[Rolled a 12 ]
"The neck-" Floodpaw gasped between trying to hold the otter down and avoiding its swings at her. The silver she-cat tried her best to hold the otter down long enough for the ThumderClanner to deal some damage.
[ Rolled a 5 ]
Just like her claw digging into the otter, the otter returned the favour- clawing into the same wound it dug just moments before.
Owlstar thought she knew what a bad idea was when she saw one. Obviously not. Her paws burned, and her head was reeling with newly edged pain. Her jaw throbbed in sharp reminders. To add to that, her blows hadn't even landed. That was nice.
The tabby blinked, setting her jaw as an attempt to strangle the pain out of it, but she was probably making it worse. Alright, teeth were out of the equation. Spiderthroat was weak, clearly, but pulling as much weight as he could, literally. Dragging the otters to the forest wasn't something she'd seen before, but she was all for it.
The dots in her vision had yet to clear, but that didn't stop her from sizing up the situation. The otter was now half blinded and clearly aggravated, if not furious. Owlstar bristled out her pelt and snarled, watching as it's slim powerful body kicked mercilessly. Now couldn't possibly be a better time. The leader lunged forward, claws aimed at their throat and upper shoulders, specifically searching for whatever point would cause the most pain and blood loss.
[owlstar rolled a 15! attack successful!]
Her blows connected, tearing through skin and slipping through flesh. Their wildly manic laughing sounds didn't calm, if anything that got louder. Owlstar pinned her ears and squinted, unaware of the hind legs that lurched forward.
[owlstar rolled a 16! dodge successful!]
Owlstar leapt upwards a few inches, gravely avoiding claws. But they didn't exactly miss her entirety, ripping pinpricks of pain into her underbelly. She winced, making a metal note to watch out for their claws. Being half blind or just blind in general made any predator more testy and violent. This otter was no exception.
In a blur, and despite their heavily bleeding wounds, the crimson stained mammal reached up with their fore paw (ooc - they do have paws, right?) and swiped at Owlstar's bad eye.
[owlstar rolled a 5! fumble...]
Gone. What little was left of her hindered vision was gone. Her lazy eye might as well had been sliced in two, and while that part didn't exactly hurt, talons scraping clean across her brown face certainly did, reopening healed scars. Owlstar reeled back and howled, aiming one possibly fruitless swipe at the beats muzzle before she couldn't blink away the blood in her functional eye.

He let out a growl as the otter slipped from his hold. Lurching forwards at Owlstar who managed to get a decent hit on it. Multiple in fact. If he timed his hits right, he would be able to kill the nasty thing. There was one more…and he knew exactly which one. This one was the one he and Bumblestar were fighting at first, he needed the one that came out afterwards. Ambushed. It looked like they were making some progress. No one seemed to be dying , based off what he could see (which wasn’t much. He was reaching the end of his rope.)
Spiderthroat was able to regain his footing , looking up just in time to see it go and Slash at Owlstar. In that instant, in the moment of focus. Spiderthroat pounced. Back claws digging into the bottom part of its back, just above its tail. Front claws sank into the bottom most part of the neck, and the top of its open jowl. Fangs sinking into the scruff, making it kindly extend the neck.
In the instant, Spiderthroat wasted no time. Claws dragging down from its jaw, to the base of the neck, the lower paw slashing across the base of the neck. Effectively dislocating its jaw, moreso ripping it off its hinge (singular) and giving it the same deep neck would humblestar had , plus some. Showing exactly where he’d gotten his namesake from.
But this seemed familiar. All too familiar. Ears twitched as he heard the water splash. He was decently far, Owlstar, however, was the closest of the two. In the instant, Spiderthroat let out a hoarse yell “OWLSTAR. MOVE. WATCH OUT!”his voice crackled from overuse , limbs shuddered. He was on his last leg. The otter beneath him made a last attempt to buck him off, successfully launching him from the back, landing harshly on the forest floor. The beast making another last ditch attack at him before bleeding out.
It’s laughter distorted, wet. Wrong. Good. Slashes and scratches along his shoulders, chest, almost at his belly. He could keep it off a little longer. The fangs barely missing him as he held it up with his front paws. Getting increasingly difficult as its weight shifted more and more on him. It was actively dying and if it slumped on him he’d be pinned.
He had no idea how Owlstar was right now.

