Stealthpaw nodded, then started to slowly creep forwards until she could see the creature. Preparing to pounce, she shifted sideways a little to get a better angle. She pounced, accidentally brushing the reeds with her long tail, the vole started to run, but she was already midjump and landed on it, then gave it a quick bite on the throat. "Did I do alright?" Stealthpaw asked, padding back to where her mentor was

Lotusheart nodded. It seemed like the apprentice was learning.
"Good. Try to balance yourself comfortably. Now try locating a mouse." she said. Her apprentice seemed eager to learn.

Reedwhisker blinked in surprise. "Ah... yes! Well done. You have to keep control of your tail though, you were lucky that time." Reedwhisker's bitter tone covered his pride. He wanted his apprentice to be her best and didn't want her to be self-centered but he considered his words too harsh. In a softer tone he added: "Alright, bury it here and we can come back for it after scouting the Windclan border.

"Okay." Stealthpaw was a little disheartened, "I'll do better, I promise!" she then dropped the vole, dug a shallow ditch, and shoved the hole into it, covering it up as it landed. She couldn't wait to scout the Windclan border though! @esa

Reedwhisker led the way to the stream which separated Windclan from Riverclan. He noticed the slight droop of Stealthpaw's head and tried to encourage her.

"I'm impressed you caught something on your first try." he mumbled, turning away in embarrassment. "Of course there's still a lot of work to be done but-" he trailed off.

"Anyway. Do you smell this strange scent? This is the smell of Windclan. You can smell rabbit in their scent markers." he said wrinkling his nose.

"Bleah!" Stealthpaw spit, trying to get the rabbit scent out of her nose "They smell weird!" @esa

"Yeah. It's worse at gatherings." he replied. "Hm do you want to try getting your paws wet? The water is cold but stream is shallow so don't worry. It might feel unnatural at first but we'll practise a little before returning to camp.

awww, she'd found him!! he couldn't play it off like he wasn't there now... "yeah!! it's dayheart!! it's me! that's my name," dayheart replied, letting out a little purr back. "good job! how'd ya find me so fast?? that's gotta be a skill or somethingg!" he asked, honestly trying to figure out what the whole secret behind it was so that he could find eveninglight just as fast using the same method. "did you cheat? no, you would never cheat, what am i saying... did you hear me? was i rustling the bush around? there's gotta be some way you did that so fast..." he mused, his eyes glazing over a bit as he drowned deep in his thoughts.

Sootpaw clambered onto the boulder, slipping down a bit, but finally reaching the top. She shook out her fur, inching away from the sides of the boulder and looked up. The view was breathtaking, and her tiny mouth formed a little 'o'. "Our territory is big! And beautiful!" She looked at her mentor. "Where are we going first?"
