The moment Spiderthroat went under, she thought he was dead. Through the pinpricks of vision, the throb in her throat, she thought he was dead, and she thought she was dying.
The bulky tabby unsheathed her claws and raced towards the bank, nearly slipping on the mud. She should go down there. She had a better chance of actually getting back up, if not passing out shortly after.
In a spray of water, Owlstar leapt back, standing to her toes and looking wide eyed over the sprawled out otter and Spiderthroat's scarred frame. Owlstar probably said something, or she tried to, but the blood in her throat was too thick to force words out of.
Since when did that cat learn how to swim? Owlstar shook her head, clearing her thoughts and the bloodied water drenching her pelt.
The leader heaved in and sprang forward, eyes wide and furious. She didn't have to look around to see the grave injury of those around her, she smelt the terror in the air. Her claws aimed for the belly, the satisfaction of spilling guts much needed.
[owlstar rolled a 14! attack successful!]
Warm velvet streams drenched the bank and her upper leg. She couldn't tell the otters blood from her own, let alone Spiderthroat's. She coughed a half laugh half sigh before sitting on her haunches and hanging her head low, peering at the pink intestines before her.
What a calming sight, yeah?
"Y' good?" she slurred, voice hoarse and heavy as if she'd aged lifetimes in the course of a second. Her throat was real screwed up, she knew that much.

She killed it. She finally killed it. The body toppled, Spiderthroat just barely shuffling to the side to avoid the gigaton otter falling his way. Looking around, they were dead. All of them were finally taken care of and exterminated. In response to the good news, the deputy did nothing more than topple to the ground. Limbs askew, the side of his face pressed into the sand.
Finally, he could breathe. With breathing, however, came hurt. And pain. All his old wounds burning, blazing, newer ones no better. His breathing shuttered. Than , he finally processed that RiverClans leader had asked him a question. A while ago. Oh he probably looked like death warmed over. He felt like it truthfully.
In response to the question, Spiderthroat could do nothing more than groan. Sounding like a deflated balloon as he did so. Finally, after a few minutes, he grunted and got back up into a sitting position. “They’re dead, and they didn’t … kill any of my clanmates.” he stated roughly. Deciding to leave the Bumblestar nonsense out. They didnt need to know. “As promised. You can pick any of the three bodies…other than this one”he said, patting the big scarred one. “This ones being brought back for the clan to see and cheer.”
With that, and a long drawn out sigh, he stood up. Taking a wobbled step towards Owlstar, Spiderthroat did something he himself never believed he’d do in all his lifetime. He gave her a curt dip of the head. “The clan is safer because of you and your warriors assistance. I never thought id say this to the fish eaters…but you’re alright.”he snorted.
Without any further drawing anything out. Spiderthroat turned to head back towards camp. One dead otter being slowly dragged. “CMON THUNDERCLAN. Grab one other otter, the rest are for RiverClan. If I see anyone try n pick more than one other otter up im biting your paws off. LETS HEAD HOME.”

Risingstorm let out a relived laugh, the fight was over his wounds burned like hell, but it was over plus he had a new found respect for riverclan, the head hornet grabbed the otter he and his group killed and hauled it up onto his back.Slowly behind the deputy he made his way back to camp.
Hickorysmoke limped after Risingstorm, grasping the otter the head hornet had, helping him drag its dead body back to camp, his ears perked.

He realized only then how startling his appearance must be - haggard really. Not to mention his face was covered in the otter’s blood.
His cut eye had finally slowed in bleeding, and his torn ear seemed to slowing down too. He wasn’t too concerned about the other cuts and slashes on his side and flank, although maybe the otter bite to his hind leg. His paws were also covered in otter blood. Thank the stars Bri can’t see me now… Small blessings.

Injury reports were nothing new, though losing his eye was certainly a new experiencing to him.

