Re: The Shadowledge
֎|Lynxblossom|֎
She/Him| @Apollo. |WC:203
The weather was disgusting, and she had felt the brunt of it last night. She had trotted into camp at some ungodly hour of the night, drenched in water. Before easily passing out as soon as she reached her nest. So she wasn't too eager to go sit outside in the rain again when Dawnstar called.
So he drifted half-way back to sleep, the tabby's nest was close to the entrance, close enough she could hear Dawnstar's words. There was some sort of issue with some kits, but it seemed to be resolved. Then it was time for some apprentice ceremonies. He recognized one of the names, Starlingkit. He was glad that they would finally be made an apprentice.
Her head perked up as her name was called. A shiver went down her spine at the mention of her former apprentices, there was no intentional dig there but it still hurt. But then a grin shone on her face, she would be training Starlingpaw herself.
The bobtail made his way out of the den, searching the crowd of cats for the young cat. He approached them swiftly, his joy not wavering.
"I promise I'll train you well." Lynxblossom said in a hushed tone.

Re: The Shadowledge
Thornpaw - She/Her
Note : Thornpaw should be addressed as Male unless corrected, as she recently came out, but only to a few cats.
Flame Point w/ Blue Eyes
→ The Shadowledge
Thornpaw took a step forward as Dawnstar said her name. She wanted to run for the hills, but that would just make things worse. Instead, she joined the others in front of the leader, awaiting to see what the molly would say. Galepaw was there, but Ruepaw wasn't, so it probably wasn't about the den,,

Re: The Shadowledge
--Vixensnarl--
The Enforcer listened intently as Dawnstar began the apprentice ceremonies and reassignments. Her name being mentioned was slightly surprising, but she quickly understood when her mother said Daintypaw, her first apprentice who had gone missing. "I'll take finish her training," the tabby mewed, green eyes scanning the clearing for Daintypaw.
The apprentice had been close to finishing her training before she disappeared, so hopefully, Vixensnarl wouldn't have to put too much work into her. Also, Frigidpaw was almost finished, so having Daintypaw as an apprentice shouldn't impede that.

--Slytiger--
The Toyger's eyes widened slightly, and his fur fluffed up in excitement. He was getting an apprentice! He was glad that Dawnstar trusted him enough with this task, and he was determined to succeed. When he joined, he told her he wanted a purpose to dedicate himself to, and training Tallpaw would be a great way to prove he meant it.
"Hello, Tallpaw! It's a pleasure to meet you. I promise to do my best to make you into a formidable warrior of ShadowClan," Slytiger purred before leaning down to touch his nose to the apprentice's like he had seen other warriors do when assigned an apprentice.

Re: The Shadowledge

Starlingkit, no, Starlingpaw nodded as they received their apprentice name. They'd carry this name for another five to six moons until they receive their warrior name, depending on how their training goes. Speaking of training, they happened to be the first of the four to have their mentor announced, Lynxblossom, huh? they blinked as they looked around for the cat, turning their gaze back to Dawnstar for a moment, She is quite the observant leader.., Dawnstar must've seen the two of them clearing out the nursery together not long ago, and Starlingpaw had thought that Lynxblossom and them worked well together as a team, plus, having a cat familiar to them would probably help a lot with the speed of their training, even if they only interacted for a little bit. I guess she has to be pretty observant of her clan mates.
Starlingpaw finally spotted Lynxblossom coming out of the warriors den, and waited for him to approach them, seeing as she was already moving their way. After he reached them Starlingkit crained their head slightly to touch noses with her, accepting him as their mentor. Starlingpaw figured that she might be a bit worried about the two's training from his words, even though Lynxblossom had an apprentice in the past, "I'm sure you'll teach me to be a great warrior." they gave her a little nod, before padding to join the crowd, towards the front, so that the group of apprentices having their mentors being re-assigned had enough room.
( @Erebus - Lol, first Lark and Fen being sibs and now Starling and Lynx being mentor and apprentice. )

-Tallpaw-
Tallpaw was elated to see that her mentor had some of the same excitement as her. She happily touched noses, opening her starry eyes full of excitement, she asked, "When are we going to go training?"

