"Just believe in myself won't rely on others."

Pineblossom confused him, Cicadapaw had yet to follow the pawsteps of their mentor in that department though. The russet tom padded out to the border, pondering Pineblossom's words until the damp smell of Shadowclan wacked the thought out of his brain.
Blinking from momentary shock, he narrowed his eyes and lowered his ears. He squared his shoulders and stood for a moment before he turned towards the patrol he led. "Mark wherever need be, I do not have a preference. Cicadapaw, if any questions plague you, ask Pineblossom." He really just didn't want to deal with nagging. Cats were odd and he was never in the mood to deal with that.
If he was needed, he would come, but there was a perfectly confusing warrior right in this patrol whom was their mentor. Why would they bother him? It wouldn't make any logical sense.
Seeing fit to do things alone, he went to the farthest marker he could find, occasionally glancing up at his work to glare at the other side. What? He just looked like that. What he wasn't expecting though, was for some low groan to sound from by his paws. Reddove could feel the heat coming off the creature, and his head snapped down to get a proper look at it.
A frog.
Reddove would've smacked it away if it wasn't prey. But... Was it even something anycat would eat? Reddove personally never passed up on any meal that was given. What was edible was edible, no need to be picky when there were countless cats to feed. And yet, he couldn't help but hate the way it stared at him.

CatfishChirp perked up from where he was sat, a patrol? A border patrol specifically, with one other cat. He was slow to find the one leading the patrol, having to squint and pick apart the blurry figures Infront of him- but once he got closer he was much quicker in pinpointing where they were. Once he made his way over he waved his tail in greetings not wanting to slug through speaking until he needed to- it took him long enough to actually get here already which was embarrassing enough alone. He would have liked to go on a hunting patrol, he was significantly better at hunting than walking around a border. But a border patrol was just as good he supposed.

Mosstangle dipped her head to Catfishchirp when he finally approached. He seemed a little lost so she tried to get his attention with a warm, trilled greeting. "If you're ready, let's go." She said. It was interesting that the first time she was to lead a patrol was her first patrol as an enforcer. A title she would no doubt hold with the utmost pride.
The dark tabby led the way out of camp, tail swaying behind her in a leisurely fashion as she padded along, forcing her stiff but functional shoulder to move normally and checking back to make sure Catfishchirp stayed with her. Maybe she should've done more stretches...
"I don't think we've talked before," She mewed and flicked her tail lightly as they walked. "I don't blame you for having trouble finding me. Pretty sure I blend in with most of the rest of the clan pretty well." She wasn't sure she had seen him at the enforcer challenge, either, so no reason to assume he knew her face all that well.
The dark tabby's ear twitched lightly when she caught the scent of thunderclan. Fresh, too. She didn't know if there was a patrol out now, or if they had just left... She wasn't really interested in finding out, either. There was no bad blood between the clans at the moment, though nor was there any good as far as she was aware. She would be happy as long as it didn't turn into a skirmish, if they bumped into them at all. "Let's stick together. Might take us a little longer, but we'll just alternate over different patches by a few foxlengths."

Pineblossom watched as Reddove walked away from her and Cicadapaw. He was, a strange tom, but she digresses. She turns to Cicadapaw, glancing at the tree bridge. "Alright kiddo, time to cross the bridge," she mewed. "I'll stay right behind you, and be careful. It may be slick in some spots where the rain gets through the canopy above," she grumbled.
Cicadapaw followed the two warriors to Herondive Hollow, amber gaze sweeping over the familiar pine-lined gorge. The air was thick with the scent of rain and moss. He noticed they had gotten enough rain to fill the bottom of the gorge with a few inches of rain and mud. There was enough water that he could even see and hear a few frogs here and there.
He watched as Reddove drifted off to mark the border on his own, then turned his attention to the tree bridge as Pineblossom indicated. With a quiet breath, he stepped up, squaring his shoulders.
"Alright. I’ve got this," he murmured - part reassurance, part reminder. He cast a quick glance back to confirm Pineblossom was right behind him, then began across. One paw, then the next. Slow, deliberate steps. The bark was damp beneath his pads, but familiar. His claws unsheathed just slightly for extra grip, eyes focused straight ahead.
Before he even realized it, he was across. No slips. No stumbles. He hopped down onto the other side with a soft woop, tail flicking as he turned back to grin at Pineblossom. "Still got it," he said, clearly pleased he hadn't forgotten his practice.

