Re: WindClan Patrols
Ugh, this sucked. And of course Crowtooth was singling him out. Of course. Whisperinghive kept his maw shut as the rest of the patrol filed out in front of him. Stars above he just didn't want to deal with this. But he also had sense in his thick head, so he kept his maw shut and followed along. If nothing else, he did know how to hunt. He could get that done, throw it on the prey pile, and then go back to his nest. Whatever. It was chilly, he wanted to go to sleep, and as soon as they were out of here he wasn't waiting for any of these fools. He was the fool, really, but he didn't want to acknowledge it. Five pieces of prey. He'd have to hope for some luck, a few critters awaking from their leafbare naps and still unaware perhaps. @ Zelanna @ burntToast @ Mr_Possessive

Pale Orange Tabby Tom with Green Eyes - 26 Moons - He/Him - WindClan
Sunstorm padded back into camp, dragging the pheasant along with him. He turned back, grabbing the rabbit and the blackbird. I'm back Crowtooth, and I got the prey required," the tom mewed. "I apologize for the lack of a report from the initial patrol, and I will be sure to not let it happen again," he mewed. "In the meantime, I caught a rabbit, a blackbird and a pheasant for the Clan," he spoke respectfully, dipping his head.

Warmsun's overly nervous approach had Lightningstorm quirking an eyebrow, his excuse not one she would normally have taken kindly to, because if your patrol lets you down, don't let that bog you down as well... just get out there and bring back what you can, damn it! She had a whole clan to keep healthy by herself. Yes, she had an apprentice, but until he was more ready in the role and more confident in himself as far as healings went, it was mostly on her shoulders. If she stopped doing things because a couple of cats couldn't be arsed to show up when she called nothing would ever get bloody well done to begin with. This wasn't the average situation, however. Twolegs were encroaching on WindClan territory, and Twilightstar had placed an understandable buddy system of sorts that meant that if for some reason two out of the three cats she sent were no shows, the last cat standing could do little else than stand around if he didn't dare look for someone else to accompany them. This one would probably cry before trying to wrangle up another cat for the task, much like a certain giant she knew who was far too soft for his own good. As such, the medicine cat could do little else than sigh in frustration.
Before she could state much, one of Warmsun's patrolmates, Fernpaw, approached, his ears flickering nervously. An apprentice that didn't show for patrols when called was not a good sign, and yet... at the very least he showed for her second call, which meant that hey, maybe he just hadn't heard her the first time. Although she couldn't help wonder why Warmsun hadn't just called his damn apprentice over the first time around to begin with. Tail lashing out with annoyance behind her, the herbalist shook her head, displeased that it had come to this but never one to punish if they at least showed a willingness to help out when she called again. Of course... if they failed to accomplish their patrol once more, she would be much less eager to forgive and forget.
"One of your patrolmates was your apprentice, Warmsun, and he's right bloody well here, isn't he? Next time, call him up. I know you probably don't like ordering him about, but this isn't bullying him about for chores. This is proper training and helping the clan out if things with the twolegs get out of paw. It's a good example to set by being prompt with your patrols. Seeing as how you both actually showed up, though, unlike the other two, I'm willing to give you both another chance. It's the same patrol, and easy to go through, alright?
Starry Meadows is still safe from the last reports I've heard. Be careful, of course, but there should be cobwebs in the underbrush there. Easiest thing to find during leafbare, if I'm being honest, even so close to newleaf as we are. I would rather not need them, but like I said before, with the current war we have waged against us, it's best to overstock... just in case." Lightningstorm mewed, giving them a nod before dismissing them.

(Where do they go. Sorry if you put it in, it's hard for me to read the big paragraph TvT)
Fernpaw kept his gaze easy and calm as the medicine cat spoke to him. "Yes maam...im sorry." Fernpaw meowed in his nonchalant tone. Though the apologetic gaze showed his true feeling about missing it. Warmsun huh, he'd never even trained with his mentor, he needed to get on it like...now.

