Hmph, it would be simply criminal for her to not go to this gathering, now wouldn’t it! With OwlStar the new leader, she was eager to see exactly how the other clans reacted (and of course if they had drama of their own). Goodness, she hasn’t gone the past few moons, and life has been so bleak! But now…now this one was here for the queen to entertain herself with. She was giddy as she followed with the crowd of RiverClanners. You could hardly see her round belly through her heavy amount fluff, and speaking of such fluff, another reason her not going would be criminal! Who would keep the little baby apprentices warm? Or even warriors? She was the perfect blanket for all! Her blue gaze gleamed upon stepping into the gathering place, it had been much too long! Now, for a friendly face to chat with while she figured out…information. It would be better to mingle around her clan for all, hopefully the leaders would be interesting enough to share drama!

Hmmm, pity. Seemed her…friend(?) was speaking to someone already…eh, whatever! She could sit quietly beside him then…probably. She pranced over to him happily, plopping herself down and curling her gain around her paws. A giddy, flashy grin was on her face, very very evidently on her face. “Heya darlin’! Sorry, don’t mean to intrude…jus’ looking for a friendly face to sit with.” she stared at him a moment, observing his shorter pelt (poor him), before her gaze flicked over to the apprentice. She flicked her tail in greeting, a softer smile meeting her expression.

Berryshine was quiet as she walked alongside Owlstar. The absence of Cobwebstorm was once again felt, even though she'd only ever been to one proper Gathering with her then-apprentice. That had been Cob's first as a medicine cat, and then... the whole Rookfire thing happened. Then she had to skip the next as punishment. Then this past one, Stormstar died, and now...

The medicine cat bit back a sigh. She just wanted... a break. A nice break to enjoy her role and tend to cats with her best friend, uninterrupted, that lasted more than a moon or two. But StarClan had other plans; she just had to... keep pushing on. Berryshine had hope that by next Gathering, perhaps all would be smoothed out — at least, enough for Cobwebstorm to be at her side. Maybe less... dead inside, too. Hopefully. It was killing her inside to see her best friend so broken after Stormstar's death. Well... if she was gonna be alone again, at least Berry herself wasn't as afraid to approach the stones anymore, though they still loomed coldly and intimidatingly before her eyes.

When her leader spoke to her, dragging her out of her lost thoughts, Berryshine met that single amber eye and nodded. The stones did not look safe, she was right about that; with how distracted she'd been, Berry wouldn't have been surprised if she'd simply jumped up by instinct and would've slipped off and knocked her noggin against the stones.

"Y-You're right... I'll help look," she assured Owlstar, dipping her head to her leader and trying to keep her teeth from chattering. Berryshine's thin pelt wasn't the most adapted to this weather, even with the thicker leaf-bare coat having grown in moons ago. It reinforced the idea to her that wherever she came from in her outsider origins, perhaps it had been meant for warmer seasons year-round. But maybe every cat felt that way, eh? They all liked to bask in the sunshine and warmth, after all.

Shaking away her distracted thoughts, the brown molly sniffed around the Seastones, looking for a smaller rock. Nudging one back over through the sand, she managed to bonk it as best she could against the large stones, shattering the thin layer of ice one pawstep at a time. Hmph... this wasn't easy, and the stone was still slick. But at least the exertion attempted to warm up some of her muscles, though it was futile with the biting wind chill.

As she worked, the strong scent of ThunderClan filled her nose, making her instinctively shiver. Even now, that forest-laden scent never failed to transport her back to that fateful day many moons ago now — not just the three-against-one raid, but the leaf-bare battle before that, when ThunderClan alone had burst into their camp. That'd been the day she'd first smelled blood and seen what a lifeless cat looked like as a kit. Needless to say, she tended to stay away from the ThunderClan border when she could.

Pricking her ears, Berryshine glanced over her shoulder right as Bumblestar marched past them and up onto the Stones, scowling. Well, that's what it looked like to Berry. The leader was clearly not pleased; she frowned to herself, wondering what sort of news that a look like that would entail.

She had finally managed to carve out a somewhat-decent path on the Seastones and made eye contact with Owlstar, giving her a nod; this should be about the best they could do, eh? Berryshine hesitated, mentally cursing the cold, before trying to scramble her way up. Instinctively, her claws slid out for a grip and scratched uselessly against the rocks smoothed by ages of wind and water. But her nimble frame managed to balance, being mindful of every pawstep until she clambered up to where the medicine cats usually sat. Wolfpaw should be here soon, she mused, if Bumblestar was already up here.