A stressful sigh escaped from out of Shadefrost's mouth as he heard that he was now being assigned yet another apprentice. Honestly, ever since his experience with the last one he dreaded the job, but he couldn't escape his duty to his clan and right now he had to get a feel of his apprentices personality. Shadefrost was unsure whether it was the cold rain seeping into his pelt or if it was the fact that this paw seemed to think rank didn't matter, but still he found that almost immediately he was taken aback by her comment. "Excuse me," he said rather defensively "I've never abandoned a single one of my apprentices, if anything they were the ones who did the abandoning." How great, out of all the cats in the clan he was the one who got stuck with this ceremonies brat, the black tom could feel his hackles rise but he said nothing else about the matter, "just be at the training cliffs in the morning, I'll be waiting for you there."

"you're not gonna give me a tour of the territory first? honestly are you new to this? I dont even know where the training cliffs are!" Foxpaw said exasperated

Re: The Shadowledge
High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]Great, Dawnstar didn't think she could be any more disappointed in these cats, but apparently, there was no end to ShadowClan's incompetence. Dawnstar eyed the few cats that stepped forward, briefly ignoring Galepaw's outburst and back and forth Courgarivy, and shook her head. When cats made mistakes or worse deliberately disobeyed her the least they could do is own up to it. The leader didn't feel bad for any one of the cats, if they were worried about repercussions they would have talked to her before they got all the way here, on that note.
"Galepaw, you've been an apprentice for well over a moon now, a full moon! Yet, it's only when you're going to be in trouble that you decide to say anything about Spiritfire not mentoring you and your lack of hunting training." Dawnstar did briefly drop her gaze to the she-cat as she named her. She had been hoping Spiritfire was better than this, why the hell wasn't she training her apprentice?! "You've also had more than enough time to come to my den and speak to me about your inability to do your patrol because you haven't been taught how to hunt. You say you want to provide and serve ShadowClan, yet you've done nothing to show me that." Dawnstar was certainly harsher than most leaders certainly, however, she did consider herself a reasonable she-cat. "I've told you paws over and over and over again, if your mentor is a piece of dung, inform me and I'll replace them. It's that simple. So why didn't you say anything to me before now, Galepaw?"
The rest of the cats actually looked terrified for their lives and should have finished their patrols or better yet given some excuse as to why they couldn't. "Since the rest of you aren't crying or having emotional outbursts, yet you look petrified make me assume you know why you're being called forward. Still, reminders don't hurt. I said at the last meeting that I would implement harsher punishments for those who don't finish patrols. I don't know if you thought I was lying or joking or would forget, but still, you decided to take a chance and ignore my warning. You decided not to finish the very simple yet important job of hunting and patrolling our borders. Weakening the clan because of your incompetence."
"I'm done with this, done! I've been giving warning after warning, after warning, and so few listen to me. So now we're going to deal with the consequences. ShadowClan you better listen and listen well. Punishments for patrols are changing. Any patrol leader who doesn't report in will be liable for execution or exile, and since I can practically hear you whining about how extreme this is, I'll give you two free screw-ups with two excuses, hell I'll even keep in mind your service to ShadowClan and will overlook your mousebrained actions one time depending on how you contributed to the clan, but after that, the repercussions are yours to deal with. This extends to all of the patrols, not just border, and hunting."
Dawnstar slide her eyes down to Cloversun, who was the only patrol leader present.Though Dawnstar was still extremely frustrated with Cloversun, the leader could admire the cat's willingness to accept punishment and own up to her fault instead of hiding like a coward. "Now, Cloversun, normally I'd let you choose how you want to go out. However, I was expecting more cats willing to own up to their faults. I like to make examples but since you've been a loyal member of ShadowClan up until now and have at least attempted to contribute to your clan, I'll change your punishment. Think of it as a mercy." The leader gave a great shake of her large head, knocking raindrops out of her face after she spoke. The shake knocked a forgotten name back to the forefront of her head.
"I did forget one more patrol leader. Meadowleap [ @Little Dakota ], you didn't report an herb patrol." This one really should die, or get exiled, she was barely a warrior. She sat around and seemed to complain about everything, however even stupid warriors were warriors. Her attempts to contribute to the clan, as stupid and foolish as they were, was something that was better than nothing. "Unless you have a death wish I can fulfill or you'd rather wander in exile, you'll be granted mercy much like Cloversun this once."
