - sometimes daily - and tried to be as responsive and thorough as I could be when it came to healing role-plays. I knew how important consistency was in the role, so I did my best to maintain it even when real life got busy. I also kept up with patrols, posting and updating them when it was my rotation. When Spring was still an apprentice, I was very organized with her training tracker. I kept detailed notes on what she’d learned, what she still needed to cover, and how her development was unfolding in a personal document that I unfortunately do not have anymore. If Gladepaw is elected, I will do the same for her and plan how to set it up with you.

I really enjoyed being part of that system and tried to embody what it meant to be dependable, cooperative, and involved. That experience taught me a lot about structure, responsibility, and what it means to support a clan from both a character and a writer's perspective. Now, in terms of post length, quality, and speed, I take a balanced approach. As one would probably expect, the longer the post, the longer it will take to get finished. I tend to get easily distracted sometimes (the attention span of a carrot is no exaggeration), but as long as I give myself breaks every so often, I’m usually good to go. My average post length is around two to three to six paragraphs, depending on how much I’m diving into character thoughts and the depth of the scene. If the situation is more dramatic or detailed, I might stretch it to three to eight paragraphs. If I’m in a particularly rushed or inspired mood, posts can go even longer - sometimes up to nine paragraphs or more! For medicine den role-plays specifically, I’d estimate that my posts usually end up being around four paragraphs long, give or take. They’re a little longer for scenes that are more intense or require extra attention to detail, and if things are more straightforward, I may settle for a bit less. But I do my best to match the tone of each situation, as I feel it’s crucial to reflect the moment with the proper pacing and emotional depth.

When it comes to more important or emotional role-plays, I prefer to take the extra time to give them more weight just to make sure the actions, words, and feelings of the characters come across with accuracy and care. I also place a high value on consistency. It’s not just about replying quickly, but about being present, engaged, and willing to contribute meaningfully to any ongoing plots. I’m not someone to rush or push out filler just to meet a word count. Instead, I aim to provide posts that are thoughtful, reflective, and true to the character and scene at hand.

STRENGTHS

1. Highly Committed: Once I take on a responsibility, I give it my all. This is especially true in group settings where consistency and reliability are essential. I believe that trust is earned through action and not just words, and I strive to be someone others can count on, both in and out of character. I did this before, I can do it again.

2. Strong Communication: I value clear and open communication. I’m proactive about keeping everyone in the loop, whether it’s coordinating a plot, discussing potential ideas, or simply offering feedback. I’m a big believer in the importance of collaboration, and I’m always open to hearing others’ ideas and sharing my own.

3. Detail-Oriented and Organized: I love structure and organization, and I find it helps me keep things running smoothly. From managing my character’s progression to maintaining detailed planning docs and trackers, I’m able to juggle multiple responsibilities without letting things slip through the cracks. I also ensure that important tasks or details are followed through, whether that’s keeping up with post requirements or updating important documents.

4. Empathetic and Team-Oriented: Being deeply connected to my characters and those around me allows me to empathize with the feelings and motivations of others, both in and out of character. I strive to be supportive and considerate in role-play. Whether it’s encouraging collaboration or supporting ideas others provide, I always try to help create a space where others feel heard and valued.

WEAKNESSES

1. Limited Memory: I’ll admit, I don’t have the greatest memory when it comes to remembering past conversations or specific details over long periods of time. This is something I’ve worked on and am actively improving, using tools like notes, reminders, and trackers to stay organized and on top of things. While this isn’t a huge issue, I do acknowledge that it can sometimes cause me to ask for clarification on events or details. I’m continually striving to improve in this area, and I’m always open to feedback to keep things on track.

2. Discord Availability: While I do have Discord, I’m not always the most active there. I may not be available at all hours to reply instantly, but I make sure to check in regularly and stay engaged with the high ranks and lionhearts. Communication is a priority for me, so I’m committed to making sure important messages are answered in a timely manner, even if it means taking a bit longer to respond than others might prefer. I always strive to maintain open lines of communication, but I do ask for understanding in case there’s ever a delay in my responses.

3. Hurricane Season: I live in Florida, which means hurricane season can occasionally disrupt my availability. While it’s not a regular issue, there are times when weather events, power outages, or general preparedness might limit my access to the internet for a short period of time. I’ll make sure to keep you all informed in advance if I foresee a potential issue and will always make sure my duties are covered, but I wanted to mention this as a potential obstacle for any planning around these times.

I fully understand the importance of maintaining high activity and consistent involvement in a role like a medicine cat apprentice. This is not a position I would take lightly, and I’m fully prepared to dedicate myself to being an active, engaged member of the RiverClan high rank team for the long haul just as I have before with ThunderClan. I am committed to being reliable, consistent, and present for both the clan and the community as a whole. Role-playing and being part of a collaborative experience has always been a passion of mine, and I don’t intend to fade out of the picture once things get difficult or when real life gets busy. I recognize the weight of this responsibility and, should any extenuating circumstances arise, I would communicate my situation ahead of time and make the necessary arrangements to ensure that RiverClan isn’t left hanging. Whether it’s posting regularly, engaging in ongoing plots, or participating in group discussions, I’ll be here consistently.

