Beanstar

Beanstar released a profound sigh, full of countless concerns and anxieties. In an effortless display of grace, he gracefully leaped onto the Streamstone, his scarred pelt shining bright in the sunlight. He let out an authoritative yowl, hoping to grab the attention of any cat nearby. "All cats who can hunt, whether that be on land or in water, gather below the Streamstone!" Descending from the stone, the siamese waited as his Clanmates began to gather. After enough time had passed, he spoke once again, this time with the smallest hint of the desperation that clawed relentlessly at his insides.

"The prey pile is empty, and we need food if we are to continue to thrive," Beanstar started, flicking his tail back and forth. "I believe we can get a bounty of prey by partaking in this: a hunting competition!" He put on a brave face, masking his worry with pride. "RiverClan's competitive spirit will be more than enough to get the prey stores to overflow once again. All who wish to participate, follow me to Cattail Pond!" With that, the siamese turned tail and exited camp, leading the way to the serene spot.

The journey was quick and uneventful, leaving Beanstar with his own thoughts for only a short time. Once he arrived, he waited for the rest of the cats before explaining. "You all will have three chances to catch a piece of prey. The bigger the piece of prey, the better off you are! The winner of this contest will get first pick of the prey pile, as well as a nest in the middle of their den!" This was typically reserved for senior apprentices and warriors, though Beanstar thought a coveted sleeping spot would be good motivation for his cats.

"Let's waste no time! on your marks, get set, go!"

HOW THIS WORKS:

Before the next post I make, you will type up a roleplay post of your cat trying to hunt something! I.e., "Beanstar crouches and sniffs for prey". After 2 days, I will roll 2 d20s for each participating character. the first is to determine what type of prey your cat finds, and the second is to determine if they catch it or not! Remember that some prey is easier to catch than others, so a crow may require a higher roll to catch than a mouse! Additionally, the more difficult a piece of prey is to catch, the more points it's worth! When all is said and done, the winner will be determined by the number of points they have!

There will be 3 rounds of this; I will post rolls on the 4th, 6th, and 8th of July!

My Post (July 6th): Grouseheart rolled a 19 and a 4; she sees a rabbit, but it's too fast for her! +0 points

Your Post: Grouseheart growled, frustrated she missed such a good catch! She had once more chance though, and was ready.

My Post (July 8th): Grouseheart rolled a 14 and a 20; she easily catches a carp she finds in the water! +7 points / Grand total: 11 points

Birdpaw got started immediately, crouching down and preparing to find and catch any prey.

Briarpaw also got started, searching the first catch of the day.

Gingerfrost appeared into existence at the event, because the preypile being low is a big no-no and this is a productive way to participate in something. Here's to hoping he won't completely embarrass himself. Glad to see his apprentice here too, offering her a subtle nod should she look his way, the ginger tabby began looking for prey.

Nightspark jumped on his paws and followed Beanstar toward the Cattail Pond...


Crouching, he advanced, sniffing the air, he soon detected a smell, on his left, he perked his head to see what it was... but the piece of prey was hidden in herbs, he prepared himself and jumped...

Something something competition. That was the one word that Snowbeak needed to hear to catch his attention, the pale gray tom turning to quickly follow his leader out towards Cattail Pond. The day was quiet and calm, serving as the perfect backdrop for such a challenge. Beanstar was quick to call a start to the event, so the warrior wasted no time in slipping into a hunters' crouch, stalking around the edges of the pond with his eyes sharp and ears alert.

Oh hunting! She was so up for this kind of competition, she didn't care at all if she won anything the torbie was in it for the fun. Grinning got herself down into a crouch position and began her search for her idea of prizes.

Ferretsnap came forward at the call for a competition. He enjoyed hunting, and he enjoyed competitive things. So, he joined the growing group, immediately getting ready and setting off. He dropped into a crouch, amber eyes searching for prey.

At the call of Beanstar's voice, Wormbite rose to his paws and approached the Streamstone. After a meeting so shortly, he doubted this would be another. His misshaped ears perked up, whiskers twitching in concern. The prey pile was empty. He was swift to follow after, his jaws slightly parted to scent for prey. The moment Beansprout told them to take off, he was on the prowl. Wormbite's determination was fixated, and he was determined to bring home food for his clan. He slipped in a crouching position and searched for prey.
