The kitten noticed someone bumping against him. Antlerkit tilts back to the other kitten, his warm smile however still visible. Kind of weird by the fact that Frostkit couldn’t use his eyes. He still greets him with a soft “Howdy!” and nudges her forehead with his snout. “Antlakit’s my name.” He mewed. “N’ ya? What’s ya name?”

Shadeflower purred a small smile, tucking his tail around his paws and bending down so he could better take a look at the little cats. Something about them just looked so awfully adorable. "Hello! Um... lemme think... Shinekit, was it?" and the other cats coming over as well. It was the spirit of the event, he supposed, although he wasn't actually sure what they were supposed to be doing, as the event coordinator didn't give them any additional instructions. Talk? He could do that, yes. He loved to talk, right?

But he turned back toward @Lichenkit, although he didn't know the kit's name yet. Seemed awfully quiet for a little one, at least... probably in front of strangers. It made sense, and a lot of kits were as reserved as he usually was in front of cats they didn't know very well. He tilted his head to one side. "It's okay if you're nervous. You don't have to talk if you don't want to."

Gladepaw flinched slightly as Seapaw approached, her gaze flickering up from the ground to meet his eyes. The sudden shift in focus made her throat tighten again, her heart picking up pace. She had been trying to blend in with the crowd, but now someone was speaking directly to her. Her mouth went dry, the words she’d rehearsed in her mind slipping away like water weaving through her paws. She blinked a few times, paws fidgeting nervously in the sand, before her amber eyes finally landed on Seapaw. His cheerful demeanor was enough to soften the sharp edge of her nervousness, and she felt the tiniest bit of relief in the way he spoke. He wasn’t looking at her with pity or judgment, but with kindness. That made all the difference. “Y-yeah, I-I’m Gladepaw,” she murmured, her voice quiet but steady as she forced herself to look him in the eye. “I… remember y-you. We did the h-h-hunting competition together.” Her tail-tip twitched behind her, betraying her unease, but she tried to push past it. Talking to him was better than standing here feeling like she was suffocating in her own thoughts. “I-I… um, I’m not g-good at the whole... s-socializing thing,” she confessed, her ears flattening slightly in embarrassment. She could feel the heat creeping up her neck, but she kept talking. “I-I’m just trying to get b-better at it. I don’t usually know what t-to say, or how to s-s-start a conversation.”

She glanced at him quickly, her breath catching as she felt the words spilling out. “B-but I w-wanted to try... today. So... um... h-how are y-you?” She wasn’t sure if her question sounded awkward or forced, but she meant it. Even if it was a simple question, it was a way to reach out. A way to make herself take that step. Her whiskers twitched slightly, and for a moment, she allowed herself to give the tom-cat a tiny, cautious smile. It wasn’t much, but it was something. At least, she was talking and trying.

Lichenkit blinked as Shadeflower offered some comforting words. They had spaced out for a moment, did they miss something? "I'm fine." The words came out instinctually. They were feeling fine today. She offered a smile, as if to help prove the point. Tuning back into the conversation, she continued, "Being an apprentice and warrior is busy, isn't it? And I'm sure you can find something you like to do, Shinekit!"

They smiled, happy that Gladepaw remembered them (haha, take that Primroseadder! RiverClan's relations do last!) He was actually a little shocked by his own internal reaction to Primroseadder's sentiment. They weren't really used to feeling like this about anything any more... Was it angry? Was that the feeling? Yes, it made them a little bit angry, actually. Though, they didn't like to shout or get upset in that way - angry cats were scary, and he never wanted to be scary. He supposed it was the way it was kind of an insult, to his friends, to all the lovely cats of RiverClan. Like Midnightpaw, Spiderpaw, Starrypaw, Beaverpaw, even his sister Salamanderpaw. Their friendships lasted, even if they didn't see each other for a while. So why would she say that? UGH why was he so stuck on it? He needed to focus on his conversation with Gladepaw.

He brought himself back into reality, focusing on the present moment as Gladepaw explained that she wasn't good at socialising. Hmmm, really? Seapaw had met quiet cats before, like Spiderpaw, and he'd just assumed Gladepaw was the same. They'd never considered that a cat might not like being quiet, that they might actually struggle with socialisation. "That's okay! You seem perfectly nice to me." He smiled. "I'm okay!" He yawned, "I don't like that Primroseadder thinks friendships here don't last... But maybe that's a warrior thing?" He shrugged. To be fair, he was happy to have a reason to make new friends, so he couldn't really hold it against Primroseadder. "Beside the point though, how are you?" They chirped.
