[PT] can an iris bridge the rift?
Enough of this. Irisdream had been giving this a lot of thought...and she wanted to help Riftpaw through his training. He really should be further along, but she didn't fault Duskleaf because the poor tom has been through hell and high water lately. Riftpaw could have taken charge of his own training during that time and be farther along than he is now. As it stands, he's a liability to the clan. And aside from that... I will not tolerate Riftpaw making Duskleaf look bad. This decided, she finished her morning grooming, casting a warm glance in Duskleaf's direction before lightly touching her nose to his ear, and quietly slipping out of the den.
Irisdream strode confidently to the apprentice's den, her mission decided. "Riftpaw." She called into the den upon her arrival, stepping aside to allow him space to emerge. She didn't bother telling him to come here, it was in her tone. But then she remembered how...unable to pick up on subtleties this apprentice was, and thought better of it. "Come here. Now please." She wasn't certain if the additional clarification on the timing in which she wanted him to appear was necessary, but just in case.

Riftpaw was laying down taking a nap when his name was called. Not by someone very familiar to him, either. He twitched an ear and opened on eye, tail swishing behind him as he debated whether to listen or not. Ugh. It was either this or a lecture from Sunheart. He hated those.
Dragging himself out of his nest, the tom poked his head out of the apprentice's den, giving Irisdream a contempt sniff. "What?"
Stars, what did she need him for? Did she suddenly think because she was friends with his mentor that it meant she could boss him around like he was her apprentice? Nuh uh. No way.
( @Luna16 - and so begins his angsty teen phase )

Re: [PT] can an iris bridge the rift?
Irisdream suppressed her urge to sigh and rip her fur out. She could already tell...this apprentice was trouble. Her full ear twitched with her irritation though, nasty little tic that was. She'll have to do something about that. "You and I are going to be doing some training today." She informed him, eyes narrowing in warning. "I'm certain Duskleaf and Sunheart will be interested to hear of your progress." Yes, that was a threat. If he refused to work with her, she would have no qualms about pulling Sunheart into this. Although...she'd rather not drag Duskleaf into things.
"We're going to start with swimming." She stated, leaving no room for debate. The silvery she-cat turned, waving her tail in one smooth motion for Riftpaw to follow her. She only took a few pawsteps before stopping, turning to look over her shoulder to make sure he was following her. Dark blue eyes expressionless and narrowed.
@ korok - Riftpaw - pfffft I get the feeling Iris is gonna end up bopping him one day. XD Or dragging him by his scruff somewhere lol.

As Irisdream spoke, Riftpaw yawned and narrowed his eyes, but didn't interrupt. However, he did scoff at her mention of Duskleaf and Sunheart. "Isn't tattling for kits?" He mumbled to himself. It's not like Sunheart was going to tell him anything he didn't already know. 'Be more open. Try to make friends. RiverClan this, RiverClan that.' Who cares?
Riftpaw just wanted to left alone. Maybe only let Duskleaf, Beaverpaw and Snakefang talk to him. And probably the twins. He snorted to himself. If only Rainpaw wasn't being so weird- but what was new? And cats thought he was weird...
Ah. Anyways. As Irisdream began walking away, the apprentice simply padded silently behind her, glowering. She must think being a Lionheart makes her so cool now.

Re: [PT] can an iris bridge the rift?
Irisdream's ear twitched with irritation again, but she refused to allow this welp to goad her into an argument. Only kits thought of reporting as "tattling", but that was neither here nor there. He was following, and that was good enough for now. Perhaps...for the other lessons I can bribe him somehow. This was a good plan. Sometimes, toms needed a little...extra motivation. She'd have to ask Duskleaf or Sunheart for ideas, although the amount of time Riftpaw spent with Beaverpaw, Rainpaw, and Ravenpaw was not lost to her. Perhaps...therein lies the key to getting this apprentice to get his training done. Something to consider. For now, swimming.
Irisdream led Riftpaw to a pond she had discovered was thawed. Thank StarClan. Not being able to fish or train apprentices in swimming and fishing had been quite the annoyance. She turned to Riftpaw, considering him for a moment. Trying to decide if he would learn best by example, or first-paw experience. I'm going with...experience. That decided, she held his gaze to be sure he was paying attention. "We'll go in together." She explained. "The water will be cold, so I would suggest going in up to your bellyfur and then allow your body to adjust." She did hope he took this advise. "Going slower will only make the adjustment take longer."
To be a good sport, the silvery feline found a place where they could enter the pond slowly from a shoreline, and start to pad out. She continued until she was in the water up to her bellyfur, and turned, waiting for Riftpaw to join. This way, at least they were equally cold. And stars above, this was cold. Having not eaten as much fish lately, due to the waters having been frozen, her fur lacked its usual protection from the water. But soon, after the biting cold, she no longer felt it. And she knew, that if Riftpaw was patient (or at least determined) he would be able to get through it as well.
@ korok - Riftpaw - get in there! >3