Hiya! So in my time it's the 31st in a few so I'm reporting back with Fernpaw! Warmsun didn't show regardless of my mention within the almost 2 days. I had Fernpw go out with my cat Lightnight so he would have a buddy!!)
Fernpaw padded back into the clearing, Lightmight behind him with a stick of cobwebs. Fernpaw spotted the medicine cat and padded over, his little nose pink from the cold he had a stick for her. 3-4 decent pieces of cobweb on it. Lightnight also silently dipped his head and handed her a stick of 2 cobwebs. "Sorry it took a bit. I had to find Lightnight and have him help me...and we waited a small bit..but Warmsun didn't show." Fernpaw meowed. His tone indifferent as he spoke bout the warrior and his absence from there second chance patrol.

The sun moved faster than Jaggedpaw on his journey back to camp. He underestimated how hard it would be to carry both pheasant that was basically his size aswell as the rest of the prey. He kept having to drop it, run ahead and drop the rest of the prey and then go back to fetch the giant bird. By the time he reach the camp his fur was standing up in all directions, clumped with dirt and feathers. The prey was no better and actually looked worse than when he originally caught them. Pheasant was lacking a few feathers and it mauled body was now caked with dirt from being dragged. The vole was still twisted from being crushed beneath him when he fell, the pigeons broken wing kept get in the way of Jaggedpaw path and stomped on, the crow was the only decent piece of prey and the mouse just looked like it would have died even if Jaggedpaw had killed it. If anything it looked more like he had fought with the prey than just hunted it.
The speckled apprentice scanned the clearing in search for the deputy so he could show off his winnings and also get unpunished. Keeping his rank secured. Spotting the deputy, Jaggedpaw dragged the pheasant and other prey towards the tom. Once close enough he dropped them and stood proud, forgetting he had been previously in trouble. "hey straws mentor! I'm back and I got your five pieces of prey here. See" he said standing tall and proudly with grin that showed off all his teeth including the unnaturally long ones. Jaggedpaw had to admit, he must be a great hunter. With no hunting training currently to his name, this was a decent hunt. Five pieces of prey! Better than most. Sure the condition of said prey wasn't the best but he was sure they all tasted the same- in disgusting and tasteless. He saw no difference. "not to brag but even with no hunting training to my name, this didn't challenge me at all"the condition of the prey did not back up his words and neither did the time it took him to return. Okay okay but here him out. An apprentice was allowed to proud of their first catch alright! And Jaggedpaw was extremely proud and he needed everyone to know that. Now to confirm that he was no longer punished and could continue his day as he wished.
"I got your five pieces of prey so that means I'm not punished anymore right?" he asked clicking his teeth and waiting for a response.

For a time it seemed as if Crowtooth would hold the irritated look on his face, looking over the broom with a careful paw before he smiled, nodding at Fallensky. "Yer good now, head back on in an' git some rest. Warm up." And hopefully not repeat your behavior again.

Sighing at the fact that only two cats of the four came back and trying to force a tired smile at them for their hard work Crowtooth looked over the catches and nodded. "Yer both forgiven but I warn ya ta not let this happen again. Turn in yer patrols even if ya do that alone an' dont run on alone as an apprentice. The territory is dangerous, even warriors dont go out alone wit' the traps at the moment.
An' fer stars sake Jaggedpaw please git some huntin' trainin' or ask a warrior on the patrol wit' ya ta teach ya.
Yer both free ta go."
Whisperinghive and Juniper however.... Crowtooth sighed, padding away to find them tell them the news.

