Pinepaw stood alone in the clearing, watching his clanmates busy themselves. He had nothing to do. And he had no idea what he was supposed to do. So he waited for someone to come along, and for someone to eventually give him direction.

RoseDove pads into the clearing, yellow eyes scanning all the cats that sat about
and groomed themselves. He spots his apprentice, the tail-less feline letting out
an amused purr as he walks over.

"Hey pinepaw!" He meows, chuckling when the app jumped in surprise, "want to go
out for a hunting lesson?" He sits beside the cat.

Uh... Pinepaw stammered, trying to form words. Who... Who're you? He asked, his eyes widening. Oh! He exclaimed, embarrassed. S-sorry... Y-you're my mentor? He peered out of his one eye, shaking out his pelt.

RoseDove nods, expression softening at the apps
nervousness. "Yeah Kid, i'm yer' mentor"

"RoseDove's mah' name" He adds, tilting his head
at Pinepaw

Oh... Okay. Right, Let's go hunting then? Pinepaw mumbled, keeping his voice steady. I know some hunting. I hunted by myself and for my family before I came here. But they died. He informed Rosedove.

RoseDove nods, taking that information in while also
shooting a sympathetic look at Pinepaw. He rises to
his paws smoothly and with little to no issues, having
moons of experience getting used to the whole bob tail
situation.

"Well come on, we're goin' to Dawnin' Woods, ever been der'
before?" He meows, looking at the Tom. A dark tipped ear
flicks as he notices the apprentices expression.
"Also, am' sorry.." He says, his voice leaks a bit of
awkwardness, him not being the best at comforting.
"for yer' family I mean."

Pinepaw blinked his one eye, shaking his head. Nope, never been here before. But it's nice. He murmured, looking up at Rosedove. It's not your fault... They weren't very kind to me. He grimaced, remembering when his father had taken his sight and hearing, each in one ear and eye.

half-blind-and-deaf a little later than he intended.
"Well at least you know sum' huntin'" He gruffs
lightheartedly, "Makes you responsible in sum' ways'."

He gestures to the entrance, already padding towards it.

"Ready?"

Pinepaw nodded swiftly, trotting after his mentor. Everything was new to him. The smells, the cats, the prey. But he would figure it out. He'd try his best.
