RiverClan Patrols

Sharkhail could not say he was much of a guy for herbs. They never really seemed to stick in his head what they did but that was fine, he could remember what they looked like and the medicine cat could remember what they did. He came as quickly as he could since patrols were so important. What if one of his kits got hurt?!

That thought almost made him sick. Literally. He needed a moment to calm down and take a few breaths. If they ever did get hurt he would know that 'fafa' as Batkit called him, helped them by bringing the herbs to the medicine cat. If they ever did get hurt though, the medicine cat would probably need someone to keep the protective father out of the den so he wasn't hovering.

"Eaglepaw..." He tilted his head and studied the young apprentice. Stars, they reminded him of his kits. He needed to protect this child from harm. He would destroy anything that showed as a threat. "You look capable." He said coldly before looking off. He didn't want to seem overly caring for the kid to not make things weird but stars did he want to fix their fur on their head.

Hearing the patrol call, GarlicFeather slinked over glancing around, when his name was called he perked up a little it had been quite a while since his last patrol. He really ought to get out more, sitting around all day was going to turn him into a slug if he stayed any stiller. With that thought installing newfound energy he gave a curt nod at MistyShard and repeated the herbs in his head memorising the appearance. Blessed thistle, odd, got hairs on its flowers andd wavy rippled leaves. Hair, wavy rippled, odd. Got it with that memorised tried to do the same with the comfrey, clusters o’ drooping tubes, large oval leaves. Seems obvious enough. He glanced over the gathered cats, now to look for a Cormorant paw and someone named FallenWish. He tried to make it obvious of his whereabouts and draw himself up as much as he could in terms of height, being easy to pick out from a crowd wasn’t always as easy but today it seemed like the minimal number had his advantage. Awaiting the two to come over would be a lot more than annoying, but he had some hope they weren’t slackers.

Marigoldleap stood at the camp entrance about ready to head out to hunt when she heard her name get called for an herb patrol with Cobwebpaw. Hopefully the apprentice was up to it. Must of been hard not getting chosen, but maybe it was for the best. Look at her former apprentice Bounceberry he had started off as a full medicine c at while still being a paw. She had seen how stressed out he had been even with her beside him. She didn't wish that stress on any apprentice. Not when they had a full life ahead of them. Marigoldleap stood there waiting for the apprentice to hopefully show up.

Eaglepaw perked up when she heard her named called for patrols. The apprentice padded over, curiosity sparkling in her gaze. She would get to go on a patrol with Mistyshard! Aw yeah! Maybe she could bug the medicine cat for some lessons later... if she felt up to it, of course. Eaglepaw would never take up time someone couldn't give her. Sharkhail was already by Mistyshard, and Eaglepaw trotted up, looking a little sheepish. "Hi! So sorry--" She felt herself being scrutinized by Sharkhail, and paused so he could better look at her. She knew she should probably meet his gaze but every time her eyes ghosted across his she felt like a squirming mouse under a paw, and ended up looking away.

Capable. He had called her... capable. Eaglepaw mouthed the word, tasting how it felt in her mouth. The young apprentice's maw slowly stretched with a big grin, front paws kneading the ground happily. She looked up at the two warriors. Or, warrior and medicine cat. "I won't let you down!!"

Tulippaw listened to their new Medicine cat's words. Chervil... Borage... Seemed easy enough. Maybe. The apprentice wasn't quite sure how herb patrols worked. But hopefully she'd be able to remember the descriptions that the medicine cat had given them.

What was even more irritating was the fact that she hadn't had proper training or a proper mentor really. So that meant she hadn't been on any territory tours at all. Nor had she gone on any patrols yet. You'd think that an apprentice would be excited about something like this, but the wounds that Beanfloat may ir may not have intentionally left stung, and she didn't really even want to try pretend like they didn't anymore.

With that, the young apprentice looked around and waited for Doedapple and Spottedstream

You know, Redmire would have no qualms being ordered about by someone older than her unless they were just saying downright stupid things. But this? This was just insulting. Her tail smacked the ground as she sat up at the sound of her name, ears swiveling forward and then back again when she realized it was Mistyshard. Her claws flexed and she drew them back in before standing. The only reason she was even doing this was because RiverClan needed some actual dedication for once.

Mistyshard wasn't spared so much as a glance as Redmire passed her and moved to stand near the camp entrance. "Stickpaw!" she shouted. "Snails-for-legs, let's go! We're losing time already!"

Stickpaw was absolutely snoozing. The apprentice needed the break, so when his name was yowled across the camp…they didn't show. He hadn’t even heard it the first time until her patrol mate called a second time. Stickpaw can feel a small wave of exhaustion run over her pelt as she shakes it off them. Wiping their eyes swiftly before trying to answer Redmire. He leaves the apprentice’s living quarters and into the clearing. “Sorry, sorry! I was tired, I didn’t hear the first time. Also, don’t call me a snail. Cause you’re uh…lame!” Stars she was terrible at this.

Stickpaw shakes the remaining sleepy feelings from their white paws as he follows after Redmire. She wasn’t even that much older than them! She was just a huge meanie face! ):<

Mistyshard headed back to RiverClan camp, coming from the Smallpines border. She hoped Rainfoot and Deerspark would be following her. Once she arrived in camp she found Dusklion and gave the Head Lionheart a curt nod. "We checked the border, everything was normal and we made the scent strong. No trouble - Rainfoot and Deerspark were on time as well."

After putting his herbs in the proper place, Dunepounce returned to the patrol area to issue his report. “Found a small patch of dandelion and took a bit of it. Left some, so here’s hopin’ more will grow. N’ then Starlingflight’s brought back some moss too.” He punctuated his report with a short nod then went on with his day.

cobwebpaw yawned, stretching her paws out in front of her and waking. drowsily, she padded over to marigoldleap, waving her tail in greeting to the older warrior. ' hey. ready to go? ' she purred, choosing to ignore the anger and sadness swirling in her gut and focus on this patrol instead.
