Bitternglade... What a cool name that was. Hearing it called out from around him just made it that much cooler. Basically radiating pride at this point, he waits for the chanting to stop before making his way back over to his sibling, gently headbutting it's shoulder with a pleased trill.
The next announcement however catches him off guard. Grousepaw was missing and Rookfire was taking over? How... Interesting. He didn't know the enforcer that well at all but... Nevermind. It wasn't his place to question Dawnstar's words.

Mother was talking about names and attributes and a bunch of things Emberkit couldn't yet understand as they steered their siblings towards Mistlewhisker.
Emberkit had expected everything to go smoothly once they reached the molly, but Weepingkit, in a surprising fit of rage, attacked the Deputy. Emberkit watched incredulously for a moment, utterly stumped as to why Weepingkit would do such a thing, before Mistlewhisker gently removed him. Emberkit went and sat beside her weepy brother, cleaning his face. "Fierce. Strong. Good." Even if he attacked the wrong cat, he was still showing strength. Emberkit gestured with her tiny tail to Mistlewhisker. "Mother likes. We must like, too." Because Mother knew best, and those she held in her circle were Good.
The crowd erupted into cheers, startling the kits at Mistlewhisker's paws. Names... new names. One day, each and every one of Dawnstar's kits would be up their, getting their names. Emberkit didn't cheer, just watched the newly named apprentices, warriors and medicine cat apprentice bask in their glory. That would be her some day.
Troublesome? She wasn't troublesome! She just wanted up!! Venomkit's ecstatic face twisted with confusion at the comment her Mother hissed. Grip weakening, it was actually
quite fortunate when Dawnstar swooped her up and relieved the gruesome effort she'd made to attempt to climb up the stump, yet still a hiss of protest left her maws as she was yoinked from the activity she had put so much strenght into achieving. Why couldn't she sit with her Mammy?!
Squirming defiantly as the toygress attempted to escape her mother's strong jaws, the attempt was fruitless. Even as she kicked out and swung wildly she was still handed over to a large, one eyed she cat. Shaking out her pelt, she stared at her Mammy, irked by her telling off. "Hmph! I ain't a pest" A mix between a growl and a whine rumbled in her throat. Mammy would one day see she wasn't annoying at all! She just wanted to be the best and spend time with her! That was all!
The irritation was evident on the way the kitten held herself now; slouched posture, a sour froen and fidgeting restlessly at Mistlewhisker's paws - a stark contrast to her proud and bouncy gait The urge to attempt her stunt again was overwhelming. Venomkit was fairly aware that if she tried it again harsher punishment would be enforced though...ugh, this was the worst. Her sulking was soon cut short as Adderkit appeared and tapped her paw.
And the same chesire grin appeared on her face. Addy thought she was cool!!! "Heheh, I'll be real sneaky next time!" Cackling she attempted to playfully headbut her sister's shoulder "Soon I'll be able to scale up it faster than you can think! I'll teach you after I manage it!" Venom didn't plan on letting her sister out do her in climbing yet she would be thrilled to share a fraction of her coolness with her(which was still a lot in her opinion.)
Amber-green hues snapped to her Mother once more as she called up some random kits for...ceremonies? What were those? And why was her Mammy giving them attention?! A small snarl escaped her fangs as she glowered at the gathering kittens. Did her Mammy love them more because they were getting ceremonies??? Her and her llittermates were way more awesome! Venomkit would ensure they'd get their ceremonies no matter what!!!
Giving one last glare at the to be ceremony getters, the toygress inclined her head so high to look up at Mistlewhisker, the back of her head gently pressed against the dark molly's chest. "Misssstleee, we want our ceremonies!!!" The loud demand was made on behalf of all her siblings. Of course the braided tabby was unaware who could give them what they wanted but if Mammy left her and Addy with her then she must be cool! Venom already liked her!
