Sunpaw and Primroseadder training!

Sunpaw walked up to where Primeroseadder was waiting for her next to the camp entrance. She looked shyly at the warrior. She was excited inside but didn't show it. She wondered where Nightstrike was today, because he didn't have to teach her.

“Hiya, Sunpaw,” Primroseadder purred a greeting, her emerald eyes bright. “Are you ready for your tour of the territory? Keep in mind that since Owlstar has closed Sedgewater Valley, I can’t take you out to the WindClan Border, so you’ll only get to see ShadowClan’s and ThunderClan’s.”

That's ok. When she noticed Primroseadder purring, she relaxed. By this first impression she likes Primroseadder. Her own pelt start to rise in excitement. Sunpaw nodded, her eyes noticeable brighter Yeah I'm ready Primroseadder. She tried to make her voice sound bright and strong, but it faltered a little bit. I'll have to work on that!

With a nod to the apprentice, Primroseadder led the way out into the territory. She didn’t speak until they stopped a few fox-lengths away from one of the two borders that she would be showing Sunpaw.

“This is Saltmeadow Marsh, RiverClan’s border with ShadowClan,” Primroseadder meowed, her feathery tail swaying behind her. The only reason she had stopped so far back was to ensure Sunpaw’s safety. “Take in a big whiff of their scent; I want you to memorize the scents of the other Clans that way you can recognize them on future border patrols. After that, tell me what types of prey you think ShadowClan eats.”

Sunpaw smelled the air coming from over the border. It smelled discusting! I think they eat swampy animals like frogs? Maybe some weird tasting squirrels. Sunpaw meowed, seeming unsure.

“Frogs would be correct, yes,” Primroseadder nodded her approval. “Squirrels, too, if they can manage to catch them; those little things may be fat, but they’re fast, too!” She purred, her amusement showing in the twitching of her whiskers.

“Saltmeadow Marsh is the safest border at the moment, which is why I decided to show it to you first,” The warrior meowed, leading the way to the ThunderClan border. “Smallpines isn’t always safe nowadays. Larkwing got injured crossing the border to fetch Salamanderpaw, who had accidentally crossed. She’s fine now, of course. But promise me one thing, Sunpaw. Never cross the borders unless given explicit orders to do so, which I doubt would happen.”

She nodded to the scent line. “This is Smallpines, our border with ThunderClan. Take in their scent and tell me what types of prey that they may eat.”

I won't! Sunpaw meowed, meaning it. She opened her mouth to taste the air. I think they eat squirrels, mice, and birds! Sunpaw looked expectantly at her fill in mentor, hoping she was right.

“You would be exactly right, from what I’ve scented on border patrols,” Primroseadder purred, her tail swaying behind her. “They have a musty, earthy scent to them. They still stink, but its better than ShadowClan scent, to say the least.”

She padded away from the border, heading deeper into RiverClan territory. “The next place I’m going to show you might sadden ya a little,” Primroseadder meowed softly. “I’m taking ya to Seagrass Fields, RiverClan’s burial grounds.”

That's sad. All of my clanmates bodies buried underground. Hopefully most of them went to Starclan!She walked close to Primroseadder, brushing her fur against her fill-in mentor. She opened her mouth and pricked her ears more. Sunpaw's blue eyes darted from left to right. She didn't like talking about dead cats. They were scary.

Primroseadder said nothing as the two arrived at the fields where their Clanmates were buried. Her emerald eyes strayed to the fresh mound of dirt that Stormstar’s body lay beneath, a fresh wave of grief for the previous leader sharpening its claws and sinking them into her heart.

“Lets….Lets take a moment of silence for the fallen, all right?” She mewed quietly to Sunpaw.
