They needed all the food they could get, and the tom was glad that the silver carp looked big enough to feed a few cats. At her compliment, the tom gave her a sideways glance and lowered his head in gratitude. And then, she continued going on, asking if he had anything else. His mind turned to the two shrews - had he been less wanting to give all he had to the Clan, he probably would have left the shrews be. They weren't good. But every little bit counted, as shrimpy as it might look, was important to the Clan. It would feed some cat.

The shrews could feed kits, or perhaps an apprentice or warrior - it was only enough for one kit or warrior, but that would be enough. That would be one more cat who wouldn't go hungry. Gannetpaw himself wouldn't take anything, if that was enough to make sure that the other cats got food. He was more worried about the other cats in the Clan, considering right now he was strong and healthy and didn't have too many problems. His life wasn't in danger at all of starving. And if he needed to, he would take what he needed. Of course it wouldn't be a lot. Like he had said, there were cats who needed it more. The tip of his tail twitched as he answered her question. "Yeah, I have a couple of shrews buried back there," He mewed as he flicked his tail towards the direction of the shrews that he had buried. Hopefully someone liked shrimpy shrews, or would eat them, otherwise Gannetpaw's work would be wasted.

No - if no one else would, he would eat one of them, as meager as it was. And besides, at this point? There was no use being selfish. They needed all the prey they could get, and they needed to pray to StarClan that it would be enough to survive. Leaf-bare was coming. And if catches continued to be this scarce, well... there was a good chance that someone wouldn't survive the winter. When Redpaw began talking, Gannetpaw opened his maw to defend himself - and closed it just as quickly. Oh - right, she's teasing me. For someone who used sarcasm on a regular basis, it would have seemed that he would be able to pick that up, but somehow he hadn't been able to and had almost made a fool of himself. Instead he collected himself, pulling himself upwards to a taller height and smiled in a bright, teasing way.

"Stalking me now, are you? I think that proves my point - you've got a little crush on me! Be careful not to get your little heart broken, Red - from what I hear, it's not a fun experience," He purred. His ears burned from her affectionate gesture, out of embarassment more then anything else. Thank StarClan no one else was around to see that. Gathering up the vole in his maw, he headed back to grab the two shrews - honestly he could probably carry it all pretty easily. Some might say it was because he had a big mouth. To which he would answer no, they were just small shrews.
"You grab the shrews," Redpaw muttered, voice muffled from the fish clamped between her jaws, "and I'll grab the carps." As they neared the spot where the apprentice had blatantly scraped leaves and dirt over the fish, Redpaw dropped the other carp beside it in the mud. Her tail tip flicked Gannetpaw's nose as she shot him a knowing glare, rolling her amber eyes.
"Oh, please." The calico she-cat sighed, shaking her head. "The day I admit to having a crush on you is the day you become leader and I become your dedicated deputy, Gannetstar." Redpaw produced a throaty purr. "So good luck with that." Just adding a different name onto the suffix of star hurt Redpaw's heart somewhat. Her adoptive parents, Whisperblaze and Russetstar took her in after her parents passed away from a greencough epidemic. She was only a young kit at the time, and Redpaw had thought it was all because nobody wanted her anymore; she was a waste of space not worthy of love, or a caring father. As a kit, the calico feline had nobody.
Up until Russetstar and Whisperblaze stepped into the picture.
And now, Redpaw couldn't fathom the thought of Russetstar losing any of his nine lives. Even if her father was the RiverClan-famous leader, Redpaw didn't want to lose any other members of her family. It was something natural that would have to happen sooner or later; nobody could evade death. But, even with that knowledge, Redpaw would do anything in her power to protect both her Clan and her family from it. She never wanted to see any of them in pain, or hurting.
Having zoned out in her thoughts, Redpaw shook herself free. Her coat fluffed out somewhat, though still wet, was semi-flattened against her frame. The calico apprentice scooped up the two scaly fish by their tails, her teeth digging tightly into the widespread fins. They weighed her head down somewhat despite how scrawny they were, though Redpaw forced her head to be supported against the weight. "C'mon, your majesty," Redpaw snarled from behind the fishes, "these fishes are bigger than your ego! Go get your shrews and lets head back to camp. I could use a good grooming, anyways."

