Gladepaw long-furred, scarred, dark brown classic tabby with amber eyes

The tabby’s chest tightened again at Stormwish’s words. It wasn’t the kind of tightness that made her want to withdraw or hide - it was different. It was a smaller ache, leaving her throat feeling too thick and her heart too full. She wasn’t sure how to respond to that or express the warmth that bubbled up from the depths of her chest at hearing Stormwish say she was good company. The simple phrase you’re excellent company felt like it had the weight of a hundred unspoken words behind it, and Gladepaw wasn’t sure if she was ready for that consequence, or if she ever would be. The queen’s words lingered in Gladepaw’s mind, turning over and over like a small stone in her chest. She wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or uncomfortable. It wasn’t something she had ever been told before, not in the way Stormwish said it. She wasn’t sure how to accept it. Was she really the sort of cat others wanted to be around? Was she really that good of company? Her paws fidgeted, claws scratching at the coarse earth beneath her as she thought it over. The sensation of warmth in her chest slowly spread, but it made her feel vulnerable. Vulnerable in a way she rarely allowed herself to be. She glanced up at Stormwish again, finding herself unsure of what to say. She wasn’t used to this kind of gentleness. Her mind flicked briefly to all the times she had tried to disappear into the shadows where no one would notice her.
Had she always wanted this, and never realized it? Her breath caught in her throat, a soft, nervous laugh almost escaping her lips. Her amber gaze flickered briefly to the kits, still nestled together under the care of Stormwish. Something fluttered in her chest again, a feeling she couldn’t quite place. It made her want to stay, but it also made her want to run. It was an unfamiliar warmth, and Gladepaw wasn’t sure if she was ready for it. Maybe she didn’t deserve it. Could she belong to something like this? Her heart raced with the questions, and as if the weight of them were too much, Gladepaw shook her head slightly, trying to clear the thoughts from her mind. She wasn’t sure what she was feeling anymore, and the confusion made her feel like she was sinking. She took a breath to steady herself, feeling the sting of her own uncertainty, but Stormwish’s words hung in the air like a contract she wasn’t sure how to accept. “I... I’m s-sorry, I-I didn’t mean t-to... I... th-thank you.” Her quiet voice trembled slightly as she struggled to hold her composure. “I-I just... I d-don’t know what to s-say to that.” She looked away, her gaze dropping to the ground as if the earth could ground her in this moment. The simple warmth of Stormwish’s words made her feel more fragile than she was used to. But that fragility wasn’t so scary anymore. Maybe it was okay to feel it, even if it left her heart racing and her mind a little off balance.
Gladepaw stood slowly, her legs a bit stiff from sitting for too long. She shifted her weight, feeling the discomfort of her own hesitation tugging at her as she glanced back at Stormwish. "I-I think... I should g-g-go now. I j-just need a m-moment t-to think." She couldn't help that her voice remained soft, but it was the best she could manage. She had never been good at handling these kinds of feelings, but she needed some space to process it. What did it mean, to be wanted like that? She slowly made her way toward the entrance of the nursery, her paws dragging slightly through the dirt, as though each step was heftier than the last. But as she reached the entryway and paused, her heart caught in her chest for a moment, the poundage of Stormwish’s words still lingering in her mind. For a second, she turned back, her amber eyes meeting Stormwish’s once more. “Th-thank you... for saying that.” The words were quieter, less of a stammer and more of a simple, sincere gratitude. “I-I hope... y-you don’t mind if I c-come back soon.” Without waiting for an answer, Gladepaw took a deep breath and stepped out into the clearing, her paws moving of their own accord. The soft breeze ruffled her fur, but it did little to cool the warmth still spreading through her chest. It wasn’t discomforting, but it left her feeling uncertain. She didn’t know how long she would need to process everything. But one thing was clear: she wasn’t sure if she wanted to leave that warmth behind.