"From now on, warriors who are patrol members, who either do not step up and finish the patrols their patrols leaders fail or just don't show up or ditch patrols altogether will be stripped of their names and rank, obtain a mentor and go through training once again for the next three moons. This slight punishment will extend to patrol leaders who screw up as well. However, anyone who goes through this punishment twice will be reassessed and possibly be charged with the same patrol negligence as a patrol leader and warranted for exile or execution." What kind of leader would Dawnstar be if she let repeat offenders get away with the same neglect over and over again? Eventually, a more severe punishment should be given. Dawnstar surprised herself sometimes with how merciful she could be.
"Meadowleap, Flamefrost, and Cloversun, you'll all be stripped of your warrior rank and name, and will be in retraining for the next three moons." It might be a good idea to see if she could find a single warrior for group training rather than waste warriors on mentoring the dumbasses. She'd have to think about it. r.
"Apprentices, your saving grace is that you are young and ignorant. Any paws who fail patrols get one chance to explain to me why they failed. If you do not take that chance, you will be demoted to a kit for a quarter moon." She would have made it half a moon, but Vixensnarl seemed to think a quarter moon was long enough and she's been the one doing patrols as of late. "You will be expected to continue your training or start training, in some cases, under the supervision of a warrior. If it happens a second time, I will be giving you a harsher punishment, and continue to do so until you learn. Thornpaw, Galepaw, and Marshpaw."
Dawnstar is near itching for someone to refute or argue with her decisions. The leader did not take pleasure out of spilling ShadowClan blood, but spill it she'd do nonetheless. The leader had near lost all of her expectations of having her clan be anything like her. Few of these cats had her drive or devotion, and it sickened her. If Icestar could see ShadowClan now she'd be rolling in her grave. If ShadowClan continued on this path they'd end up in the grave themselves.
If she hadn't learned to reign her less-than-desirable urges, she'd be culling the clan of the weak, the stupid, and the disobedient, and focusing on rebuilding the clan from the inside out. If that meant spending moons away from ShadowClan searching for like-minded cats strong enough to call themselves ShadowClan in the outskirts, she'd do it. Cause this is ridiculous, Dawnstar was not asking for much. She just wanted patrols done!
"Due to this catastrophe, I've decided that I will not be naming a deputy this moon. You can blame the cats who neglected patrols for this decision, not just the current ones I'm calling out now but every patrol that has been neglected since I stepped up as ShadowClan's leader. ShadowClan will have a deputy when they earn one, and right now, none of you are fit for the rank." Dawnstar was aware that she'd need to name a deputy at some point in time, but right now, she wasn't going anywhere, she had more than enough lives and didn't really need to worry about a successor. Plus, she had enforcers and Ivysnake and Elmshadow to help her if she had any immediate issues. Quite frankly, Dawnstar actually felt more stable now than she's ever been with a deputy.
"Though it's not all bad news, I have decided to add both Shadowfur and Sorrelflare to the ranks of Enforcers, alongside Larkpaw who will be the first apprentice to join the rank of Enforcers." Dawnstar had been serious about allowing apprentices to join the Enforcers. If paws could be responsible for the health of the entire clan as medicine cats, she didn't see why she couldn't make them Enforcers. Shadowfur has been working hard to make up for his original blunder with his former apprentice, he's more or less earned the rank. Sorrelflare got the rank most because he seemed rather dependable and committed when he put his mind to something, Larkpaw was placed in the same category as her mentor. With these three additions, she was hoping they could help her steer ShadowClan in a better direction.
"Brackenfire, though you are a queen you seemed to forget that you are also Enforcer. You've been slacking terribly to the point where I was thinking about demoting you. The fire you had when you first became a warrior has dwindled to near-nothingness since you bore kits and it's been noticed not just by me but by your clanmates as well. You've been issued a challenge for your Enforcer rank. You can either accept the challenge and try to prove to ShadowClan that you're worthy of the rank, or you can forfeit it." Dawnstar wasn't going to force Brackenfire to fight if she no longer deemed herself fit for the role.

(I'll be revising the ShadowClan punishment thread to reflect Dawnstar's new punishments. If there are any problems, issues, or concerns, please inform me so we can work something out.)
