Fallenspirit's gut twisted. The shadow... was it just there? No, no, it made him feel sick. It's eyes lingered on him every single time he had that dream. Every fur on his pelt prickling as two glowing eyes bore at him from a smoky shadow. This wasn't just an image.

"It's a presence.." he mewed quietly. "It has to be,". The tom turned his head up to look at the medicine cat, an icy glare of confusion and helplessness, hiding raw fury. "I can feel it boring into my soul, every, single, time I dream of it," he growled lowly. The tom closed his eyes and that was all he could see. He could almost smell the smoke. The eyes glimmering at him, tearing into him. His eyes shot open, a snarl escaping his maw. He must've looked crazy, snarling at nothing.

"Something happened. That fire wasn't an accident like I thought," the tom mewed coldly. "There's no way it could've been. My parents-
his voice broke. That cruel, choking spider of despair was climbing his throat again. He wouldn't break again. The fury burning in his stomach came up in an instant, incinerating the pitiful sadness climbing his throat. "They would've made it out, they wouldn't have just stayed there," he snarled, his eyes alight with fury.

"Firesong,"

A voice echoed in his head. Not the familiar sweetness of his mother... stonier, colder, but still warm with love.

"Dad.." the tom whispered.

He looked at Spiderpaw, then Berryshine, the fury dying from his eyes. "Something is wrong with me..." he croaked. Not physically. Mentally. The tom was tormented between anger, sadness, and the rare flickering moments of joy.

Spiderpaw listened closely to Berryshine's line of questioning. She was very curious where it was going. Those stars had felt present, and it seemed that Fallenspirit's shadow had been very present in his dreams when he finally replied.

It took all of Spiderpaw's willpower not to flinch away from the snarling warrior. She did, however, give him some space. She wasn't sure if her contact had caused fury to rise up, but she also was slowly growing accustomed to this violent back and forth between emotions that he had. The apprentice just... didn't know how to fix it. She struggled with not being able to help him when he seemed to need it so much.

When his voice broke, she tried again. This time, just a light brush of her tail against his, despite the previously ignored comfort, while her eyes went to Berryshine. She just... She wasn't sure what to do. How to help someone in this situation. He was in a lot of pain that she didn't know how to fix. She didn't even know how to fix her own anxiety, most of the time. She didn't want to leave him, though.

｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ firepaw bounced right in, wincing from his pain but trying his best to just ignore it, he can remember the times he came in here as a kit, thorn in the paw, bonked his nose, almost drowned- so many things that firepaw's roleplayer knows never happened but its best to have the apprentice seen as the type to get hurt no matter what "BERRYSHINNNNEEEE" he yowled at the top of his lungs, of course he did- "Rocks- in my fur, hurts- need to go back and trainnn-" he plopped down and reached for his back, shards of rocks sticking in, his teeth snagged one but pushed it deeper- much to his upsetness, he winced with an "ow" and stopped. "I wanna go and train some more...its just a little stupid rock- I rolled- I mean- I didn't mean it but I'm fine, I just cant reach it- why does it smell like herbs in here- wait nevermind I know- how are you berryshine? it must be boring to sort herbs all day...I wonder if owlstar likes herbs- does she?" he took a deep breath and continued to say some very...well...empty. ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆

Star nodded, soaking in all of the knowledge. It was fascinating to say the least, and her blue eyes widened with each word. "I'm sure they are pretty! Pretty like you." Nightkit exclaimed, shuffling her paws as the bandage was fully set. And yes, yes it was exciting! "Yes, I hope so too! Thats the plan." Beaming, the inky black she-kit twitched her fluffy tail and stood up, trying to NOT limp. "Alright. Thank you Berryshine. Bye!" Nightkit hummed, licked the Medic's cheek, and padded softly out of the den.

Starrypaw poked her head in the medicine den, craning her neck inside to scan the darkness and find the healer. "Uhm... Berryshine? It's me, Starrypaw..." She found her pretty quickly, and entered slowly. "I was told to come here.." She murmured, without specifying what the issue was. Her eye was bleeding lightly, but the gash seemed deep. She couldn't see from her left eye. What would it happen to her now? Would they punish her?

If she could sweat, she would. Instead, she started feeling hot and kept her mouth open to breathe more easily. Her mind raced everywhere, replaying the whole situation in her head over and over again, seeing the claws that tore her face apart... what did she even look like? She wanted, she NEEDED a puddle of water.

Before Berryshine could come to her, she run over the little collection of water that healer used to give water the patients, but she couldn't see anything. She had one eye covered in blood, and there wasn't enough light to have a good view.

Pathetically, she turned to the medicine cat, and tears swelled up and mixed with the tiny rivulet of blood.

“He very much did it on purpose!” Poppypaw blurted before bending her head to lap up the poppy seed and the leaf. “He knew what he was doing!”

The mackerel calico listened to the medicine cat and nodded. “I’ll try.”

The walk back felt longer than it should've. The edges of her vision only got darker and darker as she padded on, practically putting all her weight on Stagheart. She should really apologize for that later, but that was a thought that merely bumbled in the back of her mind. At the moment, she was truthfully only focused on staying awake, straining her eye to follow sunlight, scared of looking at shadow for too long in fear of passing out.

She felt terribly sleepy, but chocking on her own blood would be such a pitiful death. She decided to focus on that mainly, how her clan would grit their teeth and shake their heads in confusion hearing how what killed her wasn't the otters themselves, but rather the crimson that pulsed in her veins.

"Th- otters..." she remembered mumbling, but maybe she mouthed it. One eye wide as calloused paws staggered, she walked into camp. She couldn't remember if anycat ran into her or questioned her state, she was only focusing on what was in front of her.

Once her paws hit moss, her pelt suddenly felt gravely uncomfortable. She laid down and rested her head on her paws, blood drizzling from her mouth. Her tongue itched to lick down the blood from her gums, but she didn't want to mess up whatever magic Berryshine had worked. So, she sat still, the tip of her tail twitching as if to silently indicate she was still alive. Groggily, begging for a nap, but alive.