[FONT="Georgia]
Her mind soon wandered away from the strange kit, who had been staring in her general direction, when her Mother was suddenly calling names. Were the rest of her siblings here too? As she looked around in search of her siblings she went over the names once more in her head. Midnightkit, Hollowkit, Lightningkit- those didn't sound like her siblings names. Green orbs focused on the three kits that had stepped forward and now stood at the foot of the tree stump, similar to how her and venom had but without the climbing. Oh those must be the kits mother was calling. Adderkit was slightly confused too why her mother had left her and Venom here with Tall Lady and then chose to pay attention to these nobodies instead of her own two parasites! Jealousy was the name of what she was feeling, maybe a bit of envy too. Her ears tuned out the rest of her mother's words as she focused on everyone else reaction to this event? That's when she heard Venomkit's words to Tall Lady- Mistle something. "Yeah, I would also like my ceremony.." She piped up alongside her sister, staring straight up at Tall Lady. She was unsure exactly what ceremony was but she wanted it too!
Once again she was not prepared for the loud shrieking to break through the air and attack her ears, her reaction was much quicker this time atleast. Raising both paws, the moment the dreadful sound began, she cover both her ears and let out a hiss of both pain and annoyance. She had no troubles recognising the voice, one of her louder and more obnoxious siblings: Scorpiankit. Unlike Adderkit, her sister seemed to really want her presence to be known. According to what she was shouting, Weepingkit was out here too, Adder had half the mind to go find her brother and drag him to safety but that job was being handled for her. Emberkit was already making their way towards her, Venom and Mistle. Taking with him weeping and we'll...she was taking Scorpian too? As long she stopped screaming adder wouldn't mind.

Then like a beacon of light, he heard. Everyone probably heard her, but all that really mattered was that he had. "Scorpi!" Weepingkit sniffled and clumsily got to his paws, tripping over his feet a few times, while pushing around the trees known as cats to reach his sister. The young tom tried to butt his head against his sister's chin as he neared the loud one, ecstatic to see her. He parted her maw to tell her about his crazy adventure when more of his siblings showed up.
"Ember," He greeted, panic and fear swiftly subsiding in favor of happiness and excitement. He parted his maw to tell his sibling about his adventure, but she was nudging him in a direction. He went along with the nudging not seeing any reason he shouldn't. He spotted his other sisters and lit up like the sun ready to run over to them, well in truth it was more like hopping than running.
"Adder, Venom, Weep--- Ahhh!" The kit squeaked, froze, arched his back, and fluffed his tail when his orange eyes found a giant hovering over his sisters. The cat was not as giant as Momster, but a super big giant regardless. He didn't know that cat, he thought he might have seen the dark tall lady in Momster's den before, but Weepingkit didn't know her. How come Emberkit made them come over to a stranger, Weepingkit didn't like strangers.
Momster warned him against strangers and bad cats that would try to steal him and his siblings. He didn't know what bad cats looked like, but he didn't know her, and she had his littermates so that was all the justification he needed. Stilfing his blind terror, Weepingkit parted his maw as wide as he could and lunged forward trying to latch his little teeth around Mistlewhisker's front paw as hard as he could. Yup! The weeping kitten with the overactive imagination was determined to save his siblings. He'd gnaw off this lady's foot if he had to.
Weepingkit would bite down a tad bit harder when the yowls from a bunch of cats started, spooking him. He didn't know how to deal with loud noises that didn't involve one of his siblings so biting harder seemed like the right thing to do to him.

It was rather difficult to ignore the kits at her paws and focus on Dawnstar's words, the Deputy shuffling slightly to accomodate the wiggling of the chittering babies in front of her. When Venomkit and Adderkit looked up at her, demanding ceremonies, Mistlewhisker fixed them both with a wry stare. "If you keep interrupting the meeting, you'll never get your apprentice ceremonies. All in due time." They were much too young to be apprentices, but because of their size, they might be apprenticed a little earlier than most. "Now hush. Listen to your mother speak. This is a good opportunity to learn how the clan works, little ones."
Dawnstar continued with the ceremonies, but a shrill voice piped up in the crowd, interrupting the leader once more. Mistlewhisker sighed, beginning to push herself to her paws to grab whatever nuisance was making that noise, but it seemed a rather intuitive little kit had already done so. Weepingkit and Scorpionkit emerged from the crowd, Emberkit gently pushing them forward. The Deputy watched the trio approach, Dawnstar's continued ceremonies and announcements fading to the background.