In terms of communication, I’m already familiar with the necessity of keeping lines of dialogue open. I mentioned earlier fhaf I have Discord (berdamatics), and I’m comfortable using it for real-time discussions, idea-sharing, and making sure everything stays organized and flowing smoothly. While I’m always available for constructive feedback or suggestions, I do recognize the importance of responding promptly to VMs, and DMs. I’m committed to staying involved both on WCO and off, and will prioritize communication to make sure I’m keeping up with everything happening in RiverClan, especially in relation to plots or events that require immediate input. Communication is key, and I will do my best to be an active, present member of the Lionheart and High Rank server; providing feedback, participating in brainstorming, and being part of the real-time conversations that help keep the clan moving forward.

As for character expectations, I know firsthand how demanding high ranks can be, especially when balancing OOC responsibilities with IC duties. I approach this with the maturity, patience, and calm required to handle the complexities that come with a position of responsibility. While I am empathetic and driven by strong moral values, I also understand the importance of keeping my emotions in check and maintaining level-headedness in tense situations. I pride myself on being someone who is able to take a step back, think before reacting, and engage with others in a respectful and constructive manner. Being a high rank, especially in a clan like RiverClan, comes with challenges that test my ability to be patient and mature, but I am prepared to face them, ask for help when needed, and collaborate with you all.

When it comes to organization, I am a naturally detail-oriented person who thrives in structured environments. As demonstrated with Spring’s old mca training tracker, I love keeping things neat, consistent, and up to date. This will be a key asset as I work with the medicine den, managing herb stocks in the storage, keeping up with healing forms, and staying on top of Gladepaw’s training progress. I’m already familiar with using the storage tool from before, and I’m excited to implement these skills to keep RiverClan’s medical system efficient and running smoothly. Whether it’s coordinating patrols, updating the herb stores, or tracking the progress of healing roleplays, I’m ready to commit the time and energy necessary to ensure everything stays well-organized and up to date.

Time management is something I take seriously. I am fully aware of the time commitment needed for an HR role and the IC duties that come with it. Between healing role-plays, patrols, and ongoing role-plays, I know that being an active high rank means dedicating several hours a week to staying involved. Thankfully, I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule at the moment since I am no longer in school, so I can devote the necessary time to fulfill the role. I also recognize that this is a long-term commitment and that’s something I’m ready to make. I’m not someone who shies away from dedication or commitment, and I intend to stay engaged with RiverClan throughout the long-term, continuing to provide value and support to the clan.

Finally, on the subject of dedication, I can assure you that this is not just another role for me. RiverClan has faced its struggles, and I deeply respect the your guys’ resilience so far with helping it regain its stability. I want to help maintain that strength and contribute to the long-term success of this clan, just as I have before with ThunderClan. Gladepaw’s journey is important to me, and while I may have a hard time predicting what will happen in the future, I know I am committed to staying present for whatever challenges come our way. I’m fully aware that characters can face IC consequences for the choices they make, and I understand the significance of these decisions. I’m in this for the long haul, and I will not fizzle out or drop off the map without serious communication.

RiverClan has faced its challenges with maintaining stable high ranks, and I can understand how that creates a sense of instability within the clan. As someone who values commitment and long-term involvement, I’m dedicated to changing that and providing the consistency and reliability that RiverClan truly deserves. I believe that longevity and trust are key in high rank positions, and I am fully committed to sticking with the role for as long as needed, as I understand the vital impact a stable medicine cat apprentice can have on the clan’s wellbeing. My dedication to high ranks goes beyond the short-term; I’m here for the long haul, and I am prepared to stay involved consistently. The trust that the clan places in its high ranks is something I don’t take lightly, and I am fully committed to upholding that trust and seeing Gladepaw’s journey through to the end. With Gladepaw, I am invested in not just my own growth, but the growth of RiverClan as a whole.

Gladepaw may be an apprentice now, but her hypothetical path toward becoming a medicine cat isn’t just about her development. It’s about how she will support the clan’s wellbeing and healing. She’s not someone who craves attention, but rather someone who quietly observes, learns, and steps in when needed. Her empathetic nature allows her to see beyond the surface, connecting with others on a deeper level. In times of stress or uncertainty, this will be an asset for RiverClan. She’s someone who knows what it feels like to carry uncommunicative burdens, and that makes her a compassionate individual, even if it’s not immediately obvious. She might not be the loudest or the most outspoken, but she will always be there when someone needs her, whether for physical healing or emotional support. I see Gladepaw's potential as a stabilizing force, not just as someone who heals wounds, but as someone who nurtures the clan through quiet, yet powerful acts of care and empathy.

One of the things I love about writing Gladepaw is that she doesn’t seek glory or recognition. She doesn’t need to be in the spotlight. What she craves is the opportunity to be useful and serve the clan in a way that’s meaningful to her. I think this is crucial for a high rank, especially in a time when RiverClan needs consistency and someone they can rely on. Gladepaw might not always have the answers immediately, but she will always strive to learn, be better, and support the clan. She will work quietly, behind the scenes, and let her actions speak for themselves. I believe this is a characteristic that will make her a dependable cat in the clan, something that’s been lacking in recent high ranks.

That will be all from me, I hope I’ve been able to convey my genuine commitment to both RiverClan and the role of medicine cat apprentice. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through my application, and good luck to everyone else!
