Smokefern's one remaining ear flicked as she heard her own name, the only hint to her surprise. An apprentice? One of Dawnstar's children no less? That was unexpected, to say the least. Starclan, she would be busy soon. Busy, but surely manageable. With one last glance towards her mate, Smokefern stood up and padded towards Adderkit.
The dark gray and white cat tried to look pleasant as she approached her new apprentice. Tried. It was a faint smile on otherwise impressively neutral features. Right, she should say something other than just stare. It would be wrong to give the wrong impression right off the bat. "Looking forward to mentor you." she murmured, leaning down to touch noses Adderpaw.
To say Peachfuzz was proud of her mate was an understatement, the large, fluffy molly was beaming , eyes alight jn excitement, grinning at Smokerfern.

and now the two kits that decided to show up became apprentices. the half-blind tabby watched as dawnstar gave them mentors before making her way down. the small apprentice stood up, green eyes fixed on the leader.
finally, it was time for her to speak. cloverpaw hadn't been a fan of speaking since lostspark's death, but this was the one time she was happy to. he hoped that his former mentor was proud of him now. "i do," they spoke louder than normal, standing as tall as the small tabby could.

Luckily for Bleedingpaw, the younger apprentice was not like her siblings. She preferred not to cover herself in the sticky, stinky goo that Houndpaw seemed to thrive in. So, the words that Bleedingpaw shot towards her made her gasp dramatically. She'd loll over, splaying out beside him with her forelegs straight ahead of her and her back legs behind her. Her tail would whip around behind her, sending trickles of moisture through the air. Nothing damaging... yet. However, that big fluffy tail would soon accumulate flecks of mud that would spray through the air, disguised by the moisture she was already flicking about.
"I would NEVER!!" Scorp half-purred out, her amber eyes studying her Mama on the Grimpeak. Maybe one day she'd follow in her Mama's pawsteps and be up on that rock? Or maybe that one day is the day she decides to climb up the Grimpeak during these announcements... that day may come soon.
Flick, flick, flick.
Her tail kept flicking behind her. A mix of unknowing mud flicking and an intense thought process as she pondered the likelihood she'd get up the Grimpeak without being yeeted down by Mama. "Lookie, lookie! Adders finally got their apprentice name!" Scorp pointed out her sibling beneath the peak, her eyes lighting up.
Her gaze flickered to the next set of cats in line. New warriors! She wondered what their names would be. "Bleeders, when do you think you're becoming a warrior?!" She'd ask, looking at the feline she was laying beside. "My mentor hasn't taught me anything, I don't think I'll ever be a warrior," she'd frown slightly, her gaze unfocusing for a moment. The irritation that built up made her tail flick more, snapping out of the trance whenever Bleedingpaw would speak up.
Hawkbite remained silent, listening to the announcements from the edge of the clearing. He didn't really want to drag himself through the mud when he could listen find from his area of the camp. So far, it was the usual stuff. Some apprentices, some new warriors, however, it appeared Dawnstar was less annoyed than normal. The tabby would watch the two apprentices say their vows, ready to chant their names when Dawnstar permitted.
'Would never'? 'WOULD NEVER'????? Excuse you you little brat WHO was it that played cat-mud bowling last meeting??? Who was it that sent the pretty bengal into the mud completely soaked and filthy?
Bleedingpaw hoped his narrow eyed indignant look spoke volumes here, especially since Scorpionpaw was already flicking mud everywhere with that tail.
He allowed himself to be distracted from his glaring however, peering over the many cats heads in front of him to look at the new apprentices. "Good for Adderpaw. Is she the last kit of your group or is there still more to be apprenticed?" It happened sometimes, litters not going at the same time due to some just not showing at the right time to others needing more time to mature. But if there were any left it was kinda dragging at this point.
"Next moon. Im gonna ask for my assessment to be with your mother and soon." Though he still felt doubtful if he would pass it. He was gonna get trounced in the battle portion, no matter who but Dawnstar especially it would be bad. He had a plan, a good plan, but the question was if it'd pass muster.
The tom frowned at Scorpionpaws sorrow, reaching down to pat her on the head "That isnt your fault. Some mentors are just bad mentors Scorps, you'll find other cats to train you and do great. I wouldnt worry about being a warrior quick though, best to learn everything well then barely anything fast.
Talk to Mr Hawkbite (actually wait no, hes busy of late), Mrs Brairsplash and Mr Newtbelly they were really good when training me and Im sure would be happy to tell you. Also tell your mother your mentor is bad so you can get transferred to a better one, maybe Mrs Brairsplash given Im graduating from her soon so she'll be free." Once Scorpionpaw had some battle training going on patrols or sparring could fill time better and help her feel not as bad when waiting for training. Bleedingpaw would happily help the sparring part, and if training still didnt happen maybe in a moon he could help fix that issue directly.
Mushroomkit stayed a few pawsteps back and sat back on her haunches rather than a full sit, wanting to show Adderkit that she would be right here, only a tail length ( if even ) away. That everything was okay! Everything was more than okay! It was time! Dawnstar started to speak again, acknowledging the kits that showed up and soon they were all given their proper names. Adderkit was now Adderpaw! Adderpaw!! She could barely contain her excitement and as soon as there was another pause in the meeting as Dawnstar waited for the new warriors to be responses.
The russet kitten kind of stopped listening then, her sister scolding her lightly for the lack of respect to her side, but Mushroomkit was more focused on bounding up to Adderpaw. She wasted no time in headbutting the larger feline affectionately, purring louder than ever before. She was so happy that her friend was an apprentice, "Adderpaw! Adderpaw! Oh how do you feel? Is it cool! Do you know Smokefern? Maybe next moon I'll be made an apprentice and we can share a nest.. or maybe have nests next to each other?" The kitten paused for a moment, as though thinking before coming to a conclusion.
"Older cats don't share nests anymore do they? That's a kitten thing, hmm... well we can anyways, only if you want?"

