The apprentice kept her paw in place for a while to hold pressure as Berryshine spoke. She listened closely. The fact that the required pressure varied depending on the injury was difficult to grasp, actually. The idea of having to play with a trial and error skill in the midst of some kind of crisis sounded stressful.

Straight pressure, not angled, and pay attention to the depth of the injury. The blue-grey tabby nodded along as she listened, finally stepping back when Berryshine said the pressure she was apply was good as a base. "Yes, that makes sense... I just wish there was a way to know for sure, no matter what..." She admitted. Things were easier to learn when they were easily measurable. "But I'll just pay really close attention." She told the medicine cat. If this was stressful as an idea to Spiderpaw, she couldn't imagine all the other things that had to do with being a healer.

"But... When I get the bleeding to stop, how do I keep it from starting again while I am trying to apply cobwebs and stuff?" She asked. Cracked scabs told her that injuries could keep bleeding, even after starting to heal, so it didn't feel reasonable to think that the blood flow would just stop because she got it to for a moment. It didn't seem likely to her that she would have a lot of wiggle room to keep blood from continuing to flow, either.

Berryshine nodded thoughtfully to Spiderpaw's question; it was a good one, and showed that she paid attention. It was very true that stopping it once wasn't the end-all; even the slightest irritation could reopen a bit of a wound, or it could simply be too persistent over time.

"T-That's where continually watching over a wound, checking in, a-and redoing the dressings comes in," the medicine cat explained, flicking her tail in thought. "B-Because sometimes, yes, the bleeding continues no matter what, o-or will start up again sometime later. In that case, t-the binding of cobwebs can really help to slow it o-or stem it for a time... often, if cats have s-such serious injuries, I'll keep them in the den overnight and make frequent checks. S-Sometimes I end up having to change a dressing several times, even in a day. B-But it's better to keep it as contained and sanitary a-as you can, even if you end up having to use a lot of supplies."

There had been plenty of times of that instance in the aftermath of the 3v1 battle last greenleaf, and in more recent predator fights. Some of those wounds were very unforgiving — and many stubborn ones like what she described almost certainly left scars.