Acornfall had given her an opening on the otter.
So, of course, Caveclaw went for it.
[Roll=13]
And it wasn't her best, but she managed to jump on sink her teeth into it's neck, towards the front, and rip off any flesh she could.
It wasn't enough to kill, but there had been some damage.
But afterwards, the otter screeched, going to try to latch onto her with teeth.
She needed to move.
[Roll=1]
She didn't.
Caveclaw moved much too slow.
It bit onto her leg, the already bad one, and started jerking around and tearing at it.
It hurt like absolute hell as it continued this.
She's unsure how damaged it is.
Caveclaw tried to claw at it's eyes to get it to let go.
[ +3 cobweb, +3 dandelion, 3 more moss gathered in last post ]
Firstly was Caveclaw and a ThunderClanner that Berryshine didn't know. She had been collecting a few herbs while the battle had raged on, needing to distract herself instead of being paralyzed in fear. So a few more cobwebs and dandelion on her side, she was ready.
"O-Oh, Caveclaw... the same leg?" Berryshine sighed, looking dismayed. At this rate, the warrior might as well have it lopped off. Okay, not literally; Berry had only done one amputation thus far, and wasn't fond of it. But for now, she'd do what she could to patch the bleeding, and then have the Lionheart stay in the medicine den to take a closer look when they were back home.
Small paws pressed moss against her Clanmate's wounds as she gazed at Acornfall, noting his rough condition as well. Stars, his face looked mangled... and that eye wasn't doing too good, like he said.
It took a minute, but Caveclaw's bleeding stemmed just enough. Carefully, she chewed up some marigold and horsetail into a poultice, spreading it on the open wounds as best as she could. Caveclaw would probably need a better job later, but this would at least protect it from infection and not have her bleeding out before they'd made it back to camp.
"W-We'll handle this leg more later, o-okay...? For now, chew on this to help with the pain," the medic mewed softly, pawing over some dandelion leaves to the Lionheart. She gave her another lookover, still worried, before turning to Acornfall.
She'd be lying to say that ThunderClan's scent didn't still spook her, to some degree; they'd raided RiverClan's camp when Berry was a kit, had stormed in during the 3v1 as well, and then the whole mess with Cob...
But she swallowed against the lump in her throat. In this moment, they were united, fighting against a common enemy — and this could be a good middle ground for the bickering Clans. Berryshine always wanted to be a proponent of peace... this was their chance at good relations. And besides, this warrior didn't seem so bad; he'd helped her Clanmate over, after all, and seemed calm.
Almost... too calm?
So she gave him a respectful nod, almost a bit unnerved by how steady he was despite his eye being on the chopping block. Berryshine cautiously padded over, carrying a bundle of herbs in her jaws, looking him over.
"Y-You might be right... unfortunately, I do not have any celandine, w-which works best for damaged eyes. But horsetail juice can help the swelling once I remove it," Berryshine mewed, pawing over some dandelion leaves to him to chew for pain; he would've heard her instruction to Caveclaw earlier. She seemed a bit nervous for a moment, but focused and determined nonetheless.
The small brown molly spent her time pressing moss to Acornfall's wounds to quell the bleeding, and gingerly so around his eye; she had to remove it, but had to see what she was working with, too. Blood was everywhere...
"...I-I'm sorry, but you are right... I'll have to remove it," the medic meowed sympathetically, looking at the clawed eye socket and the mangled flesh that was left. She grimaced internally; this wouldn't be pleasant. She'd never removed an eye before. Well... most of it was shredded, anyway. There was a first time for everything.
Carefully, Berryshine began to work. She winced and whispered 'sorry' here or there as used a combination of her claws, paws, and one of the dock leaves to press against the marred eye as she tried to remove what was left. It wasn't a pretty process, and she had to quell the nausea in her stomach. Even as a medicine cat who'd seen more than enough blood and wounds in her young lifetime, this was certainly different. And it probably hurt like constant thorns.
When it was done, she let out a shaky breath, finally stepping back. Blood soaked her paws, but Berryshine's gaze was fixed sympathetically on Acornfall's face. He now had cobweb plastered over the side, having dripped some horsetail sap into there to prevent infection and reduce swelling. She paused, making sure her work had proper coverage, before moving onto the rest of his wounds. Her paws shook a bit more now, processing the new procedure she'd just done.
"A-Are... are you alright?" Berry asked gently, giving the ThunderClan warrior a sympathetic glance as she patched up the other bleeding wounds, especially the bite on his hind leg. She'd made sure to put marigold there, knowing the infection would be more likely there. "I did all I could here, but... m-make sure Wolfhawk looks it over once y-you get home." She was genuinely worried for the warrior, and assumed his medicine cat back there could finish the job.
Hickorysmoke groaned, shaking his head as he slowly hauled himself up, woozy from the pounding to his head he had taken. The ombre tom shook his head with a small groan, one of his eyes was foggy, unwilling to open.
The ombre tom shook his head, blood dripping down. He slowly stumbled towards Berryshine. Everything going black. The tom shook his foggy head. "stars- Berryshine-" He winced, his left eye was half open, blood dripping from the scored flesh.

