Duskclaw glared at Pantherroar's interruption. It did not have the same effect has his usual wide awake glares, though. Duskclaw shifted his sleepy gaze back over back towards Sunnyspots. "Listen, we leave our problems outside the den, Sunnyspots. Your mate can be torn in half for all I care, but here? We rest here, nothing more, nothing less."

He proceeded to study the young Warrior's face for a good bit. Every fur, every wrinkle of smile, ever micro-twitch of a whisker. "...but you can't do that, can you?" Despite his words, he expressed very little sympathy, instead stating it like a fact.

Pantherroar - RiverClan Warrior

Pantherroar's ears flattened, her emerald eyes fixed on Duskclaw in a fierce glare. ''I'm not his mate, so I have no idea where you got that from,'' the she-cat snapped, pushing herself up into a sitting position. Her claws extended and retracted. As much as she wanted to rake them across Duskclaw's smug face, Pantherroar wouldn't do that. She wasn't that type of cat.

But you can't do that, can you?

The tom's next bunch of words went unnoticed, but his last sentence had Pantherroar on her paws in a heartbeat. ''What in StarClan's name is wrong with you, Duskclaw?'' she roared, her eyes blazing with fury. ''You have no right to be talking to Sunnyspots like that. He hasn't done anything wrong, so leave him alone. So what if he can't rest? Maybe he needs some cat to talk to.''

Pantherroar didn't trust this cat, and she didn't want to, either. Duskclaw was proving himself untrustworthy to his Clanmates, and Pantherroar was going to go to Owlstar about it as soon as she had the chance. ''You're not getting yourself anywhere by being a piece of fox dung, Duskclaw.''

"I umm... I've got to go I-I can't do this anymore." He tried to stay without stuttering but it didn't work.

Once Sunnyspots got out of sight of the cats in the den he broke into a run soon tears came after, streaming down his face. I don't deserve to be here... Sunnyspots thought.

He stopped running and just sat. Tears falling faster than a waterfall.

"You misinterpret my words, Pantherroar." He would stand up, but Duskclaw doesn't feel like bumping his head on the den ceiling like he's done a dozen times before. "I am not referencing you as a mate, simply a hypothetical."

He focuses on Sunnyspots once more. "I know what you're-" but his words are cut short by Sunnyspots's departure. Duskclaw lets out a sigh and slowly shifts himself into a crouch. "I shall apologize for my poor use of words later, Pantherroar. C'mon, let's go cheer up our mutual friend. Like you said, he needs some cats to talk to..." His tone was his usual flat one, but he seemed to be a bit more genuine with his words this time.

Simple silence can be an overwhelming thing, even if it isn't really silent. Even if the voices of the Clanmates you refuse try and strike up a conversation with slice through your thoughts like sharpened claws, even when you try and drown them out. But all is well, or so Addergnaw obsessively convinces himself.

Maybe actual silence would be better than this...

What a shocker, huh? The oh-so-mighty Addergnaw can't focus? What was he trying to focus on in the first place, he didn't know. His thoughts. He was tired. He was...kind of lonely. Maybe, Addergnaw, if you got up off your lazy, fluffy butt and actually tried to talk to someone for once!

Yes, all is well. He was just hoping to talk to someone, but StarClan knows he's an awkward shell of his outgoing younger self now.

Should I even be wanting to talk to somebody right now? Addergnaw asked himself. Of course he was terrible at interacting with others–it was a skill he hadn't bothered to practice. The practice he did have was mediocre at best.