Having felt confident on this patrol after Fernpaw's obvious display of forethought, Lightningstorm had left the pair to their own devices, deciding to head to the fresh kill pile for a meal. She hadn't eaten all day, after all, and she didn't need more reasons to have Crowtooth call her a half starved rat. Happily picking a vole, she got to eating, but not without noticing that Warmsun seemed to... have relegaded his apprentice to a different warrior? Either that, or Fernpaw had sought out a different warrior to go complete his patrol with altogether. Regardless of which was the case, she couldn't help but frown. Warmsun was the mentor. Fernpaw should be given an example of how to behave and be responsible, not be the example. She'd have to talk to the warrior when he came back with the herbs... assuming he did.
The sun had all but set by the time Fernpaw and Lightnight got back, cobwebs in both their maws. Lapis hues narrowed momentarily, not because of Fernpaw's appearance - if anything, the apprentice and accompanying warrior had exceeded expectations - but because of the feline that was missing. Heading out alone was still forbidden, and seeing as how Fernpaw had been found needing to find another companion to head on out while his mentor sat on his arse, the medicine cat was less than impressed with the older tom's actions. Taking a deep breath, the lithe calico stood, padding towards the approaching pair as she waved a greeting with her tail. Quietly, she listened to Fernpaw's explanation, her jaw setting with conviction at the sight of him. No apprentice should have to make excuses for their mentor, and this was the second failure in a single day for Warmsun. She had given him an easy chance out, and he had failed rather spectacularly.
"I see. Well, I'll be having a talk to Twilightstar about finding you an actual, decent mentor in the future, Fernpaw. Your skills are being wasted on Warmsun, from what he's shown here today. I know timid, quiet cats who go far and beyond expectations for their own apprentices. You shouldn't be having to take punishments on his behalf during your training," Lightningstorm stated with an encouraging voice, only her lashing tail showing her annoyance towards Fernpaw's mentor.
Turning towards Lightnight, the medicine cat's features softened a bit as she nodded politely at the warrior. He hadn't had a need to go out of his way to fix Warmsun's lack of action, and yet he did. She always appreciated cats like that. While she never did know how to receive words of gratitude or compliments, growing uncomfortable at the rare, once in a blue moon positive remarks she did get, the she-cat was quick to give her own in turn. She would rather cats not get as used to being used as she was, to the point of uncertainty at praise due to a lack of hearing it. If you did good, you bloody well deserved to hear it.
"Thanks for the help, Lightnight. You both get out of the cold and get some rest. You've earned it," she mewed amicably, offering Fernpaw a grin of encouragement in an attempt to let him know that he was well off the hook - it was clear what the problem had been, after all - before waving them away, her gaze only growing sterner when they had left. Warmsun should be happy that newleaf was just around the corner... and he would be able to avoid the twolegs for a whole moon. The outskirts would be his home for a while.

Fernpaw purred his thanks softly. "Get some rest Lightningstorm" he said politely. Waving his tail to say goodbye. Lightnight dipped his head as he said goodbye. He nudged Fernpaws shoulder. "See? Told you, you can do it if ya just try." RECIVING a small purr from Fernpaw the tom let him to his den.

Re: WindClan Patrols
PATROLS ARE DUE MAY 6TH BY 11:59 PM AST
If you need an extension, let me know a maximum of 3 days after the deadline.
If you need to be replaced, please have your character approach Lightningstorm with an in character excuse.
Herb patrols have a maximum of 5 herbs that can be carried per character; 8 herbs for those with The Collector purrk. Please make sure to provide a link to the post where your character gathered the herbs when handing them in or the patrol will be invalidated and your character will be punished.

Fur usually glossy and well kept appeared dull and dusty, sticking out to all sides as an exhausted looking medicine cat exited the den beneath the Galewood, lapis hues lifeless as they closed in light of the yawn escaping the calico. It had been a stressful moon. No rest had been afforded to her, with barely any time to eat or take stock of her herb stores. As a result, her ribs were beginning to be plainly visible through her short coat and her herbs... well...
She needed to send patrols. There was no getting around that. With things how they were, Lightningstorm had a good mind to head out on her own. Find the herbs she needed and come back without having to risk exposing others to the twolegs beyond their camp walls. But she knew Twilightstar would be having none of that. She might have been a little more disposable before, with Rabbitpaw as her apprentice... but she was alone again. The leader would probably send the furies to pile on top of her rather than let her go out on a herb run herself. Disgruntledly, she had to admit she would probably do the same in her position, which left her searching around camp now.

