Loonfeather watched as the bird flew off, but since it had just heard something instead of seeing them both, the alarm call wasn’t as loud. It was shorter, meaning there were still likely other things in the area.

“That was a good first try,” he said. “Do you want to keep going and see if we can find anything else?”

He nodded and led the young black cat deeper into the territory. It was overcast from what he could tell through the trees, making a chilly day worse. They had been lucky it was just warm enough for the frog to be out. Now they just needed to hope they could find some other sort of amphibian or another bird.

Soon they came upon another couple of birds. They were just far enough apart for the two of them to go after one each. Sliding into a crouch, he whispered, “We’ll both start toward them on the count of three. One, two, three!” With that he slunk forward until he was within pouncing distance, and the moment he saw Snarlpaw leap he did the same. The bird tried to get into the air but it wasn’t quick enough, and Loonfeather silenced it quickly with a bite to the neck.

Snarlpaw lunged forward on '2' and had to act fast. The bird nearly escaped, but he caught it by the wing and dragged it down, killing it

The scarred tom seemed to get more and more agitated as the kit tried to squirm from his grip. With low growl the tom dropped the kit. "could you quite your squirming?" he asked with narrowed eyes. "Why do you a kit want to join Shadowclan most cats would rather run to another clan so why's it so important to join Shadowclan?" The tom questioned harshly. His curiosity had pushed him to try and force the kit to explain to him, her reasoning.

“I like the pines, I hate fish, I hate the moor, and my mom was going to take me here before she got killed!” The kit whaled. “I may never be able to join shadowclan, but I’ll find somewhere, and then you and DawnStar will have wished to have me in your clan.” The kit glared at the tom even if she knew it wasn’t threatening to him.

Loonfeather grinned. “At this rate you’re going to be one of the best hunters in the Clan,” he meowed. “I think that’s enough for today though. It’s going to be a bit difficult to carry this and the frog back as it is.”

He picked up his bird and signaled for Snarlpaw to follow. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too much for the apprentice to carry. He traced their steps back to the frog and dug it up, awkwardly managing to fit it and the bird in his mouth. Loonfeather wouldn’t be talking anymore with his mouth so full. Still, the Clan would be happy to get this prey. Leafbare always meant that the fresh-kill pile was low, so two birds and a frog was a good addition. Silently he started back towards camp, though the way his tail stood up with a curl at the end showed just how proud he was of Snarlpaw.

Snarlpaw liked how proud Loonfeather was of him. He always wanted cats to be proud of him. He took the frog from Loonfeather to help the tom carry the prey

Gingercry smiled at the tom asking his name and nodded, "That's me alright. What do you say we get this thing started?" The fluffy orange tom stood and walked out of camp, leading the way through the pine trees. He didn't stop to check for prey but kept his maw slightly parted to bring in all the scents. The pine was strong and tangy, the chill on the air had its own essence, the litter crunched softly under his paws. But frustratingly, the only prey scent he could pick up was stale. He turned his head over his shoulder but kept walking, "This may be the first time I'm hoping I'm just getting old. Are you smelling anything?"

The large Somali tom wandered outside of the camp and placed one paw over the other slowly, looking down and watching, letting his icy-amber eyes watch as they showed and then disappeared under his fluffed neck, replaced by the other. He hoped no one was around or, StarClan forbid, in front of him. He would've been beyond embarrassed if he bumped into someone. He'd have to apologize, as much as he hated the idea of doing so.

Pineclaw flicked his tail in greeting before falling the older warrior out to the territory. The entire trek, the tabby warrior didn't pick up anything, nothing new at least. A small sigh escaped his chest before Gingercry's voice broke his train of thought. His mouth parted a little more to reveal. . . nothing! "Nope, I can't pick anything up either, everything's hiding or dead," he spoke solemnly. "Perhaps we venture close to WindClan's border? Things might be coming out of their burrows over there," he suggested. Obviously Gingercry was in charge, so he let the older warrior decide.
