Grizzlybug yawned as he walked. It was early- before dawn- but he couldn’t sleep and the warriors den had become to hot for him. The fluffy tom sighed in the cool morning air and wished he could actually feel the dew drops that he knew must have speckled his long fur by now. Why was he so damn fluffy?

A scowl wanted to form on Grizz’s face but the upbeat warrior barely knew how to go about it. He rarely scowled and he didn’t want the frown lines to start up now. Yet he felt so strangely... bleh. Like he wanted to scowl.

It had started the night before. He’d curled up in his nest and noticed the lack of fur or a body pressed against his. Grizz loves cuddling more than anything but of course he had no one to cuddle at all. The worst was when he awoke from a nightmare longing for someone to hold him and there was no one there. The tom sighed and kept walking. What would wishing get him? He just needed to get out there more and meet some new toms.

Who would want a walking pile of fluff? He didn’t look like he belonged in Riverclan at all- that must have been why he’d never had a boyfriend! He couldn’t change that, though. Ugh, why was it so hard to find someone to cuddle?

Koistream found himself by the river banks. His white paws now brown, caked in mud. He looked... exhausted. A mixture of river water, tears, and sweat left Koistream a damp mess of emotions.

Hunting with only your front paw was... More than difficult. For hours he had been here, fishing as much as he could, but the single fish and half a tail that lay besides him proved the results hadn't been brilliant.

Koistream was tense, on edge, his body trembling with exhaustion. He could barely keep his bicoloured eyes open, body drained of hope and energy, but that didn't mean he wasn't fully alert.

he jumped when he heard the approaching pawsteps, his white hackles raising automatically but the comforting scent of Riverclan had them lying flat again. "Well it seems I'm not the only early bird," He called out in greeting, letting his eyes search for the approaching figure. Koistream was lying, though. He was hardly an early bird... It didn't count if you had yet to actually fall asleep.

Grizz looked up in surprise as a voice called to him and blinked but calmed himself when he saw Koistream. The other tom looked bedraggled and exhausted and Grizzlybug’s alarm bells started ringing. His orange eyes took in the meager catch beside three muddy paws and the trembles that flowed through the warrior.

“Yeah, I couldn’t sleep. What brings you out here?”

He didn’t want to jump right into the ‘are you ok’ type conversation in case he’d misread the situation, but he hoped that Koistream wouldn’t mind that he was concerned about him. Grizzlybug walked over to Koistream and sat beside him, looking down into the water rather than at the cat beside him. They didn’t know each other overly well, though they weren’t strangers, and Grizz knew he had a tendency to intrude on personal space so he was being extra careful not to do so with the clearly unhappy tom.

Koistream sighed as the breeze travelled across the riverbank, making the fur around his neck ruffled in the chill that followed. He glanced down, watching the sight movement of smaller fish as they swam through the dark void-like water.

"I... I've been trying to hunt."

His words were slightly wobbly themselves, his body exhausted from attempt after attempt. Koistream blinked as he watched the morning light slowly trickle across the water as the sun raised itself above the horizon. "

"Would ya look at that?" Koistream chuckled as he watched, deeonh6 it was a new day made him relax a little, another day he could improve himself, work harder and harder, "Its almost as pretty as me," He teased, giving a smell playful nudge to Grizz.

"Apart from noticing the most handsome Tom in the clan was missing," Koistream batted his lush lashes, chuckling at himself, "What brings you out here?"

Grizz peeked over at Koistream as he waited for his answer, noticing the other tom’s expression as the breeze drifted over him. Grizz himself enjoyed the cool air as well as it lifted his heavy fur for just a moment. The chill almost touched his skin and he liked the coolness. To be honest, that was something that would pull him out of his nest this early- a break from the heat.

Koistream’s words seemed a bit broken to Grizzlybug but he quickly realized why. Hunting fish with one paw must have been pretty difficult. Yet, Grizzlybug has no idea what to say to even begin to make that better. Before he could come up with something, Koostream spoke again and turned Grizz’s attention to the trickle of orange that seeped from the sun.