`~Owlstar
She, Her\Leader\53 moons\Riverclan
"My pulse is clear, rushing through my ears."
Red, red, red. Owlstar blinked rabidly, probably uselessly. She lifted a paw and rubbed the blood out of her eye. The other one was completely useless, a red veil over her vision and dark spots of what she could only assume was internal bleeding. With her sight hindered, her ears perked, straining to pick up on the faintest rustle of leaves, the yowls around her, the yowl... Infront of her?
Spiderthroat? Owlstar turned, sightless, muscles tensing as she readied herself to spring or doge or something of that sort. Ugh, she knew better than to let her guard down, now she had to prove her life was worth fighting for.
[owlstar rolled a 17! dodge successful!]
She spun around hastily, kicking up dirt as she did. By chance, she somehow got it into the otters eyes. She couldn't tell of course, she was too busy trying to get their scent out of her nose and to avoid the gnash of their teeth. Now or never it seemed. But, she'd hate to have to die here.
Owlstar aimed to lunge forward for the massive animals eyes, wrenching her good but blurred eye open to see the otter. Scared and rippled with muscles it's dark eyes stared at her and flashed it's teeth with every chatter. Owlstar snarled, fur bristled to make her look twice her size. She aimed claws at their eyes, prayed her strikes did some sort of damage.
[owlstar rolled a 13! attack successful!]
She'd managed to cup the otters massive face in her paws, pushing her claws through the tough skin that blanketed their bones. In that strike of pain, teeth snapped at her, aiming for her neck.
[owlstar rolled a 6! fumble...]
It's like the air tightened around her. She couldn't breathe as teeth enclosed on her, merely flailed around as she yowled breathlessly. She could feel the corners of her hindered vision blur, the warm blood cutting through her pelt and reaching flesh. She knew if her pelt wasn't matted, she would've been dead already. She found it promising that flesh hadn't been pulled out of her, just cut and revealed. Don't pull, don't pull, don't pull... Owlstar prayed, aiming a paw at the side of the otters neck, another paw stationed at their nose and muzzle. She needed to get out of this chokehold, or she was going to die.
[owlstar rolled a 16! attack successful!]
She figured desperation made her stronger, if not more willing to risk her pelt. Her claws had managed to make their marks, the large otter finally loosening its grip to reel back from the pain of their injury. In that moment, Owlstar wanted to take a chance at breaking bones. They were haughtily, no doubt it'd take a lot of force. Before deciding that through, Owlstar stumbled back, sputtering out blood as her throat pulsed in pain. She needed to put as much distance between her and the otter as humanly possible.
She knew it was foolish, trying to swallow back down her own blood, but she did it anyways. She tensed her muscles and arched her back, once again face to face with that ugly demon. They chittered at her, and it dawned on Owlstar that her hits hadn't really done much.
It was just playing with her.
The leader furrowed her brows, lashing her tail and cursing at her circumstances.

⤷ [ mumbleflight rolled a : 10 to hold on, and a 17 to injure ! ]
YIKES. yikesyikesyikes. mumbleflight managed to get in another good claw at the slippery thing's neck, but he knew damn well this was a sticky situation to be in. no matter how it went, getting off of the thing would leave him real injured, so why not do as much damage as he could while he was on it? he bit into its neck, the taste of salty, bitter blood flowing into his throat. however, as he bit, stagheart was kicked hard and heavy by the otter, and that momentum threw the thunderclanner off. the otter turned and flung him to the ground.
a sticky situation indeed, mumble's brain helpfully provided him as his head cracked against the ground and colors exploded over his vision. he was half sure his skull had cracked, but he might as well be being dramatic. so he hauled himself to his paws, vision swimming and his limbs about to give out on him. he wasn't ready to go down quite yet though, and mumbleflight spat out some blood to the side (it could have been his, it could have been the otter's, he wasn't super sure) and he dipped his head in a sharp nod as seabreeze spoke.
' righ'- ' and his head felt really heavy, and his mouth full of cobwebs, but he held on to conciousness. ' i'm goin' t' go for 's belly. 'f it's anythin' like 's, it'll b' weak there. ' mumbleflight's eyes flickered over his two riverclan partners- stars above, what was he even doing- for approval, knowing they'd done more of this than he had.

