The Dancing Bird

The tension in Owlthroat’s body subsided at the cry to return home. There was something brewing, between Thunderclan and Riverclan. The tension made him feel excited, it was unfortunate if it came to anything that Shadowclan was unlikely to be involved. Owlthroat missed the rush of a good battle.

He flicked his tail dismissively, keeping an eye on everyone making sure they returned home.

SunflowerFlare was about to respond, but their gaze went to the tripod apprentice. Honestly, if it weren’t for the warriors amazing hearing skills, they wouldn’t have a single clue what mumble jumble came from the poor thing. But, they also couldn’t help but a smile flicker on their expression towards the apprentice, one more gentle then their usual (harsh mean sarcastic, condescending) rough look. “Smart kid. ‘least for his age…” unlike the warrior I’m talking too “Ya should speak up more, ‘m sure ya got some good things t’ say.” they huffed, and at that, their expression went neutral again as they turned to the warrior.

“I get it. I’m tired of being stepped all over too. We gotta prove we’re stable though. Some of our past leaders,” fadingsun, larkwing, birdsnow, blah blah blah “, haven’t made the…best decisions. A shame really.” That was the most they’d agree with the warrior. Cause they are sick of their clan being a disgrace. Sunny would be pissed too if they were in either of the other three clans…or at least WindClan and ThunderClan. ShadowClan was just there…for violence to be honest.

“But, just cause it’s coming from Squi-” Not in public. “BumbleStar, doesn’t mean it’s all wrong. CobwebF…Storm…messed up. She’s dancing around in other clans business. If she’s so invested in them, she should join them. RiverClan has suffered enough. We don’t need more damage from our high ranks, the cats we’re supposed to look up too. I think I could choose a better medic from a pile of kits with my eye closed.” Don’t even get SunflowerFlare started on the hissy fits they’ve seen Cobs throw. At the previous gathering a few moons back, upon StormStars death. Pathetic.

Primroseadder wasn't one to speak out, but this just had her pissed off. ''Yeah, she messed up. That doesn't mean that they deserved ta be demoted, y'know,'' She snorted, her tail swaying behind her. Stormstar would have been pissed off, if she was still alive and in Owlstar's very place at the moment.

''Ask Owlstar to make you her Deputy, then,'' Primroseadder rasped in response to Sunflowerflare, knowing very well that it would be unlikely for the leader to choose the other she-cat. This was Primroseadder's first time talking to Sunflowerflare besides glances of her pelt in the camp.

The collapse of the Starcave does little for Lichenshock. Sure it's... kind of scary, but what if all it is is a cave in? What if there's no deeper meaning and StarClan didn't have any part in it. Coincidence. Anyway. Homeward bound!! Lichenshock follows after Crowtooth and the retreating backs of her Clan.

More trouble from RiverClan. It wasn't even surprising at this point. A murder at the WindClan border - at least Owlstar had actually taken some form of action. That was more than any of the former leaders could even say. Twoleg activity to look out for as well. She'd have to make sure Spiderthroat knew to relay that to any other patrols.

Twilightstar's comment tweaked her tail the wrong way. Granted, just about anything did these days, but she couldn't stop the curl of her upper lip. "He's not interested," she said sharply, referring to Wolfhawk. Did she know if he was actually interested or not? No. But it didn't matter. He wasn't going, and that was that.

As she stood, she kept her eyes on Owlstar. So she was capable of taking action after all. Cobwebstorm was demoted. She wouldn't have to ransack them a third... fourth?... time over this, as long as the new leader kept things going this way. Doubtful.

Regardless, Gathering over. "ThunderClan!" she barked. "Pack it up, we're headin' home!"

Oh, well that was a good choice to make. Owlstar demoted Cobwebstorm then and there. Even if the leader's clan wasn't super happy about it, no one spoke out against Owlstar's decision. It seemed that they had some sense. As far as Twilightstar was concerned, Cobwebstorm got what she deserved. All actions have consequences and walking in the dreams of other clan cats and their leader deserves a rightful punishment. She hoped the next medicine cat wasn't as nosy.

Twilightstar looks over at Hawkfur as he joins them asking to come along. She couldn't help but pin her ears back and scowl at the tom. "Excuse you, who are you calling ma'am." She replied with a light swish of her tail. "I know I'm old but ma'am makes me sound ancient, let's refrain from using the word forever." The scarred lilac leader was not pleased with the ma'am comment but the playful twinkle in her green eye took all the heat out of her fuss.

She looked over at Bumblestar as she gave her grumpy denial and left with her clan. She'd need to ensure the rest of the clan knew to be very wary around ThunderClan's border. She got the feeling that one whisker out of line would result in a full-blown whisker with ThunderClan cause of Bumblestar's prickly mood and ThunderClan's loss. She'd rather tiptoe around ThunderClan than deal with both them and the twolegs.

"You can come along if you relax on the formal speech. Don't be so nervous. Just ignore Dawnstar she's the only one who'd try to maim you for looking at her wrong." The leader shot a shrew glance at the larger leader after she glared at her. Maybe her face was just stuck resting like that. Batglare always was.

As the clans slowly departed, Twilightstar got up and beckoned the others to follow her as she led them out of the gathering and toward the StarCave.