BlueBerry padded back into camp with a soft snort of amusement, a small bundle of leaves and moss dangling from her jaws. She’d only gone as far as maybe three fox-lengths outside camo to breathe a little fresh air, get some bedding—five heartbeats to herself—but apparently that was long enough for chaos to bloom. Again. She paused in the entrance, blinking at the scene playing out in front of her.
There was SunHeart, looking like StarClan themselves had been prancing around and speaking to him. And then there was Antlerkit, trotting in a proud little circle around him, tail high, chanting a very familiar word over and over again—love.
Oh no.
BlueBerry’s ears flicked upward in alarm before slowly pressing flat in tired resignation. The queen sighed through her nose, setting the moss and leaves down with a defeated expression and stepped up near the pair. “AntlerKit,” she mewed lightly, voice carrying both humor and warning. “What in StarClan’s name did you do to the deputy this time?”
Her bronze eyes flicked toward SunHeart, catching his very warm, very flustered expression, and she narrowed her eyes slightly in suspicion, through she couldn’t deny the warmth that flared in her chest upon being near the golden tom. “And you—what have you been teaching my kit?”
She didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, she padded over, flicking Antlerkit gently with her tail before sitting beside them both with a low purr. “Antlalove, huh?” Her tone was teasing, but her eyes shone with something warm and unreadable as she looked between the two. “That’s quite the name. Very… passionate. I hope your warrior ceremony doesn’t involve quite so much singing.”
BlueBerry leaned over to nuzzle AntlerKit’s head, voice quieter now. “I love you too, you little menace.” Then, almost too casually, she looked to SunHeart. “So. Love, huh?” She arched a brow, tail curling around her paws. “Anything else ya taught my son while I was gone for five whole minutes that you’d like to explain?”

Momentarily covering his face with crossed paws as Antlerkit mimicked his awkward tone, the bengal couldn't help but chuckle. He watched as the young time circled him aimlessly, singing the word before stating his choice of warrior name. "Antlerlove?" The deputy repeated, an amused twinkle in his eyes. "I think that's a wonderful name." He said with an approving nod.
'I love Sunny,' Pale green eyes widening, the tom looked at Antlerkit with both a surprised yet pleased gaze. His heart swelled. He loved all the kits as well, as if they were his own. "And we love you too, kid." He purred happily.
Love. Hm...Sunheart knows what love is, he guesses. Obviously, he loves his clan. He loves his friends and all of his siblings (adopted or not), but...had he ever really felt what being in love felt like?
Sure, of course he's had crushes before as a young, dumb apprentice, but he was too awkward at the time to ever do anything about it. Plus, not like he could have until they were warriors anyways. He supposes he does get that weird flip in his stomach whenever he sees...
"Blueberry!"
The deputy spluttered before scrambling back to his paws, bonking his head on the nursery entrance in the process. "N-nothing bad! I swear it!" He mewed quickly, coughing slightly to cover his embarrassment. "I just told him that mates are cats who love each other more than just friends." Was that an acceptable answer? It wasn't a lie, but he did not want to see Blueberry's claws swipe at his muzzle for being dumb. "W-where, uh, where were you?"

The lilac kitten’s head gradually peeks out of Sunheart’s blockage as his mother enters the nursery with plants and moss dangling from her mouth’s grip. “Ma’! Yer’ here!” Antlerkit squeaks while taking a few steps closer to Blueberry. “Ya must know everythin’ I’ve told ta Sunny! N’ he also teach’d me a few stuff like LOVE!” He looks back at the deputy, only to see his embarrassed expression. Weird. Why are they going crazy over that kind of topic?
His bronze gaze trails after his mother as she looks back to the Bengal tom, as if she faintly scolds at the deputy over teaching Antlerkit about something that he isn’t supposed to be taught with. It kind of looked like they both swapped roles in an instant. Guess he shouldn’t interrupt for now. “Antlalove, Antlaloove…” He repeats the name several times, swaying around and singing in a fairly quieter tone.

Sagekit sat within the Nursery wondering what he could do today. He first thought about playing with the other kits of the clan, but he quickly realised that he did not know any other kits yet. He sat, weighing his options for a moment: Sagekit was always thinking about what would be best to do, no matter if it took him a day or two.
Finally, he got up on his tiny paws and decided to ask the next person he would meet to play with him, though he probably would get another idea on the way.