Honeypaw! She was an apprentice. Maybe life would start picking up a little now that her roleplayer finally had a reason to use her. Honeypaw craned her neck looking for her new mentor. Magpiecove. Sounded nice enough, or at least she hoped! Although she was excited to meet her new mentor, the familiar dread of meeting someone new crept up her spine, and suddenly she didn’t want to be an apprentice anymore. Smile fading, she looked around anxiously for Magpiecove.
rookfires angular head turned in the direction of his leaders den at the sign of movement. dawnstar, dark and imposing as ever, glanced at the clearing before moving towards the grimpeak. the warrior himself shifted, pushing himself onto his paws and avoiding the muddy puddles as best he could on the way towards the grimpeak. by the time he sat down again, the leaders voice boomed across the clearing and more and more clanmates gathered. a whole bunch of unknown cats, vaguely familiar by sight only, cloverpaw, whom should be earning their full name this gathering, ah mudslide. rook gave the enforcer a nod, shifting to sit closer to one of the few familiar faces.
Mudslide hated mud. Haha, yes, very funny, definitely, definitely funny, not annoying at all. She hated the feeling of it more than snow, because at least snow was something she could grip onto if it was sturdy enough, mud on the other paw was bound to be a slippery nuisance, coating her fur in caky layers.
The Enforcer shuffled into a spot, her eyes so narrowed her heterochromatic hues were nearly invisible, like she was closing her eyes while also squinting really hard. Despite her hindered vision, she could tell when Rookfire shuffled closer to her, and his smell was really a determining trait. He still smelt like the medicine den, that stingy herbal smell that most medics carried, former or not.
Mudslide didn't acknowledge him. He wasn't speaking to her. Even then, she still wouldn't talk to him. It's not like she disliked Rookfire, Mudslide just didn't feel like talking, at all, especially with puddles matting the fur around her paws. Marbled ears perked as she listened to apprentices getting their rank and receiving mentors. She was rather glad her name was no on that list. Two was already a nightmare.