The large feline moved her tail out of the way so they could join Venomkit and Adderkit tucked between her paws, but it seemed that the ever-crying Weepingkit had decided that enough tears had been shed, and that Mistlewhisker was a monster eating his siblings. Tiny teeth sank into her paw, and the Deputy blinked at him. Frankly, if her brows kept rising due to all the incredulous things she was dealing with recently, they might disappear behind her ears. Mistlewhisker let Weepingkit have his heroic battle for a few heartbeats, focusing on ensuring Scorpionkit and Emberkit didn't disappear back into the crowd to cause issues, then gently extracted herself from his grip. She leaned down, fixing him with her one-eyed stare. "Fear not, Weepingkit. I have no intention of harming you or your siblings." In fact, Mistlewhisker was pretty sure that if anything threatened these kits, she would string up the perpetrator and flay half their body, leaving them to suffer in agony while their blood slowly dripped into the marshes and made the waters run red. "Come, let's listen to your mother." Her tail remained swept to the side, an invitation for the trio to join her, Venomkit and Adderkit.
Emberkit made a comment that had Mistlewhisker frowning, but she couldn't but in before the crowd erupted into cheers, chanting the new warrior names and one familiar one. Mistlewhisker sifted through the last several sentences of Dawnstar's speech, realizing that Rookfire was the new medicine cat apprentice. Something like disappointment smoldered in her chest, but the Deputy quickly snuffed it. Rookfire had been an exemplary Enforcer, and his absence would be a great loss. But he seemed genuinely happy, so Mistlewhisker would accept it. The Deputy attempted to catch the new healer's eye and give him a nod, if he would stop giving Mossfreckle moony eyes for more than one heartbeat.
The Deputy called the names just like everyone else, pleased to see three new warriors join their ranks. Once the cheers died down, Mistlewhisker addressed the five kits at her paws. "You do not have to like me, Emberkit. Form your own opinions, do not let anyone sway you." Mistlewhisker would have LIKED for Dawnstar's kits to like her, but she was not going to beholden them to her will.
As ceremonies wound down, Mistlewhisker braced herself for the next few announcements. Her pale eye sought out the familiar pelt of her friend. Darkfall had been through so much in the last moon. She only hoped he wouldn't let it kill him.

Look at Bitternpa- Bitternglade. His brother was growing up. He didn't mind that it was without him. Starry pelt slowly fading into the living world, he padded up to his brother. "Bitternglade. I'm proud of you." he purred softy, nuzzling his brother. Turning towards Leapingpaw, he beckoned for it to come over. Ruffling his sibling's head fur, he gave a mischievous smile. "You'll get there one day! Maybe. Probably, but who knows?" he said with a smirk on his face.

| Silverlark | 20 Moons - StarClan Warrior
Shadow Fiend - Inactive | Just a Scratch - Inactive | Beefed Up [Tier 3] - Inactive | Spirit Encounter [1] - Active
White toes wiggled giddily as the star studded warrior awaited Dawnstar's next words, his chest swelling with pride as Flashies took the vow to defend the clan with her life, a vow that he knew she would always keep. Flashies was good folk, yep yep. She was the best. Silverlark was a sad tom, mmhmm. When he realized that he wouldn't be able to continue training her. Because! Because. Listen... listen... He was a good mentor, okay? A proper mentor. Not like Shadestink and Shadowstinkier. He took care of his apprentice, oh yes. Until... you know... He couldn't.
The former ShadowClan enforcer had no idea what had gone wrong. One day he was suddenly sick. Couldn't keep up. His mind got all foggy, yo. Couldn't tell friend from foe. And he wanted to go chomp chomp on everyone he saw which... not cool, ya dig? And he'd thought... you know? He'd thought to come back and visit Flashies in her dreams. She was so sad, mmmhmmm. She needed a biiiig hug. Biggest hug ever. Silverlark approved hugs were the best hugs. Rising said so, heh heh.
But then? Then he realized something, yeah? Oh yes. The same reason his mum never came to him in dreams. Or Hazely. Or any of the other cats he lost.
It wouldn't be fair to Flashies for him to keep holding on and not let her move on. It wasn't his time here with the living. Not anymore. But Flashies? Flashies had the whole world in front of her. A future that was as bright as her, mmmhmmm. If only... you know... she could let go.
