Fallensky burst away from Nectardrop, rushing over to Crowtooth. Sorry, Crowtooth. I've been acting like a kit lately, don't know why. A flush of embarrassment heated up her face, and she looked down at her paws. Did... What... I mean, did I do something bad? She shifted uneasily, trying her best to meet his eyes. I promise I didn't mean it, I promise I'll make up for it! She explained quickly, her fur bristling.
{ @Rani - @nyx }
The deputys expression was thunderous, voice like ice as one one cat showed and with seemingly no awareness of her crimes. "Fallensky. I choose ya o' all cats ta go on the scoutin' patrol ta the windy hills, a critical task given recent events especially now that we know about the traps the twolegs are settin'. I impressed how risky it was, a risk that could've been lessened wit' more capable warriors present. Im not cruel, if ya couldnt manage an' ya told me I couldve replaced ya no issue.
Ya didnt do that an' instead disappeared mid scoutin' trip leavin' me Rabbitfur an' Sixfoot vulnerable. I frankly dont care why, no excuse ya 'ave is good enough. Whats important is ya put yer clanmates at risk by yer actions when I thought I could rely on ya, a mistake I will Not make again." Crowtooths tone dripped with disappointment, internally hoping the guilt wracked the warrior. Nothing bad had happened but it could and while four warriors + a senior apprentice could survive a catastrophe three warriors had less chances. That was the risk Fallensky had imposed on the scouting patrol, one that extended to the clan given the information on the hills the patrol had sought was critical.
The tom sneered, eye casting over the gap Nectardrop left. "At least ya have the guts ta show face after bein' disgraceful. Congratulations, ya wont be exiled like her. Today." There was no excuses accepted today Nectardrop could beg to come back later. For now she got to live alone and vulnerable without her clan for letting them down twofold.
"Fallensky ya get a chance ta avoid the same fate. Yer headin' out onta the territory an' gettin' me broom (thick thorny bush with droopy yellow flowers). It aint gonna be easy, the flower doesnt fully bloom fer a moon but some should start ta be peakin' out in warm spots this time o' year.
It might take ya a full day ta gather it. Maybe even two days. Maybe yer gonna be out there all night. Maybe ya 'ave ta leave windclan ta find 'em in the twoleg place or outskirts. I dont care but ya aint returnin' ta camp or enjoyin' windclans prey until ya do.
Its possible, but it aint gonna be fun an' ya might need ta spend a night in the snow. While yer out gatherin' the herb maybe reflect."
It was the most unpleasant task Crowtooth had issued to date but he was pissed and Lightningstorm did need that herb. It was possible to find it, the tom had talked to her and while it was very early at this time the first bushes were budding in warmer spots.
He could give worse punishments.
[ @nyx Nectardrop is temporarily exiled until the 30th of april, where she is able to attempt a rejoining with Twilightstar for failure in the scouting patrol and failure to show up for punishment]
[ @Crown_Sage Fallensky is to collect 5 broom flowers over 3, 100 word posts in windclans territory or the outskirts. Until then any posting of him in camp threads will result in further punishment. The herb is rare this time of year but can be found. You have until the 30th of march 11:59PST ]

Fallensky dipped her head, a sick, guilty feeling rising within her. What will Mama think when I tell her? If I ever come back... Her stomach twisted, and she looked up at her deputy. I'm sorry, again, Crowtooth. I won't let you down this time. Even worse, what would Fleetpaw think of this? Would he still love her? What if she never got to say goodbye? The she-cat hung her head as she made her way out of camp to begin her search.

Whisperinghive made his way over to Crowtooth, tail low. Here. he muttered, shooting a quick glance up at the deputy before looking excessively intently at the meadow again.

Try as much as she wanted, Dapplebreeze couldn't help the look of pity that crossed her gaze at the sight of the deputy, his fur so on end it looked like he might just be on his last nerve. As the tom got closer, she raised her head, making it easier for the larger feline to speak to her in as private a fashion as they could afford, and what he admitted to almost brought horror to her very soul. To think... that the ShadowClan border might be among the safest places in the territory right now! Travesty! These twolegs must be a bigger threat than she had given them credit for! Traps? In WindClan?! Their own home a battlefield. Oh... StarClan help them all...
A small frown setting on her face, the fury's jaw set resolutely as she nodded. "It is moments like these that we must rely on one another, my dear. Here, allow me to set out. I'll look for Batglare and we can both do a run together. With both of our heads and skills together, we will be safer than any other cat in the clan... bar you and Twilightstar, of course. I am sure the commander will be happy to accompany me on a hunt. He is always on paw to help," the patched she-cat mewed softly to the deputy, ensuring she would not worry the youngsters as she dipped her head in a respectful bow before bounding off, on the search for a dashingly handsome, yellow eyed tom.
@Rani [Crowtooth]
No need to respond here, I promise. This date is happening, damn it! |
Crowtooth shot Dapplebreeze a pitiful thankful look at her offer, once again recalling that this was the cat that grabbed his scrappy orphan self during the coyote attack of his kithood alongside Bravebirds mewling form. The mother of his friend. "Thanks. Yall be careful but any huntin' yall can do is a relief fer one o' my worries, dont 'ave ta stress over sendin' a normal patrol who might not be equipped.
I trust ya ta git everythin' handled so no need ta report, now Imma go deal wit' the trouble makers." This round had a good bunch of non reports, which wasnt the best.

