It seemed each word that came from the other warrior’s mouth left her searching for answers. At first talk of ThunderClan relations had been unexpected, and now a push to head back to camp before a hunt had even begun? Rapidwhisker had barely thought up anything to reply with when Quietclaw made his typical followup, honestly the she-cat should be predicting that at this point; not waiting to be confused by the tom’s initial statement and then realize why he said it. So he was scared of the dark, that made… sense to an extent, the warrior concluded. Why the other cat thought the best method was to insinuate Kestrelstar had given the clan a curfew was beyond her, but at least it was only a few seconds before the rest fell out.
“Your secret’s safe with me.” Rapidwhisker told herself not to question the cat on it; thinking of bringing up how sunhigh had a ways to go before evening set in, or how odd a nickname Assassin was for a cat so ironically scared of both components, but decided against both. Once again, it was not her business to be critical of Quietclaw’s worries; it wasn’t like he would have cut hunting short if they’d actually made it to the river soon enough. The pair had, in all seriousness, been out for quite a while and cracking jokes or pressing the tom to elaborate on it would just serve to make him more anxious. “The training island should be just a bit further, if we see any reeds when we’re out of the woods then it won’t be long till camp.”

"Ok! I have another question! what is your favorite plant or herb?" He said "I love marigold for my herb and favor lilies as my flower." "A bit of a girlish combination, but I like em." he continued. "Marigold is used to treat infection so it is super important! and I think lilies just have a really nice color." he said. "Hmm, she is probably confused why I'm changing the topic so often. I am going to stop doing that."

The she-cat seemed more occupied with trying to spot the reeds clearly through the forest, craning for a good while to ensure they were heading in the right direction and visibly relaxing when the gentle tops of swaying cattails could be seen far up ahead.
“Hm?” Finally looking back at her clanmate, Rapidwhisker very quickly realized she hadn’t quite registered what he had just asked, having to pause and think for a moment. Searching through her mind intently for a couple of seconds, as odd as she looked stopping so suddenly, seemed to work as the question finally processed. “Never really thought about it. Probably duckweed, I guess? Poppies are nice looking, too, so probably poppy seeds.” Her response was light, surprisingly thought through despite the topic never once crossing her mind before. It was fairly interesting to look into these sorts of things, especially when the warrior herself couldn’t come up with the same quality of things to ask on her own. “Where do you come up with these questions? Not complaining, they’re fun, I’m just curious about what prompts you to ask.”

"Well, they are not exactly pre-made. I like to talk, so asking these types of questions are what I do to release the chatter without having to talk about something personal or be too intrusive." he said. "I hope, however, that no part of this becomes annoying, because I can stop if you want." he said politely. After a bit, he said: "Thanks for inviting me along...not many cats do that."

Able to focus on chatting once more, finally armed with the knowledge that they wouldn’t be long until camp, Rapidwhisker settled back into the conversation with ears angled to her clanmate as he spoke. Her tail swung idly, a little too heavy to elegantly glide back and forth, as the warrior listened to Quietclaw, giving not much more than anod here or there until the other warrior seemed to be finished his statement. “First off, you’re not annoying. At times I wasn’t sure where you were going, but that’s not much of an issue; can’t expect you to constantly double check your words just so other cats don’t have to think, you know?” At first, the short cat’s reply seemed awfully blunt, but that was clearly the extent of it. Blunt and understanding, not blunt and judgemental.
“Doubt think we can consider this a successful hunting trip, but it was still a nice walk. I’m not a fan of just talking most of the time, but you’ve managed to make it interesting which I didn’t expect.” An oddly long string of words for something social rather than factual, unusual for the she-cat. Even more unusual was how much more she was sitting on, discarding in order to not repeat herself too much; sure, the brown warrior had things to say on how prissy those who judge excited rambling were, but Rapidwhisker was actually preferring the more supportive direction the pair’s talk was heading.

"So, I have a question. Do you have an outside persona?" he said. "I mean, do you try to present yourself differently outside than inside? I do, as you can see. I try to be as quiet as possible before people really get to know me so I can find the right friends, so thanks for putting up with that."

Continuing to plod along, the feline narrowed her eyes ever so slightly. It was clear, once again, the tom had brought up a question that necessitated some thought from the warrior, though it seemed more to the tune of deep consideration than befuddlement. Gait unchanged, Rapidwhisker glanced back to the cat trodding alongside her. ”I don’t know if it’s an intentional persona per se, but I do the same thing. I don’t make an effort to dull myself around other cats, but I know who does and who doesn’t deserve to hear from me.” Perhaps that sounded odd, her face furrowed mid-sentence and the warrior paused her explanation for a moment, taking the opportunity to look up, noting how the reeds were only a few fox-lengths ahead at that point.
“I mean that in a way of… chatter, you know? Giving others a cold shoulder would be mouse-brained, but some will take to me sharing things I enjoy better than others. I guess I do seem less social on purpose, since I have no problem keeping to myself until the right cat comes along.” The warrior could follow Quietclaw’s explanation- and it made great sense. Quietclaw; fitting name, an unassuming cat, very approachable yet packing far more in terms of conversation that the she-cat initially would have guessed. Perhaps she seemed, as usual, fairly blunt. No problem with that, at least in the brown cat’s mind, it warded away any very judgemental types before she even needed to greet them.
“You’re strange. I didn’t expect half of this afternoon to happen the way it did, but it’s not a bad sort of unusual. Some may not get you, but that isn’t your issue, it’s theirs, you know? You shouldn’t have to worry about other cats thinking badly of you, that’s on them for judging too hastily.”
