Butterflypaw was trynna replace the moss in some of the dens, but she honestly has no idea where to find it right now.
She's trynna distracts herself from whatever's been bugging her, cause even she doesn't know what it is.

With the snow and cold in general, she wants to help keep others warm, but she doesn't quite know where to look.
She let out a slightly annoyed huff.

[so sorry for delayed response! ]

Flowerhawk stretched her tired legs far out behind her as she left the den, relishing the feeling before her legs went stiff again with the cold. She instantly regretted leaving, turning around to go back to sleep when the huff of an apprentice caught her attention.

Briefly conflicted, because she really wanted to go back to sleep, the warrior hesitated to do anything. But sleeping wasn’t helping the Clan in any way. The tabby stretched once more for good measure, then approached the apprentice. “What’s up?”

Butterflypaw's ears went up as someone talked to her.
Wow, she really wasn't paying attention enough.
She should've been able to hear this other cat.

"Uh, I... can't find moss for the dens." This is embarrassing.
Usually she can get her paws on moss so easily!
What's so different about today?

“Oh—sorry if I startled ya,” Flowerhawk said, as the apprentice hadn’t seemed to notice her approach. Odd, but she was probably just occupied. “I’ll help you look.” The warrior was glad to see an apprentice actually doing what they should. Would Spiderlingpaw actually do her duties if Flowerhawk asked? Maybe. She’d have to spend more time with her apprentice sometime. “It shouldn’t be too difficult to find,” she mewed as she started to look, unaware of Butterflypaw’s embarrassment.

Looking in silence would get uncomfortable, fast. They needed to have something to talk about. “How’s your training going?” Basic, but it would work to fill the space.

Her ears flattened a little when Flowerhawk said it shouldn't be hard to find.
She knows that!
Butterflypaw doesn't know why she can't find it right now!

Her training?
"It's going fine." She said.
Nothing of note, really. She thinks she's getting it done at a decent pace, at least.

Now where was this stupid moss?
This is so dumb, why can't she just find it like she usually can?
Stupid brain being weird.

Hmmm, unenthusiastic answer. And still no moss! What was up with that? With a frustrated grunt, Flowerhawk said over her shoulder, “Someone must’ve picked fis—this—area clean alro—already.” Geez, twice in a sentence. The warrior exhaled before speaking again. “Wanna try looking somewhere else?”

Butterflypaw glanced at Flowerhawk for a moment.
"Yeah, probably." She muttered, before clearing her throat and trying to force her usual cheerful demeanor back into her face "Let's go look."

She then went to look somewhere else.
Obviously, there's gotta be some somewhere.
It's moss, it can't be that hard to find.

Flowerhawk followed the apprentice, splitting off enough that they could still talk while not searching the same place. But stars, talking to apprentices was hard. Had she been this unable to keep a conversation going when she was younger? She wasn’t even that old, so it should’ve been easy to talk to someone that was, well, a good fifteen or more moons younger. That made sense, actually. But she couldn’t just sit here and talk about nothing; Flowerhawk hated the silence. Maybe she could try to relate to her about something.

“Once, when I was an apprentice—” she blurted before she’d even thought of anything. Stars, why did she do that. Now she had to continue somehow or she’d risk looking insane.

”When I was an apprentice, my mentor told me and a friend to go look for moss, just like this, and we—we spent so much time looking that we didn’t come back until sunhigh. It was hardly light outside when he sent us out.” Totally made up, but she congratulated herself for only stuttering once over the lie. Then she felt bad about it, despite the fact that it was a pretty harmless lie. Oh well, too late to go back now. “So at least this time won’t be like then,” Flowerhawk added awkwardly. ”You get me?”

Goodness, this was embarrassing. Flowerhawk swore to the stars that she would never speak again.

Butterflypawpaw's ears went up cyriously as she listened to Flowerhawk's story.
"You were... Your mentor told you to go out without a warrior?" She asked.
That seemed... well, it seemed a little weird.

Unless Flowerhawk's friend was already a warrior?
Butterflypaw's not sure.
It did make her a bit curious, so she listened still as she continued looking for moss.

Why did she lie about a story? She mentally pawed herself in the face as Butterflypaw brought up the hole in her tale. Too far in to go back now, she supposed.

”Yeah, uh… he did,” she said. “Not his best decision.” Her mentor was long since gone, anyway. Disappeared like a lot of cats did. A little white lie couldn’t hurt him now, could it? “Got in… got in a lot of trouble. But we found moss!” She grinned, cheeks strained.
