She continued to pay attention, bouncing cheerily as she awaited the kits apprentice ceremonies! She still remembered hers- it was so FUN.

She's buzzing. There's reassignments and then... new apprentices. Faithkit and Fernkit's names are among those called up, and Larkwing cannot help the pained and shuttering breath that leaves her when she closes her eyes for a moment. Houndkit should be with them.

"Faithkit, Fernkit" she calls, quickly rising to her paws and forcing a smile onto her face. It's genuine, but she isn't sure it reaches her eyes. Larkwing intercepts her children on their way to their spot, bending down to quickly smooth the fur on the top of their heads, her eyes shining. "Good luck," she whispers and then takes a step back once again, blending into the front row of the crowd, right behind the apprentices-to-be, emerald gaze moving from her daughters and onto Owlstar, silently imploring the leader to make a good choice here with their mentors.

It's finally time. He gets to leave the den full of babies and can now look down upon them as their superior. Hick has been counting down the days till he was old enough, and it has come. FINALLY. The silky-furred tom scans the crowd, his chest puffed up with pride as he swaggers over to the Skyridge, his amber orbs pausing as they reach his sister. Oof, she never does care about looking neat. Silly child, this is her coming of age ceremony! The tradition that makes her a full-fledged teenager! He cannot let his kin embarrass themselves.

"Hey Clay," He greets, sitting down next to her and straightening her messy pelt, "C'mon, today's important, can't ya make an effort ta look nice?

He shakes his head, cuffing her ear lightly with a fluffy paw then proceeding to groom the fur he messed up back into place. Usually he doesn't care so much about his own fur, but hey, he's gotta look nice for the ladies clan.

"Yeah, yeah. You're acting like Ma." Claykit shook her head as Hickory it started to mess with her fur. She playfully swatted his shoulder in response. Her fur wasn't that bad, was it? She licked her chest a few times to try and smooth out some of it, but really, there wasn't enough time. It'd be fine until she could properly clean up later. With an attempt made, she shrugged. "No one'll care."

Hickory lets out an indignant huff at the comparison Clay draws, perfecting her face fur's placement, at the very least that has to be tidy. As she swats at him he rolls his eyes, dodging her attack.

"Am not, ma's more fussy than I am, count yourself lucky," He tells her, smoothing her pale pelt, "I've been pickin' at my fur all day, don't ya know how ta clean up?"

He sighs playfully, bopping her nose and laying his tail over Claykit's.

"It's fine though, jus' come ta me before big events, a'ight? I'll getcha all presentable or whatever," He says with a softer expression than he likes to make, that is before he clears his throat and looks away.

That was kinda mushy. Hick is not mushy. The blue tom nods to himself subconsciously as he convinces himself of how not mushy he is, even though his curled tail still rests over his sister's. Sure buddy, whatever helps you sleep at night.

Rainpaw smiled as the kits gathered up for their apprentice's ceremony, but then her gaze became concerned...she shot a glance at her sister. Were they not in fact becoming warriors today?

Rae received her sister's glance and returned it, flicking a white ear in return. No idea sis. Dark blue eyes turned back to Owlstar expectantly, maybe she was just getting the kittos out of the way first?

Spiderpaw's heart leaped as Owlstar said her name. Already reassigned? She supposed it had been a while... Her eyes sought out her new mentor, Softsky, though an ear stayed directed towards her leader to keep up. She wondered what Softsky was like. Hopefully they wouldn't be too upset with Spiderpaw, though she was trying hard with the events that had been going on to get as much training as she could.

Softsky looked up at the sound of her name. An apprentice? Awesome! She thought. She turned to Tigersplash, and smiled, before searching for her apprentice. Sky spotted the young cat, and made a mental note to train after the meeting.

FERNKIT
she/her — the soarer
The she-kit perked up at the sound of her name being called. Finally…she’s been waiting. Of course not patiently. She’s snuck out (and gotten lost) numerous times but she always seemed to come back okay. She was grateful for Miss BerryShine letting her back with ease.

FernKit. FaithKit. For some dumb reason she expected to hear Hounds name. Of course it never came. The kit was dead by a few moons, but it still hurt. Sissy should be here…it was always supposed to be them three. Faith and Fern and Hound (along with Ma and pa). Now Faith had lost her sight, and Hound her life. She felt like her father was hardly around her, and mama…something about her has changed too. It wasn’t fair. It didn’t feel fair.

Still, her littermates short life had degraded much worse than hers has, so she shouldn’t bring attention to herself. Mama needed to grieve, and FaithKit is scarred for life. FernKit felt as if her issues were irrelevant. Why should it be important when much worse is happening?

So the kit forced a smile on her face and did her best to appear as her usual, floppy self, and padded out. She forced joy on her face as she saw her mother and nuzzled against her shoulder. “Thank you mama!” she purred, then slipped in stride with her sister, brushing the lighter kits fur as a way of saying ‘I’m right here’. “You excited? I sure am!” she said happily, nudging her sisters shoulder with her own playfully before looking to the leader.