Salamanderpaw stares at Hickorysmoke for the longest time, mismatched eyes glassy. She wants to do something awful to this cat. Yes of course, she wants to say—and then let him run in without her. Let him die. He already looks close to it and nobody needs to heal a dead cat and maybe it'd just be better if there were one less Thunderclan cat in the world. Maybe that was smart. Maybe you should die, whoever-the-heck.
It's a good thing she can't. Can you do that? No. No, she just can't.
"Sorry." Salamanderpaw apologizes for wanting to set him up and see him die. She doesn't care what he might think the apology is for. Then she very deliberately lurches forward, aiming to try and brutishly nudge him back toward Berryshine again. Whether she makes any contact or not this cools some of that lingering aggression, despite the pain that zings from her neck down her leg with the movement and even if she takes much too long trying to find her balance again. That deputy of theirs is wailing again. Kill it. Owlstar can kill—she's a leader, she has to. Owlstar can save herself. Or someone else that isn't either of the two of them can.
Or she'll die. Riverclan loses leaders all the time. They're really, really good at it by now. Salamanderpaw still watches Owlstar's back until she knows for sure that she won't. Maybe Riverclan's really good at the whole loss thing, but she's decidedly relieved that they won't have to get any more practice at it today.
How many others are left? She doesn't want to look. She knows the one is dead and that has to be what matters to her right now. Anything else is just a bad decision waiting to happen. A sick impulse she will not entertain. I'm gonna need you to be my left side. She can't do that. She won't. But she can try her best not to cause him any more real harm (besides trying to bodyslam him towards help).
"You're dying I think. M'not gonna kill you." She mumbles. The other tom, the first one that helped them, calls this one Hickorysmoke. Calls her the apprentice. Ragged and beaten and weary, she still has enough pride to correct the hornet in a reproachful tone: "Salamanderpaw. I'm Salamanderpaw. And you... Hick'rysmoke...I'm not—a kid. Bozo."
Hickorysmoke gets a bloody tongue stuck out at him for that. She'll apologize for briefly entertaining thoughts of sabotage, but not for this. That's about all the sass she's in any state to spit before slouching toward Berryshine, whose day looks to be getting a whole lot harder by the second.
Hickorysmoke grunted and stumbled forward, his head woozy still, due to internal damage. The warrior winced placing a paw on his head. "Damn.. think that throw hit me worse than I expected.." He murmured, but nodded to the apprentice.
"Salamanderpaw. You fight like a hornet." He nodded, padding along towards berryshine, helping the growing weaker apprentice towards the medicine cat. The thunderclan warrior's eye continued to bleed and drip down his maw, staining his paws.
His gaze shifted to Heroneye, looking over gently as he limped over. "You got some moves there. Glad I got the chance ta battle alongside ya." He nodded before limping to Acornfall, checking his clanmates wounds.
"Heh- missing eye buddies eh?" He joked, smirking half-heartedly before nodding in respect to Caveclaw. The ton winced as a pounding headache caused him to collapse on himself. His eyes hurt to move, his muscles spasmed of their own accord.
@nyme // @Fits // @Luna16 // @squidz
Berryshine had just barely recovered from the brutal, intricate procedure she'd just conducted when Salamanderpaw sauntered up, helping support a rather injured ThunderClan warrior. Her eyes widened, seeing the extent of their wounds. Running over, she helped lower Hickorysmoke to the ground, her voice soft as she assessed his wounds.
"O-Oh, my... you aren't doing to well. Just sit down f-for awhile, okay? I'll help you..." Swallowing against the lump in her throat that always came up when ThunderClan filled her nose, the medicine cat pushed through, her paws still stained red from Acornfall's (and the otter's) blood. She was careful to quell the bleeding with moss, eyes darting over Hickorysmoke's bloody and ripped pelt.
Chewing up a poultice, Berryshine spread out her marigold and horsetail as conservatively as she could, knowing her limited supplies. For his damaged eye, she trickled some horsetail sap in there as well, murmuring a soft 'sorry' as she treated the sensitive area. She'd also offer a dandelion leaf to the tom to chew on to quell his pain in the meantime.
Then, she turned to Salamanderpaw, dipping her head in thanks. "A-Are you alright, Salamanderpaw...?" The small medic's paws were pressing moss to her Clanmate's wounds as well. Salamanderpaw was a fierce fighter, and had no doubt that she'd given her all.

