Sooooo no Maplepaw. Her and Hollyhawk had been able to get the border marked decently well, so it wasn't a CRITICAL problem, but it was still unfortunate. The apprentice could have done with the experience, if nothing else. At least the young warrior came to investigate the frogs, awaking one of them with a paw. It made an escape into the swamp, in the process awaking the other one nestled in the mud near Deadmoon's paws. Now a bit prepared for the escape tactics it would employ, the molly was able to strike it with her paw.
Knocking it back onto firm ground, Deadmoon dragged her own paws from the mire before trying to pounce on it. Her first lunge was avoided by a frantic croak and hop, but her second strike managed to pin the frog down. Biting into it's strange, leathery skin, Deadmoon brought it down. She promptly dropped it again, because it was still covered in mud and frankly kind of disgusting. Thank you Starclan? I guess? she muttered, looking up at the sky. She wasn't terribly big into the whole thanking Starclan thing, so it was more sarcastic than anything else. Doubly so because frogs were nasty.

Oh Starclan. Maplepaw was late! She ran to where her patrol was, panting. "I'm so sorry! I tripped over a root back there. It won't happen again!" She wouldn't be made a warrior if she was tripping over roots! Gah! She was so dumb.
"So, what did I miss?" It didn't look like much, but they had caught frogs. Ew! Who would even eat those in the clan? Probably some weird warrior. There were a lot of them these days. @gs29513 @seeingstars

Hollyhawk ♦ He / Him ♦ Windclan warrior ♦ 11+ moons
In all the excitement of seeing a new creature, he'd forgotten the whole point of this was to mark the borders- Right uh-
He nodded to Deadmoon, flashing an embarrassed smile before he made his way to mark his half of the border, meeting back with Deadmoon. he looked around, concern filling his gaze, where had Maplepaw gone? Hadn't she been with them? It's not like she was some helpless apprentice... but still-
He felt the need to make sure his sister's friend was safe
"Have... you seen Maplepaw? She was here a second ago- i could have sworn-" He said, furrowing his brows as he looked towards Deadmoon.
"We should take a quick look for her... just to make sure she's okay-" he murmured, frowning down at the ground before looking back up "Maybe she got lost or some-" He was cut off by Maple's voice, relief flooded through the Windclan warrior as he greeted her with a friend nod and a smile.
Hollyhawk looked back to Deadmoon "Well- With Maple here we could... maybe... hunt a little, I think I heard something a lil over there!" He said, pointing with his paw in the opposite direction that Maplepaw had come from, his tail gently swayed behind him. He figured they were out here anyway- might as well bring some prey home as well.
Ah, so Maplepaw had made an appearance. Nice. It's fine she was trying SO HARD to be pleasant, stars above just.......leave a couple border marks while Hollyhawk and I do a bit of hunting. She wasn't terribly confident that she could get her paws on anything else, it might just be the frog, but she was going to at least give it a shot. Assuming that the new warrior would handle the rustling he'd pointed out, Deadmoon instead padded a bit farther along the border, the frog left behind.
She gave scenting the air a fair chance, but didn't come up with much. Another foray into the muck in search of frogs, perhaps? It was a rather nasty tactic, but she couldn't deny it had been successful. It took her a tad too long to identify a spot that held them, however, and this pair of amphibians were a bit more sprightly. Their escape was swift and kicked up mud in her face, leaving her spitting in annoyance. Yeah, no thank you. She was quite done with this whole patrol business, and ready to be back on proper dry land. Let's head back. I've had enough of wading around in this muck. she called, turning back towards camp and shaking her paws vigorously. @SillyLittleCherry @seeingstars