Pineblossom nodded her head in approval as Cicadapaw crossed the bridge successfully. The queen finished walking across in a few bounds. She leapt down on the other side beside her apprentice, fluffing his face with her tail. "Great job kiddo," she purred, walking to the border. "This is where the border is. You'll see markers scattered occasionally," she mewed, moving to one of the markers.

He was glad to find his struggle to match who he was going on a patrol with to what he was seeing wasn’t scrutinised, he nodded lightly at the ‘if you’re ready’ and trailed close behind MossTangle.
Catfish had absorbed his attention into his surroundings and his pawsteps- taking in the scents around him and listening out. So he jumped slightly as the silent moving out of camp and walking along was broken by conversation- stifling a frown he nodded lightly again at the words. He was really hoping for the opportunity of a silent patrol, especially since he’d been speaking so much lately. But at least he wasn’t the one starting it this time, so he wasn’t quite as forced to keep speaking. It took him a little bit to think on what to respond with but by then, more words were already out he had to think on a response to. He cleared his throat to speak, slowly and ill-paced. “No.. we haven’t.. spoken before. But.. I can.. say that for.. a lot.. of other cats.” He wasn’t exactly a chatterbox (for un-gossipy-chit-chat), but then again he wouldn’t be friends with anyone who was unless they could run their tongue on interesting conversation. At the mention of his poor searching skills he lowered his gaze back to his paws, another slow clear of the throat. “You were.. just a bit.. blurry.” it was the only way he could word it properly without dragging on.
He scented ThunderClan a moment later than MossTangle, perking his ears. If they were close he’d hear them before he caught onto anything else- so the fact he hadn’t yet probably meant they weren’t too close for comfort. Besides coming across a thunderclan scent near a shared border, he wasn’t very stirred. Yet another series of light nodding at the suggestion to stick close.

Large ears flicked as noise buzzed around him, that including the chorus frogs in his ears. Prey was prey. He'd take a gamble, always. The reward was worth the risk anyways, even if the reward was slimy.
He dug his paws into mud, not exactly afraid to slip, but he'd rather if he didn't. From what he'd seen as an outsider, frogs were jumpy and very hard to grip onto. He had no idea why Shadowclan liked those things, just looking at them made him sick. If this was all he could find though, it would be all he got.
His paws flexed as he crouched down, hamstrings tensed as his heart hammered in his chest.
[reddove rolled a 16, 11, 7, 4, 8]
Out of all the five frogs he scrambled after, three in total had sprung straight out of his paws. It's like his talons could barely break through skin, he had to use his teeth to destroy their coating and get to flesh. The frogs were clearly started, but not startled enough to move. Reddove snorted at them, unamused.
[ +2 frogs]
After that rush, Reddove opted for something with a higher success rate. He could chase frogs all day, and he had no problem with that, but he had problems with wasting his time. Once his purple tinted eyes caught onto a cardinal, he could feel his hackles raise. Hopefully he didn't have a terrible case of butterfingers. And if he did? Ha! Wouldn't last long.

Pineblossom approached a scent marker, marking it before moving to the next. The queen spotted a few scraggly squirrels that she would make a break for soon. Or, she would teach Cicadapaw how to catch them if he hadn't already been taught.

Mosstangle listened to Catfishchirp's reply. Kind of broken and quiet. Perhaps he wasn't the talkative type? Well, that would work fine. Mosstangle could talk for the both of them. Though, she was curious about his last statement as she began marking along the border. "Blurry? Like, you got something in your eye?" She asked the warrior, quite curious about the new mystery for her to unlock. She could think of her eyes being really blurry in the mornings whenever she woke up, or when sand or dirt got into them. The latter was definitely less comfortable.
It seemed that Catfishchirp was just as aware as she was. Nothing meant they would run into any trouble, though. Certainly, they would be able to handle themselves just fine, regardless. Shadowclan certainly had the more advantageous side of the border.