So this was it. Their otter had been slain, and most of her group had unceremoniously begun shuffling towards Berryshine. Adrenaline all run out, Heroneye knew she shouldn't be far behind them. Her head had gone back to pounding, and blood still flowed from her scratches. After giving the otter's corpse a final, hard stare, she didn't have the energy to do much else than join the others and wait her turn with a half-hearted attempt at cleaning her wounds.
After treating a few others, Heroneye had come up as well. Berryshine dipped her head in greeting to the warrior, happy to see that she hadn't gotten thrown around nearly as badly as some others. "How are you doing...?" The medic asked gently, pressing moss to her Clanmate's flowing wounds. A careful paste of horsetail and marigold was stretched from Salamanderpaw and used on her as well, protecting her wounds from infection before binding them up with cobweb. She was quiet and focused, though her paws shook here and there, the nerves from the tense battle getting to her.

⤷ [ mumbleflight rolled a 16 to stay upright and not pass out! ] something was quite terribly wrong with mumbleflight's head. it swum, and his vision spotted, colors swirling across his eyesights as he fought valiantly to stay upright and listen to what the fish were saying to him. the riverclanners were fighting well, but mumble had to really focus to figure out what stagheart was saying. the red running over his vision didn't help much with that, and he made a mental note to deal with that (was it blood? oh dear, he hoped not) later. .. tear it open... i'll try 'n hold it down for ya. that should end it... now!.. oh, he was supposed to do something? gosh, okay..
[ mumbleflight rolled a 12 to attack ! ] mumbleflight pulled himself back to the situation at hand and he darted inwards with the only ounce of strength he had left, claws outstretched as he pounced and managed to land on the otter's belly. he ripped into it, claws tearing open its belly finally. but it wasn't dead yet, and as it struggled under stagheart, one of its hind legs managed to toss him away.
[ mumbleflight rolled a 9 to not pass out, uh oh : ( ] something REALLY bad was happening, mumble deduced with his epic skills as he was flung from the otter's flank and into one of thunderclan's DASTARDLY pinetrees. something cracked, loud, and pain erupted from his front right leg. he screamed, loud and grating even to his own ears, and his vision flooded with black and red (all colors the vision should not be, he decided). before he passed out, the pain all too much for him to bear, mumbleflight managed to shout one final time to the fish.

