Oh, was he upset? Spiderpaw noticed the other apprentice's jaw clench a bit after her reply. Had she accidentally said the wrong thing? Her ears burned hotter at the idea. Certainly, somehow, she had just absolutely embarrassed herself and she had no idea why. Thankfully, it had not sent Pikepaw off in a big huff, though, as he instead explained battle bugs to her.

Okay, this was fine. They were still having a conversation, nothing to be bothered by... though she felt a little worried that he would never talk to her again after... whatever she had messed up. Her mind worked on that in the background while she listened to his explanation. Battle bugs was all about having bugs fight each other... go figure. She supposed the name was pretty self explanatory. It seemed awfully mean for the bugs, but there was a part of her that understood there were some bugs that would naturally fight each other. "Oh... and the bugs always fight...?" She asked. She couldn't remember seeing bugs fighting, outside of ants surrounding other bugs.

Uh oh. What did Spiderpaw do in her spare time? It was going to sound very lame. "Uhm... Usually, I try to just... either practice what I've been training... or sometimes I close my eyes and try to distinguish all the different smells. My nose is really sensitive, so... I see more with my nose than my eyes... if that makes sense?" WAIT! She just figured it out. She was supposed to compliment him back! That's what she had missed and why he'd been so upset! "And you smell nice."

No! The words came out before she had even thought them through. Spiderpaw felt her ears practically blazing, her nose turning near the color of a rose as she realized not only how late the returned compliment was, but how WEIRD it was as a compliment. Oh, stars, she might as well just shrivel up and cease to exist right then and there.

"Pft, course we are! Did you need to ask?" Claypaw rolled onto her back, and stared up at Pikepaw. Or was he looking down at her? It didn't really matter, outside the fact that everything looked sillier upside down. "I think that a bit've fun makes everyone better friends. Think 'bout it! We had a buncha fun, and we want to see who's better in the future. That means it's great friendship bondin' or whatever it's called."

There are noises everywhere, bright lights dancing on the ground where sunlight filters through foliage at the edges of camp. Glisteningkit, small and thin, her fur dull and wiry as though grooming is an afterthought - or not a thought at all - crouches low near the entrance to the nursery. The big cats come and go, duck into and out of dens, grab prey from the pile and have conversations all around her. Glisteningkit likes watching them, it's like practice for when she might be big one day, a tutorial on what to do and how to do it. She's not ready to put it into practice quite yet, though, so she stays where she is, letting the noises wash over her, letting her pelt soak up the warm sun.

Chomp! A small white kit playfully bites down on Glisteningkit's tail, trying to get someone to play with her. Cloudkit was always annoying like this, always popping up out of nowhere to try and play.

Caterpillarkit sighed and curled up in a ball, trying to cease the constant shaking of his body.