CrowPaw padded carefully across the clearing, the soft bundle of moss clutched in her jaws. It smelled fresh—gathered from a shaded patch where it stayed springy and cool—and she’d taken the time to fluff it up with her claws, pulling out the twigs and brittle bits. She didn’t want to mess this up. When she reached the nursery, she paused just outside, shifting her paws uncertainly before giving a quiet ahem and peeking through the entrance.
“H-hi…” she mewed gently, voice muffled at first by the moss. She set it down just inside the den, her tail tip flicking nervously behind her. “I— I brought some fresh bedding. F-for anyone who needs it… or wants it. Um. I c-can go get more too. If there's not enough.” Her eyes darted from one queen to the next, never quite holding for long, but there was a soft hopefulness in her tone. She didn’t want to interrupt anything, or be a bother, she just wanted to help.
“I’ll, um, just leave it here… okay? Un-unless any-anyone want me t-to change…their bed-bedding for th-them?…” She gave a small dip of her head and took a step back, ready to scurry off if she was in the way, but lingered just long enough in case someone spoke to her.

Re: RiverClan Nursery
Cloudkit of RiverClan
2 moons
[Deaf]
Cloudkit looks around. So many kits and queens to play with, but she was little and only had two front paws. She wasn't really sure how to get attention. All the other cats did this weird movement with their mouths and others copied, but every time she tried nothing came of it. Cloudkit just had to rely on her tried and true method of walking up to someone and pawing at them. But who?
DOG'KIT
4 moons | male " I am not your pet, I never liked you, I don't care about you, I wont wait for you. I BITE. "
The late afternoon sun's warmth made the small lanky black kit growl in annoyance. If it wasn't his dead beat dad giving him problems then it was always something else. Lately the clan alone had begun to get on his nerves with their high and tight beliefs and their rules. Well he had something to say about the rules, Bite me. Shifting slightly in his newly cleaned nest that smelled like well..dirt and water. He couldn't give a fox dung about anything as long as he was trained. Ohhh boy did ember'night have an ear full ready when he returned from where ever he was.
Finally unable to take much more of just sitting around on his hind end he quickly rolled over and got up. With a quiet yawn he was good as new except as he looked down there was a slight problem..a..bug was crawling on his paw. To be more specific it was a dainty green water beetle, harmless but dog'kit hated beetles. With a unhappy yowl he flung the beetle across the nursery.
Daydreaming in the corner of the nursery is something most cats would say is... Well, creepy. But how is sitting in your favorite place when you were a kit considered creepy? For him, it brings back memories of how life was before his father killed his mother. Everything was... Peaceful. At least for him, it was. He hadn't known how often his parents argued - the hate his father had held for him ever since he was born with his strange blue fur.
Drawn out of his reverie by a tiny green thing landing on his nose, his fluffy tail puffs out and he takes a few steps back as he stares at the bright green water beetle on his nose. He wiggles his nose almost comically. He doesn't wanna kill the poor thing - it isn't Mr.Beetle's fault he landed on Deepsea's nose. Wrong place, wrong time, stupid. He thinks to himself before he shakes his head and the dainty beetle flutters away. He looks around and shoots the kit a look of confusion.
Is the kit mad at me? Does it think I am a creep? Does it want me to leave? A look of horror crosses his face before he hides it. OH GREAT STARCLAN IT IS COMING CLOSER! His eyes dart back and forth before he lets himself calm down. He loves kits, but the little MONSTERS are terrifying.
DOG'KIT
4 moons | male " I am not your pet, I never liked you, I don't care about you, I wont wait for you. I BITE. "
Oh boy the bug he just flung landed on a warrior who had been creepily sitting in the nursery for a while. What a creep...honestly camping out in the nursery is weird. Slowly dog'kit approached the blue furred warrior with caution written all over his face. Dog was more used to bravely going up to people and things but he had thrown a bugs at this man..A BUG?! oh screw it..squaring his shoulders and throwing caution to the wind he sprang over in a few unsteady bounds. What are you doing lurking around in the nursery huh? Ain't you a warrior? man up and go do your work!! Even my dad does more than this.. The mention of his dad made his fur fluff out in anger. THAT DEAD BEAT... just you wait when I sink my teeth into you... He quickly shook his head.
I'm Dog'kit by the way..sorry about the uh..bug. he wasn't happy to be apologizing about a bug to a stranger let alone be speaking to anyone at all. He wanted his peace and quiet back..no body barging into his nest and no more squawking kits. Well he had two more moons left so it couldn't be that bad now could it? Heck he'd sleep outside if it wasn't for the bugs being more..unpleasant out there.