She wondered how the standoffish apprentice was faring; well, was he standoffish, or was she just.... strange, to him? Berryshine still couldn't tell. Hunching over her shoulders in the cold, and evermore wishing Cobwebstorm's fluffy pelt was here to help warm her, RiverClan's medic tried not to look too miserable as she gazed out over the assembling cats. With the tension in the air and the rage practically radiating from Bumblestar, something in her gut told her this Gathering wouldn't be as peaceful as she had dared to hope on the trek here.

This was it. His first gathering with his full name. The tripod had no idea why he was nervous. It could be because of bumblestar's mood (it hurt that it felt like she was avoiding him - he had always looked up to the leader), or just because of the judgement of other clans, especially with how young he was when they became medic in the first place. No matter, Wolfhawk hobbled behind the leader as they made it to the seastones. The tripod medicine cat saw that riverclan had already arrived... and with a new leader. jeez, three different leaders in such a short time? Wolfhawk did spot Berryshine, however.

They made their way through the two clans that have gathered, hobbling over to berryshine. "Heya," he chirped in a friendly tone. In all honesty, berryshine and the windclan medics were the only tolerable cats at the gathering. They cast one last look back at bumblestar before laying down next to the older molly. "Its freezing," he stated bluntly, puffing up his fur. He had been born around the end of leafbare (almost a season-cycle ago, even his roleplayer refused to believe it), so Wolfhawk had not known such cold until this leafbare had arrived. "So uh... how've you been?" they asked nervously as always in an attempt to strike up a conversation.

The other medicine cat. Bumblestar's head shot up and her eyes fixed on Berryshine with a smoldering intensity. Where was Cobwebstorm? Was she here?

..No. Unless she was running late, Cobwebstorm was staying behind. The first thing Bumblestar felt was disappointment. The second was a twisted sense of hope. Had the injuries carried over? When she saw the healer next, would she be missing an eye and an ear?

Bumblestar watched Berryshine for a moment longer, only turning away when she could find no signs of distress on the she-cat's face. She pressed her claws against the stone and settled her chin on her paws.

Nettlepaw quietly approached Risingstorm, sitting next to him a polite distance away as to not be too encroaching. They sat there for a while, contemplating what to say, until finally they uttered;
“Uhm.. hello.. Risingstorm.. Congratulations.. on.. becoming.. the head.. Hornet.” The green-eyed apprentice quickly gave the Hornet a nervous lop-sided smile.

Who in the world.

Salamanderpaw stares at Cougarpaw for a long moment, looking at him like he's some kind of sea-beast that's decided to crawl onto land. This is...not good. This cat seems like the worst ever, of all time, and Salamanderpaw's not at all confident in her ability to take the high road. Just be cool. Deep breath in, out. Your only job tonight is to not hit this guy.

"You're annoying." Okay but that doesn't mean she can't be real with him, right? "What are you, fresh out of the nursery? Didn't your mentor have time to tell you how to act right?" No, no, okay. Being annoying is not a crime. Goodness knows, if it were, she'd be in the same jail this guy belongs in. His approach isn't ideal, but it also probably isn't the kind of thing that really necessitates her acting like this. Maybe. Stars above, she's trying to be thoughtful about this but it's just making her angrier.

"Cougarpaw. My name's Salamanderpaw, and I'm sitting over here so that I can drag chatty little Thunderclanners into the water and drown them if I feel like it." She keeps her tone light enough that this could be interpreted as a bad joke rather than a genuine threat; Salamanderpaw would do no such thing, anyhow. It's too cold, and she's still regrettably water-averse. Mismatched eyes, blue and gold, flick over to where other Riverclanners are happily scouring the shore for choice stones. She daydreams about picking one up and denting Cougarpaw's head with it. You're being mean. But she doesn't feel nearly as bad about being mean to Cougarpaw as she once had about Slugpaw.

Speaking of whom, Salamanderpaw can't seem to find the other calico buried amidst the other Thunderclanners, but she doesn't look very hard for her. Her attention is drawn back to Cougarpaw as soon as her mouth loads back up with more meanness.

"I'm guessing you couldn't help but realize how much better my company would be compared to your clanmates'. Or is it that they all can't stand you, so you're my problem for the night?"