We were having trouble finding something to bring back, while trying to be cautious. The place reeks of two legs, but we didn't find any on patrol."
He ducks his head, lowering his voice as he did. "Ratjump also contributed to us being late. He seemed slow and distracted, and I had to tell him to come down from the tree when the sun had begun to set."
He didn't want to get Ratjump in trouble, but he was also unwilling to take blame that wasn't his. He'd tried to get them on time. "We unfortunately didn't have time to teach Peachpaw how to hunt. I can make up for it by taking him out and teaching him."
Oh thank the stars he was gonna send out a search party. Giving Havenfade a relieved grin the toms tail flicked assured "No issue on the timin' Im just glad yall are home safe an' got some prey. Ratjump gets a pass fer now" Because unlike some cats it seemed he was just a bit too into the patrol rather then doing nothing "but I'll give 'im a warnin' before sendin' 'im out again.
Im leavin' Peachpaw up ta yall, if he wants ta learn from ya great. If not, dont push it he might 'ave a cat in mind. Dismissed." alright that was all patrols in. Good.
Everyone but Applegrove had gathered the the tom snorted, growling a low "If someone sees Applegrove tell 'er shes exiled fer a moon. If shes vanished like so many cats in trouble do then she'll 'ave some tasks to do before she has any hope o' returnin'." before turning on the cats present.
"Ya'll either completely neglected yer border patrol or raced off when ya'll should know better. So yall git ta head right out again an' hunt. Ya'll need three prey pieces at least an' Whisperin'hive, dont ya think o' comin' back wit'out at least five. Stay together an' Jaggedpaw? Ya go racin' off wit'out a warrior again an' Im demotin' ya an' tellin' yer dad exactly why he should be upset. Go."
No other instructions or explanations, this wasnt a duty or privileged but a task they'd fulfill or face demotion and/or temporary exile. The sky was dimming, air chilling as it was no longer bright day and they could live with exhaustion and not getting to rest yet.

Sunstorm nodded at the deputy's order. "Yes Crowtooth," he mewed. He needed a cat to go with him so they could both go hunting. After all, solo hunting was prohibited right now with all the twoleg traps around.

Jaggedpaw stood throughout the scolding, his neutral expression slowly but surely turning into a scowl. First of the punishment sound like just another patrol which Jaggedpaw didn't mind but having it phrased like a punishment was flattering at all!! Now even if he caught a lot of prey it wouldn't be considered as great because he had done it on a patrol for those being punished. When Crowtooth addressed him specifically, Jaggedpaw clicked his teeth. He was in trouble for being efficient? He knew Snowydad would understand so he didn't care if Crowtooth went to go tattle to him. Also what a lame threat, using his dad against him. Who did Crowtooth think he was?? Oh deputy, oh boo guess that meant Jaggedpaw had to listen to him.
Whatever, hell just get this patrol over and done with and catch more prey than everyone else so they could know who was superior. He didn't like that his rank was dangling on this hunt either.
Jaggedpaw turned to the rest of the cats who were to be sent on the patrol, Crowtooth had said to stick together so he supposed that meant they had to all go as one big patrol. He didn't want to wait for anyone again so he made it clear how impatient he was. "okay, let's get going. I don't feel like hunting all day" because he didn't find hunting to interesting, it was just catching small critters and killing them. If this was a battle training punishment patrol -- if there even was such a thing -- he would be way way more enthusiastic.
Fallensky was panting for breath when she returned back to the patrol place, her fur freezing cold. C-crowtooth. She gasped, dropped the broom at his paws. I brought back what was needed. She told her deputy, dipping her head.

Sunstorm gave an irritated look at the apprentice. "As if we aren't all here because we didn't follow orders," he thought to himself, rolling his eyes. He began to pad to the camps entrance, making sure the rest of the patrol was following.

Warmsun's overly nervous approach had Lightningstorm quirking an eyebrow, his excuse not one she would normally have taken kindly to, because if your patrol lets you down, don't let that bog you down as well... just get out there and bring back what you can, damn it! She had a whole clan to keep healthy by herself. Yes, she had an apprentice, but until he was more ready in the role and more confident in himself as far as healings went, it was mostly on her shoulders. If she stopped doing things because a couple of cats couldn't be arsed to show up when she called nothing would ever get bloody well done to begin with. This wasn't the average situation, however. Twolegs were encroaching on WindClan territory, and Twilightstar had placed an understandable buddy system of sorts that meant that if for some reason two out of the three cats she sent were no shows, the last cat standing could do little else than stand around if he didn't dare look for someone else to accompany them. This one would probably cry before trying to wrangle up another cat for the task, much like a certain giant she knew who was far too soft for his own good. As such, the medicine cat could do little else than sigh in frustration.
Before she could state much, one of Warmsun's patrolmates, Fernpaw, approached, his ears flickering nervously. An apprentice that didn't show for patrols when called was not a good sign, and yet... at the very least he showed for her second call, which meant that hey, maybe he just hadn't heard her the first time. Although she couldn't help wonder why Warmsun hadn't just called his damn apprentice over the first time around to begin with. Tail lashing out with annoyance behind her, the herbalist shook her head, displeased that it had come to this but never one to punish if they at least showed a willingness to help out when she called again. Of course... if they failed to accomplish their patrol once more, she would be much less eager to forgive and forget.
"One of your patrolmates was your apprentice, Warmsun, and he's right bloody well here, isn't he? Next time, call him up. I know you probably don't like ordering him about, but this isn't bullying him about for chores. This is proper training and helping the clan out if things with the twolegs get out of paw. It's a good example to set by being prompt with your patrols. Seeing as how you both actually showed up, though, unlike the other two, I'm willing to give you both another chance. It's the same patrol, and easy to go through, alright?
Starry Meadows is still safe from the last reports I've heard. Be careful, of course, but there should be cobwebs in the underbrush there. Easiest thing to find during leafbare, if I'm being honest, even so close to newleaf as we are. I would rather not need them, but like I said before, with the current war we have waged against us, it's best to overstock... just in case." Lightningstorm mewed, giving them a nod before dismissing them.