The tom grinned, adrenaline taking the bite off the pain even though he knew it would be a killer later, he wouldn’t have another shot and he was almost happy that he was the one allowed to finally kill the creature. Seabreeze wasted no time after the squirrel’s call, diving forward at the creatures neck as it bled out, teeth latching onto the previous damage and as it squirmed and screamed, he pulled back. Oh Mudsmoke, at last you’re avenged, sorry but you know Seab has always been slower.
The otter writhed, but eventually, it fell still- it’s screaming shrill falling silent, and Seabreeze nearly laughed and maybe he would’ve if it weren’t for the squirrel passing out. The fella wasn’t too much younger then seab but for some reason even though the tom barely knew him, it felt like it. Besides they had time to serve Thunderclan more so perhaps getting him to whoever is healing as swiftly as possible would be best.
Seabreeze dropped the flesh of otter from his maw and made his way over to the squirrel’s body, planning on trying to drag him away from the leftover great but it seemed that the rest of the twin patrols was doing… actually okay. “Stag.. he’s- they- the squirrel’s out, can you help me get him to Berryshine?” It would be shortly that the rest of the pain kick in, if the slurring of his words didn’t already showcase the fact.
Thank StarClan... it'd worked. Stagheart let out a gusty sigh of relief, finally releasing the slippery otter when the darned thing went still. Shakily he got to his paws, taking a moment to catch his breath. Blood dribbled from gashes along his pelt and that initial bite to his leg, but he was standing. He was alright. He'd manage... at least until he got home.
Between ragged breaths, Stagheart met Seabreeze's gaze, giving a nod. Mumbleflight, despite being a squirrel, had fought bravely. Even if he had gotten tossed around like a kit in a storm here or there. Both RiverClanners were also beaten up, not doing too well themselves, but at least were awake to do this.
"Y-Yeah... right. Good work," he grunted, slinking over to nudge Mumbleflight. Out cold. Inhaling deeply and preparing himself, Stagheart did his best to slide his shoulder under the ThunderClanner's body, helping half-carry, half-drag the warrior towards Berryshine.
"H-Hey, Berry." It was a rare moment of the large tabby's voice wavering from his exhaustion. "He's pretty beaten up... could ya look at 'im?" Stagheart could wait, for now. He was fatigued, but still standing. He began to idly tend to his wounds by cleaning them, sinking to his haunches. He kept an eye on Seabreeze as well, hoping his Clanmate was doing alright.

