Wormpaw yawned as he padded out of the apprentices' den, today he was going to ask his adoptive mother if she'd assess him for his warrior ceremony. The smoky black tom with white flecks scanned the clearing, finally resting on the cat he'd found himself beginning to call mom

"Hey Mo-" He paused, was she okay with that though? He sighed, clearing his throat "Goldenwhisker?" he called out, looking around for her.

Goldenwhisker's ears perked up at Wormpaw's voice. ..mo- Was he going to say mom? She purred at the thought, but frowned when he caught himself. Oh, well. Maybe another time. What is it? She called back. She sounded uninterested, although she tried to make herself sound intruiged.

The large apprentice took a deep breath before straightening up to his full height. He cleared his throat once more "I want you to be the one to be the one to administer my assessment" He said firmly, squeezing his eyes shut tightly.

He's not sure why he expected her to say no, but he was preparing itself for anything.

Goldenwhisker looked her adopted kit up and down before giving a sigh. No. She meowed, trying to sound angry. Then, she smiled. Of course, mouse-brain! She teased, giving his ear a flick. Come'on, let's go. Wormpaw would be a warrior soon, and she'd be the one to assess him!

His eyes remained firmly shut until her first answer, a simple no, ah- okay that's-

Wormpaw's thoughts were cut off by her continuing. It furrowed it's brows, unsure of how to respond at first, oh wait- was... she being playful? He wasn't used to this light of an attitude from her, but it was refreshing and almost calming. The long apprentice let out a purr and a smile and he nudged her shoulder with his head affectionately.

The Shadowclan apprentice stepped back, looking towards her. He was about her size now that he was almost an adult, he still had yet to grow into his awkwardly long limbs and body, but he was at least better at controlling his movements now at least.

He perked up noticeably at her 'let's go', a grin plastering itself across the tom's maw "Where are we gonna go?" He asked, curiously tilting his head.

Goldenwhisker purred back. She was trying her best to be kind to her adopted kits, even if it was hard for her. Out. She replied to it's question, leading the way into the forest. Hunting was probably the best way to assess the young tom's skills. But there was one problem. The clan was on lockdown, she'd have to get one of the enforcers' permission to go out. She sniffed around, turning to her adopted son. Wormpaw, wait here. She meowed impatiently. She whisked around, padding away to go find Sleepysunrise. @seeingstars ; Wormpaw

He nodded, a slight nervousness settling in his stomach as he looked on at her, his tail tip twitching a bit as he watched her walk away, then return. Unsure of what exactly she'd done, also what she was planning.

He'd never been able to read her, and it made him uneasy at times, but ultimately he trusted her.

Goldenwhisker came back, a vole dangling in her jaws. Here, eat this. She meowed, setting it at his paws. Wormpaw would need strength for it's assessment.

He furrowed his brows, he wasn't planning on eating before it's assessment, but he did appreciate the sentiment. He ate about half of it, finding himself quickly realizing he was full "Do... you want the rest or?" He asked, tilting his head.

Wormpaw felt bad about wasting food, especially in the heart of leaf-bare, the colder it got the less prey there was in general, was him not finishing his meal bad? or was it just something that happened

Goldenwhisker shrugged, sniffing the last half of the vole. Are you sure? She meowed and took a bite when he gave the okay nod. She finished the vole, then led the way out of camp. Alright. She gave him a swift nod, and then continued. You'll need to complete a hunting task today. She mewed, narrowing her eyes. I know it's cold out, and prey is hiding, but you need to catch as much as you can. She sneezed before dipping her head. 'cuse me. She muttered before going on. I want at least two mice in the mix. This needed to be hard, but Goldenwhisker truly believed in it.