Finding a familiar, eternally dusty pelt among the cats gathered, the herbalist called the tunneler's name, beckoning her forward with her tail as she managed the herbs she had brought up for display. Even when she showed cats the right herbs, they sometimes brought the wrong ones back... but it was still a better bet than describing them or leaving it all to chance, she supposed. Not only that, but Dustbunny had always been among the dependable warriors, and considering she needed roots right now, she could think of no one better than the tunneler and her two apprentices.
"Dustbunny. Good day for a- Oh for star's sake..." she paused, interrupted as a light drizzle of rain began pattering overhead, a pointed glare aimed at the sky before she sighed in defeat. The herbs needed to be gathered... maybe the rain would be a small blessing in disguise. Twolegs hated getting wet as much as they did, right? Stars above she hoped so...
"No helping that, I guess. Well... Piss poor day for a patrol, is clearly what I meant to say, innit? Unfortunately, with things as they have been, I'm running low on some essentials, and I have a feeling I'll be using loads more of these before this all gets resolved... for better or worse.
See this here? I'm fairly certain I've sent you out to gather these before, haven't I? Comfrey? This is the whole plant. Root and all! I would appreciate it if you could take Littlepaw and Fleetpaw out with you to Thunderglade in search of some. Heard from Crowtooth that the twolegs have been staying far away from the borders, and with the cover there, it might be easier to dig out the comfrey you find?"