Now... not intervening in her day to day was one thing. She had to find her own way, yeah? Yep! But not being here for her ceremony? BAHAHAHAHA! Don't make him laugh. He wouldn't miss that for the world! This was his Flashies, after all! And he would scream and yell and shout out her warrior name to the stars for everyone to hear, mmmhmmm. It was big time to celebrate, and he intended to bring the sky down with him to do so, heh heh.
As Dawnstar spoke, Silverlark's rounded ears perked up, an audible gasp escaping him because... Because! Because. Look, he didn't know if Dawnstar did this on purpose. If this was her way of remembering him in some way - Dawnstar was the best, she was always taking care of everyone in ShadowClan no matter how busy she was, after all, mmmhmmm - or if it was just a coincidence but.... Flashmouse?! Mouse?! Why! He had been a paw by the name of Mouse once upon a time! He had been a Mousekit too! Back when he was young! He'd just... outgrown his name, he supposed. Didn't really look like mum's little mouse once he was a warrior. Not anymore.
But Flashies?! Oh this was... Oh, where these tears?! Yep, that was it! He had happy tears now! Because! Because now Flashies would know! Just like he did deep down when he took on Auntie Larky's old name. That there would be a part of him with her always, no matter what! That she could live her life and be free... and once it was time to join the stars? He'd be there to guide her home. But in the meantime?
"WOOOO! FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! YOU GO! Oh! Oh! Spiderthorn and Bitternglade too! BUT FLASHMOUSE! FLASHMOUSE! YAY FLASHMOUSE!" Silverlark chanted, adding in the two new apprentices he was admittedly not familiar with as he cried out his former apprentice's name, throwing a proud, chest puffed out, open mouthed grin at Flashies as he did.
He wasn't long for this world. His visit was coming to a close. He could feel the tug of the stars the longer he called out Flashmouse's name. And yet he was satisfied. Having been able to spend one last moment with her as she entered the next stage in her life... He'd always been a simple tom with simple wants. And to be there for his apprentice's naming ceremony? That was the last real want he could have ever asked of the after life.

Midnightpaw ★ Non-Binary - They/Them (Afab) ★ Shadowclan App ★ 10 Moons ★ Straight ★ Mentor: Redleaf Midnightpaw purred excitedly at their mentor. "Yes please," they mewed. They were so excited for their first training session with Redleaf.
The scarred ruler of ShadowClan observed her clan as they celebrated all the new ranks, and listened as Rookfire and Spiderthorn thanked her and made their little vowes. The leader would remember their words and happily hold them against them if they proved anything less. Her golden glare located her spawn again, Emberkit gathered them all together, except for Houndkit who was fine so long as he wasn't getting into trouble.
Weepingkit was biting Mistlewhisker for reasons unknown. She appeared to be taking it well, but the sight still bothered the leader. She would have to cuff him later for it and introduce what remained of her family to the kits so issues like this don't arise again.
"Reassignments. Turtlepaw and Stormtail, Ibispaw and Hawkbite, Batpaw and Briarsplash." She wasted little time on those and moved on to more important matters.
"Newtbelly and Owlthroat found a fox in the Mourning Ruins and managed to kill it sustaining some injuries. While fighting, the fox disturbed a massive rat nest within the Ruins. The rats fled during the battle but from Owlthroat's report, there were hoards of rats. He figured they'd settle somewhere else in our territory and unfortunately, he's right. Yellowtwist's body was found in the territory covered in rat bites and cuts with tufts of rat fur between his claws." If only this was the worst news she had to deliver.
"We've lost four more clanmates during this past moon." Dawnstar grits her teeth as the fur along her neck bristles. "Lostspark drowned in Darkwater Mire with Icethroat and Hailneck, Darkfall reported that a passing outsider saw the three of them drown together. I don't know why they were there, how they drowned, nor why they were in the waters in the first place. All I know is that all three are gone. I don't want cats within five tail lengths of the water at the mire until I confirm some speculations. Anyone who disobeys my order will be exiled immediately. I will be having the Enforcers help monitor the Darkwater Mire, this is the only warning you'll be getting." Dawnstar hissed commanding.
Grief had swept through the she-cat like a wave, leaving bitter anger and cold acceptance in its place. Lostspark was a new scar etched into her heart, another loss that pain will lessen with time, not heal, not cure, only lessen, another memory to haunt her for the rest of her lives.
