Irisdream's rebuke only earned a snort of contempt from Talonhive, but he made no further comment as he lead them to Lionsbeach. At least they quickly started hunting, which he supervised for a bit before moving off to do his own once he was sure they weren't going to skimp on their duty.

He managed to find a crab and pin it under one of his huge paws rather quickly. He deftly flipped it over, one paw holding it down while the other worked to carefully slide his claws beneath the shell and kill it without ruining the meat.

Once he finished that process, he returned to see Irisdream and Duskleaf bringing back their catches. Without commenting he flicked his tail for them to follow and began heading back to camp.

Skullbrook nodded when she heard Sprucepaw's reply, walking closer to the coastline, hoping Sprucepaw was following. "Don't go to close in the water, you can't swim yet." She called out, eyes scanning the sand for shells buried deep under her paws. "Dig around, most of its gonna be buried." She said, before digging in areas she'd expect a shell to be. After a few moments she found a clear white one that looked like a swirl, smiling and picking it up in her jaws. She placed it on the sand farther away from the waves, so it wouldn't get washed away. Maybe i'll dig some more until sprucepaw finds something she likes..

"I won't." Sprucepaw promised with a nod. Part of her couldn't help but be embarrassed about not knowing to swim, but every cat had to learn at some point. And the sense was overpowered by how mesmerizing the ocean looked. The seagulls sounded like they would get annoying quickly, but even that couldn't dampen her awe. It took her a minute to take her eyes off of the water. Right, seashell hunting. A very... Apprentice task.

Sprucepaw padded around for a bit, unsure of where a good spot to dig would be. Was it where there were already some shells peeking out, or should she just pick a spot and hope for the best? Eventually, she decided on trying the former, finding a spot with a fan-like shell poking above the sandy surface. This one looked fine enough, but it didn't really capture her interest. She dug out some of the sand, and managed to find part of a spikey shell. Now that one was curious looking. Gently she lifted the shell out of the hole, before pushing sand back in to refill it.

｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ he should not be out here, he never asked, but he wanted to prove himself so- he wiggled his hunches and leaped into the water, his body being pushed but he forced himself under. (rolled a 13) he pushed on, spying a rather big fish and he swam after it deeper and deeper, his breath becoming a burning sensation (rolled a 12) he opened his jaws and snagged its tail, he swam up and down dragging him with it, but he didn't let go (rolled a 16) he managed to grip his claws on it and it became slow, so he wiggled a bit and killed it in the water, he then grabbed it better and began to swim up (rolled a 1) his paws became tired and he blinked away a few black spots...he was swept down again and he needed to b r e a t h (rolled a 18) he managed to get back on track, his paws moving hard and then.... (rolled a 5) he was swepted back again and he gasped, a breath of water intake made him shudder, his vision beginning to blur (rolled a 18) he pushed one last time and broke to the surface, pushing the fish out and coughing madly as he tried to breath, he collapsed on his side and looked up...for a moment he felt horrified but then began to laugh. "that...that was so c o o l" he giggled, he needed to rest...then he would return to camp... ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆

Skullbrook turned to look at Sprucepaw as they found their first shell. Sprucepaw was already getting the hand of it. Thats good. She inspected the spikey shell for herself. Honestly, she didn't think that would be a good nest decoration, since you could roll over it. (And that would HURT). But it was a good den or maybe camp decoration.

Skullbrook looked over the horizon, noting how now the sun was hanging low in the sky. They'll have to go to camp soon, but not now. She poked around in the sand a bit before she found a shell that looked like a leaf, parts of the shell chipped off. It was slightly discolored and gross, but the shape was pretty. Skullbrook placed it beside her first shell.

She was about to dig for another, when suddenly she spotted a Crab on the coastline, and a group of gulls not to far away. She didn't feel like getting pecked to death, so she went for the crab. Slowly creeping closer to the coastline. The prey seemed unaware of her slowly approaching, and when she got close enough, she pounced.

She aimed the pounce perfectly as her jaws clamped around the small crabs body. Crunching and killing it in one bite. It was pretty small for a crab, but it was food nonetheless. She walked back over to her shell pile and plopped the crab down. Keeping an eye out for any gulls wanting to steal her kill.

Sprucepaw spotted the pile Skullbrook was making, and decided to place her shell in it, keeping it slightly away from her mentor's things as to not get mixed up. She padded a short distance away, and went back to scanning the sand for anything interesting. As she found another promising spot, she was distracted by Skullbrook stalking off to hunt a crab. The apprentice stared, watching and taking quiet notes on how to successfully capture prey.


Sprucepaw quickly dug at her spot, fully revealing the conical shell that had mostly been buried by the sand. Unimpressive in color, but the shape was nice. She picked it up, and hurried to catch up to Skullbrook. The shell was dropped by her other one before she spoke, "How do you know the best spot to kill a crab? It doesn't seem easy with the shell..."

"Well, you can easily break the shell with your jaws if its small. The bigger ones are a bit harder, i've never tried hunting a big one before so I can't really tell you about that." She responded, feeling a bit guilty that she wasn't able to really answer Sprucepaw's question. Skullbrook spent little of her free time as an apprentice hunting, so really she wasn't experienced in that field.

"You you want to try? I'm sure if we explore some more we'll find some other crabs." She shivered a bit as the cool air blew past the both of them.