Acornfall raised a brow at Caveclaw teasingly at Berryshine’s “same leg” remark. “Fond of that leg, eh?” He teased with a throaty chuckle. The brown tabby worked on trying to clean his paws from the otter blood while the medic tended to Caveclaw’s leg as best she could. Honestly, he didn’t mind waiting. His expedited healing ability didn’t come with extra pain tolerance. Though at this point, so much of him hurt he wasn’t certain he’d recognize feeling more pain.
Yeah! That’s the ticket! But he started to feel this confidence slip away as Berryshine turned her attention to him. He exhaled a breath when she said she’d have to remove what was left. Figured. Acornfall obediently chewed and swallowed the herb, quickly so he didn’t have to taste it much (eating grass was just weird to him regardless), and sat in a sturdy crouch so Berryshine could work and he could hold still as best as possible. He couldn’t have been prepared for how…disturbing this felt though. Pain sure, but feeling her scraping out his eye socket and not seeing it was…bizarre to say the least.
Everytime she apologized, Acornfall only waved his tail weakly to let her know it was fine. Well…it hurt and all. But he knew she was doing her best. He unsheathed his claws to dig them into the ground for support, doing his best to control the instinct to jerk away as he gritted his teeth against the pain. When she was finally finished, he let his wobbly legs give out to lay down. “Y-Yeah…fine.” He mewed with a soft, breathy laugh. A short one though, laughing hurt. “Just feel a bit…off center here…” Acornfall usually had a strong stomach, but even he felt nauseous after all of that. “S’okay if I rest my legs a bit before headin’ back?” Though even as he spoke, he knew he’d be keeping the rest short.
The tabby tom was eager to return home to his kits and mate.
Maybe it was childish, but Owlstar was a bit disappointed she wasn't able to haul away that scarred otter herself. It looked haughty, worthy enough to have its head showcased on a pike, but Owlstar didn't protest, merely nodded, trying desperately to meet the eyes of a cat she couldn't really see.
Owlstar, nauseous from swallowing back down her own insides, listened rather groggily to the deputy. Oh. Maybe it was noticable in her expression, maybe not, but the leader was surprised. Given their track record with Thunderclan, she'd expected much much less from them, as they likely did for her clan as well. The tabby blinked, maybe even grinned (her jaw did not appreciate that gesture).
She hobbled away from Spiderthroat without another word. It hurt to talk, in all truth. How was she supposed to yowl at meetings if she couldn't speak? Hopefully nothing had been terribly shredded, but her throat was closing up with the abundance of hurt. Finally giving up on trying to keep her blood inside her, gosh it was spilling out anyways, she spat out the metallic taste, wading in the dark lines of her limited vision.
She scanned the cats gathered amongst her, flocking to Berryshine for assistance as she squinted tirelessly. She counted off her cats... Irisfrost wasn't there. Did she even show up? An odd sound strangled from her, a sound she didn't recognize. Oh. Right. Her growl was quickly cut short with the sharp knives it drove into her senses. Owlstar was in the mood to kill. Irisfrost would hear it for her, oh stars she would hear it.
Blinking back rage, Owlstar wiggled over to Berryshine, offering the brown molly a torn smile. Owlstar didn't mind being mangled, but when it came to whether or not she lived, stars, she minded it pretty harshly. "Hey... Squirt." her words were thick, almost sleepy. She didn't say anything else, it hurt to. But she'd wait. As long as her legs could carry her, she'd wait until she was tended too.
[To add INSULT to INJURY] - Misaligned jaw (chipped teeth, spliced gums, internal bleeding)
- Clawed eye/face (bad/lame eye spliced/torn in half. Scar stretches across lame eye to the base of her left ear)
- Torn throat (a chunk of her fur and flesh is missing near where her vocal cords would be, large gash)
- Internal bleeding (yes, again. From otter tail, blood running from her forehead around where her tuft of fur/hair would be. broken skin)
- Scared flank (near the base of her tail and between her legs)
Hickorysmoke is forgiven, in the end, for calling her a kid—but only because he has the good sense to throw in a compliment for her. Even ifshe has to bite back another prideful retort about how not a hornet, you idiot, never a hornet—keep your fake-y lionhearts to yourself, THAT'S what I fight like! Salamanderpaw feels bad for wanting to bite his head off over something as small as that, and it's a bizarre thing to feel. Sorry. For a Thunderclanner. For her nasty temper.
She's glad when they leave. Less glad that she realizes she still didn't get the familiar cream-and-tabby one's name, and that feels far more important now than it did before.
There'll be time. She shuts her eyes. That peculiar distance, the gap, is closing little by little. Pain refuses to be ignored. The buzzing in her skull is giving way to a tired, yawning emptiness. Berryshine is saying something.
"Hwha. Uh?" She mumbles, eyes back open now. There's moss on her. Yellow in her wounds. The worst of it will have been the minor skin avulsion on the side of her neck. Not so nasty as it might've been had the otter manage to tear that chunk of skin away completely, but it certainly gave it a good shot. The more adrenaline trickles away, the more Salamanderpaw is forced to realize just how painful it is to turn her head. How what's left of her now-missing ear throbs persistantly. So do tall her various little scrapes and nicks and dings, but now that she's been seen for now, she decides she'll keep her complaints down.
"M'okay I think. Stupid otter...took my dang ear." Okay except for that one. "'N I don't know—th'other cat's name. Thunderclanner with the stripes..."
She's petering off for a yawn which fizzles into a wince. Maybe names don't matter right now. In fact, it's annoying she even cares. Riverclan matters way more.
"But. Never mind. Thank you Berryshine. Glad you're here." Salamanderpaw mumbles, inching out of the way once work has been done on her. It is surely a sentiment they all share, have shared, will continue to share, but that doesn't mean cats shouldn't remember to say it out loud.
Salamanderpaw keeps a lingering eye on any Thunderclanners dragging their feet and decides to ease herself down into a loaf by Heroneye in the meantime, who has also earned some sleepy appreciation: "You kicked that thing's ass to...smithereens, Heroneye. You're so cool."
That's about the best she can do right now, but she means it.

Berryshine gave the response Caveclaw about expected. 'The same leg?'
It was.
Every time.
Annoying as it was, she's pretty sure the cursed thing has taken more damahe this time, sure looks like it. And feels like it.
She only 'hmph'd' at Acornfall's comment about it.
The lykoi winced a little as Berry stopped the bleeding.
Definitely worse than usual.
It's kind of annoying that there even is a 'usual'.
As instructed, Caveclaw chewed the herbs given to her.
After this, Berry moved on.
Caveclaw waited now, though with nothing else to do as she waited, she simply got a look at her clanmates' injuries.
Stagheart, rough shape.
Owlstar, very rough shape.
Heroneye, rough shape.
Salamanderpaw, also rough shape.
