Sun in my Pumpkin Patch? It’s more likely than you’d think.

The ginger tom wasn’t up to much. He was laying in the kit corrals, having wedged himself underneath one of the roots of the tree, and was watching from the hidden spot out into the clearing. It was busy, as it always was usually, with warriors and apprentices and kits. Though he wasn’t very interested in joining them. He didn’t want to wear a mask right now, he was too sleepy. Last night had been full of night terrors that left him restless until dawn, and then the reckus of the overly packed nursery didn’t allow him any naps there either. So Patchkit had left and found himself wandering until he settled underneath the tree root. But this too was a place of unrest.

The kitten found himself narrowing his eyes for a place that would be dark, and comfy, and relatively quiet. Apprentice den? No, people go in and out too much and the chatter is too loud. Nursery was crossed out. Medicine den probably wouldn’t work. Leader’s den? Mmmmmaybe. Patchkit would have to keep that one in mind, but also he doesn’t think he wants to have to climb all the way up there right now with his stubbier legs. Sooooo the warrior den? Yes that may work, at this time most warriors would be busy or quiet in there.

So the little tom wiggled from his space beneath the root and padded over to the warriors den and ducked into the space. He swiftly passed all of the front nests and found a space in a back corner and pushed some of the moss into it so that it would be comfier to lay on. Hopefully, no one spotted him and kicked him out. He might honestly cry, maybe. The kit curled up into a little ball and closed his eyes to try and catch some sleep.

"I think I like when it rains.."

The large tom padded into the clearing. He had gone out, and was now a bit tired. Sunnypurr flicked his ears. Should he go to warriors den? Maybe. Probably.
Yeah. They'd go to the warriors den. Golden paws made their way to the warriors den.


The sunny furred warrior ducked into the den. He swished his fluffy long tail as he made his way to his nest. He blinked when he saw a multi colored ball of fluff at the back of den. A kit? Odd. He blinked and slowly made his way towards the kit.


Sunnypurr bent down to speak to the kit. "Hey there. What're you doing in here?" They asked. Their tone wasn't demanding or accusatory, just curious. The warrior inspected the kit. The ball of fluff had a pretty fur pattern. It reminded him of a pumpkin. An amused purr rumbled in his throat at the idea. The pumpkin kit! That'd be cute. He shook his head and went back to looking the kit.

Patchkit cursed Starclan even though he didn’t really believe in the afterlife all too much honestly. But he blinked his hazy green eyes open to see a warrior that he wasn’t too familiar with but they were very big even from their crouched over position and were a golden furred type feline. Luckily, they also didn’t seem to be annoyed with Patchkit being in here, though Patchkit was a bit annoyed, wanting to get away from people to nap only to be found and woken pretty much immediately. “’Eeping.” The kitten replied, words quiet and lazy with his tiredness weighing down.

"I think I like when it rains.."

The golden warrior tilted his head, whiskers twitching with amusement. 'Eeping?' Hm. Kits were funny. Sunnypurr flicked his tail. "Well, I'll let you sleep, and I won't bother you, if you can answer me a few times." The tom stated, gently grinning at the kit. He shifted into a loaf like position, his shoulders beginning to ache from crouching down for too long. "Alright, Kiddo. First of all, What's your name? Second, why are you sleeping in the warriors den? What's wrong with the nursery?" He asks, tail flicking, making , quiet dull thump against the floor of the den. There was a lot of kittens in the nursery right now, when he thought about it, especially with Twilightstar's litter. Honestly, he would sleep in the warriors den too if he was stuck with that many cats at once. Sunnypurr shook his head gently,
and focused his attention back on sleepy kit in front of him.

Patchkit huffed as the warrior decided that rather than letting a kitten who wasn't stirring any trouble up and was actively wanting Naptime, exist without disruption, he wanted to ask questions. Though he tried not to be impolite despite his sleepiness and grumpiness, he did still narrow his eyes, but the illusion of anger was broken by a yawn that snuck up on the smaller feline. "'M Pa'ch..it.. Patchkit," Patchkit corrected his first sleep-fuzzy word, "Too noisy... too many kits." Then he opened his eyes fully and blinked away the fuzziness at the corners of his eye. For a moment, perhaps in his half asleep state, he mistook the stranger. "Papa? Y...You're home?"