"Sunpaw was out alone and was killed by a badger. Darkfall and Sleepysunrise managed to kill the badger in return. Once again, I don't know why Sunpaw was out alone, but whatever the reason that made her so disobedient it cost her her life." There was no sympathy for idiots who could not follow simple rules.
"On top of all that, Fishkit decided to sneak out of camp and got attacked by a fox. Nightshiver, the responsible forever queen she is, went after the hairball with Hawkbite, who managed to kill the fox. Both Kit and Queen were severely injured, thanks once again to cats not following simple rules." She spat with an aggravated tail lash.
"Once this meeting is over, I'll take a patrol out with me to scout out the rat nest and will make plans to exterminate them after. Aside from badgers, foxes, and rats, I've also received reports of an owl nest in the Mourning Ruins, and snakes in the Dawning Woods. Due to the strange increase of predators and deaths, no one is allowed out of camp without direct orders or permission from me, my high ranks, or my Enforcers." Yes, ShadowClan was going on lockdown. One or two deaths were a lot when they weren't in direct conflict with the other clans. ShadowClan's had five.
"I am in no mood for games and have no patience or mercy left. I've lost more cats in the past moon than in our last battle. Do not try me, when I say no one is allowed to leave camp I mean it. Disobey me and you'd better pray I merely exile you instead of sending you to StarClan in pieces."
ShadowClan was normally pretty good about following their leader's orders. However, there were always a few who decided to push her buttons. Every button Dawnstar had was currently pushed, so unless cats wanted to experience what it was like to drown in their own blood, her writer advises against further upsetting the crazy monster in cat form cause he was blanking on how to save those poor unfortunate souls.
Dawnstar fell silent while sitting back on her haunches. "In other news, Foggymask has challenged Shrewstep for his Enforcer rank and I've approved the challenge. Hawkbite will be hosting a little event for the fight, everyone is welcome to watch." More fighting and bloodshed after so much loss? Sure, it might have unsettled a softer clan with a more sane leader. However, this was Dawnstar's ShadowClan; violence entertained and distracted her. Cry about it! It's not like she'd make anyone watch if they didn't want to. #shcmeeting

AGH! no no no no — drats!! slept right through Dawnstar's yowling call! stars!!!!!! who put the fluff in his ears... or was it moss from his nest?
DIDN'T MATTER. he slipped into the gathered crowd and hung by the back, hoping to the spirits above he wasn't being so idiotic and embarrassing that it was the final straw that made Dawnstar claw his other eye out... or something like that.
he joined in the celebration of the new warriors. always something to celebrate!! and even though Grousepaw... whatever, there was a new guy there to take his place! Rookfire! wow! Sagechaser cheered for that guy, too.
well, this meeting seemed to be going alright, even though he'd missed some of the beginning - maybe some apprentice ceremonies. he felt bad for that; he would've liked to get to know everyone a little more, but at least he was slowly falling back into the easy routine of clan life so familiar to him.
everything felt almost perfect again.
funny how that doesn't last.
things don't last. funny. haha. hah. ha.
big brother. big brother what does that mean? your family is all gone, big brother. they're gone, do you see? you're not very good at this. you were never good at it. what could you have done?
nothing - incapable of grasping at shards of glass, stabbing through delicate paws, weeps to the earth in red — black had never been the mourning color.
big brother. big brother. what do you have left. a lonesome tear, who promises more to come later, all his possessions destined to evaporate later in salty bitterness. you can't have much more than that.
everything goes, doesn't it? but why so soon, why him?
WHY NOT HIM.
belief. it's all - no, he hasn't even that, nevermind - the delusion it wasn't real drowning out the rest. goodbye.
bye. bye Lark. bye i'm sorry i' m s osorry i'm sorry i'm not there i nev er was i'm sorry i miss you come back don't go don't leave make this a joke i'm sorry i t shouldn' t be you i'm sorry i'm
sor ry im sorr yim sorry im so
bye. never got to say goodbye.
no more.
he held himself in the absence of anybody to do it for him. he held himself, held away, held down, held a heart, and held it never would mend. a gaping wound tore open with claws to see the gore inside, poke and prod, saying look now.
not there anymore. could you come back?
