Make sure to congratulate Versailles on their promotion from c-mod in training to fully fledged chat moderator! They've worked very hard, and we can't wait to see where they go from here!
Boo! This thread will be used for the Lighthouse Landmark! I have already chosen the name and the general geology of the area, but if you have any ideas, or questions about how this place looks, please ask me! I don't bite. Once the location is discovered IC, I'll take this thread to staff and let them add it to the official threads/landmarks. Also, this post here will be edited to fit the visuals of the location! Also, DO NOT POST BEFORE OWLSTAR. She is leading this patrol, and anycat who rushes ahead will be replaced. So wait for me guys! I'll be posting soon :3
Owlstar padded forward, the wind making her fur blow wildly as she walked forward. It was somewhat of a chore, truthfully, trying to make it up the cliffs in the dark like this. She then began to wonder why she took a cat who was missing an eye along. Yes, Sunflowerflare had volunteered, but if Owlstar could barely see, she knew good and well they couldn't either.
Calloused paws gripped onto snow as she scaled the stones. Somehow, she'd managed to commit the direction the light was pointing to memory. Also, there was an odd smell. Not like burning wood, but like fire had managed to burn itself. Something like the stench of lightning after it strikes. But, she didn't exactly know what that smelt like either.
She turned to face the cats who trailed behind her as the smell got closer. They went a good way up the rocks of Rugged Range by now, so checking if anycat has slipped and fallen was nearly mandatory at this point. She counted them off by their ears, Caveclaw, Sunheart, Sunflowerflare. "Aye! I think we're close. Just above this ledge, eh?" she called out to them before continuing forward. She was slightly tense, prepared to deal with any two-legs that might try to spring at her.
However, once she reached the source of the weirdly metallic burning smell, no two-legs were seen, something taller loomed instead, the moon shinning vividly through that glass that held the light of the lighthouse. But, Owlstar didn't know what the heck that thing was. She leader immediately stilled and scooped out the situation, the crash of waves a prominent hum.
A spring in his step fueled by the prickling curiosity, Sunheart followed quickly behind his leader. What was that light from? Some weird twoleg contraption? Was Juniperberry right? Was StarClan showing them an ill omen?
So many questions ran through the deputy's mind as the neared the ledge that Owlstar mentioned, tail twitching nervously. He nodded in response to her, glancing back at Caveclaw and Sunflowerflare. Three trusted friends he travelled with. Hopefully, this would be smooth sailing...
SunflowerFlare quietly hopped with the group, squinting to make out things in the dark. Her ears were damn good, but didn’t help much here. She tried to stay close to her brother the whole time, probably accidentally bumping into the deputy a time or two, but between her off-balance legs to her faulty eyesight, who could blame her? Was she being a setback right now?…Who the hell cared? If she was, then OwlStar or someone should’ve told her to not go beforehand. She wouldn’t blame them if they turned her down- anyone. Tsk- whatever.

The leader wriggled her haunches before she sprung forward. It wasn't a harsh jump, so she wasn't exactly concerned about falling. Unsheathed claws caught onto grass and the scent of two-legs was more present, but faint. They'd certainly left by now, their tracks of oddly long feet were nothing but dull imprints in grass.
She got a better look at the structure too, still looming as she craned her head to look at it, squinting. The leader padded up to the structure and sniffed at it. The metallic burning smell returned to her pink nose, which she had wriggled in response to the oder. Yup, this was it. It smelt like burnt rocks, weirdly enough.
She circled the structure, muscles tense. She tried to smell anything beyond the burning that her nose had already gathered, but as far as she could tell, nothing was inside the rotting structure. It looked somewhat like a two-leg nest, but what kind of two-leg needs a built in star in their den? Circling back around the nest, nearly tripping over a few planks, she addressed the cats before her.
"Sunheart, I want cha ta travel deeper inta this area, see if ya find anythin' odd, any predators. On top of that, if ya can spot herbs er smell prey, tell me. Ya can go with Caveclaw." she nodded to the Lionheart before turning to Sunflowerflare.
"Aye lassy, yer wit me." Even in the dull lighting, she could make out the cats long mane and scarred appearance. "We're checkin' out this structure 'ere. I cain't tell if anythin' is inside, but its better ta be safe since it smells like somethin' just burned up 'ere. Plus, I wanna make sure that light show don't 'apppen again." She flicked the tip of her tail and gestured to their assigned places before refocusing on the warrior and nosing around for something...
There had to be a way to get inside, right? All two-legs had some odd contraption... After pawing around and pushing her forehead against some areas, something finally budged, swinging open to reveal an open enclosure. Jolting back, Owlstar peered into the area. It was narrow and run down, milky moonlight spilling through the ceiling. There were some boxes and shelves that she could see, and a bedframe, but Owlstar thought of it as an odd assortment of sticks.
There was also a staircase, holes littering it's form. Owlstar narrowed her eyes, checking for a fire, but she didn't see a single spark. The leader snorted. While she was glad she wouldn't have a fire to deal with, that didn't explain the smell. She looked over her shoulder to Sunflowerflare. "C'mon chap." With that, she padded in.

At Owlstar's orders, Sunheart gave a firm nod, bounding off in the direction of the dilapidated building with a flick of his tail signaling Caveclaw to follow.
"Check the outer area first. Do not go into the twoleg nest. I don't care how abandoned it looks." The deputy ordered sternly, though he had no doubts the Lionheart would follow instructions. Lifting his head, he scanned the slightly hilly area, stepping precautious as he sized up the building. Pale green eyes narrowed. It did certainly seem abandoned, but he didn't plan on sending one of his clanmates inside. No, he would wait for Owlstar's orders for that. Besides, his orders now were to look for herbs and prey.
'Squeak!' A rat shot out from the decaying building, startling Sunheart enough that it slipped right past his paws. At least it didn't attack. Okay...noted. Seems some rodents might like to hide out here.
A loud squawking sounding in the air made the bagel bengal jump slightly. Looking up, he notices a small flock of gulls soaring peacefully in the breeze. He did suppose they weren't far from the ocean, so maybe they would find similar prey to Lionsbeach too? Naturally, he would find spots here and there that one could safely fish, but he did make the mental note that the waves did seem to crash particularly hard on some areas of rocks. There would need to be a warning made to be careful about that. Flexing his claws slightly into the ground, the tom grinned quietly to himself. A new additional to RiverClan's territory, perhaps? It's not like this would be easily accessible to the other Clans...and another place to look for prey- especially during Leafbare. Rodents and other prey may seek shelter in the twoleg nest to stay warm...humming quietly to himself, the deputy continued on with his search.
As he picked his way along the grassy areas, stopping to sniff a few salty rocks, a tangy scent would occasionally waft into his nose. It was herbs, he imagined. It smelled a lot like Berry's den...but Sunheart wasn't going to kid himself that he knew what he was looking at. Would it be safe to bring Berryshine out here to inspect? Maybe he should bring something back for her...she would know what it was. Besides, maybe it was safer that way? Shaking his head with a chuckle, Sunheart headed back towards Caveclaw. Berryshine was not a child anymore. She would be fine- with an escort, of course. "Find anything interesting?" He called out to the Lionheart.
[ PREY THAT CAN BE FOUND: seagulls, herons, hares, fish, large rodents ]
[ HERBS THAT CAN BE FOUND: thyme, rosemary, horsetail, sage, moss ]
( *Note: for herbs, if Caveclaw has no herb training on these herbs, they would not know what they are. )
