Gladepaw long-furred, scarred, dark brown classic tabby with amber eyes

she/they | rc apprentice | 6 moons
It seemed that she was a little late to the meeting… Well that isn't something that’s too bad, right? Plucking her head out of the apprentices’ den, amber-colored hues blinked rapidly as the sunlight struck them, momentarily overwhelming after the gloomier warmth of the den’s interior. She hesitated on the threshold, paws half-lifted. The clearing was already full - bodies shifting and clustered like wind-ruffled leaves, distant voices hushed to murmurs as Owlstar’s voice cut through the noise. Gladepaw’s ears twitched instinctively, catching the tail-end of something about Smallpines and otters. Her breath hitched a little. Had she missed something important? Her paws hovered with uncertainty before she stepped out, keeping close to the den wall as if its shadow might somehow cloak her lateness. She slipped through the gathering crowd like a breeze through tall grass: quiet, and nearly invisible if not for the slight limp in her step and the uneven sway of her shoulders. Gladepaw didn’t weave too close to any particular group, choosing instead to settle near the edge of the cluster of cats. She kept her eyes low but ears pricked, jaw tight as she tried not to look as flustered as she felt. Every movement felt ten times louder under the weight of Owlstar’s voice above.
The next set of words made her stomach turn: reassignments. Her ears perked involuntarily, straining to catch every syllable. She didn’t think her name would be called - she wasn’t sure if that was relief or disappointment. Somewhere in her chest, her heart tripped unevenly. It wasn’t that she disliked her mentor, or even that she hoped to be moved, but the word "untrained" clung to her ribs like river-muck. It made her feel seen in all the worst ways. Her tail curled neatly around her paws, trying to still the restless flicking at its tip. She wasn’t used to being around this many cats all at once, not even after a couple of moons in the clan. When Owlstar rattled off the kits' names - nine of them, stars above - Gladepaw blinked in quiet surprise. She tilted her head just slightly, curiosity softening the stiff line of her shoulders. She didn’t know most of them, but the ceremonial rhythm of names still made something stir in her chest. She remembered her own naming day: how she'd barely spoken a word and her legs trembled the entire time. Her stutter had been particularly bad that morning, and she’d feared tripping over her own name. Now, she just watched. Ears forward, eyes glinting faintly beneath her uneven fringe, Gladepaw looked on in silence as the kits were called. She didn’t smile, but the corners of her mouth twitched like they wanted to, and that was close enough.

Seapaw wandered out of the Apprentice Den as the meeting began. Smallpines was still off limit, that made sense. They couldn't think of many things worse than falling victim to otters. Reassignments - if his training wasn't so close to do, he'd ask for one, but eh. Only a couple lessons now, then they'd make sure to wait for Salamanderpaw. They licked as paw, before sweeping it over their head, as Owlstar called the kits over. Looks like there were more denmates on the way - many.
Pikekit couldn’t believe it, it was finally his time to shine. His pushed his way through the crowd rather brazenly. ”Pikekit reportin’ for duty Owlstar!” His voice was full of excitement he could hardly contain it. He flashed a big cheesy grin over to mama and papa, then towards any of his siblings that had gathered quick enough. He was gonna be the best apprentice there was, for sure.

Cream ears swiveled as she heard her name mentioned. A new mentor? Well, she never met the last one, so guess that made sense. And it was a name she recognized! It was that big cat she talked to forever ago. Sweet! And her little nieces and nephews were already getting apprenticed? Even sweeter! They could do training together. "Gooo Brightkit, Cypresskit and Owlkit!"
Ah, but she better try and find Duskclaw while waiting for them to be apprenticed, shouldn't she? The long furred apprentice got up and began to wander around in search for the giant warrior.
Duskclaw was sitting near the back of the crowd. He perked up a bit at his name being called. An apprentice? Oh, he was so excited! It was easy to tell by his glare and defeated sigh at hearing Claypaw's name. Great, one of the annoying ones... he thought before sitting tall so Claypaw could find him.

Primroseadder watched Brightkit and Owlkit bound forward, her emerald gaze glittering with love, adoration, and pride. She noticed Cypresskit hadn’t gone up yet, and she leaned down to touch her maw to her daughter’s head.
“I know that you’re probably nervous,” she mewed softly, giving Cypresskit’s ear a comforting lick. “‘n that’s perfectly okay. But I need ya ta follow your brothers up there, okay? Don’t worry, your Papa ‘n I are watching’. We’re here, Cyp.”

CYPRESSKIT
Riverclan Kit ~ 4 moons ~ She/Her
"I'll be as good as you one day"
Wait... Owlstar just said Cypresskit. That was her! Eeeeekkk! The rosetted tabby was so excited, she hadn't even noticed that Brightkit and Owlkit had already gone up- Only snapping out of it when Ma Primroseadder whispered to her. "I'm no' nervous! I'ma go right now, right up ta ma sibs! Love ya Ma! Pa!" The large kit sprinted forward, managing to not trip over her own paws, and stopped just in front of her brother and sister, her larger size blocking their view, When she realised, Cypresskit grinned and moved to the side, flicking her siblings happily with her tail. Now that she was going to be an apprentice, she could protect them better than ever!

NIGHTKIT
Riverclan Kit ~ 5 moons ~ She/Her
"I'll be the best herb collector ever!"
Herbal Knowledge T1
Wow... It was her turn to be apprenticed. Finally. Star glanced over and Bramblekit's question, a little late, and purred at his playbow. "No. The scratches are from when I fell in the thorn bush in the clearing- remember? You tried to help me." The inky black she-kit licked the ginger tom's head, and then padded forward, limp barely noticeable. Her white eye patch, and the tiny trail of mini white stars on her face, crinkled and glimmered from both the light and her movements. White-socked leg reach up to groom her face and ears quickly, before Nightkit sat down, towards the back of the apprentices. 'I can do this...' Nightkit thought, flicking her tail to nervously curl it around her paws. Star glanced back at Bramblekit, one more time, washed-out and faded blue eyes bright, before turning back to Owlstar. She was ready.

Claypaw
|| She/her || 5 Moons || 19/100 ||
There he was! Claypaw bounced over to Duskclaw and unceremoniously sat down beside him. At least she had enough sense not to jump around him. "Hi, big guy!" She looked up at him with a wide grin. "Lookin' forward to learnin' a thing or two from you! How about we start with swimmin'? Never met my last mentor, so dunno much yet."

Duskclaw of RiverClan

"Don't call me that." Duskclaw's voice had a slight growl to it. He clearly wasn't a fan of nicknames. Upon hearing Claypaw's request to learn about swimming the rusty colossus leaned down to try and match Claypaw's eyeline. Claypaw was as big to him as a rat is to a normal cat. "You can't swim yet?"
“HEY! That’s my sister you’re talkin’ ta,” Primroseadder snapped, her ears flattening as she approached Duskclaw. “Don’t speak ta ‘er that way. She’s only an apprentice, ‘n she’s young. If ya don’t want ‘er ta call ya somethin’ ya don’t like, then the least ya could do is be nice ‘bout it.”
The warrior’s gaze flicked over to Claypaw. “Are ya alright, sissy? He didn’t hurt your feelin’s, did he?” If he did, he was going to pay for with a stern talking to from Primroseadder. It was clear that the she-cat was protective over her kin. Besides, she had already decided she was going to have a talk with Owlstar about Duskclaw being mean to her little sister.
(forgive my intrusion, but it is not like primroseadder to let her sister be disrespected <3)
