It was morning, not too early but not too late either. The tortie she-cat yawned as she untwined herself from her siblings and mother. After blinking the sleep from her eyes she quietly slipped out of the den, her different coloured gaze swept over the camp.

Not many cats were up, especially not cats her age. She hummed softly, oh well, she'd have to find someone older. Perhaps an apprentice or warrior would be willing to have some conversation with her.

Heatherkit yawned again and stretched before padding father out into the camp clearing so she was more visible, perhaps someone would approach her.

Vervainpaw was sitting in a corner of the clearing, rather exceedingly bored. The tabby mix hadn't heard any good gossip in a while, nor had he interacted with someone for a while. Maybe she should.. That was a good idea, wasn't it? Grey eyes scanned the clearing, missing nothing and noticing everything. He looked busy, she looked boring, she looked grouchy... Oh?

The cream and red she spotted a speckled tortoiseshell kit emerging from the Nursery. She looked... friendly. Interesting. Oh, and look at that pretty fur... Vervainpaw stood up abruptly and bounded over, positively vibrating from excitement.

"Hello!" The pretty apprentice chirped, making sure to keep his smily face on. Wanted to make a good first impression. "I'm Vervainpaw; what's your name?" Vervain asked, tail swishing as he took in every detail of the kit, filing most of it away for later. Could make for a good information trade... You never know.

The young she-kit watched as the apprentice approached, she narrowed her eyes examining this cat. Unfamiliar pelt, kinda weird colours, not a cat she'd normally be seen around, but she could perhaps make this work.

She hummed softly her brows furrowing at the apprentice introduced herself "Vervain?" Heatherkit repeated, her whiskers twitching.

"You can't have that name. That's my mama's name. Change yours- It's not very fitting of you anyways" She said sharply, her eyes narrowing to cold blue and yellow slits. She was so lost in being offended on behalf of her mother that she almost missed the last part.

She sat taking a deep breath, puffing her chest up proudly before responding "And if you MUST know, I'm Heatherkit" Heather said, almost as if Vervainpaw should have known her name from the start.

Vervain's smile vanished instantly. Nevermind, maybe they didn't like Heatherkit after all. Flicking his cream coloured ear, the apprentice said, a hint of sass in her tone, "At least I'm not named after grass. So ordinary." And no thanks, he liked his name very much. No kit, no matter how pretty she was, was going to tell her what to do. "And... how about no?" Pointed look, red-tipped tail twitching, grey eyes serious, though still containing their hint of playfulness. "If you're so worried, ask your Ma to change her name." Vervain actually wanted to meet her mother.

Wouldn't it be cool, since apparently they share a name? The apprentice filed away the conversation so far for later use, eyes picking up on almost every small detail. This would make for useful information someday... She did rather like Heatherkit's attitude, as rude as she was. Confident and self-assured. Those were good traits to have- most of the time. "Now, if you're finished insulting me, we can have a civil conversation, yeah?" Vervainpaw wanted to make friends- But if a stucj-up kit wanted to be enemies, then so be it.