(apologies for the delay! been busy & my posts're gonna be slow)

"Do you think that is an excuse..? Peachfuzz inquired, his voice remaining a low growl. "Another kit violating Clan rules does not mean you have the right to. You both could have been harmed. ShadowClan has already suffered enough because of the gays-- we don't need to add the loss of two of our kits to the list." Now one of them was missing, and he had a hard time believing Applekit would be found. Who knew how long they were out here? A kit their size could easily be gobbled up. With Leaf-bare approaching, predators would be hungry.

"At this moment, your friend may as well be dead. I am not dragging you further around the territory to find him." He would have to arrange other cats to look for him, or once he brought Jadekit back to camp, look for him himself. "What way did he go?" It would be good to have a starting direction. His scent may not be lost.

Cloudsong slowly pads through the undergrowth, her senses alert for the tiniest movement and her mouth partially open to taste the air. Her ear quirks at the sound of scrabbling and she freezes, honing in on the location of the mouse before dropping into the hunter's crouch. She slowly inches forward, taking care to step lightly and keep her weight balanced, moving as close as she could before she sprang, dispatching the mouse with a sharp bite to the back of its neck, thanking StarClan for its life as her tail curls and she noses at it,

"hm, it might have a bit of meat on it for a change." She notes with pleasure, picking up her catch and returning to where she'd buried a water vole to fetch that as well, beginning the trek back toward the RiverClan camp, finding it almost unsettling how familiar she was becoming with another Clan's territory.

When all you did was daydream memories were pretty easy to keep. But he had said that as a clanmate she should care, it made her feel like that was all she was to him. Just another clanmate. He had felt something before, she was sure of it. Except, now he didn't seem to. Know the answer to that? Of course she didn't! Well, at least she didn't want to. She wan't to lash out at him, to force him to admit he cared about her. Of at least he had cared about her. Even in past tense she didn't care. Fawnpatch just wanted to be positive he cared, or he had cared. Either way if in some way he cared about her. "That's how I care about you." she lied, which was very convincing as she had the daydreamy look she always did.

Well, at least he had enough dignity to say something about her kits not liking her. Yes it is indeed a shame." she huffed, her dazed daydreamy look beginning to look present for once. Fawnpatch looked at him like he was brainless, and he actually seemed like he was. But, she guessed he hadn't changed as much as she had expected. "Five moons to learn to hate me." she grumbled, wishing the tom understood for once. "They like you more and they don't even know you!" She wailed, the molly wished more now then ever things were like they used to be. She wished he was the tom he had been, the one who had cared about her so she could seek him out for comfort. So that she could know that at least he cared even if the kits didn't. But then she was feeling more helpless then ever.
Dream knew that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If only Fawnpatch stayed in the nursery long enough for him to get away from her. He tried his best to avoid her, but being in the same clan never helped. The tom offered her a small grin upon her words. She admitted to have cared about him as a clan mate. Like he did for her. There was nothing else that should be going on with their relationship. Because they didn't have any. He refused to help her raise the kits, and he refused to be apart of their lives. He should had been that one tom who came to them as a dream. Then vanished the next. He honestly didn't know what to say to her. His mind had been occupied on trying to discover this new land. Explore it to get a good analyze on its territory. She cut into his business and that desperately annoyed him.

