She shook her head, "No, that's too long. I can't stay in thks alley and box forever." she insisted. She finished off her mouse and pushed away the remains. She got up and winced as another kick hit the inside of her belly.

Strike took one last bite of his mouse. "If you say so," he mewed. "C'mon, we should get going now." He started off at a semi-slow pace, not wanting to go too fast for Jill. @Christmassy Peril

The she-cat followed suit and soon caught up. She was now walking beside him. She felt a small pang but kept walking, hiding it so Strike didn't stop them from going further. They were almost to the forest and she smiled eagerly as they approached.

Finally, the fresh scent of the forest started to find its way to him. The smelly streets of the two-legged creatures' home started to fade a bit, leaving room for the aroma of life. Strike picked up his pace a small bit, ready to get to the forest, but not wanting to go too fast for Jill. He took a deep breath and a small bit of a smile started to show. @Christmassy Peril

She picked up her pace and stayed beside Strike. She smelled the air and was surprised when it smelled so clean. Not housefolk cleaning stuff clean, but fresh. She smiled more and laughed, it was so amazing. She smelled the air and realized that she couldn't smell any cat-scents close, they should be able to find a territory for her soon. She hid a waver in her smile as she felt another kick.

Strike laughed, too. This was probably Jill's first taste of the forest and true freedom. "I'm guessing you like it?" he said as they approached the tree line. @Christmassy Peril

The she-cat sighed contentedly and nodded, "Yes, yes! It's so clean here!" she looked around as they reached the treeline and she gasped in surprise at all the plants. She recognized a few and pointed them out. As they got deeper into the forest she began hearing the sounds of small creatures scufling around in the undergrowth. She started searching for something that could be expanded into a den or was an abandoned den.

Strike watched Jill with amusement as she pointed out plants and her other reactions. He'd been like that his first time in the forest, too. He noticed her looking around, and knew what she needed. He spotted a tree nearby that was partially uprooted, leaving a small hollow underneath. It looked protected from rain and snow, because not much of the cold, white snow was in it. "Would that work?" he asked, gesturing to it with his tail. @Christmassy Peril

She looked at the tree and gasped excitedly. She rushed to it and quickly wriggled down the opening. "It's perfect! We need to dig out the sides a bit though." Sh3 frowned looking at the walls. They were only a little too small, but bigger would be better when you were expecting kits.

Strike followed her in. The excitement she was giving off was contagious. He smiled and nodded, then immediately started digging. The dirt got stuck between his claws, but it was fine. Jill and her kits would definitely need a larger den. @Christmassy Peril
