▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █he yawns as he looks to another tree, figuring they just keep climbing...buuut he did have a question. "how high up should be climb? i am quite unsure of that." he tilts his head, eyes slanting a bit as he stares at rookfire. █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

rookfire didnt mind that most cats didnt speak up again to ask things. though he wouldve preferred it were anycat but deerclaw to ask. though really, wasnt it a positive thing that the older tom could swallow his pride and actually ask a reasonable question. not to rookfire, to someone else perhaps.
"depends what yer doing" he replied flatly before elaborating. "if yer just trying to escape whatever predator you only need to climb high enough they cant jump up n snatch you but its reasonable to go higher if youre unsure. when spying or ambushing cats you want to be relatively low so you can see em well but not low enough that they'll see you. thatd be hm a length or so above the lowest branches. 's a practice thing" rook shrugged. there wasnt really much more to say.
for now, rookfire would simply linger and watch the cats climb on their own accord before taking them back to camp in a while.

▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █He smirked and nodded "very well, guess i'll see how high I can go" he turned back to the tree he climbed before, his claws sliding out and gripping the tree and hoisting himself up, he began to climb slowly, eyes on a branch and he leaped up at it, [rolled a d10-8=okay] his claws scrapped the branch but gripped firmly and he began to climb back up. he then looked down with a prideful look. █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

A mischievous grin crossed the tom's maw as he turned his gaze to Lupinepaw "I bet I can climb higher than you can!" Honeysucklepaw said with a playful lash of his tail, feeling a bit more confident with any kind of praise he felt he was getting.
Without another word the apprentice hooked his claws into the bark, though hadn't paid attention to bark quality. He once more dropped down the tree, eyes widening as he realized he was hurdling toward the ground. He quickly managed to hook his claws on the way down, saving himself from hitting the ground. In reality he'd only slipped a bit, but in the moment Honeysucklepaw thought he was going to hit the ground. Damn it! He'd lost ground, he's have to make up for it.
Okay... move. He could feel his shoulders aching but did his best to not show it. He pushed himself up the tree, passing the first branch before making his way to the next closest safe branch.
Honeysucklepaw would occasionally shift position when the bark felt too weak or mushy, or whatever negative things bark could be. Finally after what felt like forever he reached the branch. Looking at Lupinepaw he felt a sudden wave of nausea hit him, stars he was actually pretty high up now, a fall from here wouldn't break anything, but would definitely hurt for a bit. He tried to shake the thought, forcing the most confident smile he could in this moment.
Okay, so hanging out in this tree was fun and all, but he should probably figure out how to climb down. Carefully walking around Emberpaw, hoping to avoid knocking her off, he reaches the trunk and attempts to climb down as he had gone up, but quickly finds it's very hard. His stomach does this thing where it clenches up and makes him want to vomit every time he stares at the ground for too long. The thrill was still there, but he just wasn't sure how to manage it when going down.
"Down, how do I get?" He yowls upsettingly from his tree to whoever is listening down below. "Jump, I try?" Weepingpaw settled back onto his branch, tensed his legs, all for trying to jump down to the branch below if someone didn't answer him quickly enough.

Shadepaw clung to the branch she was on, her heart beating rapidly as she gazed below her at the far ground. Gradually her heart slowed when she did not fall immediately, and felt a flash of anger at herself for her cowardice. She gripped the bark firmly as she adjusted her position. I can’t learn if I stay here, frozen in fear, she thought, annoyed.
Shadepaw looked at the trunk beside her, and at the branches all around her. They were pretty much evenly spaced, maybe two tail-lengths apart. She could probably get to the branch closest to her if she climbed up the trunk like she had to get here in the first place without any trouble, it wasn’t too far away. She gripped the side of the trunk she was on, staggering both her paws in different places, and inched her way to the branch above her. Dark paws latched on to the cylindrical object and hefted herself up, while using her hind legs as a stabilizer against the tree. Her paws scrabbled against the bark, panic shooting through her as one of her paws slipped briefly, then latched back on to the tree trunk. She managed to pull herself up on to the branch, muscles sore.
She lay there, panting for a moment. Climbing was hard. She never had to exercise her muscles like this before. This’ll make me stronger, she thought with a flash of triumph. Then maybe… maybe Clovepool will approve of me, and maybe I’ll get noticed by the clan… She shook the thought off with a snort. Unlikely. But that wasn’t about to stop her. She looked up, already calculating where she would go next.

Emberpaw! Weepingpaw almost jumped in fright when he felt his branch rock unsteadily underneath his paws. At first thought he was scared it would crack, but a glance over his shoulder brought his sibling into his gaze. Don't ask how he failed to hear her climbing, he tended to get tunnel vision when it came to certain things he was doing.
"Em!" He chips and barely refrains from trying to tackle her in joy. That would be very bad in a tree. A sharp gust of wind ruffles his fur and has him smiling into the breeze.
"Fun trees are." He turns back to look at his sibling, expecting them to share his enthusiasm for climbing and trees. Emberpaw looked as excited as he was with the climbing. He's never felt this sense of freedom before. He felt like he belonged in the trees. Maybe he was part squirrel, but even thinking that thought would insult his mothers, so he shook it out of his head.
"Live in trees with me, Em will?" He asked curiously and then glanced down at the cats below. Weepingpaw had some terribly intrusive thoughts as he wondered what would happen if he jumped from this height. It'd probably hurt, it wouldn't kill him, would it? Weepingpaw didn't want to join the ancestors, he still needed to get his warrior name and collect more parents.
"Em? Weeping down jump, no die, think?" He wasn't going to jump, but sometimes you had to share your intrusive thoughts with other cats. He might try and jump from this height when he was bigger and older. Weepingpaw didn't wait long to listen to Emberpaw, his eyes zeroed in on a bird in the next tree over. He made a soft chirping noise as he stared at the bird. Could he make that jump? He was more tempted to try jumping into the next tree over than jumping to the ground.

Emberpaw peered over the branch at the trunk Weepingpaw had tried climbing down. "I'll go first." She mewed. "And let's come back. We can live in trees. I like it." Emberpaw was quite relieved Weepingpaw hadn't listened to his intrusive thoughts--her own train of thought had left her completely oblivious to her surroundings for a few minutes before Weepingpaw's movement snapped her out of it.
Emberpaw wiggled tentatively onto the bark, head facing down and claws sinking into the soft wood. Oh. Oh no, no he didn't like this. But he had to get down so Weepingpaw could get down too. Maybe he'd just do it branch by branch. Emberpaw loosened their grip on the bark, and yelped when they immediately dropped a few inches. Okay okay okay they were doing this in one fell swoop then! Emberpaw had no choice but to trust their instincts and basically run down the side of the tree, leaping when the ground was within reach. They landed and skidded with a little squeak, but they'd done it! Emberpaw grinned and looked up at his brother, eyes narrowed against the sun. "Easy! Trust yourself!"
