There were plenty of energetic cats in the clan, but Sprucepaw couldn't help but be taken aback as that energy was directed at her. At least it should make things lively? The tortoiseshell she-cat settled into a crouch. That was how she thought they should start. "Neither have I. Shall we?"
"Are you called Seapaw because you can see pretty far?" Claypaw asked, finally noticing just how much taller he was compared to her. Granted, she was short for her age, but that didn't matter. She let the blow land on her head, not really feeling it hurt all too much. Did this apprentice wanted to start out slow?
"C'mon, no need to go easy!" The cream and white cat grinned, hopping from one paw to another. This may be training to fight, but Claypaw clearly wasn't taking it seriously. She hopped forward, raising her right paw to slap at Seapaw's shoulder.

1-5 is a miss, 6-10 is a hit but it doesn't do much and doesn't faze the other 11-15 is a solid hit, it did something, 16-19 is a good hit, 20 is too hard, may hurt the other. Roll a d10 for if you dodge
1-5 is failed to dodge and 6-10 is successful dodge

They tilted their head in intrigue. See pretty far... "I don't think so, no," they giggled. "It's because of the sea - like the one at Lionsbeach, if you've seen it? I used to be called Shellpaw, because my fur kind of looks like a shell, with it's colours, see? But the clan had two Shellpaws, so my name was changed. I think I'll go back to Shell when I'm finally a warrior." He smiled politely. It was nice to deal with a young apprentice that wasn't a total pawful. He'd gotten worried about the youth, after his last trips to clean the nursery resulted in bombardment by possible demon babies. No need to go easy - ah, gosh. They'd much rather go easy, but it didn't seem like Claypaw would be happy with that. She slapped his shoulder, and, it was a pretty good one!
Okay, time to go for another hit. He winced, breathing in and lifting a paw with his eyes closed. [rolled: 2] But, it didn't hit anywhere near Claypaw! It just hit the floor! "Oops..."

"Good luck." She said earnestly. Seeing Firepaw give a go ahead, Sprucepaw took the initiative. There wasn't a reason to dance around practicing any longer, not that she had really wanted to. Sprucepaw bounded forward, and as she got close, raised her paw. Her first thought was to go for a swipe to the tabby's muzzle, but that could accidentally go wrong. Instead, she brought her paw lower, trying to swat at his chest.
"First time out've camp." Claypaw mentioned, her tone surprisingly casual about it. Her lack of training didn't really seem to bother her, because she was getting some now! Claypaw had always been Claypaw, except for the time she was Claykit. If she ever had to change from that, she'd be disappointed, but there were a lot of good names out there. "Think your name's good whether you stick with Sea or Shell."

That was enough name talk though. It was time to rumble! As much as they were allowed to, anyways. Maybe Seapaw just needed another demonstration in order to get the move right. Claypaw tried swiping her paw down at Seapaw's left leg.

"aw stars-" ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆

They couldn't tell exactly old she was, but she did appear quite young, she mustn't have been an apprentice for long. "Well, Lionsbeach is nice. It had this big body of water called the sea next to it. It's like a river that never ends." They explained in a relaxed tone. "Aww, thanks." They smiled at the comment about their name - what a sweet kid. He did like the name 'Sea' but it would be a lie to say they didn't miss the name their mother gave them.
Their first move had missed terribly. They weren't all that bothered though, as they were far happier to not be hitting Claypaw - despite her enthusiasm. Claypaw went to swipe, but that also missed by a mile. Gosh, his turn again. [Rolled: 18] Seapaw flung a paw forward, in attempts to hit Claypaw's shoulder.

Sprucepaw ducked out of the way of the blow, though it seemed like Firepaw's swipe would have just missed her ears if she hadn't. Still, one couldn't blame trying to avoid getting hit. The tortioseshell's expression was focused, not harsh but serious about the little sparring bout. As she ducked, she tried darting around Firepaw's side, and tried swiping her paw vertically down his left flank.
"I'm gonna get someone to take me-oof." Claypaw had tried to read Seapaw's moves and get out of the way, but ended up "dodging" right into it! Wow, this wasn't as easy as she expected it to be. It even stung a little! That was good though, the apprentice liked a challenge. The cream and white she-cat jumped from paw to paw, trying to make herself unpredictable before trying to bring a paw up to strike Seapaw across the muzzle.
