Silverleopard couldn’t help but feel relieved that Bumblestar had called off the buddy system. Now that she had an apprentice - Fleapaw, Spiderthroat’s kit (which put more pressure on Silverleopard’s shoulders, because she was sure he wouldn’t be happy if his son didn’t get his proper training), she didn’t have to worry about bringing Cormorantswoop along. She could train Fleapaw herself without having to worry about others correcting her.

With that in mind, the Bengal found her paws instinctively carrying her over to the apprentices’ den. “Fleapaw?” The warrior called into the den, frosty hues narrowing against the gloom. “Once you’ve chosen your nest, meet me by the camp entrance. I’ll be taking you out for your territory tour shortly.”

Today was the day Fleapaw was going to annoy another soul, how wonderful! Though he didn't think about what nest he was going to have to pick out, as a kit he just slept next to mom. "I want to stick with Softdaisy..." He muttered all grumpy as he walked over to the apprentice den. Then a nest seemed like a perfect one, the one right in the middle of the den, that way he could easily annoy everyone around him. How wonderful. He made sure to mark the nest as his before to the camp entrance.

"Can't we learn how to fight instead? I want to fight! I want to be like a flea!" He demanded while jumping around.

Silverleopard chuckled at the white-furred tom’s demand. The warrior brushed her tail over his shoulders as she led the way out into the territory, glancing over her own to keep an eye on Fleapaw and to be sure that he was able to keep up.

“I will teach you how to fight in time, Fleapaw,” She mewed, giving his ear a swift lick. “For now, I have to take you out to learn the territory and our borders. You have to know the territory in order to learn how to hunt and fight, you know. It doesn’t just magically come to your mind whenever you call upon it. You have to have your territory and your skills memorized.”

The Bengal halted a few fox-lengths away from the tree bridge that led the way over to Herondive Hollow. “You cross first, Fleapaw. I’ll be right behind you to catch you if you fall,” Silverleopard instructed, her frosty blue hues having gone from playful to serious. “Dig your claws into the bark and use your tail for balance.”