Dream wasn't the best at comforting. He laid his tail tip on her shoulder in a way to comfort her. Apparently her kits didn't like her, but they liked him. Which left him dumbfounded because they didn't know him. Dream wasn't going to allow them to know him either. Plus...they were five moons. ''Wow! That's how long its been?'' His eyes widened. Mere surprise welling in him that they were almost the age to be apprenticed. It was a long time...five moons. Dream shook his head, stifling in laughter because it wasn't the best time to laugh right now. Especially since she appeared so depressed. ''I'm sure you're exaggerating. You're a good mother,'' He assumed. He didn't know. Anything to cheer her up, at least. But, now Dream was getting restless. He needed to leave, so he briskly pulled himself up. ''Hey, Fawn. I gotta go though. Nice chatting with you and all,'' He turned to leave, not so much as a pleasant goodbye, but he didn't want to be in her presence anyway. She was always there, It nerved him a bit. ''Best to get back to your kits though.'' And, he could get back to doing what he did best. Because being sappy was not who Dream was. He didn't do love. He didn't do comforting. If she wanted comfort, he was the last tom to receive it from. So, he had to get away because all she was doing was guilt-tripping him.

@Rubinaito

Bait felt like his legs had never been more tired in his life. He had been wandering for days, hoping to find some place to rest for a day or two. Every place he had been had either been dangerous to stay in or had hostile cats that's drove him out. The tom stopped beside a scent marker. He didn't recognize it, but he figured they couldn't be worse than the badger he had found and only just managed to get away from.
He crossed into the teriotoy. Maybe this cat who lived here would be friendly, Bait though with dull enthusiasm. He hadn't much luck with friendly cats, though. He spotted a fallen tree, and to his pleasure, a mouse scrabbling amount the rotting wood. Dropping into an unsteady crouch, the cat crept forward. With a massive leap, he landed squarely on the creatures back.
"A full belly tonight." He purred to himself as he picked up the creature. He wouldn't stay long, but he had at least found a meal.

"Horrible posture." A voice came from behind Bait, and a quick glance would reveal that a large grey Norwegian Forest cat was sitting behind him, her tail curled neatly around her paws and her eyes cold and calculating. Flicking her ear, the molly stood up with her tail lashing and pupils narrowed into thin slits. "I'm rather surprised you managed to catch the creature." Her voice was full of disdain as she looked upon the rogue as if he was nothing more than a rats tail, or fox dung. She circled around Bait, her eyes cold and calculating as she looked at him, studying his posture and his rather thin frame. "You're trespassing on Clan territory." She said, silencing whatever words Bait had to say. Her yellow eyes locked with his, narrowed with suspicion. "Granted, it isn't ShadowClan territory... if it was, I'd be more inclined to drive you out." She continued, the look on her face showing that she despised having to talk to the cat before her, whom she obviously thought of as nothing more than scum. "But, sniff the air. This marshy land belongs to those fish eaters, who can drive you out themselves. In the meantime, I suppose I'll just have to make sure you don't steal any more prey." She sniffed, her voice thick with loathing. Oh how Smokeleaf despised having to talk... had they been in ShadowClan territory, she would've driven him out without a word, but she had no jurisdiction here in this clan of fish-eating, fox-hearted, despicable excuses for cats. She was very loyal to her clan, it was obvious to anyone who even looked at her. Some cats would think her another cat in the Fuzz family, but they would be wrong. She had ShadowClan blood that went back for generations, much longer than those mouse brains had even been alive. Smokeleaf was superior to them, and a few of them knew it. In fact, this was why she was hoping to be deputy. To prove those mouse-brains wrong that females only belong in the nursery. For a moment, Smokeleaf stood there, lost in her thoughts before shaking her head and looking back at the tom before her, eyes narrow.

@Stormpelt
Aspen moved back into his makeshift den. Eyes looking across the forest ahead. He had buried himself under the roots of a Willow tree, using the vines and stray moss to weave a nice nest. Providing him with camouflage incase of enemies. He let out a large yawn, moving his head onto his paws. Stomach rumbling as he gazed through the small gap he used as a door. Aspen sighed, noticing with every passing day he smelled more like a clan cat. Which wasn't a bad thing, being a loner. His ears flicked around, and Aspen's Golden orbs fell dull as he closed his eyes, flicking his tail.

