Lynxpaw was in the apprentices' den when the chaos unfolded. The yowling was what woke him from his nap, and the thundering pawsteps in the clearing sent a bolt of panic straight to his heart. Were they under attack?! Pelt bushed out in a combination of fear and anxiety, he darted out of the den to see what was happening.
Luckily, they weren't under attack. Unluckily, the patrol Bumblestar had sent out not long ago has returned bloody and beaten. Lynxpaw's eyes flickered back and forth in horror has he took in his wounded Clanmates, not able to tell if they were alive. It took a moment for him to calm down in the chaos of everyone running around, but he soon realized that standing and staring wouldn't help anyone.
The apprentice made his way through the crowd, intent on gleaning any information that would allow him to render aid when he nearly steps on a kit. They were frozen, staring at the bloody scene. At least this is something Lynxpaw can deal with. Or so he thought.
"Dovekit, why don't we bring prey to the medicine—"
The single word, snarled out in a low hiss with a razor's edge, sliced through whatever the end of that was going to be. Sniped it right from the air between them that thickened with tension in the aftermath of this brute nearly tripping on her, momentarily drawing Dovekit’s focus away from Spiderthroat. Her expression, once blank as she stood frozen at the brutal scene, now had darkened dangerously — the smallest glimpse into the storm raging inside.
Dovekit’s glacial mask turned on Lynxpaw. A slow, mechanical sweep of her dead-cold gaze, letting the catastrophic miscalculation that was his very presence — his attempted approach — sink into him. He needed to know what he had done.
Prey? No. For this unwitting fool, it was time for pray.
Dovekit’s claws curled in the dirt, anchors in the whirlwind that ripped out of her into a sickening venom-laced whisper.
"You simple, feebleminded pelican.” Dovekit bristled, pulled taut like a coil ready to snap. “Do I strike you as a common errand-seeking set of paws waiting to be ordered around by some no-name apprentice? Take your fluff-brained gestures of hospitality to the otters. They will at least enjoy the sport of separating you from your clumsy, oafish limbs," Dovekit gritted through clenched teeth and spared the briefest of glances at those STUPID legs that had almost stepped on her, "if they cannot find solidarity in your idiocy.Get out of my sight.”
Incensed at his audacity to be standing there at all, made worse by a patronizing attitude, everything was ablaze in Dovekit while her exterior embodied groaning ice on the verge of collapse.

Did she feel guilty? Yes. Her own apprentice was disappointed because of the stunt she pulled. Her apprentice. A cat much younger than her. But was she going to let that get to her and sulk like a moody apprentice? Hell no. The rosetted she-cat spotted her former apprentice in the clearing, clearly looking for someone to train her. She had that spark in her eyes, that look when she wanted to prove herself.
"Sunrisepaw," She called, slowly padding up to the tortoiseshell feline. "I... Apologise for the embarrassment I caused both you and myself. It... Well, I'm not going to make excuses, but you don't know the full story, do you?" She fixed her single-eyed gaze on Sunrisepaw's.
"I'm willin' to take you training. One mistake doesn't make me any less of a warrior." She murmured softly, as if she was talking to a kit. She wasn't usually like that, not to an apprentice, but she couldn't help it.

’Rise narrowed her eyes as she saw Mothflame approaching, restraining a groan. What now? But she listened quietly as the rosetted warrior apologized, though her gaze remained hard and her tail still lashed in annoyance. “One mistake doesn't make me any less of a warrior.” At this, she scoffed softly. “Tell that to my brother.” She grumbled, knowing full well that Mothflame would know exactly what she was referring to. But she waved her tail before the warrior could respond, she was in no way comparing Mothflame’s error to the cat that birthed her. ‘Rise was angry, distrustful, but not stupid.
“You know as well as I do that depends entirely on the mistake.” She snapped, though she hid how much those words hit home for her. Still…adults could not be trusted. The dilute tortie rose to her paws, shaking out her pelt. “Let’s go then.” She huffed, nodding at Mothflame. Had she forgiven the warrior? Maybe…she still liked the warrior. Her ferocity and courage. Not that she’d admit that openly. Though the hardness in his gaze had waned somewhat…likely betraying the fact that she wanted desperately to be able to trust Mothflame.
