Vinesmoke padded out to where Ashpaw was he didnt know where Fleetsmoke had gone but he was going to make the most of it he turned his full attention onto the apprentice he silently wondered how much instruction they had received prior “So you were sent out with the older cats..how much training do you have you do know the basics right?”he asked. He hadn’t meant to be rude with the question he just knew how some mentors sadly neglected their mentorship duties and ran off doing starclan knows what
Oooook. So some of the children didn't seem to have gotten the memo. That was....fine. Strawberrypaw......wait wait WHAT? Strawberrypaw sounded like HER! THAT WAS NOT NORMAL! NOT NORMAL! But Strawberrypaw seemed to think nothing of it. She had just moved on, happily enough, going right on to try out pouncing. It was decent, but she'd need to get a good chunk stronger if she wanted to have a good chance of hunting. Then again, of course she couldn't make it the whole way. She was still a kit age, so there was no reason to expect her to have as strong of a jump as a whole adult, like Deadmoon.
Now Deadmoon had to act normal. And gently encourage the other kiddos to give it a try, because they couldn't be standing here forever. The adults would get tired of having babies all over the clearing at SOME point, and she didn't want to end up on the wrong side of any elders looking to sun themselves. Alright, I want y'all to try pouncing on some real things now! Deadmoon decreed, pulling the mossballs in front of her. Kicking a few of them out into the clearing, she figured they would get some excitement out of trying to hunt them. Do a bit of stalking, a bit of sneaking, and then tuck your hind paws in and pounce on them as best you can. Shred them if you want, I've got plenty more. She was actually kind of tempted to go after them herself, do a bit of kit stuff. But she was responsible and such now, so she would not be doing so. She'd let Heavykit and Strawberrykit take care of that.

HeavyKit squeals as she sees the mossballs. She launches herself at it, pausing before attempting to take the advice given by DeadMoon. After she applies the tips she flips onto her back and begins battering the mossball with her hind legs, ripping it apart.

Ashpaw answered to the warrior’s question slowly, almost expecting for it to be a trick question. “I’ve got a lot of training for hunting,” he said, hoping it wasn’t in a show-off tone.

TheRedWyvern is reading a book in a shadowy corner.
Cloverspring is eating a snack.
Myling is frantically looking around for ice cream.
Splashcloud is talking for no reason...
Foxy is graffiting the wall with poorly-drawn pixel art
Crane is watching She-ra and cheering very loudly when Adora and Catra kiss
RaccoonKit crouched and watched from by the nursery but…she didn’t go over. What if someone stole her stuff in the meantime? It seemed…empty anyways. She couldn’t risk there being more of a thief than her, after all! She did watch the techniques carefully though.

Hehe! Okay, okay. Time to STALK! She began to creep along, one paw after the other. It got a little easier as she went, but she was still wobbling around the place. Now to pounce. 1... 2... 3! [rolled:12]
Shrikekit cascaded through the air, landing a very lopsided pounce with only one paw on the moss. Good enough! She sprung forward, grabbing the moss in her jaw before throwing it in the air to celebrate her sucess!

Papa's former-mentor-also-mother was telling Strawberrypaw to stalk a mossball. Which, looking at it sideways - literally, Strawberrypaw had tilted her head for the sole purpose of the saying - was rather. . . humiliating? Was that the word? Oh well. If Deadmoon wanted to teach like this, Strawberrypaw wouldn't stop her. Brow furrowed, the kit-aged apprentice set off to comply, slinking after the green-gray lump sitting not far off. Ah, the sacrifice she was making to teach her siblings later.
A flash of movement on the edge of the clearing caught Deadmoon's eye, and she whipped her head about in time to see Racoonkit. She wasn't entirely sure what the kiddo was up to, but she was in attendance. Not participating, just watching. One of Twilightstar's, wasn't she? Deadmoon didn't really know, there were too many of them to keep real track of. Also she was lazy. Heavykit seemingly had no such trepidation, launching herself at the mossball with abandon. It was cute, if a bit violent. The subsequent destruction of the mossball was unnecessary, but Deadmoon couldn't really fault her. She had asked a lot of the kids attention spans. Decent pounce Heavykit, but try and be a bit....stealthier next time. Squealing and running tend to let prey know you're coming. Ok so she was being a bit sarcastic. Sue her.
Shrikekit was much more competent on the sneaking front, but had a bit of trouble aiming. That was fair enough, and could be corrected with practice. At least she got the principle. Shrikekit, you'll just need to work on directing your landing. That should come with practice. Deadmoon mewed. And Strawberrypaw....she was still sneaking around, ready to pounce. That was fine, paces and all that. Pausing for a moment to allow her......Strawberrypaw to finish her stalking, Deadmoon shook her fur out. She was definitely going to regret playing mouse, but the kiddos might have fun with it at least.
Now that all of you've had a chance to go after a stationary something, you're going to 'hunt' something a bit more mobile. Me! Ugh, she could feel their little nibbly bites just saying the words. You're going to close your eyes, and I'm going to scuttle away like the little mouse I am and hide somewhere. Then your job is to sniff me out, sneak up on me, and pounce. Alright? She didn't really care for their confirmation, this was more of a prompt to get them to close their eyes than anything else. Once all of the little peepers were closed, Deadmoon took off. Well, not really took off. More like wandered as quietly as she could, squeezing behind the nursery. She didn't dare enter any of the dens, so slipping behind one was as good as it was going to get. It was good enough. Tucking her tail tight behind her she ensured she wasn't visible from the clearing, before calling Start hunting! Her voice might give them some clue as to her location, but they were always going to find her eventually anyway.

HeavyKit pouts. More quiet? This wasn't real prey, this was a mossball!
As DeadMoon explains the new game, she closes her eyes as instructed, her hind legs wiggling excitedly. As soon as the warrior calls that she's ready she drops into a clumsy hunting crouch, making sure to be quiet as she hunts the 'mouse'. She keeps her tail just barely off the ground, sniffing the ground.
She momentarily gets distracted by the sent of a real mouse and starts heading towards the prey pile before her head pops up and she retraces her steps, shaking her fluff out before watching where the others go, following them instead.
Ashpaw answered to the warrior’s question slowly, almost expecting for it to be a trick question. “I’ve got a lot of training for hunting,” he said, hoping it wasn’t in a show-off tone.

Vinesmoke took a deep breath, shaking off the jittery feeling that clung to him. He focused on Ashpaw, steadying his voice. "Alright, first things first. You need to stay low to the ground. Keep your body close to the earth, so the wind doesn’t carry your scent to your prey. Use your belly, not just your paws. Move in short, quiet steps."
He glanced at Ashpaw, making sure he was paying attention. "Now, listen for the sounds around you. You’ll hear the rustling of leaves, the movement of prey. Focus on that sound—it’ll tell you where to move next. But don’t just chase after it. You need patience. Let the prey come to you." Vinesmoke paused, then nodded toward the underbrush. "Keep your eyes sharp. A flicker of movement or a shift in the shadows can tell you everything. When you see the right moment, that's when you strike." His eyes hardened, as if sharpening his own focus. "The most important thing is timing. If you rush, you’ll miss your chance. Wait for it."