[ Sunset Grove ]
| Ashcloud [ @Fish ] | Daywhisper [ @seeingstars ] | Ashpaw [ @TheRedWyvern ] |
Done with the assignment of the first patrol, Lightningstorm ignored the pattering rain as it soaked through her fur, grabbing one of the two chervil she had left. With all the pregnant she-cats in the nursery and the potential for injury, a herb that had so many uses such as this one was necessary. This one was also preferred with the roots, but gratefully the leaf was just as useful, if perhaps not as potent. She would take what she could get for now.
"Ashcloud!" she called, waving the chervil in the air as she motioned for him to come forward. Sure, the tom had ended up bringing so many bee stings last time she had sent him on patrol, he had been more stinger than cat... but at least she knew she could depend on him to come back. She needed cats like that with things as they were now.
"Sorry to send you off with this rain starting up, but I'm afraid with the territory being as it is... I trust you to come back in one piece is what it all boils down to, innit?" Lightningstorm mewed, offering a weak smile that didn't fully erase the exhaustion from her eyes. "This here is chervil. It's a bit of a wonder herb that would be extremely helpful for so many things right now... It's mostly found in Sunset Grove. If you could take Daywhisper and Ashpaw there and bring back a good amount, I would be proper grateful. Just... make sure there are no twolegs about. I don't think the grove is as filled to the brim with traps as the other places, so you should be safe. If it looks like trouble, get out before you get hurt. Any patrol that gets injured getting herbs will actively be hurting the herb storage more than they would be helping it with how things are right now."
| Celandine |
[ Twilight Falls ]
| Brightpetal [ @Brightpetal ] | Frostbite [ @Snips ] | Heatherpaw [ @Craneflight ] |
Right... That was yet another patrol down. And the more she looked, the less cats she was well familiar with she found. In truth, she was stuck down in her den so long and working so often, she didn't have time to have small talk with... well... anyone. Of course, no one really simply went to her for a simple greeting, either, so she supposed it went both ways. Spottedpaw had sought her out, sure, but she had been hurting. It was less a simple hello more of a therapeutic talk for the apprentice. Hardly the equivalent of small talk.
Finally giving up on finding a close, trusted feline, Lightningstorm's gaze instead fell on a mildly familiar face and she grabbed on to some celandine before calling her over. Sure, she had no real knowledge on Brightpetal other than she got a thorn in her paw that one time and she didn't really talk or give much back and forth, but she could always hope this meant the she-cat was on the serious side and pray the patrol would use common sense and become a part of the war against the twolegs as opposed to more problems for her and another victory for the bloody pests.
"Brightpetal. Hope you're not on your way to the warriors' den to shield yourself from the rain, because I'm about to send you out on patrol. Sorry, love, but gotta use whatever we can to gather up some herbs. Especially if the twolegs decide the to take shelter from the rain 's well, eh? Here, see this herb? It's called celandine. Grows around this time of year. It's a small window of time, really, and I would like to find some before newleaf passes us by. It might come in really handy against injuries you lot keep getting from them twolegs, too! Take Frostbite and Heatherpaw over to Twilight Falls to pick a few. And keep an eye out for traps. If I need to use more herbs every time a patrol gets sent out I'm afraid I'll be all out before greenleaf gets here."
| Horsetail |
[ Whispering Wetlands ]
| Hawkfur [ @Mica ] | Egretpaw [ @versailles ] | Gnawingpaw [ @Alchemist Kitsune ] |
No sooner had she departed from Brightpetal's side than she spotted a much more familiar, red pelt among the cats still risking the clearing despite the mild rain. A sigh of relief escaping her, she padded straight to the fury, having a special herb in mind for him. She hadn't been able to spot any of this particular herb in her searches through the territory, making her assume it was either rare in the open WindClan moors or simply incapable of growing. With the borders being more secure of late than their own land, however, it occurred to her that perhaps a visit to the ShadowClan border would not be a bad idea. Might as well send Hawkfur along with a few apprentices. Stars knew they were probably feeling cooped up enough in camp to maybe be even more at risk than usual out in the plains if sent in pairs. Whispering Wetlands would probably be a safer bet for all felines involved.
"Hey, Hawkfur," Lightningstorm called, the water now plastered on her fur and running down her ribs, provoking a small shiver. Silverpelt above... had they not just gotten rid of the cold?! "Was hoping I would be able to convince you to run a patrol for me? It'd be proper helpful for all the injuries we are getting of late...
Herb I want you to find is called horsetail. I've been showing everyone the herbs they need to get today but... 'fraid I don't really have none of this to show you. Can describe it though! It's fairly unique looking, innit? Tall. Very fleshy for a green plant. Looks like a stem with a bad fur day bristling all over. Haven't found it around the territory, but I have a feeling there should be some around Whispering Wetlands due to the descriptions I've had of it. Take Gnawingpaw and Egretpaw. All this staying in camp's got the apprentices on edge, and there's no place safer than the borders right now anyway."
| Lavender |
[ WindClan Territory ]
| Quickwhisker [ @Mapleshade_Colossus ] | Marshheart [ @Wolfpawz ] | Splashpaw [ @kailie ] |
Grateful to the tom, the medicine cat shuddered one more time before attempting to shake off some of the water clinging to her diminishing figure before settling on one last patrol. A lot of cats had been tense of late. For good reason. Hell, she was tense. And tired. Exhausted, really. But there was always work to do, and with lavender beginning to flower now, it would be just the right season to gather some of the herb. Sure, it bloomed all the way until greenleaf, but the nicer smelling buds were always the earliest. Perhaps not important for all herbs, but it was a nice boost for this one in particular.
"Quickwhisker! Over here!" Lightningstorm called, grabbing the lavender she had brought as an example to the tom and showing it to him before giving him details on his patrol.
"This here is lavender. They should be in bloom now and easy to find by both scent and looks, even in this weather. I would like you to take Marshheart and Splashpaw to the territory and bring some back. I know the territory is filled with traps right now, so please, be careful. Any one of you getting hurt now might put a bigger dent on the clan's herb stores than we can recover from. It wouldn't do us any good if the cats trying to replenish the herbs end up using more than they can bring back, after all," she stated bluntly, once more hoping this warrior had good common sense to avoid danger. Much as she hated to send out patrols with the traps everywhere, there was nothing else to do about it. If they were forced to simply stay in camp quivering in fear, they would die. That was a fact, no matter how harsh it sounded.

Re: WindClan Patrols
CW: this character often experiences symptoms of PTSD and anxiety.
Fleetpaw lifted his head from his at the sound, the soft pitter patter. It was beginning to rain. Blinking up at the sky, his ears swiveled as they picked up the sound of his name. The tall, skinny tom poked his head out of the apprentice's den before bounding over to where Dustbunny and Lightningstorm were. "I-I'm...n-needed for...a p-patrol?" He mewed, eyes sparkling eagerly. Anything to be of use to his clanmates.