❝ and hold me fast, hold me fast
'cause I'm a hopeless wanderer ❞
Has Seabreeze ever mentioned how much he hates otters? Yes? Well let him just say that he hates the things because he actually doesn't care if he's already said that. The warrior growled, watching as the Thunderclan warrior got yeeted similarly to Seabreeze but wasn't so lucky on the landing- if he hadn't a head injury before, then he certainly did now. The observation more than confirmed by the slurred speech- The warrior winced, and it didn't take a medicine cat to know that something wasn't right. For now, the Riverclan warrior needed to focus, especially as Stagheart offered a cover and was dashing towards the creatures tail.
The former lionheart dashed into the fray once more, aiming to beeline right at the otter's flank in hopes of leaving it partially immobilized with the extent of Seabreeze's teeth and claws.
[ D20: 18 + 2 ( Experience ) ] Success ]
HAHah! Seabreeze's claws met flesh and his teeth tore, aiming to gore, though the otter's muscles flexed under him. It was distracted with its movements to throw off Stagheart before it could make way of getting rid of Seabreeze, allowing the tom to spill a fair amount of blood. Aw- The tom's thoughts were cut off with a wince as Stagheart was kicked roughly, and Seabreeze took that as cue to back away for a second for the next dash in.
[ D20: 2 + 2 ( Experience ) ] Fail! Owch ]
The otter squealed, turning on a dime to reach out with its front paws, its claws digging into Seabreeze's shoulders before he even had a second to think about dodging. Though he did find sick glee in the way it tumbled while trying to place weight on the limb that was still running red. OH- Pain pain pain pain pain... was this how Mudsmoke felt before falling to these things? Sheering, breath taking pain as its teeth latched onto Seabreeze, catching his cheek and chin before attempting to shake and wiggle. Tearing away some of his face flesh as it did so.
That was Seabreeze's flesh actually, thank you, get your own. He tore away and blinked away the fuzzy darkness around the edges of his vision, his shoulders burned- what was it? Couldn't handle Seab's good looks? Jealous? Even his enemies were obsessed with him.. hah.. he's totally lost a lot of blood, wowzers. The warrior bunny kicked, curling awkwardly to kick his hind legs into the otter's throat.
[ D20: 9 + 2 ( Experience ) ] Minor success ]
While it didn't really do much, the otter did let go and made a cough-like chatter sound- though Seabreeze didn't pay much attention, preferring to instead put enough distance to not get bit immediately again. Surely this otter couldn't keep going for much longer.
[ If this doesn't make sense then I am sorry, I'm not very good with fighting stuff... uhh anyways, are we supposed to kill the otter and if so wanna do that in the next couple posts? ]
Oof. Stagheart couldn't suppress the sympathy wince this time as he heard the crack of Mumbleflight's skull against the ground. His own head was still spinning, and his pawsteps staggered ungracefully as he blinked, trying to assess what was happening now. None of them were dead yet, which was good — but neither was the otter.
The large tabby warrior's eyes narrowed as he pushed off the pain as best as he could, zeroing in on the river otter. C'mon, he'd taken down one of these things before with less help... he could do it again... or was he just getting old?
At the very least, Stagheart's cover had let Seabreeze get a good hit in, and the otter was bleeding profusely now. Going for the belly... he settled his shaky gaze on Mumbleflight with a nod. "Tear it open... I'll try 'n hold it down for ya. That should end it," he huffed between pants to Seabreeze and Mumbleflight. It seemed like he was the largest cat here, and could hopefully provide enough size and weight to immobilize the otter enough. Just enough to make the killing blow.
With one last glance at his battling partners, Stagheart shook out the dizziness in his head haphazardly. It wouldn't be clean, not with his vision swimming like this, but it would have to do.
He lunged forward, taking advantage of the cough-like sound the otter made as it gasped for air after Seabreeze's kick. Similarly to how Mumbleflight was earlier, Stagheart wrapped his forepaws around its long neck, using his claws to hold onto the oily fur. Then his back legs wrapped around its stomach as best as he could, creating a sort of headlock and bodylock to hold the wriggly thing down with his body weight. Far from perfect, and it was thrashing much more than he'd like, but that was fine — he just needed it to keep its belly exposed.
It wouldn't last long, and the otter was already scrabbling at Stagheart's legs, shredding his skin and sending tabby fur flying — but the senior warrior held on, gritting his teeth as the stinging pain flooded through him. Had he been any less pain tolerant, he would've let go already. It was bad enough to make him bite back a yowl.
Stars above. It'd been a long time since he'd done something so crazy; he could practically feel Berryshine's eyes boring into him from across the way.
"Now!" He hissed, dark spots dotting his vision as he struggled to keep its belly nice and open for his fellow attackers. But this thing was so strong, even for him; He was about to let up in three... two...

Well hell, when risingstorm let go the otter turned to attack the apprentice and gave them a good beating, but the otter was blind now and disoriented throwing claws in a blind rage, one of what that had hit heroneye that looked like a deep wound. But that wasnt the point right now, he needed to kill this otter. Watching as heroineye bit onto the side of the otters neck caused a perfect opening to strike. The hornet lunged, clamping down on the otter throat hard biting with all the strength he had. He could taste the copper of the blood in his maw, a good sign so he kept on biting. In a final effort the otter clawed rising’s shoulder, reopening his old scar. The hornet didnt even think about the pain and only nit harder till the otter stopped moving.

he let go of the otters throat, and quickly re-aimed to clamp down on its vital spot, right on the side of its neck. blood sprayed out in a flashy ensemble, like birds fluttering along the air, as the otter tore another chunk of flesh out of his shoulder. he could barely move it, dammit! it let out a screech, flailing around as it lost blood. rainstalk leapt away as it tried to clamp down on his already weakened shoulder one final time.