He was taken off guard by Koi’s smooth inclusion of his own attractiveness and it made him chuckle. However, the batted lashes and the teasing words brought a fluttery feeling to Grizz’s chest and he realized that they were playing now... sort of flirting? But also still sad. Oh well, it was lucky that Grizzlybug was the best flirter in the world!

“Handsome man where?”

What? That made no sense. Grizz cleared his throat and tried again, hoping to avoid another squeak in his voice like he’d had with that statement.

“Erm... I mean, th-there’s a handsome cat here... and it’s you?”

Hmmmm not quite. Sighing, Grizzlybug gave up and just mumbled,

“You’re handsome.”

It still didn’t quite work since Koistream had literally just said that, but it was the best Grizz could do. Ears flattened and eyes pointed out the ground while embarrassment warmed his skin, Grizz moved on hastily to answer the question.

“Couldn’t sleep...”

Koistream let his head tilt to the side slowly as he watched the larger Tom fall over flustered words. He usually had that effect on cats but who wouldn't find themselves a blushy mess around yours truly?

Even so, he felt the heat touch his own white cheeks as he watched the Dawn's light paint Grizzlybug in beautiful shades of orangea and purples. Apparently Koistream wasn't the only handsome Tom here.

With a clear of his throat, Koistream smiled at him. But as quick as his smile appeared, the three legged tom had disappeared into the cooling summer waters.

"Come take a dip! We don't need a forest fire because of just how hot you are, big boy." He purred the words out, the vibration of content sounds making the water under his throat vibrate.

Once a few tails lengths out, he turned to face the other. Koistream let his blue-green eyes take in the large Tom's fluffy form. Were all the cute cats Shadowclan born?

Grizzlybug could only hope Koistream hadn’t noticed his flustered rambling; he was usually more suave! (No, he wasn’t.) The fluffy Tom peeked up at Koistream in an attempt to gauge his reaction but the other didn’t seem to be laughing at him or acting weirded out so he straightened up the rest of the way. The breeze suddenly caught his fur and sent it away from his face, which he was grateful for, and the rising sun’s light warmed his face comfortably. It really was a beautiful morning. Not as beautiful as that cat, though...

Suddenly, Koistream was in the water and telling him to join. Grizz was about to decline as he always did when something involved him and his fluffy butt in the water, but then he caught on to the last part of Koi’s words. It felt like the forest fire was in him! He blushed and gave a shy smile, feeling strangely more flustered than usual.

But, he couldn’t disappoint Koistream after that so he gingerly dipped a foot into the water before sliding the rest of his weight in. The cool liquid felt wonderful on his heated body, but he could already feel the drag of the current on his long fur. Still, he looked up at Koistream and offered his best attempt at a smile.

“I-er don’t usually swim... all the fluff, you know.”

Koistream circled him like a hungry shark! Maybe that was what he was? Hungry a cuddle, someone to call him his own, god knows he bad some weird thing going on with everyone who didnt reject him on the spot.

"I dont judge, I just think a little dip wouldn't heart. I could always help groom you up afterwards?" He flashed a cheeky smile. The real reason he wanted to swim was to clean the muck off of his three little paws, he couldnt be so dirty around a beauty like Girzzlybug! no no.

"Maybe after this we could go cuddle up in the warriors den?" He suggested, his head and little bobbed tail being the only thing surfaced in the water now.

The water felt wonderfully cool and it played through his fur in a way that reminded him of sharing tongues. Maybe swimming wasn’t so bad. Then again, the water also dragged at his fur and he couldn’t ignore the stressful feeling of his heavy coat dragging him down. Even so, it was worth it when Koistream smiled at him. The mentioning of grooming made heat flare up on Grizz’s cheeks and he gave a shy smile.

“Well, that’s worth getting a little wet!

The second advance was much more forward than Grizzlybug was used to and he could only smile and nod. That sounded wonderful! He couldn’t believe that this handsome of a tom wanted to cuddle up in the warrior’s den with him! In Grizzlybug’s excitement, he paddles deeper and swam around in a circle with just his fluffy head above water, the soggy fur of his neck sticking close to his skin.