Bait's weary eyes darted to the Molly behind him, fur bristling with surprise. Man, she was good at sneaking up on cats! As he listened to her scorning new, he felt anger and curiosity boiling under his scruffy fur.
Horrible posture? He had never been taught, ho was he supposed to know?! He was about to flash back a furious retort when she continued with her criticism. Bait lashed his tail once before he met her powerfully gaze. Something inside him, his courage, went out his fur and Bait crouched down as she circled him. He didn't want to be a bother, just to get away from this crazy she-cat.
You're trespassing on Clan territory. Granted, it isn't ShadowClan territory... if it was, I'd be more inclined to drive you out.
What was this she-cat mewling about?! Clans? Shadowy ones? He had never heard of them. He flicked his right ear once, curiosity rolling off him. Maybe if he could get her to talk less...angrily, with less contempt, he may be able to escape without wounds. That was the last thing he wanted.
"Er, what's Shadowy Clan?" He asked, staying in his crouched position. Realizing he looked smaller than he would like, Bait straitened up and met her stern gaze.
He couldn't help but back up a pace as he realized how much more intimidating she was when he really looked at Smokeleaf. I mean, she was really big and fluffy, even for a normal cat that he would encounter in alleyways and human gardens. Bait carefully reached out a paw and tugged the mouse closer to him, hoping she wouldn't take it from him.
"And don't worry," he added. "I won't take any more prey from...fish eaters clan."
Or whatever they're called. He added spitefully to himself.

As soon as he answered what his name was, she continued. "Where have you been raised, Bait? Even the kittypets shudder in fear when their mothers tell them of the 'bloodthirsty' wild cats who live in the forest." Smokeleaf blinked, feeling odd as she spoke up again. "I'm... Smokeleaf." Strangely enough, as Smokeleaf began to look at him clearly, pity began showing in her cold eyes. "I'm sorry." She apologized, folding her ears back and frowning.

"Ha! I'll be expecting your apology and your confession of undying love when that happens," The feline thrust his face in hers and looked her up and down before shrugging and flicking her lightly with his tail. His black and white pelt was still pressed against his body, making him look thinner and a little more pitiful - more like a half-drowned rat, if you were to ask him. That was why he didn't like swimming. It made him a target for the jokes of bullies later. And, while Gannetpaw could take the joking of friends perfectly fine, if someone he didn't know (at least as well) were to joke about him, or a bully/enemy were to make fun of him, there was nothing that the tom could say back. Especially to a bully. It was like his insides froze and he couldn't say anything.

That might just be anxiety acting up, but the tom really wasn't sure. He didn't make friends very easily. If he was approached, sure, he would hold conversation, do his best to slip in a joke or two where he could, but most of the time? It ended up so that poor Gannetpaw was left without a new friend, and the cat moved away, not really enjoying what he had to say. Oh well. That was just life, he supposed - and he should know enough about it. By now, at least. "Of course, O Great One. I'll be happy to fulfill your request of a grooming when we return, as well." His eyes sparked playfully and then he was off, picking up the vole in his maw and heading back to grab the two shrews. Now, all that barely fit, and Gannetpaw looked quite ridiculous - although he was doing his best to keep ahold of the creatures in his maw, who cared what others thought? It was food!

Food for the Clan. That was what was important, as he had continuously told himself. "Reshdytoguo?" He mumbled, although what he had meant was 'ready to go', it came out sounding nothing like that. The smaller animals were beginning to slip, and Gannetpaw had to almost bite down on them - careful not to damage them more then was necessary, no one wanted to eat a beat-up looking piece of prey. Though hopefully, they would be hungry enough to eat anything. Because these shrews? Well, let's just say they came out looking like they were on the losing end of a fight. That they had come out much, much worse for wear then they had... ah... started looking like. And so on.
