for one of the dawnspawn litter, rookfire was again and again baffled how differently each kit had grown. houndpaw, from what he had heard, was still mud obsessed and a trouble maker while scorpionpaw seemed to have mellowed out quite a bit. weepingpaw... well they were a bit more sensitive than the others.. but he had time to rid himself of that trait.
"its okay weepingpaw, you did what you were told. your buddy over here isnt trained like the other warriors yet" the enforcer corrected gently, trying to keep the amount of upset apprentice he would have to deal with to a minimum. without leaving weepingpaw or deerclaw time to complain or even get a single word in, he moved on;
"i showed you how its right, right? now you can teach deerclaw aye? you can both be the teacher now" rookfire offered with a tilt of his head before stepping away to give the two more space.

Newtbelly's ear twitched, as Rookfire approached him. "Sounds good to me." He shrugged, before approached the new pair that'd formed nearby. It seemed like they were waiting for something, though he wasn't sure what. "Hey 'paws," he started, trying his best to sound sort of welcoming - or, at least non-intimidating. "You've gotta listen to Tigernight, remember?" The enforcer jerked his head toward Tigernight, the leader of the event. "You're meant to be practicing your battle stance." He explained. "Then look at each other, and try to mirror your stances, got it?" Hopefully they had, because Newtbelly was on his way over to Basspaw now.

Looked like Basspaw was the only one who turned up - good for him. He did wonder ago the other apprentices though. Maybe it was an old man thing to think, but what was with kids these days?! Disappearing right at the start of an event... It was just plain lazy, if not strange. "Alright Basspaw, looks like no one else is showing, so you get one on one tuition." The enforcer shrugged. "Stance first," he began by demonstrating. "Keep your shoulders loose like Tigernight said, paws evenly spaced - you want to keep a small bend in the knees, so you're ready to move at any point."

The apprentice, on the verge of bawling, sniffled a few times and swiped his paw over his eyes to wipe away his stray tears. He calmed a bit with the older cats reassurance, so he wasn't doing anything wrong. That is good. He didn't like doing things wrong, which made him feel bad. His ears perked up at the mention of teaching Deerclaw.

"No knows how to teach, try I will." He sniffled a few more times and looked over at Deerclaw, who was doing a much better battle stance than the silly one before. "Better Deerclaw is doing, not silly, stance is not." Weepingpaw purred softly. His eyes were drawn to Rookfire as the Enforcer slipped away. Ah, wait, the apprentice's whisker quivers as he fights off more tears. Was he going to stay and help them?

Maybe he was busy. Momster said to leave her alone when she was busy, it was bad to be annoying. Maybe he'll come back if he waits and doesn't cry. Weepingpaw didn't want to learn from the loud, confusing cat. He turns to stare at Deerclaw with big, watery, imploring eyes.

"it seems you're the one in charge now yes?" he tilted his head to rookfire who was retreating away "I am fine with you showing me how, you are clan-born after all, yes?" he smiled softly, he cant reach out to comfort the apprentice but he gave a relaxed smile. "now, weepingstar" he jokes gently "show a poor apprentice like me how to do a battle stance" he hopes it lifts weepingpaw's spirits up. █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

He forced a half-hearted smile and nodded "Sounds... good!" He had no choice really, that's when he turned his attention to Newt's voice, flashing a sheepish smile as he did as he was instructed. His crouch was pretty decent, though he did have a tiny bit of practice.

He turned his gaze back to Vixenpaw, waiting for them to also get into a crouch.

rookfire stared blankly at the tears welling in weepingpaws eyes. man dawnstar had sure picked the right name. his strategy seemed to work though, the apprentice brightened up at the possibility of teaching deerclaw and rookfire moved on without regrets. the first group he passed by was honeysucklepaw and vixenpaw. who had named that poor guy honeysucklepaw? rookfire could hardly imagine how much worse of a tongue twister that name would become once he ranked up. paw was only three letters but even his suffix was four letters and he'd consider his name pretty short.

worst case scenario he'd rank up and become honeysucklebluebell or something and rookfire would have to avoid him for eternity in an effort to avoid that stars forsaken name. "looks good, keep practicing" the enforcer confirmed anyway before turning his sight towards tigernight.
the young warrior hadnt said anything in a while and apprentices were growing bored. while rook didnt want to disrupt whatever he was doing like he had with newtbellys event, he'd see no other way out if tigernight didnt continue.

The guy felt a little nervous being assigned to the Enforcer Newtbelly, somewhat feeling like he had gotten himself into an ordeal in which he was not prepared for and would very likely get his butt whooped in. He had been expecting another apprentice, who, even though he had pretty much no battle experience and would maybe still get whooped, would be a more even match for him and less of an embarrassing loss.

This was okay. It was fine. He took a deep breath and a good chunk of the nerves he had dissipated, though they weren't all gone for good. Maybe he could get some brownie points with Newtbelly if he did an okay job, though. That'd be chill. “I must be quite the lucky duck,” he replied lightheartedly.

Basspaw then quickly got to trying to copy Newtbelly's example, crouching down, spacing out his paws, adjusting his shoulders so that they felt looser than before. His head was down so he could look at his lower body easily, to check if everything looked correct. He glanced back up at the Enforcer to compare their stances and realized his body was much too low, so he fixed himself. Small bend in the knees. Shoulders were loose, paws were — he moved them a tiny tiny bit — evenly spaced. Ready!

The apprentice looked eagerly at Newtbelly for approval.
