Sunflowerpaw listened to Mountaintalon intently, her amber eyes fixed on the larger tom before her. Doing as her mentor instructed her, the apprentice planted her paws evenly against the ground and lifted a golden forepaw. “Like this?”

Mountaintalon squinted, then reached out to adjust her slightly. "A little further up, like this. There."

He cleared his throat. "A front paw strike is the simplest attack you can learn, and often very predictable, but it has its uses - to distract and disorient, or to blind and break jaws. It depends on how you use it."

Without warning, he swung a forepaw at her head - stopping short just before he would strike her. "Like this. I want you to try it on me."

Ears twitching, Sunflowerpaw lashed out at Mountaintalon with a large, golden paw. Her claws were sheathed, obviously, but if the blow landed, it would send the tom stumbling backward a bit.