With a nod Holly took off in the direction he'd pointed out earlier. His ears perked and alert as he listened for prey. The large tom lifted his nose to the air, trying to pick up something. He took in a deep breath, parting his maw.
[ Rolled an 11 ]
He picked up a scent! Though was not entirely sure what. He sniffed harder, finally identifying the smell as a robin. Perhaps this was a sign of spring? or maybe just a weird robin, either way! Food!
[ Rolled a 16 ]
Ah ha! He locked onto the scent, shooting off in it's direction. Once in view he crouched, creeping slowly across the ground. He could practically already taste his kill, it was HIS and he was going to impress the warrior, and be cool to Falls' friend.
[ Rolled a 14 ]
He launched himself forward, landing decently gracefully on the robin's back, quickly ending it's life before thanking Starclan for this prey. He buried it and continued on his hunting. He glanced back to the bubbling Marshlands, a grimace crossed his maw, well... the frogs were certainly out- perhaps they'd eat one or two of these things.
He slowly creeped across the mud, attempting to keep his paws from slipping out from under him. He watched the bubbles carefully before deciding to make a move.
[ Rolled a 3 ]
The keeping his paws under him was the problem, he went to leap and had his paws slip out from under him, once more landing him in the mud. A frustrated hiss escaped his maw as he lashed out a claw filled paw at the mud below him.
[ Rolled a 15 ]
He felt flesh tear under his claws, eyes widening he yanked a frog from the mud without even noticing. It croaked, kicking in an attempt to detach itself from the Windclan tom's claws. He swallowed nervously, shaking it free before quickly nipping at it to kill it. It wasn't his most clean catch, but he hadn't even noticed the frog near him. He buried it with his robin then continued.
He needed to make his mother proud, she was the queen of patrols and he'd be damned if he didn't live up to that title.
Hollyhawk's ears perked once more as he heard what sounded like... what was that...?
[ Rolled an 11 ]
Hm... Squirrel perhaps? some kind of rodent at least- He crouched. creeping towards the squirrel, making sure to keep his tail up and his steps quiet. He slowed as he neared the rodent, watching closely through narrowed eyes.
[ Rolled a 7 ]
He leaped forward, missing completely. The squirrel squealed then darted up the nearest tree on the Shadowclan side of the border. Hollyhawk took a shaky breath, but sighed, looks like all he was getting was the two pieces he currently had. He sighed, picking up his robin and frog before heading back to find his other patrol mates.
Oh alright. Maplepaw frowned. She had to mark. It was fine. She would rather be hunting though. She went over and started marking the border. Her nose kept sensing all the prey they were hunting. Lucky. After she was finished, she went over to them. "Nice job! You guys caught some good stuff." She smiled.
"If you need any help I can help! I can carry some." @gs29513 @seeingstars

The look on Rockjaw's face when he heard he'd be patrolling with her was priceless. Birdecho traveled alongside him through the territory and toward the WindClan border, tail held high and a smug grin on her face. His disdain for her was amusing, but only because she was the one that fostered it. See, Birdecho was used to cats thinking she was slow, annoying, and irritating, but if she controlled their perception of her, it made her feel less icky. ... Birdecho had a lot of childhood issues to work on, but now was hardly the time.
The border murmured dreamily at her, and Birdecho scanned the distant horizon that stretched beyond the moors. What would it be like to run across them and never stop? Never gasp for air, never feel your lungs shutter and constrict? As if on command, Birdecho coughed to the side, out of breath from the walk over. She couldn't wait until Newleaf; at least her cough was more manageable in the warmer seasons.
"Alright, handsome." Birdecho chirped, whirling on her partner. "Splitting up or going together? Instruct me, oh Great Patrol Leader."
Cottonpaw wiped the spray from the puddle from his maw and returned the other apprentice’s smile. Shrikepaw sure was friendly and that set all his nerves and excitement to ease. ”h.h.hi! Yes I’m C.c.c.cottonpaw.” His yellow eyes were wide and he was ready to go. ”It’s n.n.n.nice to m.m.m.meet you!” He leaned forward to give her a friendly bump to her nose. She was one of Twilightstar’s children if he remembered correctly.
His head pivoted as the final member and leader of this patrol arrived. Dapplebreeze, he once more offered a kind smile as he listened into her words. Nodding carefully and following her into the territory, it was nice meeting new cats. Getting to know the clan much much better the older he got.
”I..I d.d.don’t think I’ve h.h.h.had toad b.before, d.d.does it taste okay?” His head tipped to the side as the drizzle of rain persisted, his soft fluff beginning to become rather sodden and discoloured from the mulch underpaw as he looked up to Dapplebreeze’s face. He wondered if him and Shrikepaw might get the chance today, particularly with the rain. He remembered hearing something vaguely about them liking it.
He wasn’t quite sure yet to do when it came to border patrols, but he’d wait for instruction and as always listen carefully.

"Pleasure to meet you too!" She grinned. Oh! And this was Dapplebreeze! She seemed absolutely lovely. The ShadowClan border.... Hm. She'd yet to meet a ShadowClan cat, but she didn't think much of any clan other than WindClan. They'd be no match for the three of them. And, a toad? Or... Two? She wasn't entirely sure what toads were, to be honest, but she was excited to find out! She'd been told bits and bobs about frogs and toads, but had never seen one.
She bounded along after the two of them - wishing she could run faster, but heeding Dapplebreeze's warning. She didn't take much care to avoid muddy patches, where would the fun be in that?! So, mud streaked coat, she trotted on.
Back to toads - she skidded to a halt, "as long as they don't smell like stinky ShadowClan, I bet they're yummy!" The jest was sort of tongue in cheek, not quite venomous toward the other clan, simply teasing.
