"I know I will," Palepaw replied simply.
Then, Palepaw heard something. His ears perked up, and he listened attentively for the noise. Then, thinking to taste the air, he opened his mouth. 'Exactly what I thought', he thought to himself. 'Mouse.' He entered a hunting crouch, and did his best to sight the creature, hoping the other apprentice would catch on to his silent signal for silence.
Then, his eyes lit up as he spotted the mouse, as he realized his friend was now a branch directly above the prey. He looked directly at Beetlepaw, and then pointed his head towards the creature, mouthing the word "look".

Beetlepaw's tail flicked as she looked down, seeing the mouse. The black cat crouched down on the branch, her tail swishing about.

Palepaw hoped she would pounce on the mouse from above. He was decently far from it, and she had the greatest opportunity to get it. He realized there was very little he could do to communicate to her to pounce on it, and instead simply waited for her to make a move.

Beetlepaw leaped down from the branch, directing at the mouse. The molly landed on the small creature, doing a killing bite to the neck.

Palepaw stood up excitedly. "Nice!" he complimented the apprentice. Pouncing on prey from unusual positions, such as from above, could be tricky sometimes, but it was also a necessary skill for those tricky positions. Although Palepaw made no note of it out loud, he was quietly impressed by the accuracy with which she landed the killing blow. "Have you practiced pouncing on prey from above before?"

Palepaw's ears perked up. "That's... very impressive." He made a mental note to work on this skill himself, seeing that he had lost a squirrel the other day by failing to pull off the same trick. Evidently, either Beetlepaw was very talented, or he just thought it was harder than it actually is.

Beetlepaw's ears flicked, acknowledging Palepaws words, but not saying anything. "We should bring this back to the prey pile, but you can stay here if you like. It shouldn't be a long trip." She mewed, picking the mouse up in her mouth.

Palepaw thought for a moment. He should really get back to camp for more training at some point.
"Yeah, sure. I'll follow you, and then we can split up again when we get back to camp." He wanted a little more time to talk with Beetlepaw before they arrived, but realized that he was growing tired of the prolonged contact with her, and would be ready to be done by the time he got back to camp. ((I need to finish this RP out anyway so I can do other stuff, and we might as well wrap it up today.))

Beetlepaw started walking, her swift steps making it look like she was running, rather than walking. Once they had made it back to the camp, she dropped the mouse onto the fresh kill pile.
